2. The Discovery Of The Perspective’S Rules In Visual
Arts
The discovery of the perspective s rules in visual arts is celebrated as one of the major
turning points in human history, which fueled centuries long advancement and
developments in both artistic creations and scientific or engineering inventions as the
foundation for many breakthroughs of the modern times. It was the bridge between
the middle ages and the early modern period or more specifically the fifteenth century,
during Italian Renaissance, when the law of perspectivewas first introduced,
explained, published and started to become widely adopted by generations of artists,
painters, artist engineers and the like. Art historian and professor Samuel Edgerton,
however, reminds that the event should be rather noted as the rediscovery of... Show

Still, how was he able to accomplish the task? Long story short, he proposed to
construct two domes inside one another during the contest for the dome s design in
1418 and later claimed that he would bind the walls with tension rings of stone,
iron, and wood to control the outward pressure called hoop stress caused by the
structures (Mueller 86). Moreover, Mueller notes that he invented several lifting
machines and didn t use standard ground based scaffolding for the dome s
construction, which made the process less costly and more efficient, giving him a
great advantage over others, plus no one surpassed the lifts he invented for
centuries that followed (86 87). Back to the discovery of perspective or particularly
linear perspective in paintings, Brunelleschi actually figured one point perspective
through an experiment he performed near the unfinished Cathedral on which 11
years later, a huge dome from his designs would be raised, by using a mirror
reflection of a painting of the Florentine baptistry he drew, which was seen through a
hole made on the painting (Edgerton 124 125). Professor Edgerton argues his mirror
demonstration of geometrical nature of pictorial space had implications that extended
to the entire future of Western art and to science and technology from Copernicus to
Einstein (4). The two event is different in a
3. Investigation Of The Hydrolysis Of T Butyl Chloride
Introduction Learning Outcome
This experiment was aimed to determine the order of the hydrolysis reaction and to
determine the effect of water:acetone ratio on the rate constant. Theory
The hydrolysis of t butyl chloride can be presented as the following equation:
(CH3)3CCl + H2O (CH3)3COH + HCl
NaOH is added to neutralise the HCl produced.
NaOH + HCl NaCl + H2O
(CH3)3CCl is a tertiary haloalkane in which the C atom is bonded to 3 methyl
groups and a Cl group. A partial positive charge is formed on the carbon atom due to
the electron withdrawing effect of the electronegative Cl atom, causing carbon to be
susceptible to be attacked by a nucleophile.
The hydrolysis of t butyl chloride is a nucleophilic substitution SN1 reaction which
involves 3 steps.
The reaction mechanism can be portrayed as such: 1st step involves the spontaneous
dissociation of the (CH3)3CCl to form carbocation intermediate and chloride ion.
This is the slow step which determines the rate of reaction.
2nd step involves the carbocation intermediate being attacked by water that acts as a
nucleophile to form protonated alcohol intermediate. This is the fast step and does
not determine rate of reaction.
3rd step involves the proton being donated to the Cl ion to form final products, HCl
and (CH3)3COH.
Since the first step is the rate determining step and it is a pseudo first order reaction,
thus the rate equation can be derived as
Rate= k[(CH3)3CCl](1)
(d[(CH_3 )_3
4. Manifestation Determination Summary
In this video, Jennifer Honig focuses on a manifestation determination for students
on IEPs. Throughout the video, she explained the law and MD process in detail. A
manifestation determination (MD) is a meeting that must be held after a decision to
change the placement of a student with a disability because of a violation of a
student code of conduct (15:44). Basically, it is to see if the student misbehavior was
related to his or her disability.
According to the video, when there is removal such as suspension or placement in
other setting is for up to 10 consecutive days, the school must hold a meeting to make
a MD to review the decision to change placement because of a violation of a code of
student conduct.
The first step is to notice to parents of decision to change placement and of
procedural rights under 34. Then the local educational agency, the parent and relevant
members of the IEP team must attend the MD meeting. In the meeting for MD, they
will review teacher observations, IEP, and all relevant information in the student s
file to determine, if the behavior caused by or directly and ... Show more content on

In this video, I have learned how important it is to gather information about the
student. Sometimes, it is hard for teachers to keep the record or observe the student
because they are too focused on the lesson and teaching the content. However, a good
teacher must not only teach the student but able to observe them too. In my future
classroom, I will gather information about the student through various methods such
as interviews and direct observations. It will be wise to have some kind of easy
techniques to keep the record of the students and to organize it in the classroom. Not
only that I will encourage all of the parents to keep the record of their letters, emails
and any documentations to support their child when they go through the meeting like
5. Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
THINKING, FAST and SLOW Book Project
Thinking, fast and slow written by an empirical researcher and psychologist, Daniel
Kahneman, The book tells us how we can afford to think while we re not even paying
attention. It offers us the paths to better understanding ourselves, how to think
automatically and common, instead of difficult and rare.
The book starts by clarifying the two fundamental modes of thought: system 1 (the
fast thinking system) and system 2 (the slow thinking system). System 1 is fast,
automatic, effortless, and intuitive. And it cannot be turned off. While, system 2 is
slow, effortful and lazy. But in all, system 2 is a very supportive system.
Ranking the book between 0 and 10; I will give the book a good 8.5/10. It s simply a
lovely book; amongst all other self help or pop psychology books I think Thinking fast
and slow is the Godfather.
The book is divided into 5 parts, and each part is further divided into sections. The
short sections make it easy to read, easy to access and navigate around. I wished I
read it very slowly. I will surely recommend it to friends, and people that want to be
aware of their motives.
TWO SYSTEMS
A good portion of part 1 is spent telling us about the two systems, system 1 and
system 2. System 1 operates automatically and quickly with no effort applied to it.
While system 2, allocates attention to effortful mental computation.
Daniel Kahneman points out that there are not too many fundamental ways of

