Pseodolus And The Fourth Wall
Pseodolus and the Fourth Wall
Leigh s statement that The edge of the stage is not an invisible boundary over which the actor must
never step but a garden wall across which the actor gossips and flirts with the public as if they were
neighbours seems to have captured the very essence of audience acknowledgement that is so present
in the play Pseudolus. Neither cast nor script of this comedy by Plautus seems particularly bothered by
any notion of the fourth wall, and the play is rife with both blatant and subtle character
acknowledgement of the audience. Indeed the notion that the fourth wall is some sort of impenetrable
barrier between performer and audience seems absurd when one examines the aims of theatre and
performance as a whole, and Pseudolus circumvents and breaches this supposed barrier with a variety
of means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is backed up by Livy s claim that in the old days all poets agebant, produced and acted in their
own plays and if it is true then the scene where Pseudolus speaks of playing the poet is vaguely
autobiographical in nature as Plautus who has taken on the role of Pseudolus to achieve the goal of
entertaining the audience now claims to be taking on a new role, which is in fact his original role, in
order to enable his role as Pseudolus to be enacted to full effect. This sort of referencing of events that
occur outside the play such as the nature of Plautus true identity is never stated outright in the play,
but one cannot ignore the fact that the play behaves as though it were aware of such knowledge. In the
context of Leigh s garden fence analogy, this would be the equivalent of the neighbour winking over
the fence in a silent joke at the secret you share, without ever actually mentioning

Fat Man Research Paper
The two Uranium masses would hit each other so hard it would be so great that the bomb would blow
itself apart. The second Atomic bomb was was dropped on Nagasaki named the fat man , which was
an implosion type weapon. The Fat Man device specifically used 13.6 lbs, about 12 US fl oz of Pu
239, which is only 41% of bare sphere critical mass. Surrounded by a U 238 reflector/tamper, the Fat
Man s pit was brought close to critical mass by the neutron reflecting properties of the U 238. During
detonation, criticality was gained by implosion. Implosion is where the Plutonium pit was squeezed to
increase its density and by detonating at the same time. The implosion method is considered more
sophisticated than the gun method and only can be used if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nuclear fission separates or splits heavier atoms to form lighter atoms. Nuclear fusion combines
together lighter atoms to form heavier atoms. Both reactions generate roughly a million times more
energy than comparable chemical reactions, making nuclear bombs a million times more powerful
than non nuclear bombs. This energy produces the blast and fire which are normally the purpose of a
nuclear explosion. Most fission products have too many neutrons to be stable so they are radioactive
by beta decay, converting neutrons into protons by throwing off beta particles and gamma rays.Which
makes thing called half lives. Their half lives range from milliseconds to about 200,000 years. Many
decay into isotopes that are themselves radioactive, so from 1 to 6 decays may be required to reach
stability. In reactors, the radioactive products are the nuclear waste in spent fuel. In bombs, they
become radioactive fallout, both local and

Inequality Faced by Christians in Today s Society Essay
This study shows an increase in inequality of Christians in other Countries. There is a increase in the
amount of restrictions and laws put on Christians and their Human Rights in other Countries with
more Government leaders putting guidelines on other religions and not liking the freedoms that the
people in the western Countries have, like the United States. What we can do to help with this
problem
The United Nations passed a Declaration that states:

The Effects Of Internal And International Migration On...
Results
We divide our analysis of the impacts of migration on how children allocate their time in the short run
in two parts. In the first part, we discuss the results of the effects of internal and international
migration on children s time outcomes using the treatment effect models, and in the second part, we
present the results of the analysis of time allocated to non school related activities and total studying
time using SUR and Heckman models. All of the models predict the number of hours allocated to each
activity per week.
Whether internal, international migration or both, the influence on children s time use may vary
depending on the activity we are observing. In addition, remittances could be the channel through
which migration impacts the time allocated to a particular activity, or there could be an effect
regardless of the reception of remittances. In order to identify general patterns, we first estimate OLS
regression models predicting the number of hours children allocate to each of the four activities of
interest (Table 4).
The results presented in Table 4 indicate that once adjusting for individual and household
characteristics, migration impacts children s allocation of time through different channels. Living in a
household with at least one international migrant but that does not receive remittances has a positive
and statistically significant association with the number of hours that children allocate to farm work
and study. Children allocate on average 8

