Game jams have the potential to provide an effective and focused experience and participants
gain valuable skills in prototyping and collaboration. The collaborative and community based
environment provides supports creativity and learning and establish spaces that support the
independent game development ecosystem.
-Mexico City, May 2017.
-Mexicans, 8-15 years, from PIDASI (Programa Integral para el Diagnóstico y Atención a la
Sobredotación Intelectual).
- High IQ.
GAME JAM and learning
•Learning theories have been highlighted which connect well to game jams.
•Proposal to use game jam in a different activity and not just using computers.
•Proposal toward introducing a game jam in game design development.
GAME JAM Format
•Small teams design and develop playable games or prototypes.
•A prescribed theme or topic: enviroment and sustantability.
•Takes place during a short period of time (4 hours).
• Finale presentation.

N = 21, spread over 4 different teams
Pre-jam questionnaire
Demographics, attitude towards games (digital, etc.), attitude
towards Teen JamMX 2017.
Post-jam questionnaire
Role(s) fulfilled in the team, collaboration, learning outcomes

  • 4. Teen JamMX 2017 Game jams have the potential to provide an effective and focused experience and participants gain valuable skills in prototyping and collaboration. The collaborative and community based environment provides supports creativity and learning and establish spaces that support the independent game development ecosystem. -Mexico City, May 2017. -Mexicans, 8-15 years, from PIDASI (Programa Integral para el Diagnóstico y Atención a la Sobredotación Intelectual). - High IQ.

GAME JAM and learning •Learning theories have been highlighted which connect well to game jams. •Proposal to use game jam in a different activity and not just using computers. •Proposal toward introducing a game jam in game design development. GAME JAM Format •Small teams design and develop playable games or prototypes. •A prescribed theme or topic: enviroment and sustantability. •Takes place during a short period of time (4 hours). • Finale presentation.
  • 6. Study design Quantitative research design N = 21, spread over 4 different teams Pre-jam questionnaire Demographics, attitude towards games (digital, etc.), attitude towards Teen JamMX 2017. Post-jam questionnaire Role(s) fulfilled in the team, collaboration, learning outcomes