6. Labelling Theory
Throughout the course of history, criminologists have dedicated their lives to
answering two fundamental questions which could potentially expose what makes
individuals within society predisposed towards criminal behaviour what makes a
criminal a criminal? Can anyone become criminal? However, understanding crime
and criminality in itself is a relatively complex and multifaceted topic, as a vast array
of theories are continually investigated, both individually and in combination, with
the objective to one day answer this lingering issue. Labelling theory and biological
positivism are two such theories within contemporary society that share this
overarching goal. Rising to prominence in the 1960s, labelling theory has produced a
great deal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory therefore suggests that criminology has been given too much attention
to criminals as types of people and insufficient attention to the collection of social
control responses. That therefore means the law, the police, the media and the
public publications helps to give crime its shape. This is supported by the conflict
theory which demonstrates how deviance reflects inequalities and power. This
approach holds that the causes of crime may be linked to inequalities of class, race
and gender and that who or what is labelled as deviant depends on the relative power
of categories of people. While social labels commonly comprise a part of the cultural
framework that people draw on to define and categorize the social world, deviant
labels are unique in that they are stigmatizing labels or markers this assumption is
fundamental to labelling theory. Moreover, deviant labels are linked with stigma,
meaning that the contemporary culture has attached specific, more often than not
negative metaphors or stereotypes to deviant labels evident within

In 1943, he got married with Shareen Amin Begum, who was left by Bhutto to

the year 1957, when the Bhutto became the youngest member of Pakistan s

under President Ayub Khan. He was famous for his demagogic styles of speech, which
brought him to national prominence and popularity.
His rise in politics and higher echelons of power was due to his mysteriously sharp
mind coupled with cunning desire to be on the top of the national politics. His astute
political manoeuvrings can be gauged from the fact that on the eve of India China
war in 1962, the rulers of China invited Pakistan to jointly dismember India by
attacking on North East and Laddakh and Pakistan from Jammu side in Jammu and
Kashmir to grab the maximum territory. Pakistan could fulfil their wish by taking
Kashmir and China would grab entire North East to come closure to Indian Ocean.
Bhutto disclosed the plan to General Ayub Khan the President of Pakistan but got
rebuked for such a loathsome and outrageous suggestion, rather was suggested that
Pakistan should have Joint Defence Agreement with India. Bhutto was aghast and
made a sorry exit, calling Ayub Khan a political bankrupt.

Discuss the pros and cons of implementing a nationwide road pricing scheme The
introduction of a nationwide road pricing scheme has been extensively considered in
the UK. Early deliberations in the Smeed Report implemented road pricing in 1962
using a colour coding system. With computing and telecommunications changes in
recent years there is potential for the road pricing scheme, which was a component
of the labour manifesto in 2005 using satellite navigation to track vehicle activity, to
be developed and implemented. The concept of introducing a market for roads
through road pricing has become a highly discussed topic due to the complexity of
the operation and how it could revolutionise the actions of drivers in the future with a

People in a lower income bracket will be the ones who are hit hardest and have to
change their driving behaviour as the road pricing is independent of income,
exhibiting price inelasticity. This increase in inequality which could be a result of
road pricing can be illustrated using the Lorenz curve which shows the distribution
of wealth, with increased inequality leading to a shift away from the line of
equality as shown by the arrow showing a higher proportion of income going to a
smaller proportion of people. There is a correlation between work flexibility and
income so people with less income will have to pay the peak time charges and the
Lorenz curve will shift. As the main aim of the scheme is to reduce congestion
people may feel as though they are being Priced off the roads. The Gini Co
efficient shows distribution between households, it was recorded that following
the London Toll introduction, the co efficient increased from 0.2778 to 0.2785.
Changes in road pricing have not been perceived well by the public in the UK. The
scheme has been viewed as an invasion of privacy due to the tracking technology.
After a referendum in Edinburgh the widespread political opposition was reflected
in the vote: 74% of people voted against the plan . An online petition against road
pricing was signed by 1.8 million people showing the depth of feeling against road
pricing. However, with the highest fuel duty in the world being increased above
inflation each year, UK

Summary of the Article
The authors think using appropriate graphs or charts with color and good title makes
audience easy to understand the contents. First, choosing correct graphs and charts.
Each graph and chart has a different function. For example, Pie chart shows the
percentage of a whole. Understanding the function of graphs and charts is important
to tell messages. Second, using color. They think the foregrounding color for texts
must opposite color to the background color, because audience can read and
understand the main points easily. Third, deciding preferable title. Title should be
simple and help the audience to get to the point of graph and chart. The authors say
using graphs and charts is also useful in a document. However, people should put
them with introduction to make readers understand what they mean, and put them
near the arguments to emphasize the point. People shouldn t use many of graphs and
charts because they give audience less impression (Lynch and Golen, 2002).

14. The On The Flip Side
On the flip side, Gunter argues that Iraq enjoys a glowing and vibrant underground
economy that is a direct side effect of its bureaucracy and corruption. Private
businesses in Iraq must choose between seeking to become a legal enterprise, which
due to regulatory hostility is a difficult and expensive process, or operating in the
underground economy with all of the associated inefficiencies. One characteristic
common to both options is the necessity of paying bribes to a long line of corrupt
officials. One survey of corruption in Iraqshowed that one fifth of private businesses
reported paying 40% or more of their firm s total revenues in bribes. Excluding
agriculture, an estimated 6% of the labor force is employed by private legal
enterprises while 20% is employed in the underground economy. Firms in the
underground economy tend to be small scale, engaged in services or light
manufacturing. In many cases, underground entities are engaged in illegal
activities such as selling black market fuel or smuggling across Iraq s long open
borders. However, other underground firms are engaged in other wise legal
activities that are concealed to avoid the choice of meeting arduous regulations or
paying bribes to inspectors to ignore violations. As expected, workers in the
underground economy lack legal protections and there are stories of workers being
denied pay or even physically abused. Generally firms in Iraq s underground
economy are very inefficient. This inefficiency arises
15. George Grenville Sugar Act And Stamp Act Of 1765
The Stamp Act
To the people of England, this act was one of the significant act as the Parliament
had been collecting tax money from the colonists for everything. Moreover, the
colonists are required to put tax stamps on many documents such as newspapers
and letters. But the colonists did not want this act to happen as they had to pay
more tax which must be in the British currency. The act was passed by parliament
on March 22, 1765 and it became effective on November 1, 1765 (Tindall and Shi,
193). This act came to practice to assists the troops of England and for keeping
American frontier safe. This act was not a practical act because the colonist had

