Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docx
From the pastor's desk
1. November 26, 2010 Well, it’s Friday after Thanksgiving, and I have a few thoughts to pass along to the church and visitors to our website. It’s raining this morning, and that is the blessing of God. I am thankful that our Heavenly Father sends His rain on the just and on the unjust alike.
The Thompson family had a great day yesterday, with good food and fun at Mama T’s. All of our widows from the church were with us, and I am thankful for that blessing. I would like to request your prayers for Artance Carter; she is weaker almost every time I see her.
I pray that all of you enjoyed Thanksgiving Day with family or friends. Good and Godly fellowship is the best blessing in this life. Don’t allow the devil to steal your joy by isolating you from the love of your family and friends.
Christmas is just a month away. Get caught up in the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. If you are able to give presents, give in remembrance of the greatest gift ever given. Don’t get too busy to enjoy the season. Busyness is not good spiritual business.
May God bless all of His children is my heart’s desire. God loves you. If you are not yet His child, He died for you. Just accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Ask forgiveness for your sins, and God will save you from sin and from hell.
November 29, 2010 Well, it’s Monday morning, and we had a great day in church yesterday. Justin and Susan were up since Thanksgiving, and sang in both services. What a blessing.
Sunday morning, Ronnie, Phyllis, and Mama T were in Bryson City, NC visiting with Mom’s sisters. We missed them, but God made up the difference in our worship service. They got back Sunday night and Ronnie and Phyllis sang several with Connie; it was good to have them back.
That brings to mind the Truth that God always makes up for any lack in our lives. The Bible teaches that God loves us and will withhold no good thing from those who love Him and live our lives His Way. I have always found that to be true in my own life, as I am certain that most of you have. God loves me! Isn’t that amazing! Well He loves you just as certainly.
Artance Carter was in church both services and spent the afternoon with us. Thanks for all your prayers. She was much stronger than on Thanksgiving.
Always remember that God is good, all the time; even when He doesn’t do what I tell Him.
Pray for me that I will be always submissive and obedient to God’s Word and His Spirit.
David Thompson
December 18, 2010 Well, it's getting close to Christmas. I will be preaching the Christmas story in two parts this Sunday, December 19. I have been working on it all week, and I am looking forward to preaching it.
I know it's not a new thought, but I would like to encourage every Christian to remember that Jesus came to bring peace, joy, and abundant life. Don't let the world's version of Christmas ruin the season for you. Spending hours and money you don't really have to try and buy just the right gift for so many people can really take the joy and peace out of you.
Relax and enjoy living every moment. When the family gets together, enjoy the fellowship without fretting about things being just perfect -- they won't anyway. If you have friends over, enjoy their company, and they will enjoy being with you. If you do give or receive gifts, do so in remembrance of the greatest gift ever given, when God gave His only begotten Son to save us from our sins and reconcile us unto Himself.
Saturday, January 1, 2011: It's a new year with new opportunities. God gives us the opportunities and the will to see them fulfilled.