English Language Essay
English has been used in many different ways since we ever started speaking it. Now as we move into
the future, English has and still will be used as an international language. Why is it considered so?
Also how did this come about? There are changes ongoing that affect English as a language, such as
employment opportunities and why it is important for any potential employer wishing to employ
someone. It is also used by professionals who are at work each day, on travel, or work related matters.
English is spoken in many different countries and many people there understand English as it is
required for business, travel etc. English is also a source of knowledge as it is needed to understand

Doctors and nurses may also use medical terminology when discussing something in front of a patient
in order to prevent undue anxiety. Medical jargon is not at all meant to speak in pig latin in front of a
patient. It is so that there is no mistake when doctors are conveying information about a patient to each
other. For example, to a lay person, fever may mean that the person feels hot, or that the temperature is
above 100 Fahrenheit. But no one really knows and can cause a lot of confusion. With medical terms,
things are very clear, so that even a surgeon in France can read a scientific journal article and know
exactly what the author means. That way, also, medicine can be global and that the medical societies
can share ideas and innovations. Since everything in a patient s medical records must be documented,
from signs and symptoms, to the patient s medical history, to the final diagnosis and treatment, it saves
the doctors and all other medical personnel a considerable amount of time to use a universally
accepted form of medical terminology. And, even more importantly to use medical terminology,
means it will be safer when all medical professionals, from doctors and nurses, lab techs to radiology
techs, etc. use the same universal medical terminology so they don t have to try to guess what was
ordered or charted on the patient s medical records or what procedure a patient needs.

The World Is Becoming A Dangerous Place
The world is becoming a dangerous place even, when you can not see it in the air unless you live in a
hometown full of toxic chemicals being produced by factories. Christiana Figueres has dedicated her
life to reducing the production of greenhouse gases. Climate change is happening everyday in front of
our eyes, but you can not see it or realize it. Christiana Figueres, the women faced with saving the
world from climate change, has made the greatest impact on climate change issues since the 2009
Copenhagen Climate Change Summit. When Christiana Figueres was a little girl growing up in Costa
Rica, she fell in love with the environment. She was raised in a very political family. Her father, Jose
Figueres Ferrer, served 3 terms as president of Costa Rica. During his terms, he founded the modern
Costa Rican democracy and removed the nation s standing army. Christiana s mother, Karen Olsen
Beck, served in the Costa Rican congress and was an ambassador to Israel. Growing up in a political
family had an impact on what the four children did with their future. All four children went into some
type of political position. Jose Maria Figueres, her older brother, served as president of Costa Rica in
the 1990 s and is now involved with climate change, technology and sustainable development.

Analysis Of Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber
IT S NOT ABOUT THE SIZE, IT S HOW YOU USE IT
How short stories pack the perfect punch in promoting feminist ideals.
The limited trajectory of short narrative concentrates its meaning. Sign and sense can fuse to an extent
impossible to achieve among the multiplying ambiguities of an extended narrative. Angela Carter
Angela Carter is known in the literary community for her use of fairytales and overt sexual imagery in
promoting feminist platforms. At the time she wrote The Bloody Chamber , the Second Wave of
Feminism and, subsequently, the rise of radical libertarian feminism were crashing into the forefront
of the global politics. This wave of feminism primarily focused on the empowerment of women
through the exploration of female sexual identity, the promotion of androgynous females as the ideal
model for the modern woman, and the liberation of women from the patriarchal societal traditions
established to keep women in their submissive gender role (Formizano). Angela Carter transforms the
classic fairytale Bluebeard into a masterful portrait of female sexual liberation, empowerment through
gender role reversal, and financial independence in The Bloody Chamber . A central dogma of
feminism is the separation of female sexuality from the societal confines of reproduction. In The
Bloody Chamber , the female protagonist is a seventeen year old virgin who goes on a journey of
sexual self actualization in her marriage to the Marquis. Throughout the narrative, we are