point for both England and the colonies and it was one of the major cause of the
American Revolution. Daniel Dulany gave a speech where he supported the colonists
about the tax should not be imposed to them without their permission. He also
emphasis that the commerce will be finished for Parliament if the colonists resistance
would not come into consideration. Parliament s decision on tax did not receive any
impacts by the resolution due to the huge commercial pressure. But after one year of
fighting, in 1766, Parliament were forced to withdraw the Stamp
16. Inflation Is A Serious Imbalance
Inflation is considered to be one of the most harmful economic phenomena that
manifest in contemporary economies, being considered a chronic disease difficult
to control, which can cause recessions (Thornton, 2012, p. 119). Inflation is a
serious imbalance in the currently economy and is represented by a generalized
increase in prices and a simultaneous decrease in the purchasing power of the
national currency. It is a final indicator that shows at the end of a fiscal period if the
monetary, fiscal and legal policies were coordinating and were leading to consumer
price stability. Deflation is often defined as the opposite of inflation, namely as a
situation where there is a general decrease in prices over a long period of time.

As it can be seen in figure 1, CPI (as reported by the Federal Reserve Bank of St.
Louis FRED) recorded an upward general trend over time. After the crisis of
1980s, a period which was preceded by the Great Inflation from 1965 to 1984, the
CPI encountered a strong increase which held (with some small variations, as in the
1990s and 2000s) till the beginning of 2008, when the financial crisis struck the
economy. After 2008 2010 (a period with low rates), the consumer price index started
to increase, with small variations.
Figure 2. Trimmed Mean PCE Inflation Rate for U.S. (quarterly data) Source: FRED
Looking at figure 2 above, we can observe that the level of inflation (as a percent
change) has experienced a maximum for the recovery period in 2012 of nearly 2
percent. After this point, the decreasing trend was retaken. The Trimmed Mean PCE
inflation rate is another method to measure the inflation in the price index of the
personal consumption expenditures (PCE). Here it must be noted that FED
practiced an inflation target policy of about 2 percent, specified since the beginning
of 2012. The 2 percent target was mostly a reinforcement of the FED commitment
of low inflation rates and a ratifying of a policy which was practiced for a long time.
The 2 percent path was maintained since 1995 (Williamson, 2014, p. 112).
The imbalances of the price level stability are caused mainly by the monetary mass
17. Analysis Of The Blackbird Call In Grief
Death is a spiritual experience that is flush with taboo connotations. When a loved
one leaves this life for the after there are tears and grieving. This occurrence has been
used countless times throughout history to commemorate the passing of a loved one,
this makes it difficult to produce a piece of poetrythat discussed death in a way it
has not been discussed before. In The New Oxford Book of Irish Verse poem 67
which will be referred to as The blackbird calls in grief , poem 108 which will be
referred to as There are three ways to await death , and All That is Left...by Michael
Hartnett discuss this taboo topic in new and interesting ways. These poems are
distinct because of the way that the author represents death. These poems are related
and similar while being vastly different.
The blackbird calls in grief is an anonymously written poem from the twelfth
century. The narrator of the poem laments the story of the death of loved ones. In
the poem, the narrator laments to a blackbird and mourns the passing of both their
families. The bird is personified by the narrator. In this poem, the death is of two
families, the birds, and the mans. The harm now happened to him/ not long since
happened to me (Kinsella 85). An analogy is created equating the loss of the two
families and the injustice of the loss. The seventh stanza questions God, O You who
made the world, / Your bias is hard to bear:/ friends all around me are spared, / their

18. The Suez Crisis and Sir Antony Eden
The Suez Crisis is often cited by some historians as one of the worst historical
decisions that imprinted an indelible mark on the then British premier Sir Antony
Eden. More often than not the decision by Eden to invade Egypt following a
disagreement about nationalization of the Suez Canal is often cited as a the worst
foreign policy decision that destroyed Eden political career and humiliated British
empirein its wake. The decision by Eden to use military force against Nasser is
often viewed by many as arising from a personal grudge towards Nasser, while only
a few defend the fact that Eden had attempted to resolve the looming conflict
peacefully.
A Brief Introduction about Sir Robert Antony Eden It is unfortunate that despite Sir
Antony Eden having successfully served as Britain for three decades as a foreign
secretary and his subsequent rise to become the British prime minister in 1955 was
overshadowed by the 1956 Suez Crisis that saw him tender his resignation after
serving approximately 18 months in office. While justifying this action, Eden cited
that he was protecting British commercial interests of which the recent
nationalization of the Suez Canal by Nasser seemed to threaten. Eden strongly
perceived Nasser as a dictator and that his actions could easily be replicated with the
actions of Hitler and Mussolini that subsequently ignited World War.
Born to a baronet in County Durham on 12 June 1987, Antony Eden was educated at
Eton and oxford where he

High diversity is associated with a low risk of obesity and many diseases. He and
a colleague wanted to do an experiment to see if intestinal health could improve in

The Hadza are one of the last groups of hunter gatherers in Africa Sparks 2 and they
have a very diverse microbiome. During the study, they foraged for baobab fruit
and kongorobi berries, which are high in fiber and vitamin C. They also stalked
and killed porcupines and hyrax which they cooked over a fire. Meat, carcass, and
organs were eaten, nothing of nutritional value is wasted. They dug tubers from the
ground and collected honey from a comb on a tree branch. There were many perils
during the trip. Aside from bee stings and sharp porcupine needles, they had to be
wary of snakes and scorpions. The meals they dined on may not have been the
tastiest, but they were packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Throughout the
adventure, Tim was producing stool samples that would be analyzed for microbe

