The second scene begins with a voice off from the battlefield. We hear voices of both Iraqi and
Iranian soldiers who are repeating the same cries, asking for blessedness from God, Prophet
Mohammed, Ali, and Hussein. The hysterical cries of the soldiers are heard along with sounds of
explosions and machine guns. The young man wakes up and it turns out to be his dream. The war
is thus presented as this young man s timeless and eternal nightmarish present. Similar to the rest of
the soldiers, he calls onto Hussein, the Prophet s grandson, but he also shouts that his friend,
Hussein, has been slain in the same manner. The playwright thus wants to bring together the past

The death of a costumed adventurer often leads audiences to contemplate the significance of it. It
is a prevalent issue in which these characters appear to sacrifice their lives for the possibility of a
greater good. In Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen, masked hero are subjected towards
death due to their actions and the actions of others. Whether it is the actions of a friend, stranger,
or foe, the untimely deaths of Rorschach, Nite Owl I, and The Comedian proves a costumed
adventurer s death leads to the loss of humanity. Walter Joseph Kovacs, or more commonly known
as Rorschach, is a costumed vigilante whose death plays a significant role in Watchmen. Rorschach
is depicted as a disturbed man who believes there is always a right and wrong, even if it means
breaking the law to bring a higher justice in the world. His belief deems prevalent by defying the
Keene Act of 1977, which outlawed any type of vigilantism by costumed adventurers, except for
those who worked exclusively under the United States government like Dr. Manhattan and The

On February 26, at 7:11 pm it was a rainy night in Sanford, Florida when a neighborhood
watchman, 28 year old mixed Hispanic George Zimmerman, calls 911 to report a suspicious
person. This guy looks like he s up to no good, or he s on drugs or something. It s raining and he s
just walking around, looking about (Genius). That suspicious person was 17 year old African
AmericanTrayvon Martin returning home after stopping by a local convenience store to purchase,
the now infamous, Arizona Ice tea and Skittles. When the 911 dispatcher asked Zimmerman if he
was following Martin he replied yeah. The dispatcher in return said, Okay, we don t need you to do
that (Chicago Tribune). That call would last four minutes.
Soon afterwards, the police received more calls from the neighborhood reporting, at first, two men
in a physical altercation but eventually a gunshot. When officers arrived at the scene they
encountered George Zimmerman who was bleeding from mild head injuries and the lifeless body
of Trayvon Martin, having been shot by Zimmerman. Zimmerman acknowledges that he shot
Martin, claiming it was in self defense (CNN). Sanford police took Zimmerman into custody,
questioned him for hours and eventually released him. According to Sanford police, Zimmerman
alleged that he killed Martin in self defense so he was neither arrested or given any sort drug
/alcohol test (MTV).
