The document presents a study on the fresh and hardened properties of foamed lightweight concrete made with various materials like foaming agent, cement, polypropylene fiber, silica fume, and fly ash. It discusses the objectives to develop foamed concrete with higher strength, workability and performance by reviewing properties with different material mixes. The results show that compressive strength increases with the addition of silica fume and polypropylene fiber, while drying shrinkage decreases with fiber but remains high overall.

 To review the fresh and hardened properties
of foam light weight concrete with various
available materials
 To develop foamed light concrete with higher
strength, workability and better performance.
 To find an alternative for light weight
concrete construction

5. Materials Used
 Foaming agent
 Portland cement
 polypropylene (PP) fiber
 Silica fume
 Fly ash

6. Mix Properties
 ASTM Type I ordinary Portland cement with a 28-day
compressive strength of 72MPa
 Uncompact dry silica fume with 92% SiO2
 Class F fly ash conforming to ASTM C618
 Polypropylene fiber with a length of 10 mm and
diameter of 100μm
 A protein-based foaming agent diluted with water in a
ratio of 1 ∶40 by volume

 Decreased with an increase in foam volume

10. Conclusion and Recommendation
 Compressive strengths of 20 –50MPa can be
produced by using silica fume and PP fiber
 The strength of foamed concrete decreases with
increases in foam volume content.
 The addition of silica fume and PP fiber increased
its compressive strength
 All foamed concretes showed high drying
shrinkage values
 In Bangladesh the foamed concrete can be used in
light weight constructions
