Profit Margin Benefits
How is technology making the market more efficient? By looking at it through the producers
side. For instance, look at Apple Products. The new Iphone 6 goes for about $650. According to
Time Inc. to make an Iphone it costs them around $200. That gives the device a profit margin of
about 69 percent. The 6 plus is one hundred dollars more which gives them a 71 percent margin.
Does such a profit margin seem justified? Yes, business is business, and a company that creates
and sells a product wants to make money. But does it have to be sold for so much money
(androidpit)? No, but people still go out and buy these products because they want to be up to date
on all the products that are fresh out. Although the price of the product make seem like it

The Jury System
The ideas discussed in this article show some extremely important parts of the judicatory in the
state of Kansas. There are some advantages and disadvantages of this system of the judicatory. The
article says that the jury service is one of the most valuable public services that a citizen has an
opportunity to perform , but I think it is not. The United States has many precious public services
such as voting, which shows the participation of the citizens to build their destinations in the
society. In this article, the author says that the performance of jury service is the fulfillment of a
most important civil obligation , and I agree because in this way the citizens can express how much

Musical Analysis of ‘Festival Overture on Australian...
This analysis of Festival Overture on Australian Themes written by Colin Brumby in 1981; will
use the knowledge of the musical elements to explore how Brumby has created each of the
characters in Festival Overture on Australian Themes and how all of the themes in the piece have
been linked together to create the work.
The intro of the piece Festival Overture on Australian Themes is uncertain in tonality, starting with
a flourish of notes for six bars, using woodwinds and strings, over bass tritones that go lower,
coming to a rest on B, the dominant of E.
The first subject; theme A, is a song called Jim Jones . It is written in E minor. The piece has a
very easy flowing melody which is in 6/8 time. It is heard firstly on a solo ... Show more content on

This cheerful theme is played on violins. The Bullroarer is added here. The theme is then repeated,
after that there is a sudden change into using a full orchestra. Accents and sequences create an
unsettled mood and pushes the music forward. It then builds up in tension until the sound
overflows and comes to a stop at the chord of B. A short solo on bassoon re establishes the calm
and undisturbed character, needed for the return of the song Jim Jones. The piece Van Diemen s
Land is about Tasmania, formally named Van Diemen s Land, were all the convicts were sent to
pay for the crimes that they committed. The song talks about the hardships that the wild and
wicked youths will go through on Van Diemen s Land. The vigorous character of the theme
represents the power of the prison guards that hold the convicts there.
From Bars 142 175 the first subject; the song Jim Jones is repeated, played in E minor. From
bars 176 184, the transition between Jim Jones and The Lime Juice Tub is repeated, although it
is changed a little; in the last two bars, it changes into E major. Then them B1, The Lime Juice
Tub is repeated in E major, along with the linking passage. Theme B2, The Ballad of 1891 is then
repeated in A modal. The linking passage is then repeated again, and Theme B3, the song Gallant
Peter Clarke is then repeated in C major.

Analysis Of Giuseppe Mazzini s The Duties Of Man
Giuseppe Mazzini was instrumental in unifying the Italian nation as his ideals spread
throughout Italy s intellectual community. Although many of his attempts at rallying the
common people to a revolution failed, he circulated and popularized the idea of a fully unified
Italy for the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire. In his work The Duties of Man,
Mazzini establishes that he is largely a romantic nationalist, since he draws heavily on history;
however, he utilizes the power of certain liberal nationalist sentiments such as individuals rights
in his own work. In this document, Mazzini largely focuses on how the ideas circulated after the
French Revolution regarding the rights of man have corrupted the true nature of a nation by
creating a culture of greed and egoism. While he openly discourages the erasure and pursuit of
these rights, he is quick to point out that individuals egoism and each nation s separation of class
... has grown and grows worse in nearly every country, and especially where I write the price of
the necessaries of life has gone on continually rising, the wages of the working man in many
branches of industry falling and the population multiplying (87). He argues here that allowing
any nation to be solely characterized by the rights of its citizens causes a nation to define itself
based on the millions of individuals, dividing any community or society which he believes is the
backbone of the nation. In Mazzini s view, the solution to this is by fostering a national culture of
duty to one another. When he asks, What is Society but a collection of men who have agreed to
bring the strength of the many in support of the rights of each? the audience is forced to question
their own personal hierarchy between rights and duties; for what is a nation if there is no work or
duty in achieving and maintaining the rights of every man within the nation (89)? It is through this
investigation that Mazzini reveals his ideas of what makes a nation a nation. By using familial
themes, much like the Russian romantic nationalist, Khomyakov, he is able to portray the nation s
people more clearly as a brotherhood and the nation itself as a maternal figure. Both Mazzini and
Khomyakov promote

A Short Note On The Cell Phone Industry
Although Microsoft was slow to join the cell phone war, and was unsuccessful in partaking in
the market even with theier $7.2MM purchased of Nokia in 2013, our team believes the cell
phone market is now ready for a Microsoft Surface cell phone. After all, Microsoft holds a solid
reputation in operating and security software shouldn t they be able to produce a desirable phone?
Our team believes it can. The cell phone industry is dynamic and thriving market that offers a place
to innovation. Despite the losses already assumed by Microsoftwhich includes, assumed
infringement liabilities by the purchase of the Nokia cell phone line, and the added expenses in
the amount of $780 million under the Phone Hardware Restructuring Plan (SEC, 10Q dated 09
/2016), our team feels Microsoft is in a good position to release a desirable and successful phone
line. Furthermore, our team also believes that Microsoft invested in the market to leave the table
at this point. As Leo Sun from TMSunLion said: it was reported that Microsoft s phone hardware
revenue plunged 46% annually in constant currency terms due to the downsizing of the business
and market share losses. Meanwhile, Surface device sales rose 61%, thanks to strong demand for
the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. That s probably why Surface VP Panos Panay s team

This temple was dedicated to the goddess Athena who is the personification of arts and craft. When
construction started on the Parthenon in 447BC, the empire of Athena was at the height pf its power.
Construction on the Parthenon was completed in 432. At that time, the Parthenon represents the
distinct and the noticeable flourishing of Athenian sovereign power, freedom by the devastation of
the Peloponnesian War. Similarly, it stands for the power and influence of the Athenian politician,
Pericles, who advocated for its construction. The Parthenon was designed in the Doric style of