The good news was my gut microbial diversity increased 20%, including totally

contenders, including Sir Francis Bacon. Because of the incredible number of
coincidences between Shakespeare and Bacon, it is obvious that Bacon wrote
Shakespeare. Firstly, the actor William Shakespeare, who is the supposed author of
Shakespeare s works, could not have written them. He had no formal education
after thirteen, was from a small provincial town, was a professional actor, had two
daughters who were illiterate, didn t mention any of his works in his will, and
whose only surviving handwriting is six signatures on legal documents
(Rubenstein 69). Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest authors in history,
and without a formal education the intricacy of his work would be impossible. It
should also be put in consideration that many of Shakespeare s works were not only
published but edited after his death. From the publication of The Taming of the
Shrew in 1594 to the publication of the First Folio in 1623, 4,936 new lines were
added to the plays, a majority of which were added posthumously (sirbacon). This
in itself is evidence enough to disprove Shakespeare entirely. Unlike William
Shakespeare, Sir Francis Bacon was very well qualified to have written Shakespeare s
works. Bacon was a highly educated Member of
21. How Far Had the Bolsheviks Created a Totalitarian State ...
A totalitarian state, is a where the central government of a state does not tolerate
any parties with opposing views and exercises complete dictatorial rule over all or
most aspects of life. Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks, took many measures in an
attempt to create a totalitarian state, including the dissolution of Constituent
Assembly, the use of decrees and the establishment of a secret police group called
the Cheka. However there were also some ways in which he failed to achieve full
totalitarianism. The most basic characteristics of a Totalitarian state, are lack of free
speech and state control over the media. This is important to establish social control
over the state. Lenin s described free speech as bourgeois prejudice ,... Show more

The creation of the secret police and the establishment of the gulags and labour
camps, are signs that Lenin had created a successful totalitarian state, and could assert
physical control over the people. The introduction of War Communism during the
Russian Civil War, is evidence of Russian moving towards a Totalitarian State. Many
aspects of War communism were totalitarian in nature. For instance the creation of a
Supreme Economic Council, formed to take complete control over the Russian
highlights the central control over the most vital aspect of the state, that the
Bolsheviks enforced. Other measures include the requisitioning of excess grain from
the Peasants. Many of these policies were met with opposition, particularly among
the agricultural peasants. This opposition was in turn met with brutal force, which
was another example of the nature of complete state authority. War communism
continued on until the end of the Civil war, by which time the Bolshevik forces had
succeeded in crushing all opposition. The success of the red forces meant that Russia
was a step closer in becoming a Totalitarian state, as they were now the most powerful
party in Russia, with complete control over all its territory. Upon the creation of the
USSR, Lenin introduced new rule that would ensure greater totalitarian control. Only
communists would be able to stand for the soviets, and so this meant that the
communist party had the true control over the

24. Analysis Of Primo Levi s The Gray Zone
Primo Levi s book, Survival in Auschwitz, examines how a select few managed to
survive the inhumane and brutal treatment of the Jews in Auschwitz. The well
known Italian Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi was only 24 years old, when he was
captured and taken to a detention camp in Fossoli, before spending eleven months in
Auschwitz. He, like so many other innocent Jews, was sent to die in the death camp
but with a little bit luck and resourcefulness, he survived. In his essay, The Gray
Zone Levi, writes privileged prisoners were a minority within the Lager [camp]
population; nevertheless they represent a potent majority among survivors (The Gray
Zone,117), where he examines the middle ground between Nazi soldiers and the
Jewish prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone in the Lager is responsible for oneself, and no one could afford to help his
or her neighbor because one act of kindness could get you killed. Levi shares the
story of Alfred L, a successful young engineer, arrested and sent to Auschwitz. In
his own country, L. was the director of an important factory chemical product and
its name was (and is) well known in industrial circles throughout Europe (Levi 93).
Primo Levi wants to make it clear to the reader that, for Alfred to reach the highest
position of director and be able to survive the camps he had to be determined,
motivated and intelligent. According to the author, Alfred always tried to separate
himself from the rest of the Häftling and made an effort to keep himself clean and
put together. He also made it a priority to always treat others with kindness and
respect. Alfred did not give up hope like so many others, in the camps, he adapted
to his situation the best way he could. He separated himself from the other
prisoners and made himself known. He carried himself with discipline and respect,
which made him an asset to the Nazis. By acting differently than the other prisoners,
Alfred was able to get a better job as the technical head of the Chemical Kommando.
According to Levi ... L. was able to earn all this show of prosperity with incredible
tenacity, paying for his acquisitions
25. The Roles Of The Role Of Sita In Ramayana
Abstract:
Sita is the only woman who captures the attention of readers and audience in the
Indian epic poem Ramayana. Sita has been interpreted several times for the way her
life had been. She is born of the earth and gets consumed by the earth. Sita s
biological parents are not known. But the mother of Sita is a God. While living the
life of a human, this God incarnate figure of Goddess Lakshmi is the foster
daughter of King Janaka who takes care of her and brings her up with all the love
and care but then finally offers her in marriage after the swayamvara. Looking closely
at this, we find that Sita even though without biological inheritance could not be
outside the patriarchal realm where the daughter would be offered to a man in
marriage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goddess incarnate fails to project her potentiality as a Goddess. She stays back
within the lakshmanrekha, further making it evident that incarnation has no
significance and the earthly woman is in need of protection. This frail act of Sita at
that moment nullifies the power of goddess incarnate and emphasizes only on the
earthly frail nature of women or the weaker sex is highlighted. Sita fails.
Sita gets deeper and deeper into the circles of patriarchy. The lakshmanrekha, the
supreme metaphor for women s restricted movement.
According to the diasporic perspective the mythological figure of Sita projects an
ambivalent function of a subservient wife and a powerful symbol emanating
resistance to maintain her obedience till the end. (Vogt William, 2014). Sita instructs
Lakshman in the beginning to go and protect her husband as depicted in the poem
and then when Lakshman does not abide by her, she is seen as a transfigured human
entity of a woman rather than an ethereal entity of supernatural attributes has been
worshipped for ages by the people as a goddess.
Lakshman logically tries to assure the safety of Ram to