My Love Of Football-Personal Narrative
I had always been told my entire life that I should play football. Always the biggest kid in all of my
classes. People would ask me all the time what position I played, I had no idea what they were talking
about and they were always surprised when I told them that I had never played football, and that I had
never planned to. But the older, bigger, and stronger I got and the more encouragement I got, finally I
decided to play my sophomore year of highschool. There was one game I will always remember that
really kick started my love and passion for the game.
It was an away game, at Valley Center, we had been doing good the entire night. I played on the
offensive line, left tackle, and was excited to be in the action. We were up the whole game and the
fourth quarter was approaching fast, and that was a good thing. I was beginning to get tired from all
the playing, trying to catch my breath in between plays seemed like a Herculean task at the time, but I
continued to do my job because it s what I had to do.

heard nothing but the thud of the kid hitting the ground. I turned back to see all the other linemen
looking up at me from there three point stance, and our quarterback with the ball in his hands kneeling
on the turf. That was game, we had won, and the kid I drove to the dirt got up, looked me in the eyes

Drosophila Summary
The Image above shows you how a VRN works, it basically provides a virtual world, in this case it s a
building with windows that are labeled and the target windows are marked with X. This allows
participants to create a cognitive map of that area. In their trials they used sensor movements in a
wheelchair to capture where the individual is moving in the virtual world. This technique is beneficial
with the brain of a Drosophila and how they all exhibited similar deposits of A B reactive material.
The article concluded with The RI PCA approach therefore offers the potential to derive protease
resistant Aβ interacting peptides that are capable of lowering the toxicity associated with amyloid,
which may in turn serve as potential precursors for an Alzheimer s disease treatment. Which looked
promising considering all the different methods performed and the results looking promising. The only
problem is there was no human trial, they used a Drosophila, which means there is still along ways to

Time In The Great Gatsby
The concept of time is mentioned in The Great Gatsby at least 450 times, through character names,
nouns, and occurrences. Time being such a heavily focused on subject in the novel shows how focused
F. Scott Fitzgerald was on showing the positives and negatives of making time an important aspect of
how life is perceived and lived. Fitzgerald s outlook on time is one of longing and regret, portrayed in
Gatsby s persona, actions, and hopefulness.
Gatsby is born a poor man with not much to show for himself in his early life, until he meets a rich
young lady who flips his world upside down. Daisy shows Gatsby her love built on broken promises
as she promises to marry him once he comes home from Oxford but ends up marrying Tom Buchanan
before Gatsby can be home to stop the wedding. Once Gatsby realizes this as he returns home, he
shapes his life around doing nothing but creating a world that would bring Daisy back into his arms
just like their younger days. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is insinuated that Gatsby did not make his money in the most ethical way when Tom shares that he
found what your drug stores were and explains that Gatsby and Wolfsheim purchased side street drug
stores and sold alcohol over the counter, which was illegal at the time (Fitzgerald 100). Gatsby covers
this scheme up with talk of inheriting his money from old family, but is not very consistent in his lies,
as Nick notices him use several different answers at separate times. I think he hardly knew what he
was saying when I asked him what business he was in he answered, That s my affair before he realized
that it wasn t the appropriate reply (Fitzgerald 103). While Gatsby may have been successful in his
illegal money affairs, this does not mean his efforts were not wasted on someone unworthy of the time

John Huston s The Dead
John Huston s The Dead, which was produced in 1987, was based on James Joyce s The Dead , the
last story to be written in his famous novella Dubliners . The film adaptation serves as a careful
rendering of the story, with a few exceptions of some newly introduced characters and emphasized
and minimized importance of other characters in the film compared to the original story. Such an
example is Mr. Grace, an additional character in the film who recited aloud the poem Broken Vows .
What exactly was Huston s purpose in adding a character not originally included in the story?