Theme Of Imperialism In The Second Jungle Book
The Jungle Books The First Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book is a collection of short
stories, several of which have the same protagonist, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894 and
1895 respectively. The stories that are relevant for this essay take place in the jungles of India and
in a bungalow in the 19th century. The Mowglistories tell the story of a boy, found and raised in
the jungle, whose primal life is full of adventures, all the while struggling with his own humanity.
Meanwhile, Rikki Tikki Tavi is about a mongoose, separated from his relatives, who ends up with a
British family whom he must save from the local fauna. Kipling wrote these, and many other
stories, with children in mind, therefore one might assume that the message is as innocent as can be
to suit the young readers. However, in post colonial times, many have criticized... Show more

Although limited, one can observe evidence of imperialism in the stories in both literal and
symbolic references. As we have seen, the English are the ones who provide safety and
protection for those who need their help, and the animals and Mowgli both represent the
inhabitants of the Raj. While this is the case, imperialism is more apparent in the tale of Rikki
Tikki Tavi than The Jungle Books. It is easier to compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s
during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and the plot seems historically telling.
Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s childhood, both being born (...) a
god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. Finally, while some critics praise
Kipling s literature, a few condemn his work for being in favor of the empire, but is this the case
for the Jungle Books? Perhaps so, but it could also be the result of subconscious thoughts that he
was born and raised with, which found their way into his

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plasticizers
2.1.FILLERS
Fillers enhance performance and/or reduce production costs. Stabilizing additives include fire
retardants to lower the flammability of the material. Many plastics contain fillers, relatively inert
and inexpensive materials that make the product unexpensive by weight.
Typically fillers are mineral in origin, e.g., chalk. Some fillers are more chemically active and are
called reinforcing agents. Other fillers include zinc oxide, wood flour, ivory dust, cellulose and
starch.
Additives, fillers, and reinforcements are used to change and enhance the physical and mechanical

Who Invented The Flour Industry
What did you have for breakfast this morning? Was it cereal or toast these items and many more
contain flour. Without the help of the flour industry you probably wouldn t of been able to eat
those items. The flour industry has been around for many years. It s a big part of history and still
plays a very important role. The flour industry started at least two hundred years ago. The flour
industry is still very important today.
The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very
small was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it
would be. Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to
be a waste of money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a
successful industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad
workers, machinists who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour
after it was poured off of the assembly line. Without enough farmers selling wheatto the flour
companies or them having farmers that worked there they didn t have as much wheat to make the

Sociological Analysis Of The Five Social Statuses
The macrosociology method that we are going to be talking about are the five social statuses that

with these social statuses Weber s term of the three P s apply, property which refers to wealth,
power which is getting others to do what you want, and lastly prestige, which is your social status.
Status sets refers to all the statuses or positions you occupy, such as being a mother, student,

It is how we present our self in everyday life and the reasons we act the way we do. Reasons that
may affect how we present ourselves are the kind stage we re on, role performance, role
conflicts, and role strain. The difference between role and status is that you occupy a status, but
you play a role (Linton 1936). Although statuses are macrosociology based, there is still
confusion between roles and statuses. Goffman believed that there were stages in which we
performed our assigned roles such as front stage and back stage. The front stage is wherever we
deliver our lines for example, taking the role of your occupation. The back stage is a place we
can relax, have some privacy, and reflect from the front stage. For example, being in your
bedroom not having to worry about a thing and being able to discuss what happened on the front
stage. This can affect how we present ourselves because when we re in the front stage we re
putting up in act to present our self to whoever our audience is. Whereas in the back stage we
have no one to put on a show for and we can relax and let loose. Role performance is similar with
role conflict because a role performance is a certain interpretation that you give your role. For
example, I can play the role as a good student and turn in all my assignments in on time, score high

Long Term Care Policy Summary
This article states that Hawaii is introducing a policy to reduce the burden on caregivers who are
providing long term and end of life care to family members. This policy introduces a stipend of
70 dollars per day for people caring for an elderly family member. The policy has some
limitations. Only those who work at least 30 hours a week can utilize this stipend. The intent is for
caregivers to use this stipend to supplement wages, hire help, and buy caregiving supplies.
This relates to some of the points brought up in this week s discussion board and long term care.
Many others have mentioned that having to pay for long term care for elderly relatives is
emotionally and financially stressful. This scenario of being the primary caregiver for elderly
relatives, rather than putting them in a nursing facility, also adds the stress of time management and
the emotional and mental stress of walking a relative through the last stages of their life.
Many of those in Hawaii do not want to put their loved ones in long term care facilities for a

There are obvious acute side effects associated with ECT. Many patients experience disorientation
immediately following the therapy. Also, ECT seems to commonly catalyze retrograde amnesia,
which causes a patient to forget events that happened soon before the procedure began. Heightened
anxiety encouraged by the anticipation of ECT is another side effect. It is typical of these side
effects to dwindle as time progresses after the treatment. However, the idea that these symptoms
may persist for enough time after the treatment to be considered long term side effects is one that is
still debated. The intention of this article is to leave social factors behind and determine whether or
not, when done properly, ECT has any long term negative cognitive or physical effects on the
patient that would overwhelm the advantages of the treatment. There have been propositions that
ECT has outstanding long term effects on the heart, memory function and also that it may
contribute to or cause brain damage. Also, studies suggest high rates of mortality directly caused
by ECT. In the following paragraphs each hypothesis will be examined based on evidence provided
by various studies within the scientific field. Some organizations

A Comparison of Vistor Frankenstein and Henry Jekyll Essay
A Comparison of Vistor Frankenstein and Henry Jekyll
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and Robert Louis Stevenson s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are two
horrific tales of science gone terribly wrong. Shelley?s novel eloquently tells the story of a
scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who creates a living monster out of decomposed body parts, while
Stevenson?s novel describes the account of one, Henry Jekyll, who creates a potion to bring out the
pure evil side to himself. Although the two scientists differ in their initial response and action to
their creations, there are strong similarities between their raging curiosity to surpass human
limitation, as well as their lack of responsibility concerning their actions. These similarities raise an