Schlosser explains about one of the most famous and richest men, J.R. Simplot,
who was born in 1909 in Idaho and grew up farming, helping and working with his
family. He dropped out of high school at the age of fifteen and decided to leave
home. When he left home, he soon found work in a potato house. He then became
a potato farmer who worked for Lindsay Maggart who was the landlord and was
quite good at what he does. He was buying and selling potatoes and he even
became one of the leading transporters of potatoes in the West. He was selling
potatoes from left to right. Simplot even bought a machine, an electric potato
sorter. The machine was purchased by him and Maggart. When they decide to part
ways in their business, hey flipped a coin to see who would have to keep it and it
was him. Luck was definitely on his side. Simplot was making a lot of selling
potatoes and during the World War II; he sold dried onions and dried potatoes to
the American military during the time. Simplot who a smart man, who even started
to invest in freezing food and began selling frozen fries to the company McDonalds.
Since the taste was similar to the fresh cut fries in stores and also cheaper. McDonald

Today there are three potato companies Simplot, Lamb Weston, and McCain that

27. The AH-1 Cobra
The AH 1 Cobra was the first dedicated gunship to engage in frontline battles
anywhere in the world. Based on the Bell UH 1 Huey airframe and developed as a
private venture, it proved to be a huge success once it entered combat in Vietnam.
This was one of the few U.S. Army aircraft to have actual combat experience being
put into the design of the airframe. The Cobra successfully provided aerial gun
support and fire suppression for the vulnerable transport and airmobile aircraft. The
overwhelming success it had in real world battle was the beginning of the armed
gunship style helicopters being used by the U.S. Military. Armed helicopters came
into widespread use in Vietnam in the early Sixties. Limitations of the modified
armed utility helicopters like the Huey gunships led to the specially configured
attack helicopter known as the Cobra. While the US Army went forward with its
sophisticated AAFSS (advanced aerial fire support system) program to make a
dedicated attack helicopter, Bell ran its own company sponsored prototype, the Bell

desperate need in Vietnam, was entered into combat in September 1967, just a few
short years after its initial design. It became obvious that this was what was needed
in Vietnam so Army orders ramped up quickly. By mid 1968, 838 AH 1 helicopters
had been produced. From then it went through several modifications and upgrades
during the course of the war to increase its survivability and effectiveness.
Eventually, the US Army dropped the Huey name and it was known as the Cobra or

29. Woman Hollering Creek By Sandra Cisneros
The book Woman Hollering Creek, by Sandra Cisneros highlights many examples of
everyday verbal mythology in the Hispanic culture, literacy and language as sites of
conflict build up. The violence in lack of translation, interpretation by translators,
culture betrayal and existence of encoded language only familiar to insiders are some
of the issues that seems not to appeal to the translators.
The sufferings and subordination of both the culture and language by the leading
culture is accompanied by other elements that erupt from unconscious of the book s
author to make things work for its conscious signification. The author says that [The
poem is] Pretty in Spanish. But you ll have to take my word for it. In English it just
sounds goofy. (161). this clearly highlights the issue of untranslatability of the
discourse subordinated culture to the dominant languages. The untranslatability of the
Spanish language, the unpronounceability of Spanish and Amerindian name and the
invisibility of silencing of Chicanos are all figured out by Sandra. Spanish operates in
the text as a sign of insider status, specifically the bilingual Spanglish which,
according to Castillo s poet narrator, is spoken with an outrag accent splattered with
Chicanismos, one could only assume was done with some intention (54). The
character, Cleofilas, calls the mixture Spanish pocked with English, the metaphor,
perhaps inadvertently, evoking disfigurement and disease (55).

31. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Speeding
Driving above the posted speed limit is known as speeding. Drivers may also be
driving at a speed that is too fast for existing conditions. Speeding is a main factor
in the severity and the number of accidents that occur. This includes residential
roads and highways. The reason is due to the way that any increase in the speed of
a vehicle affects the reaction time of the driver. A driver will have less time to react
and less time to come to a stop.
Another aspect to keep in mind is a vehicle traveling at a faster rate of speed will
result in more energy be absorbed when an impact occurs. One interesting aspect
about speeding is drivers often to not know their reaction time decreases at high
speeds. The reason for this is the brain requires time to realize that a danger is
present and to process a reaction, such as braking. ... Show more content on

The average time for most people to react to situations when driving is about 1.5
seconds. If a driver is on a mobile phone or distracted in another way will often take

accident.
Speeding will increase the baking distance and the reaction distance. This means a
speeding driver will cover a greater distance than a slower driver when a viewing and
reacting to a situation. The end result is a speeding driver is much more likely to
crash their vehicle. Another aspect to keep in mind is speed will also be a factor to
the severity level of a crash. Vehicle control can also be compromised whenever a
driver is traveling at a higher rate of speed. The reason is being able to maneuver is
diminished when taking evasive action or when taking a sharp

Comparing Art of the Renaissance and the Baroque Eras
The Renaissance and the Baroque eras created some of the most famous works of
art produced in the world. The two eras expressed differences in style and theme, but
they also have many characteristics in common. To better understand the similarities
of the eras it will be described by the characteristics, styles and the influences of each;
Renaissance and Baroque works of art. Famous artist from the Renaissance era were
Leonard da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti. Famous artist from the Baroque era
were Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and Michelangelo Merisi o Amerighi da

The Renaissance History
The Renaissance era began in Italy, spread to the rest of Europe and lasted from the
14th to the 17th century. It was defined as a period of cultural history that represented
a break from the Middle Ages and an understanding of humanity ( Italian Renaissance
, 2014). The Renaissance began at the end of the black plaque. For the survivors there
were opportunities and these opportunities brought about the artistic breakthroughs. It
became the era of rebirth for society; learning and culture. The era was influenced by
conflict between the Catholics and the Protestants, during this time, society explored
religious options other than the Roman Catholic Church, they explored new beliefs;
the power of the Church had decreased.
At first, the subject matter was about religion, saints, Christ, the love of life and