Grace at the Feast of the Epiphany and within the first twenty minutes of the film is titled Broken

Lady Augusta Gregory, a prominent dramatist at the time period in which the story took place. In
actuality, the poem is titled The Grief of a Girl s Heart , an orally traditional poem in Irish folklore
with an unknown author. The original poem consists of 14 stanzas, which speaks of a tale of love and
betrayal where a young woman is in love with a man who promises her the world, only to get
abandoned by him in the end. The version Mr. Grace read aloud was composed of six stanzas. Pilipp
claims that this was because including the entire poem as part of the recitation would have added a
more than subtle reminder to Gretta of her young love and a certain incongruity with Joyce s original
plot (61). Having the entire poem equally measured to the song would have taken away from the
importance of the song as Joyce meant it to be in the same way that having part of the poem recited in
the story gave a lead into how Gretta s feelings for Michael Furey recurred. As the first stanza was
recited, it became evident that Mr. Grace got his character s name based on the fluidity and persuasion

The Argument for Shakespeare Being the Real Author
Ever since the author s background has been questioned, scholars and other people have debated over
who wrote the famous plays and sonnets that have the name William Shakespeare signed on them.
Many alternative candidates have been presented, such as Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford.
However, these people do not have strong or valid arguments to support their theories. Based on
biographical evidence, Shakespeare, not Edward de Vere, most likely wrote Shakespearean works. The
arguments for other candidates like de Vere are not strong enough to show that Shakespeare did not
write Shakespearean works. The argument for Edward de Vere does sound plausible at first. Many
connections have been made to Oxford s life and Hamlet (Bethell). ... Show more content on

McCrea even mentions that the difference in French is very visible when comparing the studied, high
school French of Henry V to the assured expression of Oxford s 1563 letter . Oxford s supposed
motive does not help him, either. It is noted that Oxford did write under his name, and he is the
acknowledged author of sixteen poems and the probable author of four more (Edmondson 42 43). Not
only that, but Oxford also has been praised for writing comedies. One of these people is Francis Mere,
who wrote:

Notice how not only Oxford is praised, but Shakespeare is highly praised, too. There would be no
reason for Oxford to not get credit for highly praised works if he is not hiding the fact that he writes in
the first place. Despite the weakness of their argument, Oxfordians claim that Shakespeare s
background makes Shakespeare less likely to have written Shakespearean works. Shakespeare

The Significance Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By...
Love is a powerful motivator in the world. While love isn t tangible, it is all around us in the world. In
our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love
too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts,
their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is
the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a
tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn
t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that
remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent
if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine
the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early,
with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love
(Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early
on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that,
Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not
able to observe this convention (Landau). To

The central role of enzymes is to function as biological catalysts. Since the fundamental tasks of a
protein is to act as an enzyme, catalysts increase the rate of the activation energy within a cell. Cell
contain thousands of different enzymes, and their activities determine what chemical reaction will take
place within the cell. The enzyme and the activation energy function as a process within the cell,
chemical reactions do not just occur spontaneously or sporadically. Enzymes control the productivity
and speed of chemical reactions within our body, it s important to understand how they catalyze and

There is a class of related enzymes known as Phenolases. These enzymes catalyze the oxidation of

It s Time for a Universal Code of Ethics for Public Relations
Contemporary public relations is a twentieth century phenomenon that evolved from the press gentry
of the 1800s. These old time press agents played upon the credulity of the public in its desire to be
entertained, whether or not they were deceived. Advertisements and press releases were often
exaggerated to the point of being complete falsifications. In promoting an attraction, press agents
dropped multitudes of tickets on the newspaper editors desk along with the releases. Voluminous
publicity for the attraction usually resulted, and reporters, editors, and their families flocked to the free
entertainment with scant regard for any ethical constraints (Wilcox, Ault, Agee ... Show more content

Roots such as these have created the skepticism with which the public views the field of public
relations. Furthermore, it is the duty of practitioners to create positive images for businesses and
organizations. Therefore, other, more recent issues have augmented Americans mistrust in the business
world in general, including the Watergate Affair and the business and government related scandals of
the 1980s, such as the near collapse of the savings and loan industry. The American public is
demanding higher ethical practices from business firms and organizations than it did in the past
(Wilcox, Ault, Agee 116).
How Public Relations Practitioners are Perceived
Despite pressure from the public, very little empirical evidence on the ethics of public relations
practitioners exists. As recently as the spring of 1988, a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
task force could only uncover 16 journal articles and two books as initial readings that dealt with
ethics issues in length (Pratt, Empirical 230).
However, one study conducted in 1989, has revealed the pathetic state of ethics in, and has called into
question the credibility, professional integrity and public image of, public relations (229). In the broad
field of mass communications, of which public relations practitioners are considered a part, the
occupation is viewed with cynicism. For example, an investigation of journalists attitudes toward
public relations, conducted in

Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre released the Daguerreotype image. Photography would remain from
this point a relatively expensive and crude medium that would slowly progress through the years. In
1877 Eadweard Muybridge created a fast shutter that was capable of capturing motion. This in itself
was iconic and Eadweard would later be considered a pioneer for the digital image due to his work on
locomotion (famously the galloping horse). Photography ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expressive type is essentially a method of design where text is used to create some kind of image. As
shown in the references, there is a finished piece of work for this task, the poster uses type to create
the character Tyrion from the TV show Game of Thrones. The type in the poster is actually a quote
from the character and is formed in a way to shape the characters stance from an iconic moment for
him. The development of this poster involved using a previously created illustration of the character
and mixing it with typography. The original image was placed into the Adobe Illustrator software as it
provided a lot of tools for type. The text was then written out and reshaped to form the body of the
character. The typeface was selected carefully as it was meant to match the minimalistic style of the
previous illustration, therefore the typeface was sans serif. After this part of the development was
complete, the image was moved into Photoshop where the colour from the image would be given to
the text. A few basic finishing touches were given by adding blocks of colour near certain letters to
help bring the shape of the character out.
Every typeface we see, be it a street sign or a billboard has likely been carefully planned out to
provoke certain thoughts and feelings into the reader. Before looking into the design side of
typography it is important to understand the history. Way back in the 1400 s the standard was
handwritten type, this was obviously very time

Cellular Respiration Of Yeast Lab Report
Abstract:
This experiment is to examine, analyze and investigate the affects of pollutants on a simple organism
(yeast) and how the pollutants modify a simple organisms (yeast) rate to carry out cellular respiration.
Cellular respiration is an organism s ability to convert nutrients into energy (ATP). This experiment is
a method of addressing the way pollutants can interfere with an organism s ability to cellular respire
that can negatively affect life in an environment. Different pollutants (Isopropyl alcohol, vinegar, salt

Essay on Machiavelli and the Roman Empire
Machiavelli argued, as Hegel would later, that one must look to history and the accounts of previous
nations events in order to quot;sense...that flavor that they have in themselves quot; in common with
those from the past (Discourses 6). This seems to follow the adage that those who do not learn from
history are doomed to repeat it, yet for Machiavelli he seems more concerned with actually emulating
history in order to repeat success than looking out for particular things to avoid. For this reason, he
pulls examples from an eclectic range of histories in order to demonstrate how his principles in both

Starting out as a principality, one prince after the other begins to quot;surpass the others in
sumptuousness and lasciviousness, quot; prompting the people to overthrow him to rid themselves of
his tyranny. An aristocracy, which Machiavelli means as a rule of the Good, then takes control, but
shortly thereafter they too succumb to the temptation of exploiting their power. Again, the masses
must usurp the rule of the few and, still remembering what events had transpired in the past, they keep
the power for themselves and establish a popular state. In spite of their good intentions, the people
soon find they can t keep a firm control on the populace ( quot;a thousand injuries were done every

if the transitions didn t weaken the state to such a degree that its lasting one complete turn of the cycle
is less likely than becoming quot;subject to a neighboring state that is ordered better than it quot;

of how a state, fortunate to not have been overtaken, will cycle through different types of rule due to

Biological Effects of Radiation
Radiosensitivity
DNA as main cellular target
Cellular role of DNA DNA is a double helix molecule made up of two sugar phosphate backbones that
are linked together at the bases: Adenine Thymine and Guanine Cytosine. DNA is responsible for
cellular structure and function.
Direct vs. indirect DNA damage ** Direct damage Direct ionization has charged particles such as
alpha, protons, and electrons. Direct damage to the nucleus of the atom is the direct damage to the
DNA cell. Has the ability to rip electrons off of an atom. Indirect Damage Indirect ionization is with x
rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Indirect ionizations cause secondary effects:
Radiolysis splitting of water. An electron can be ejected to form h20+.
This electron can be absorbed by another atom to form h20 . These ions can form ion pairs or highly
reactive free radicals. All can recombine to form water, hydrogen peroxide, or interact with the
cellular components of a cell such as the nucleus. (Radiation Therapy Essentials Board