(Stevenson 107). Here, Henry Jekyll displays his awe and wonder of his new discovery. He feels
a sense of power and overwhelming wickedness. From the quotation, it seems appropriate to
conjecture that Dr. Jekyll was enthusiastic about testing out his ?new creation,? as if he were a
child and it a toy.
Here, is another difference between the two doctors. Dr. Frankenstein(after realizing what he has
done) halts all of his experiments and does away with his laboratory anything to get his mind of
his terrible creation. He travels around, always watching his back expecting his creature to be
there. Dr. Frankenstein has many qualities of the classic Byronic hero; a character that shows
romanticized sorrow and pity for himself. ? . . . I am a blasted tree,? he says, ?the bolt has
entered my soul; and I felt then that I should survive to exhibit what I shall soon cease to be a
miserable spectacle of wrecked humanity, pitiable to others and intolerable to myself? (Shelley
153). In this quotation, he shows romanticized self pity and remorse for what he has created.
Victor calls himself a ?miserable spectacle of wrecked humanity.? By this he feels his life is over;
he can no long face the world a decent man.
Dr. Jekyll, on the other hand, like a child, is thrilled with his new discovery and wishes to tamper

Child Soldiers In Africa
It is approximated that about 40% of all child soldiers are located in Africa, and out of an
estimated 300,000 child soldiers globally, around 250,000 of them are active in Africa.
According to the 2008 Global Report on Child Soldiers by the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child
Soldiers, the LRA has abducted about 25,000 children since the 1980s. (www.accord.org.za) The
percentage of children that are used as soldiers in Africa is shocking. Child soldiers in Africa are
not fighting for the freedom of their country, though. The majority of children recruited as child
soldiers are fighting alongside rebel groups who hope to take control of their country. These

Becoming The Manager Of A Business
Becoming the manager of a business is, for some people, is an amazing opportunity. No matter
how big or how small the respected business is, there is always a huge amount of responsibility
that falls on to your shoulders at the end of everyday, no matter the outcome. In this case, not
only are you a manager, you are a city manager in Tennessee. Despite the lucrative opportunity
that has presented itself, the mayor has asked you to complete an unethical task. He has given you
an envelope full of receipts from a trip that he recently took to attend an economic development
conference. Included in the receipts are receipts from a four day vacation that the mayo and his
wife took at a resort near the conference city. It was clear that the mayor wanted the city to
reimburse him for everything that was in that envelope. Now, as the newly appointed city manager,

The Pros And Cons Of Tragedy Donation
Introduction A charitable donation refers to a gift made by an organization or an individual to a
private foundation, charity or non profit organization. The U.S has allowed deduction on income
tax to individual and corporate donors for their charitable donations since 1917 (Colinvaux Dale,
2015). Often, these donations represent the main source of funding for most of the nonprofit and
charitable organizations. In most countries, a charitable donation made to any of the qualifying
organization entitles one to an income taxdeduction. Organizations that do not qualify as charitable
are considered for profit and are taxed accordingly to that effect. The Charitable Contributions
Deduction entitles taxpayers to a tax deduction for the financial year in which they made their
donations. The aim of this essay is to compare between the taxationof donations made to a
charitable organizationby a corporation and that made by an individual.
Comparison of charitable contributions by a corporation versus and individual Individual
shareholders in a private company should compare whether they will realize higher tax benefits by
personally donating to charitable organizations or by donating through their corporation. A
corporation qualifies for similar charitable deductions that apply to individuals (Bank, 2017). The
general rule for allowance of deduction for individual and corporate charitable donations is that any
charitable donation (as defined in U.S Code (U.S.C) section 170

Content Based Image Compression Using Dct And Dwt Technique
CONTENT BASED IMAGE COMPRESSION USING DCT AND DWT TECHNIQUE
Abstract: Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) are the most
known methods used in digital image compression. Wavelet transform has better efficiency
compared to Fourier transform because it describe any type of signals both in time and frequency
domain simultaneously. In this paper, we will discuss the use of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT)
and Discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) based Image compression Algorithmand compare the
efficiency of both methods. We do the numerical experiment by considering various types of
images and by applying DCT and DWT SPIHT to compress an image. We found that DWT yields
better result as compared to DCT.
In this paper, we will do comparison with discrete cosine transform (DCT) which is heart of
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) standard and widely used wavelet based image
compression algorithm set partitioning in hierarchical tree based on different performance
measure such as Peak to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE) and CR.

Marcus Aurelius was born on April 26th, 121 AD. He was born as Marcus Annius Verus. His
family was a very wealthy family who claimed that they were descendants of Numa, The Second
King of Rome. His father was Annius Verus and his mother was Domitia Lucilla. During his
childhood Marcus studied Stoic Philosophy. Stoic Philosophy deals with the teachings of living
simply and being down to Earth and logical about situations. Marcus wrote about this philosophy
in his book Meditations. Also during his childhood Hadrian had appointed Marcus to equestrian
rank, at the age of six. Then at the age of eight he was appointed Priest of Salian. During his youth
he was called Verissimus , by Hadrian, which means genuine or true. After the death of his father,
Marcus Aurelius was adopted by his grandfather,Annius Verus. His grandfather was a city prefect
under Hadrian. This required him to watch over the city , during the absence of the emperor. His
grandfather was also a consul three times.
He was later adopted by His uncle, Antoninus Pius. He was also Hadrian s successor, but Hadrian

The Banking Concept Of Education
In the excerpt from The Banking Concept of Education the author, Paulo Freire explains the critical
flaw in the current education system. He continues by offering his believed solution to this
problem. The two concepts Freire discusses in this excerpt are the banking concept of education and
the problem posing method of education. The banking concept is talked about rather negatively,
whereas the problem posing method is talked about highly. Freire believes in the problem posing
method and that students should have free will to a certain extent in the classroom with less
authoritative power from the teacher during discussions.
This flawed concept in education today is the oppressive depositing of information (banking
education) by teachers to students. Banking education (for obvious reasons) attempts, by
mythicizing reality, to conceal certain facts which explain the way people exist in the world...
(p.224) The banking concept is an act that hinders the intellectual growth of students by turning
them into receptors and collectors of information that have no true connection to their lives. The
banking concept is essentially turning humans into objects. Banking education inhibits creativity
and domesticates (although it cannot completely destroy) the intentionality of consciousness by
isolating consciousness from the world, thereby denying people their ontological and historical
vocation of becoming more fully human. (p.224) This type of education

mythology s relevance to life. Animals and dragons also appear repeatedly in Chinese and Japanese

And although Chinese dragons are powerful fighters, they choose not to fight. Chinese mythology
has several distinctive qualities, one of the most individual is the fact that Chinese myths are very
concise: a single myth might only be one page long, but tells a story that could take up two or
more pages. For example, the sentence, The Wise Old Man at the River Bend stopped the foolish
old man shows an entire short scene. Japanese myths, on the other hand, are more story like in their
structure, and they are told simply. In fact, the Japanese myths are told so simply and this author
believes that they can be understood by children. Also Japanese myths have more of a definite
beginning, middle, and end.

