1. Weekly News from WCUMC-1/20/2013
Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world.
"Made Alive In Christ"
'Basic Training for Followers of Christ
Once we were disobedient to God's will. We did whatever felt good
and whatever we wanted to do. We were headed for punishment.
At one time you were like a dead person because of the things you did
wrong and your offenses against God. You used to act like most people
in our world do. You followed the rule of a destructive spiritual power.
This is the spirit of disobedience to God’s will that is now at work in
persons whose lives are characterized by disobedience. At one time you
were like those persons. All of you used to do whatever felt good and
whatever you thought you wanted so that you were children headed for
punishment just like everyone else.
Ephesians 2:1-3
But God is merciful and He loved us. He brought us to life and raised
us up with Christ.
However, God is rich in mercy. He brought us to life with Christ while
we were dead as a result of those things that we did wrong. He did this
because of the great love that he has for us. You are saved by God’s
grace! And God raised us up and seated us in the heavens with Christ
Jesus. 7 God did this to show future generations the greatness of his
grace by the goodness that God has shown us in Christ Jesus. You are
saved by God’s grace because of your faith.d This salvation is God’s gift.
It’s not something you possessed. It’s not something you did that you
can be proud of.
2. Ephesians 2:4-9
We are God's accomplishment. We are created in Christ to do good
things. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do good things for God's
glory.
Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do
good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we
live our lives.
Ephesians 2:10
We are not saved by faith plus good works, but by a faith that works.
Live the Joy of Jesus knowing that God is with you and empowering
you.
Next week: "Reconciled People of Christ", Ephesians 2:11-22.

IMPORTANT NEWS AND EVENTS
February 9 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Westminster Chapel, Bellevue, WA
Pure HOPE’s Director of Parenting, Dan Martin and Cincinnati Advisory
Board Member, Sean McKay join featured speaker Jon Kitna, former NFL
Quarterback at this conference on becoming a real man in today’s world.
Leading a life of sexual integrity is one of the greatest challenges men
face today. The relentless stream of sexual temptation that is channeled
into our homes and communities through the internet, television
shows, movies, magazines and countless other means wreaks havoc on
Christian men. The challenge is even greater for our young people who
are growing up in such an age. While it’s impossible to avoid sexual
temptations, it is possible to manage them. Higher Ground can help!
This one-day conference, featuring keynote speaker Jon Kitna, former
NFL Quarterback, and multiple breakout seminars led by excellent
teachers, will provide Christian men and teens with practical tools,
resources and encouragement to help them lead lives of integrity and
honor in the face of sexual temptation and destructive messages that
bombard them daily.