35. The Influence Of The Puritans
Just how pure were the Puritans? The Puritan era in the United States during the
early 1600 s proved to be a controversial time period. As settlers to the new land
were escaping the grasp of the British monarchy, they brought with them new
religious, cultural, and fundamental ideals. Among these ideals is a rather peculiar
belief. Would you believe that the Puritans were against celebrating Christmas?
Yes, it seems odd for such a pure Christian society to oppose the celebration of their
Savior s birth; they even banned it! Accordingly, the fact that the Puritans were
opposed to the Christmas holiday is absurd. First and foremost, the Puritans viewed
Christmas as a holiday that was observed with more revelry than piety and in that
regard was not proper in the eyes of the Lord. It was in their eyes a commercial
celebration rather than that of actually celebrating the birth of Jesus. However, the
bottom line is that even on a materialistic note, the holiday provoked Christ like
behavior. Even if people became distant from the actual intention of Christmas (the

unnecessary retributions on any person who dared to celebrate Christmas in the

How does the water quality of tap and filtered water on campus
compare to bottled water?
Background Information
Potable water is becoming more available in modern society and there are more
ways of accessing it than before. On Georgia College s campus it can be accessed
through bottled, filtered and tap water. In some places, droughts are affecting the
amount of clean water when surface water is the main source for drinking water
(Leland et al 1993). This can cause water quality concerns that lead to people buying
bottled water rather than using tap water. Studies have been conducted that show
positive aspects for both tap and bottled water use (Doria 2006). Depending on the

There might be a leak somewhere in the area if excessive amounts of coliform
bacteria is found in the water (Kissel 2014). Iron, although considered an aesthetic
contaminant, has no ill health effects and may have some benefits. The experiment
will test water from on campus sources and compare them in terms quality as a
source of drinking water. The tap water should have the best water quality compared
to filtered and bottled water.
Ideally, all major sources of potable water should be safe and contain reasonable
levels of contaminants/additives due to the passing of the Safe Drinking Water Act
(SDWA) in 1974. Although the SDWA has gone through numerous changes over the
years to accommodate for the widening body of knowledge concerning drinking
water safety, its main purpose is to set legal limits of harmful substances and
encourage reasonable monitoring of said substances. The EPA cannot and does not
directly monitor the levels of harmful substances in drinking water, but it does require
strict monitoring (including reports when fecal contamination is detected) and
regulates water sources to ensure the safety of the public.
Bottled water is required to follow the same regulations that municipal water is.
Oftentimes, this is because the sources of bottled water is virtually identical. The
FDA regulates the labeling of bottled water and with enough general knowlege about
the labeling process, one can determine

and knowledgable boy, he does have a few weaknesses, as every human does. One
of his weaknesses is that near the end of the novel, the young boy ditches his faith in
God and his prayers, and turns to his anger and revenge from the way he has been
treated in the past. The boy (who remains unnamed throughout the book) says, How
many times had I dreamed of the time when I would be strong enough to return, set
their settlements on fire, poison their children and cattle, lure them into deadly
swamps...eventually my hatred and appetite for evil would grow like a noxious
weed... This shows how the narrator s hopeful attitude
40. Death Comes For The Archbishop Analysis
Death Comes for the Archbishop Reflection Paper
During the reading of unit three s Death comes for the Archbishop, God is easily
shown through the reading in book 5, primarily shown through Bishop Latour and
Padre Martinez during their discussion on celibacy. Knowing Padre Martinez is
strong willed and harsh minded person, their conversation on celibacy became
somewhat heated, but a learning experience for Bishop Latour. Bishop Latour was
able to understand much more about Padre Martinez by putting himself him Padre
Martinez s shoes during the conversation. He lowered his believes and standards,
showing humility, in a graceful way to see what was trying to be communicated to
him. Through this, he was able to see how Padre Martinez sees God
41. The Importance Of Monitoring The Internet
In the United States of America, we enjoy many freedoms such as freedom of speech
and freedom of the press. Today, we could rightly add freedom of internet use.
However, with every freedom comes those who would abuse it. Cyberbullies, hackers,
ransomware users, etc. Does this abuse of the internet indicate that the U.S.
Government has a duty to protect its citizens by monitoring internetcontent?
Unless and until we give up our freedom of the internet the duty of monitoring it is
ours. Giving that responsibility to the government would actually pose several
problems as well as a solution. For one thing, the government does not have the
ability to personally read and check everything that is said or done on the internet.
That being said, monitoring would be done using a key word system. Words such
as blast, bomb, ammo, and guns could cause the user to either investigated or the
context of the phase or word would have to be personally read and evaluated. This
would pose a problem of personal privacy. Also, if the monitors were human, they
would have to be completely non biased have a standard of right and wrong.
Furthermore, hiding messages through internet encryption would be relatively simple
for many people. Another concern is the government takeover of the media. Since
many news broadcasters use the internet as their broadcasting service it would be
trivially easy for the government to control news output.
With all that in mind, the internet should not go unmonitored.
42. How Did Ando Hokusai Impact Art
To what extent did Katsushika Hokusai s art influence the works of Ando Hiroshige
and what was its significance on Japanese art?
Introduction:
The raw power of nature has always been inspirational to artists all around the world.
Art is associated to what we experience on a daily basis, however it represents some
kind of transformation to the everyday, to something that is not actually entirely real,
it can t be found by simply locating it, it requires human intervention. Art maybe seen
as the fingerprint of our existence in the world that has its impact on things we
transform through the use of our imagination.
For centuries, humans, cultures and civilizations have been portraying daily aspects
of life through the use of art. Art does not only include painting, as it ranges from

Artists from the early Japanese civilizations had a great impact on art, specifically
artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Ando Hiroshige, many of these artists pieces
had a great impact on each other, and this impact is also significant in Japanese art.
This leads to the essay question, To what extent did Katsushika Hokusai s art
influence the works of Ando Hiroshige and what was its significance on Japanese
art? which will analyze the impact these artists had on each other and how was that
impact prominent in the field of Japanese art.
The purposes of this essay is to inspect and analyze some of the works of some of
Japan s most famous artists, and compare the artworks with each other in order to
find out the extent of which Hokusai s arts were influential on Ando Hiroshige. An
artwork by each artists is analyzed in terms of structural and conceptual