Making full use of imagery, Dashner manipulated my brain into generating complex images and
scenes, creating a realistic depiction of how every character thought and acted. This book was
able to create an illusion of the Scorch world using words alone. The characters thoughts were
also well presented adding a fourth dimension to this story. Everyone kept his or her unique
personality, but their thoughts also gave us insight on what happens behind the scenes. By aiding
the imagery with metaphors, paradoxes, and juxtapositions, Dashner created a truly stunning
masterpiece. These simple tactics can also be applied to enhance my own writing. Stitching
together original ideas with these simple devices, I can easily step up my writing. I can use
juxtaposition to introduce a unique character, use a paradox to add emphasis on a scene, and use
a metaphor to exaggerate certain aspects of a character. Though simple in concept, Dashner was
able to take full advantage of it and I quickly learned some of these techniques while reading The
Scorch Trials.
Teaching the power of trust using incredible imagery, The Scorch Trials definitely met my
expectations. The book is able to provide quality entertainment while also teaching valuable life
lessons. I would certainly recommend this book to others, opening them up to the same valuable
lessons provided by The Scorch

Plant Water Stress Is A Major Factor Affecting Crop Yield
Plant water stress is a major factor affecting crop yield. With the ever increasing human
population, there is a constant stress exerted on water resources (McGwire et al., 2000). So
irrigation to avoid or relieve this stress must be done judiciously, not only to avoid environmental
problems such as groundwater pollution and runoff, but also to keep the cost down on a limited
and expensive resource. Soil moisture sensors are often used for precision irrigationcontrol
purposes. However, soil moisture sensors can only assess the degree of water deficit stress that is
imposed to the plants, but not necessarily the level of water deficit stress that is actually
experienced by the plants (Sinclair and Ludlow, 1985). An assessment of leaf water content, on the
other hand, may yield more detailed insight into the plant s actual physiological response to a
certain degree of low soil moisture content, and how water deficit stress is in fact experienced by
the plant. Leaf water content is a key indicator of plant health, vigor and photosynthetic efficiency
(Harry, 2006). Accurate retrieval of plant water content plays a crucial role in assessing drought
risk (Bauer et al., 1986), select genotypes in breeding for water stress (Munjal and Dhanda, 2005),
predicting wildfire and monitoring the physiological condition of vegetation (PeГ±uelas and

Difference Between Good And Evil In Frankenstein
A doppelganger can be an alter ego or other side of a person, and can represent a person s
opposite personality traits. Many writers used a double theme in Gothic fiction to tell the
difference between good and evil. The monster is a form of Victor Frankenstein s dark side, the
other side of him.
The monster and Victor are two different and matching outlooks of a person s personality. They are
different people, but their relationship causes them to intertwine their paths. Frankenstein s monster
is his confidant, the effect of his interference with science and his attempt to go against nature to
find all the answers to the universe. The creation of the monster is a result of a mad scientist
who is in search of an immense amount of knowledge. He could be a victim of the cruelty of
society, after all he still has a good part of him. Through nature and his experiences he learns new
things to become a noble savage as a result. He is capable of emotion: he gets teary eyed at the

When trying to compare three social theorists to each other, you must first try to understand the

Theology as a single entity is constructed from deep intellectual thought. When social theorist
begin to develop there theoretical perspectives, they seem to have an overwhelming grasp on the

and in groups, conflict increases the degree of social solidarity within each group and at the same

Aside from seeing conflict as a social form, Simmel also saw money as a social form. Simmel s
Philosophy of Money is a stab at exposing how the forms of interaction affect the basic nature of
social relations independently of their specific content.
Simmel s major contribution to sociology resides in his concern with the basic forms of interaction.
Unlike Mead and Pareto, Simmel is hard to follow because he jumps from topic to topic, from the
micro to the macro and from the historical past to contemporary situations in his time. But in the
end, his goal is similar to all other theorists: to explain many empirical events with a few highly
abstract models and principles. (Turner P. 287)
Although he rejected many of the points of positivist doctrines, Vilfredo Pareto was somewhat of a
positivist whose major contribution to sociology was his Circulation of Elites conspiracy theory
documented in The Rise and Fall of the Elites. Also known as the Father of Mathematics, Pareto
thought that economics limited itself to a single aspect of human action and therefore, devoted his
studies to social theory. Pareto also thought that human affairs were largely guided by non logical,
non traditional actions,

This concept is conveniently backed by the elders of Naram SГ®m, who were successful in
claiming that these attributes came in the form of being divine. This claim to divinity literally
underpinned their ascension to power and the relegation of everyone else; rulers were to be revered
for their beauty and power because it was truly their god given right. Alas, Winter argues that the
sexual allure of the ruler s body firmly functions was a mechanism to continue aggrandizing their
own status and dominance.
Winter succesfully notes that this dominance and power was also preserved by what we would
call propaganda. In regards to another period of art, Winter suggests that aesthetic pleasure can
serve as the vehicle by which a highly seductive ideal vision is articulated for the citizen viewer .
In regards to the stela, the viewer sees an image of an audacious, virtuous hero, the signifier which
may have instilled and preserved the distorted perception of hierarchy. Though the idea of being an
alpha male is nothing new at this point in history, it does become physically stamped into history,
used to gain loyalty between the ruler and the ruled.
However, this belief was not exclusive to just the king and his subjects, but also between

Essay on Womens Roles in Society
Women s roles have changed so much within the last couple of centuries. In the older years,
women were the sole responsibility of taking care of the children, doing housework, and pretty
much taking care of their husbands. The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, A Doll s House,
Henrik Ibsen, and The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Gilman are all literature pieces talking
about the roles women have in society. In The story of an Hour, the main character is not happy in
her marriage, and she finds out that her husband got killed, and she felt very free. In A Doll s
House, the main character is not happy with her marriage, because she feels that she is being
treated like a childish, playful doll, and does not get any respect from her... Show more content on

Mallard having heart trouble, and how they had to be very careful telling her the news of her

Mrs. Mallard ran off into her room, with no one following her. She sat in a chair staring outside
through the open window. She started seeing everything outside come to life, and all of a

know about the accident or there had even been one. Mrs. Mallard saw her husband, and the
doctors said she died of a heart disease (cited in DiYanni, 2007).
The conflict in the story is that Mrs. Mallard is way too happy about her husband dying. After
going into the room and closing the door, she started looking outside and could see the tops of
trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life (DiYanni 2007, p. 39). She is finally seeing the

