Principles of Learning
Teaching Behavior of the Teacher/
Learning Behavior of the Learner as
Proof of the Application of the Principles
of Learning
1. Learning is an experience which
occurs inside the learner is activated
by the learner
Teacher lets the students do the learning
activity. e.g. - Students construct sentences
using appropriate Pronouns.
2. Learning is the discovery of the
personal meaning and relevance of
ideas.
Teacher lets the students explore and
identify the different functions of pronouns
in a sentence.
3. Learning is a consequence of
experience.
I haven’t noticed that the teacher touched
this principle for it’s my first time to
observe her class.
4. Learning is a cooperative and
collaborative process.
Teacher lets the students refer and ask from
their classmate beside them before writing
sentences in the board.
5. Learning is an evolutionary process. Teacher lets the students appreciate literary
works of Chinese.
6. Learning is sometimes a painful
process.
Teacher encourages her students and gives
pieces of advice for them to ponder that
learning is not easy.
7. One of the richest resources for the
learning is the learner himself.
Teacher engages her students in various
activities to maximize learning and
effective.
8. The process of learning is
emotional as well as intellectual.
Teacher makes sure that her students are
emotionally ready for the lesson and
intellectually enhanced at the end of the
lesson.
9. The process of problem solving and
learning is highly unique and
individual.
Teacher makes sure that she develops one’s
learning style through varying her approach
in order to enhance their problem solving
technique.

Principles of Learning
Teaching Behavior of the Teacher/
Learning Behavior of the Learner as
Proof of the Application of the Principles
of Learning
1. Learning is an experience which
occurs inside the learner is activated
by the learner.
Teacher lets the students solve in the board
the given topics.
2. Learning is the discovery of the
personal meaning and relevance of
ideas.
Teacher lets the students discover the
solutions to the mathematical situations and
problems.
3. Learning is a consequence of
experience.
Not yet applied.
4. Learning is a cooperative and
collaborative process.
Teacher explains the written solutions of
the students and collaborates sometimes
with the students in order to exchange
ideas.
5. Learning is an evolutionary process. Teacher emphasizes that to learn new
things, is the moment something will be
changed in their view of life.
6. Learning is sometimes a painful
process.
Learners find the topic hard but eventually
were able to learn more because of the
hardships they encountered while on the
process of learning.
7. One of the richest resources for the
learning is the learner himself.
Teacher sees to it that his students are the
center of his teaching.
8. The process of learning is
emotional as well as intellectual.
Teacher lets the students internalize the
problems in order to come up with the right
solution and answer.
9. The process of problem solving and
learning is highly unique and
individual.
The teacher gives problems to the students
for them to think for the solution. e.g. –
Students find the slope, the y-intercept and
the x-intercept.

My Analysis
With the observance of the teachers of the 9 principles of learning, the teaching-
learning process really went well. Teaching is very effective since the students were
engage in various activities that catered their diversified needs in learning. It may take
time but in the end, teaching will be worth it for there is a big assurance that learning of
the students will be multiplied. These principles have a big impact to the students in such
way that the students will actively be involved for the whole period. Thus, they can learn
more.
Among the 9 principles of learning, I think the first principle was applied most
since almost the whole class; the teachers let the thinking and exploring be done by the
students. Most often, the teachers ask their students questions in order to clearly be
understood by the students.
The principle of learning that was not applied was the third principle since it’s my
very first time to observe the teachers in those classes.
I agree with all the principles of learning because teaching should be student-
centered. Also, it embraces all the learning needs of students. In fact, it is a need for a
teacher to observe all the principles in every teaching process so that teaching and
learning could occur in a most effective manner.

My Reflections
Yes, all my Resource Teachers adhere to the principles of learning. Both of them
employed activities which are relevant to the needs of the students. They both abide with
the principles basing on the students’ performances shown. All of them are active during
the discussion. They adhere since it is a mandate for teachers to support that learning
should be learner-centered.
Lessons I have learned from my observations on the classroom application of the
principles of learning are as follows;
I learned that teaching is not effective if students are not totally engaged.
I learned that it is time consuming.
I learned that students should really be given diversified activities in order to cater
all their needs.
I learned that learning takes place a long period of time.