( McDonald s Wordmark ) ( McDonald s Prix ) ( Nos Menus ) By: Austin Gardner
2 1 January 28, 2015 Ms. Chalmers Introduction McDonald s is a multinational fast
food hamburger chain. The company was founded in 1940 by two brothers named
Maurice and Richard McDonald ( McDonald s ). McDonald s currently has over
35,000 restaurants and serve over 68 million customers a day on average ( History
of ). The fast food giant makes 28 billion dollars annually, and are the largest fast
food chain in the world ( McDonald s ). That calculates to 75 million dollars a day,
which is unreal. This paper will examine the working conditions of the employees.
( McDonald s Across the World ) History In 1937 Richard and Maurice s father
decided to open a food stand as a hobby ( History of ). Orange juice and hamburgers
were sold below market price ( History of ) In fact, burgers were originally sold for
only 15 cents (Gilbert, 8). After three years, the two brothers realized that their
father s business was actually very profitable. Richard and Maurice decided to
lease a building and open up a drive in restaurant, to make larger production
possible; they named it McDonald s Bar B Q and the soon to be fast food giant had
begun ( History of ). The restaurant the brothers opened was a drive in, and was an
instant hit. In 1948, the McDonald brothers decided that it was time to open a sit
down restaurant in which their main priority was efficiency ( History
44. Tole Bunion Progression
According to Dr. Joseph G. DiPrima Fairport, NY s top podiatrist when pressure is
applied on the big toe joint, it causes the big toe to gradually lean toward the second
toe. As this happens, the bone structure on the foot starts to change, and this causes a
bony bump, known as a bunion, to occur. These bumps can be incredibly painful and
might affect the person from wearing shoes or even walking. The good news is that
with proper bunion treatment pressure can be reduced on the big toe and help to
correct footdeformities.
Along with treatment prescribed by your foot doctor, here are a few exercises that
will help slow bunion progression, decrease symptoms, and increase your foot s
flexibility:

45. Homeland Security And Homeland Defense
Introduction
Since the September 11, 2001 events, the United States of America gravitated
towards a more aggressive approach in its security. The result of the tragic events was
the establishment of homeland security. The White House, the federal government
and the Congress joined together to establish it. On September 20, 2001, President
George W. Bush issued an executive order 13228 to establish an Office of Homeland
Security within the White House and assigning the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom
Ridge as its Director (Bullock, Haddow, Coppola, 2013, p. 4). Ever since, the
United States (U.S.) Department of Homeland Security diversified and evolved the
way it is today. The Homeland Defense was also integrated into Homeland Security
to protect the U.S. soil and its territories. However, what are Homeland Security and
Homeland Defense? This paper will address those question as well as covering their
missions/goals, tasks, duties, and responsibilities. In addition, a section of this paper
is the assessment of the critical infrastructure protection programs of the U.S. The
assessment will also include the overall capability of the nation s critical
infrastructure protection program to ensure the survivability of its critical
infrastructure.
Homeland Security There are numerous definitions of homeland security. The
definitions can create confusion on what homeland security really do. One definition
of homeland security that it is easy to understand is according

48. Permanency In The Time Machine
Scientific research often emphasizes a common goal of creating perfection within
humanity; the wish to manipulate nature to gain superiority technologically is a
theme Wells touches upon in The Time Machine: ...[the] perfect state lack[s] one
thing even for mechanical perfection absolute permanency... however it [is] affected,
[it] become[s] disjointed (120). During the Victorian Era technology was just starting
to become mechanized, this Industrial Revolution sought the perfection of machinery
to perfect and create ease of work ( Victorian Britain ). Wells quote stays relevant as
the industrial revolution s technology has gotten more precise, and more perfect to
this day; it shows that perfection of an era is neither permanent nor achievable....

During the Industrial Revolution extravagance was on the rise especially when
looked at by the Crystal Palace, built in England during this era ( Victorian Britain
). The Crystal Palace was the hallmark of England s industrial successes, as each
new invention was exhibited for the enjoyment of the people who had the time to
enjoy such leisure rather than work where minimal labor laws were set in place (
Victorian Britain ). The Time Machine has its very own Crystal Palace too: the tall
pinnacles of the Palace of Green Porcelain and the polished gleam of its walls
came back to memory (Wells 54). In The Time Machine, the Eloi flex their
technological might: (Wells 64). The Morlocks work underground, they are the
workers with no protection, who later retaliate the oppression of the Eloi by taking
them for meals instilling fear into the upper world dwellers; (Wells 100). The fact
that Eloi who and rely on the Morlock s to power the many machines they rely on to
live, adds commentary on where Wells sees society heading due to the rise of
materialism and consumerism. The Pixar film, Wall E, alludes to this reliance on
technology in the description of the overweight people sitting in
49. How To Start Boxing Essay
Often people who are either starting boxing or planning to follow a career in the
field may have quite naive ideas about the gear they have to use to train on
professional grounds. Boxing is a sport that requires a lot of coordination and
training of your hands, you will be developing throughout the years how to handle
and balance the power of your hands and special pair of boxing gloves are essential
to reach outstanding results, specially because you will not be training only one kind
of technique or practicing one single exercise, all that requires a flexible set of
equipment to fulfill all your needs, so you have to think about different pair of gloves
for different applications while training.
For solo training, you might face several different sets of punching bags, though the
most simple training exercises may start only with the speed punching bag, which
will work out your skills on speed, hands coordination the movement to switch from
one hand to the other as well as your mental ability to focus on the movements of
the speed bag and hit it in synch. Speed bags are quite lite, so the best boxing gloves

What is one activity that comes natural to you? For Roy Hobbs that activity is
baseball. In Bernard Malamud s The Natural , Roy eats, breathes, and sleeps
baseball. He is said to have natural talent that some describe as supernatural.
Although Roy undoubtedly has natural talent, Roy and every other professional
athlete puts in countless days training, practicing, and studying their sport.
However, with all of Roy s hard work and talent, he is seen as a bad figure to many
people, which causes him many problems in his career. Roy Hobbs has a deep
emotional love for baseball; this passion drives him to overcome many obstacles
during his career, and is ultimately the reason for his success and achievements. Roy

that this is what the judge is asking him to do. (Overview: The Natural, pg.5) Even

51. The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling
n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in
group counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to
take note of the proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause
both at personal and professional levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent
of antagonism between or among the conflicting parties, it is very important for the
counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral treatment or
attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are
concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse
and mutual consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a
conflict mediator between couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized
that conflicting persons when undergoing counseling, more often that not, harbor and
exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical behaviors, this is to expose the
opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show that they are
the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling
should be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling
within a group setting, calls for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that
he/she is not carried away by the different and confusing behaviors and sentiments of
the conflicting parties.