Symptoms Of Dementia Essay
As we age, various disorders can affect how well our brains function. Dementia is one of the most
common brain disorders that seniors experience. Certain health conditions can cause dementia. For
example, chronic high blood pressure, previous stroke or blood vessel disease can lead to vascular
dementia.
Causes of Dementia
Many times, dementia is not the result of just one condition, but several. For instance, the
combination of Alzheimer s disease, strokes, Parkinson s disease and depression may lead to
dementia.
Alzheimer s Disease
In the most recent U.S. census (2010), nearly 5 million people aged 65 and older were afflicted
with this disease. This condition causes brain cells in the area of the brain that controls memory to
die. As this disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

William Blake Allusions
In William Blake s Poem The Chimney Sweeper , Blake uses allusions, symbols, and metaphor
to convey his theme of Innocence, Death, and Youth. With this Blake also goes in depth about
the speakers childhood. Finally Blake ends with a dream and how innocence is a major part of
the poem. Blake s foundation of this poem relies on biblical allusions which provide the poem
with a theme of innocence and, without them, Blake may have just had an ordinary poem with
no deeper meaning in it. Linkin states that The Angel s reported promise provides the first
linguistic surprise in the poem... the Angel told Tom if he d be a good boy, / He d have God for his
father never want joy (32 33). Youth takes over here as the little boy instead of being told... Show

Tom Dacre is very crucial to the poem and in an Overview of The ChimneySweeper it mentions In
the second stanza, the child identifies another young sweeper, Tom Dacre, who cried when his
head was shaven (his curls are compared to the wool of a lamb s back) (1 2). This scene adds
onto the theme of youth and innocence which is what most of the poem revolves around. So it
is very clear that this is where the most noticeable metaphor in the poem is so far with Blake
relating crying Tom Dacre to a lamb. As Blake does allusions he also connects it to metaphors
because when he writes locked up in coffins of black (12), this can also be taken as a metaphor
for the soot that the children are covered in after they clean chimneys. Then in further thought
the coffins, which is relation to the theme of death and how the youthful chimney sweepers are
trapped in cases before they are released as Blake cleverly writes an Angel who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffins set them all free (13 14). The angel sets them free and they can finally
get free and cleanse their souls, at least that is what Blake is going for when he writes And wash
in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds,
and sport in the wind. (16 18) These lines contain two metaphors which are that they are cleansing

The Eradication Of Beta Cells And Production Of Type 1...
The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing
attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the
production of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the
administration of insulinwithin the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe
influence of blood glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood
alterations, hyperglycaemia and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the
patientВґs enhanced appetite, increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the
potential outcomes on the six weeks foetus within the first trimester of CarolВґs pregnancy will be
detailed.
1.Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the
outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction
of beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens
because the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there,
have been destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly
control blood sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be
replaced and it is managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is

Learning the Process of Writing in a First-Year...
I entered my first year college composition course believing I was equipped with the knowledge,
skill, and ability to write an efficiently researched and well organized essay. In high school, I
learned how to create the traditional five paragraph paper with its introduction of a thesis,
explanation of that claim through three sections riddled with supporting quotes, and conclusion that
restated the author s substantiated statement. This was the prescribed formula I had learned and
grown accustomed to using for book reports, compare and contrast papers, and research essays
and, from my bestowment of high grades and praise, I d never thought to question or deviate from
its pattern. When I attended my first college writingclass, I thought... Show more content on

For the second paper, an essay about a remembered event, Professor Cardinale assigned five
prewriting exercises to the class. These included a freewriting about multiple past events, a
recreation of the dialogue that occurred during one of these events, a freewriting on
memorabilia connected to the occasion, a reflection of the event s significance on the student s
life, and finally a culmination of all the prewriting to create an outline for the essay. These
multiple prewriting exercises helped me uncover, explore, and convey different emotions
through my writing. I didn t have to worry about perfecting these exercises because the professor
did not grade the grammar or context of the prewrites and instead provided suggestions and
helpful comments to enhance the essay. Murray explains this alternative to grading, he says, We
have to respect the student, not for his product, not for the paper we call literature by giving it a
grade, but for the search for truth in which he is engaged. We must listen carefully for those
words that may reveal a truth, that may reveal a voice (5). My writing seemed to become more
authentic and it was easier to flow from sentence to sentence because I already knew what I
wanted to say and why it was important for me to convey it to my readers. After finishing the
prewriting exercises, Professor Cardinale would have the class write a first draft of

Comparing Euclidean, Spherical Geometry, And
When it comes to Euclidean Geometry, Spherical Geometry and Hyperbolic Geometry there are
many similarities and differences among them. For example, what may be true for Euclidean
Geometry may not be true for Spherical or Hyperbolic Geometry. Many instances exist where
something is true for one or two geometries but not the other geometry. However, sometimes a
property is true for all three geometries. These points bring us to the purpose of this paper. This
paper is an opportunity for me to demonstrate my growing understanding about Euclidean Geometry
, Spherical Geometry, and Hyperbolic Geometry. The first issue that I will focus on is the
definition of a straight lineon all of these surfaces. For a Euclidean plane the definition... Show

In my homework I used two different proofs to prove the Vertical Angle Theorem on a Euclidean
plane and a sphere. The first idea I used was looking at the Vertical Angle Theorem using angle
as measure. The second idea I used was looking at the Vertical Angle Theorem using angle as
rotation. I have provided my homework so that one can see my reasoning behind both of these
proofs. I found that they worked on a Euclidean plane and a sphere. Although I did not have to
say if my proofs worked on a hyperbolic plane, I can say that they would because we can look at
a hyperbolic plane locally. From Chapter 6 in our textbook Experiencing Geometry by
Henderson and Taimina, we formulated a summary of the properties of geodesics on the plane,
spheres, and hyperbolic planes. I feel this is a good homework assignment to mention in this
paper. For the first part of the problem we were to explain why for every geodesic on the plane,
sphere, and hyperbolic plane there is a reflection of the whole space through the geodesic. For the
second part of the problem I showed that every geodesic on the plane, sphere, and hyperbolic
plane can be extended indefinitely (in the sense that the bug can walk straight ahead indefinitely
along any geodesic). The third part asked to show that for every pair of distinct points on the plane,
sphere, and hyperbolic plane there is a (not necessarily unique) geodesic containing them. In the
fourth part of the problem I

Foreign Language Deficit Analysis
The United States education system lacks a national foreign language education requirement, which
has resulted in a decline of foreign language learning opportunities. ( Education, 2010). Foreign
language requirements and opportunities in the nation s schools are decreasing due to budget cuts
(Skorton Altschuler, 2012). Out of the 50 states, only 10 states have a foreign language graduation
requirement set for students ( Education, 2010). From 1997 to 2008, the number of elementary
schools offering a foreign language decreased from 31% to 25%, while the number of middle
schools dropped from 75% to 58%. Foreign language opportunities in high schools remained the
same at around 91%; however, from 1994 to 2010 the percent of colleges that required foreign
language study dropped from 67.5% to 50.7% (Skorton Altschuler, 2012). The result... Show more

Secretary of Education, in 2010 at the Foreign Language Summit: The president and I want every
child to have a world class education today more than ever a world class education requires
students to be able to speak and read languages in addition to English ( Education, 2010, p.1).
Duncan mentioned the increasing need for foreign languages in the shrinking world, and the gap
between foreign language education in Europe and the United States (Skorton Altschuler, 2012).
Foreign language education is becoming increasingly important, but the challenge is that budgets
are tight and schools are making sacrifices; however, Duncan says that the United States needs to
accept this challenge in order to continue progressing in today s world. The United States has
accepted this challenge and is working towards improving the foreign language education system (
Education, 2010). Many countries understand the increasing importance of foreign language
education and the benefits that come with it, including the positive impacts a foreign language has

Persuasive Essay On The Public Transportation System
What started out as a trip to Philadelphia ended up turning into a unique experience with public
transportation. There is more to public transportation than hopping on a bus or train and just
getting to your destination. There are unsaid rules that go along with riding in the public
transportation system and the point of my exploration remix is to share these rules with any
other college students who do not fully understand them. Without being aware of the unsaid
rules, it is very easy to break them. I want to prevent college students from making the mistake of
embarking on the public transportation system with no prior knowledge and prevent students
from breaking any of the rules like I did. My remix serves to provide quick information for those
who want to use public transportation. College students primarily will not take the time to
seriously read through a handbook for public transportation nor sit down to watch a video.
However, a flyer with only a few sentences is readable and convenient. All a flyer needs is a little
bit of color and bold lettering and there it is! One of the rhetorical ideas I used was humor.
Humor is a great tool when used correctly because the listener will start to pay attention when
they laugh. I achieved this appeal to pathos by using cartoons on the flyer. It is easy to glance
over something and not read it but when something small makes one chuckle, they will retain
the information received. Using a tool such as humor allows the work to be memorable.
Technologically this was a tough assignment. At first, the original plan was to make a short
video type public service announcement. Unfortunately, I did not possess the knowledge to
create one. Regardless, making a flyer may be more effective for college students. I have
incredibly awful handwriting, so for me to draw any sort of flyer would be a waste of time. A
more aesthetically pleasing method would be to create a flyer online using microsoft word,
multiple colors as well as a small amount of photography. This is exactly what I did. There were
many things I would have liked to do with the flyer, but since I lacked technical knowledge, I
could not achieve these ideas. I would have liked to fade the photos behind the text so you