52. Charles Darwin Contributions
No other author has had more of an impact on the way we think about the world
around us than Charles Darwin has. From research labs, to classrooms, Darwin s
scientific findings and literary work have greatly influenced how we see the living
world. A true scientific pioneer, Darwin shocked the highly religious people of his
time by sharing his findings and theories about evolution in his book On the Origin
of Species. The theories in his book continue to impact the way the natural world is
seen today, but they were not always well received. (Desmond) Walter Karp makes
note of this in his book Charles Darwinand the Origin of Species: All species of
living things had developed solely through the working of a certain natural process
that Darwin had discovered and no revealed in his book... In the history of science
no theory was ever so instantly and savagely attacked, (Karp 11). Despite
skepticism and resistance from others, Charles Darwin managed to be one of the
greatest influences on society and science of all time, and his theories have become
the basis for many scientific breakthroughs and secular arguments. Charles Darwin
was born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12, 1809 to a Dr. Robert Darwin and
Susannah Wedgwood (Karp 11). From an early age, Darwin took an interest in the
sciences even though it was condemned by the religious English public schools at the
time. Eventually, he reached university where he met a professor and mentor who
proposed a trip to
53. Job Reflection
The book of Job is the testimony of a man named Job. Job was very wealthy and
walked an upright and blameless life (sparknotes). God spoke well about Job and
when Satan overheard, he challenged to make Job s life miserable in order to ruin
Job s walk with God. One bad event after another, Job struggled with his faith. His
family and friends tried to console but all that they were doing is making Job s life
more difficult and frustrating. Despite Job s family and friends, Job begins to
question God s ways because he does not understand what he did to deserve
suffering. As time goes on he slowly becomes sarcastic, impatient, afraid and
believes God is unjust. Before Job drifts farther from God, he meets a man named
Elihu. Elihu speaks wisdom to Job and makes him realize there is something good
that comes out of suffering. After Job s discussion with Elihu, God calls to Job to
show him how little he knows about creation and His power. When Job regains his
confidence in God, he claims God as almighty. When Job is translated into Hebrew,
it means boYa or to come back , repent , or returns to . The author of the book of Job
is unknown, thought researchers say the book dates back to pre Mosaic or
patriarchal from the second Millennium B.C. Studies that believe Job dates back to
pre Mosaic times because offering of sacrifices is by the head of the family rather
than a priest, the mentioning of a qe sitah is a type of money which is during the
time of Joshua, and the fact that
54. The Construction Of 1km Tall Kingdom Tower Of Jeddah,...
Executive Summary
Skyscrapers are continuously increasing in height as new technologies provide
solutions to unique problems that arise as a building grows. Technological
advances have given rise to categories of towers such as super talls (defined as
buildings of over 300 metres) and mega talls (over 600 metres). The tallest building
currently is the Burj Khalifa at 829.8m (Schmidt, 2013) however this will not be the
case for long, as the construction of 1km tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi
Arabia, is already underway.
With the world s natural resources in extremely short supply, it is of incredibly high
importance that we use them in the most efficient way possible, therefore significant
consideration must be given to how we use them, whether this be for huge towers or
otherwise.
On top of the issue above, there is an annual increase in population of nearly
76,000,000 (Worldometers.info, 2016) and the world s urban population is also on
the increase; expected to be at 70% of the planet s population by 2050 (Berg, 2016).
The next milestone height to be reached by a building is one mile. It is suggested
the we certainly could build as high as this (Berg, 2016), but whether we should is a
bit more difficult to answer.
In this report, I aim to assess the benefits, drawbacks and design considerations of
these enormous structures before providing an opinion on whether I believe they
should or should not be built.

55. Girl Groups Of The Late 1950s And The 1960s
How have girl groups of the late 1950s and the 1960s in America drawn on and
contributed to broader trends in post war American and British popular music?
The Shirelles, The Supremes, The Shangri Las, The Ronettes, The Marvelettes and
The Crystals: these are just a few names of the many girl groups of the late 1950s and
the 1960s, a time period that is also known as the girl group era. Many 1960s girl
groups from America were inspired by trends from their predecessors and other earlier
popular music. In turn, despite often being seen as interchangeable and irrelevant to
musical history, these girl groups went on to influence trends in popular music that
came into existence at a later time. Although there are countless characteristics of girl

Despite the fact that they were usually written by older and often male songwriters,
common issues that were discussed in the songs are romance, heartache, the never
ending search for true love and other, similar teenage drama. This made the lyrics,
like the image, very engaging and relatable to the audience of the groups. The
early girl groups kept their lyrics fairly light and optimistic, but during the 60s a
new rawness of emotion and a certain darkness emerged in girl groups songs. An
example is Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (1960) in which The Shirelles do not
just describe an ideal romantic scenario, but go on to question its durability and
permanence. The Shangri Las took teenage angst to an even higher extreme in
Leader of the Pack (1964), which tells a Romeo and Juliet style narrative where a
good girl loses her bad boy , the leader of the pack , to a motor cycle crash after her
parents pressured her into breaking up with him. A different side to girl group lyrics,
often combined with the teenage drama theme, is the description of the trendy dances
of the time (e.g. the twist in Twistin Postman (1962) by the Marvelettes)