  • 10. Analysis Of Giuseppe Mazzini s The Duties Of Man Giuseppe Mazzini was instrumental in unifying the Italian nation as his ideals spread throughout Italy s intellectual community. Although many of his attempts at rallying the common people to a revolution failed, he circulated and popularized the idea of a fully unified Italy for the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire. In his work The Duties of Man, Mazzini establishes that he is largely a romantic nationalist, since he draws heavily on history; however, he utilizes the power of certain liberal nationalist sentiments such as individuals rights in his own work. In this document, Mazzini largely focuses on how the ideas circulated after the French Revolution regarding the rights of man have corrupted the true nature of a nation by creating a culture of greed and egoism. While he openly discourages the erasure and pursuit of these rights, he is quick to point out that individuals egoism and each nation s separation of class ... has grown and grows worse in nearly every country, and especially where I write the price of the necessaries of life has gone on continually rising, the wages of the working man in many branches of industry falling and the population multiplying (87). He argues here that allowing any nation to be solely characterized by the rights of its citizens causes a nation to define itself based on the millions of individuals, dividing any community or society which he believes is the backbone of the nation. In Mazzini s view, the solution to this is by fostering a national culture of duty to one another. When he asks, What is Society but a collection of men who have agreed to bring the strength of the many in support of the rights of each? the audience is forced to question their own personal hierarchy between rights and duties; for what is a nation if there is no work or duty in achieving and maintaining the rights of every man within the nation (89)? It is through this investigation that Mazzini reveals his ideas of what makes a nation a nation. By using familial themes, much like the Russian romantic nationalist, Khomyakov, he is able to portray the nation s people more clearly as a brotherhood and the nation itself as a maternal figure. It is easier to compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and the plot seems historically telling. Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s childhood, both being born (...) a god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. Goffman believed that there were stages in which we performed our assigned roles such as front stage and back stage. The front stage is wherever we deliver our lines for example, taking the role of your occupation. The back stage is a place we can relax, have some privacy, and reflect from the front stage. Only those who work at least 30 hours a week can utilize this stipend. The intent is for caregivers to use this stipend to supplement wages, hire help, and buy caregiving supplies. Public fears stem from all kinds of sources whether they be rational and claim base in science, based on the social context surrounding administration of the treatment, or simply based on the fact that inducing convolutions through electric shocks to the head seems like a peculiar and disturbing manner in which to treat an illness. Some ethical resistance to the treatment may have been born in the 60s when it received attention in various forms of popular media. There are obvious acute side effects associated with ECT. Many patients experience disorientation immediately following the therapy. Also, ECT seems to commonly catalyze retrograde amnesia, which causes a patient to forget events that happened soon before the procedure began. Heightened anxiety encouraged by the anticipation of ECT is another side effect. It is typical of these side effects to dwindle as time progresses after the treatment. However, the idea that these symptoms may persist for enough time after the treatment to be considered long term side effects is one that is still debated. The intention of this article is to leave social factors behind and determine whether or not, when done properly, ECT has any long term negative cognitive or physical effects on the patient that would overwhelm the advantages of the treatment. There have been propositions that ECT has outstanding long term effects on the heart, memory function and also that it may contribute to or cause brain damage. He feels a sense of power and overwhelming wickedness. From the quotation, it seems appropriate to conjecture that Dr. Jekyll was enthusiastic about testing out his ?new creation,? as if he were a child and it a toy. Here, is another difference between the two doctors. Dr. Frankenstein(after realizing what he has done) halts all of his experiments and does away with his laboratory anything to get his mind of his terrible creation. He travels around, always watching his back expecting his creature to be there. Dr. Frankenstein has many qualities of the classic Byronic hero; a character that shows romanticized sorrow and pity for himself. ? . . . No matter how big or how small the respected business is, there is always a huge amount of responsibility that falls on to your shoulders at the end of everyday, no matter the outcome. In this case, not only are you a manager, you are a city manager in Tennessee. Despite the lucrative opportunity that has presented itself, the mayor has asked you to complete an unethical task. He has given you an envelope full of receipts from a trip that he recently took to attend an economic development conference. Included in the receipts are receipts from a four day vacation that the mayo and his wife took at a resort near the conference city. It was clear that the mayor wanted the city to reimburse him for everything that was in that envelope. • 26. The Pros And Cons Of Tragedy Donation Introduction A charitable donation refers to a gift made by an organization or an individual to a private foundation, charity or non profit organization. The U.S has allowed deduction on income tax to individual and corporate donors for their charitable donations since 1917 (Colinvaux Dale, 2015). Often, these donations represent the main source of funding for most of the nonprofit and charitable organizations. In most countries, a charitable donation made to any of the qualifying organization entitles one to an income taxdeduction. Organizations that do not qualify as charitable are considered for profit and are taxed accordingly to that effect. The Charitable Contributions Deduction entitles taxpayers to a tax deduction for the financial year in which they made their donations. The aim of this essay is to compare between the taxationof donations made to a charitable organizationby a corporation and that made by an individual. Comparison of charitable contributions by a corporation versus and individual Individual shareholders in a private company should compare whether they will realize higher tax benefits by personally donating to charitable organizations or by donating through their corporation. A corporation qualifies for similar charitable deductions that apply to individuals (Bank, 2017). Wavelet transform has better efficiency compared to Fourier transform because it describe any type of signals both in time and frequency domain simultaneously. In this paper, we will discuss the use of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) based Image compression Algorithmand compare the efficiency of both methods. We do the numerical experiment by considering various types of images and by applying DCT and DWT SPIHT to compress an image. We found that DWT yields better result as compared to DCT. In this paper, we will do comparison with discrete cosine transform (DCT) which is heart of JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) standard and widely used wavelet based image compression algorithm set partitioning in hierarchical tree based on different performance measure such as Peak to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE) and CR. He continues by offering his believed solution to this problem. The two concepts Freire discusses in this excerpt are the banking concept of education and the problem posing method of education. The banking concept is talked about rather negatively, whereas the problem posing method is talked about highly. Freire believes in the problem posing method and that students should have free will to a certain extent in the classroom with less authoritative power from the teacher during discussions. This flawed concept in education today is the oppressive depositing of information (banking education) by teachers to students. Banking education (for obvious reasons) attempts, by mythicizing reality, to conceal certain facts which explain the way people exist in the world... (p.224) The banking concept is an act that hinders the intellectual growth of students by turning them into receptors and collectors of information that have no true connection to their lives. The banking concept is essentially turning humans into objects. • 36. Plant Water Stress Is A Major Factor Affecting Crop Yield Plant water stress is a major factor affecting crop yield. With the ever increasing human population, there is a constant stress exerted on water resources (McGwire et al., 2000). So irrigation to avoid or relieve this stress must be done judiciously, not only to avoid environmental problems such as groundwater pollution and runoff, but also to keep the cost down on a limited and expensive resource. Soil moisture sensors are often used for precision irrigationcontrol purposes. However, soil moisture sensors can only assess the degree of water deficit stress that is imposed to the plants, but not necessarily the level of water deficit stress that is actually experienced by the plants (Sinclair and Ludlow, 1985). An assessment of leaf water content, on the other hand, may yield more detailed insight into the plant s actual physiological response to a certain degree of low soil moisture content, and how water deficit stress is in fact experienced by the plant. Leaf water content is a key indicator of plant health, vigor and photosynthetic efficiency (Harry, 2006). Accurate retrieval of plant water content plays a crucial role in assessing drought risk (Bauer et al., 1986), select genotypes in breeding for water stress (Munjal and Dhanda, 2005), predicting wildfire and monitoring the physiological condition of vegetation (PeГ±uelas and Filella, 1998) and biomass (Cho et al., 2007; Mutanga et al., 2005; Ullah et al., 2012c), while in the agriculture domain it helps in scheduling ... In regards to the stela, the viewer sees an image of an audacious, virtuous hero, the signifier which may have instilled and preserved the distorted perception of hierarchy. Though the idea of being an alpha male is nothing new at this point in history, it does become physically stamped into history, used to gain loyalty between the ruler and the ruled. However, this belief was not exclusive to just the king and his subjects, but also between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Essay on Womens Roles in Society Women s roles have changed so much within the last couple of centuries. In the older years, women were the sole responsibility of taking care of the children, doing housework, and pretty much taking care of their husbands. The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, A Doll s House, Henrik Ibsen, and The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Gilman are all literature pieces talking about the roles women have in society. In The story of an Hour, the main character is not happy in her marriage, and she finds out that her husband got killed, and she felt very free. • 50. William Blake Allusions In William Blake s Poem The Chimney Sweeper , Blake uses allusions, symbols, and metaphor to convey his theme of Innocence, Death, and Youth. With this Blake also goes in depth about the speakers childhood. Finally Blake ends with a dream and how innocence is a major part of the poem. Blake s foundation of this poem relies on biblical allusions which provide the poem with a theme of innocence and, without them, Blake may have just had an ordinary poem with no deeper meaning in it. Linkin states that The Angel s reported promise provides the first linguistic surprise in the poem... the Angel told Tom if he d be a good boy, / He d have God for his father never want joy (32 33). Youth takes over here as the little boy instead of being told... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom Dacre is very crucial to the poem and in an Overview of The ChimneySweeper it mentions In the second stanza, the child identifies another young sweeper, Tom Dacre, who cried when his head was shaven (his curls are compared to the wool of a lamb s back) (1 2). This scene adds onto the theme of youth and innocence which is what most of the poem revolves around. So it is very clear that this is where the most noticeable metaphor in the poem is so far with Blake relating crying Tom Dacre to a lamb. As Blake does allusions he also connects it to metaphors because when he writes locked up in coffins of black (12), this can also be taken as a metaphor for the soot that the children are covered in after they clean chimneys. Then in further thought the coffins, which is relation to the theme of death and how the youthful chimney sweepers are trapped in cases before they are released as Blake cleverly writes an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins set them all free (13 14). The angel sets them free and they can finally get free and cleanse their souls, at least that is what Blake is going for when he writes And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. (16 18) These lines contain two metaphors which are that they are cleansing their ... • 51. The Eradication Of Beta Cells And Production Of Type 1... The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the production of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the administration of insulinwithin the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe influence of blood glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood alterations, hyperglycaemia and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the patientВґs enhanced appetite, increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the potential outcomes on the six weeks foetus within the first trimester of CarolВґs pregnancy will be detailed. 1.Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction of beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens because the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there, have been destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly control blood sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be replaced and it is managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Learning the Process of Writing in a First-Year... I entered my first year college composition course believing I was equipped with the knowledge, skill, and ability to write an efficiently researched and well organized essay. In high school, I learned how to create the traditional five paragraph paper with its introduction of a thesis, explanation of that claim through three sections riddled with supporting quotes, and conclusion that restated the author s substantiated statement. This was the prescribed formula I had learned and grown accustomed to using for book reports, compare and contrast papers, and research essays and, from my bestowment of high grades and praise, I d never thought to question or deviate from its pattern. When I attended my first college writingclass, I thought... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the second paper, an essay about a remembered event, Professor Cardinale assigned five prewriting exercises to the class. These included a freewriting about multiple past events, a recreation of the dialogue that occurred during one of these events, a freewriting on memorabilia connected to the occasion, a reflection of the event s significance on the student s life, and finally a culmination of all the prewriting to create an outline for the essay. These multiple prewriting exercises helped me uncover, explore, and convey different emotions through my writing. I didn t have to worry about perfecting these exercises because the professor did not grade the grammar or context of the prewrites and instead provided suggestions and helpful comments to enhance the essay. Murray explains this alternative to grading, he says, We have to respect the student, not for his product, not for the paper we call literature by giving it a grade, but for the search for truth in which he is engaged. We must listen carefully for those words that may reveal a truth, that may reveal a voice (5). My writing seemed to become more authentic and it was easier to flow from sentence to sentence because I already knew what I wanted to say and why it was important for me to convey it to my readers. For example, what may be true for Euclidean Geometry may not be true for Spherical or Hyperbolic Geometry. Many instances exist where something is true for one or two geometries but not the other geometry. However, sometimes a property is true for all three geometries. These points bring us to the purpose of this paper. This paper is an opportunity for me to demonstrate my growing understanding about Euclidean Geometry , Spherical Geometry, and Hyperbolic Geometry. In my homework I used two different proofs to prove the Vertical Angle Theorem on a Euclidean plane and a sphere. The first idea I used was looking at the Vertical Angle Theorem using angle as measure. The second idea I used was looking at the Vertical Angle Theorem using angle as rotation. I have provided my homework so that one can see my reasoning behind both of these proofs. I found that they worked on a Euclidean plane and a sphere. Although I did not have to say if my proofs worked on a hyperbolic plane, I can say that they would because we can look at a hyperbolic plane locally. From Chapter 6 in our textbook Experiencing Geometry by Henderson and Taimina, we formulated a summary of the properties of geodesics on the plane, spheres, and hyperbolic planes. I feel this is a good homework assignment to mention in this paper. For the first part of the problem we were to explain why for every geodesic on the plane, sphere, and hyperbolic plane there is a reflection of the whole space through the geodesic. For the second part of the problem I showed that every geodesic on the plane, sphere, and hyperbolic plane can be extended indefinitely (in the sense that the bug can walk straight ahead indefinitely along any geodesic). The third part asked to show that for every pair of distinct points on the plane, sphere, and hyperbolic plane there is a (not necessarily unique) geodesic containing them. Foreign Language Deficit Analysis The United States education system lacks a national foreign language education requirement, which has resulted in a decline of foreign language learning opportunities. ( Education, 2010). Foreign language requirements and opportunities in the nation s schools are decreasing due to budget cuts (Skorton Altschuler, 2012). Out of the 50 states, only 10 states have a foreign language graduation requirement set for students ( Education, 2010). From 1997 to 2008, the number of elementary schools offering a foreign language decreased from 31% to 25%, while the number of middle schools dropped from 75% to 58%. Foreign language opportunities in high schools remained the same at around 91%; however, from 1994 to 2010 the percent of colleges that required foreign language study dropped from 67.5% to 50.7% (Skorton Altschuler, 2012). • 55. Persuasive Essay On The Public Transportation System What started out as a trip to Philadelphia ended up turning into a unique experience with public transportation. There is more to public transportation than hopping on a bus or train and just getting to your destination. There are unsaid rules that go along with riding in the public transportation system and the point of my exploration remix is to share these rules with any other college students who do not fully understand them. Without being aware of the unsaid rules, it is very easy to break them. I want to prevent college students from making the mistake of embarking on the public transportation system with no prior knowledge and prevent students from breaking any of the rules like I did. My remix serves to provide quick information for those who want to use public transportation. College students primarily will not take the time to seriously read through a handbook for public transportation nor sit down to watch a video. However, a flyer with only a few sentences is readable and convenient. All a flyer needs is a little bit of color and bold lettering and there it is! One of the rhetorical ideas I used was humor. Humor is a great tool when used correctly because the listener will start to pay attention when they laugh. I achieved this appeal to pathos by using cartoons on the flyer. It is easy to glance over something and not read it but when something small makes one chuckle, they will retain the information received. Using a tool such as humor allows the work to be memorable. Technologically this was a tough assignment. At first, the original plan was to make a short video type public service announcement. Unfortunately, I did not possess the knowledge to create one. Regardless, making a flyer may be more effective for college students. I have incredibly awful handwriting, so for me to draw any sort of flyer would be a waste of time. A more aesthetically pleasing method would be to create a flyer online using microsoft word, multiple colors as well as a small amount of photography. This is exactly what I did. There were many things I would have liked to do with the flyer, but since I lacked technical knowledge, I could not achieve these ideas. I would have liked to fade the photos behind the text so you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