The Theory Of Human Morality Essay
Argument While the author have attempted to present experimental support for many of his
conclusions, his interpretation of empirical observations suffers from two primary defects. First of all,
he underestimated the role of selection in shaping many aspects of morality; such selection influences
moral decisions through biological and cultural mechanism, and could explain many phenomena that
author claims to be accidental; second, his approach in distinguishing innate, intuitive moral sense
from deliberated, rational moral judgment overlooked their evolutionary connections. As I will argue
in subsequent paragraphs, rational and intuitive moralities may be the products of coordinated
evolution; a reciprocal interaction between the two underlies moral development of a typical human
being. These two defects are not trivial ones: they might shake author s major argument that human
morality arises from a limited set of inborn moral principles and matures only through reasoning to its
roots. They show that the author overlooked the evolutionary logic behind the innate component of
morality, and negated the connection between evolution and rational morality. In general, the defects
makes the author s argument difficult to fit into the broad context of evolution. In the final chapter of
the book, the author divided our potential targets of interactions into three main categories: kin, in
group and strangers. Generally, these categories correspond to three major forms of

each of the following; temperature greater than 38 C, absence of cough, tender anterior cervical lymph

symptoms are met, a rapid strep test will be performed before antibiotics are given, a precaution taken

If a streptococcal infection such as pharyngitis or scarlet fever is left untreated, there is a small (~3%)
chance that within approximately 20 days, the patient will present with rheumatic fever. After the first

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Essay
Introduction:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is preventable disease that has a detrimental effects
on both the airway and lung parenchyma (Nazir Erbland, 2009). COPD categorises emphysema and
chronic bronchitis, both of which are characterised by a reduced maximum expiratory flow and slow
but forced emptying of the lungs (Jeffery 1998). The disease has the one of the highest number of
fatalities in the developed world due to the ever increasing amount of tobacco smokers and is
associated with significant morbidity and mortality (Marx, Hockberger Walls, 2014). Signs and
symptoms that indicate the presence of the disease include a productive cough, wheezing, dyspnoea

It has been found that 12% of moderate and 26% of heavy smokers will develop a form of COPD in
the later stages of life (Larsson, 2007). These statistic are shown to increase significantly as those who
smoke age with approximately 50% of smokers diagnosed with COPD by the age of 75 (Larsson,
2007). It has been found that 90% of chronic bronchitis patients have developed the disease because of
a long standing history of tobacco smoking (TXT). Other important factors include air pollution,
occupational hazards, advanced age, airway hyper responsiveness, diet, alcohol consumption and
heredity (Edelman et al., 1992). Although mortality rates for COPD have decreased due to the
progression of medical care, COPD currently has one of the highest mortality rates throughout the
developed world (Viegi et al., 2001). It currently ranks as the third highest burden of disease in
Australasia and the ninth highest worldwide (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2013). The
number of people with COPD is predicted to rapidly increase globally over the coming decades as the
tobacco epidemic continues (Viegi et al. 2001). COPD also places a large economic burden on the
world with the costs of treatment and care as well as the days of work lost (Viegi et al. 2001).

countless human lives. In addition, there is the great Irena Sendler. She was a person who changed for
good the destiny of many people during War World II. She smuggled around 2500 Jewish children to a
safe place and provided them with all the necessary things for them to survive.

Research Paper On Sex Offenders

4/25/16
Imagine a life of not choosing how a person s day will go, being forced to life a certain way. Most
people have no idea what it feels like to be in prison, statistically only one out of every five people
will know what it s like to be in prison. Most of us imagine that prison life must be hard and extremely
difficult to endure, but because of the life long lasting debt to society many struggle with adapting to
life on the outside. Much of their time is structured, as they are told where they can live, how they can
interact with people, or even where the can work. Many lives of the convicted are hindered because of
the laws we have set in place for them.
The words sex offender immediately make you think of horrible memories of a crime show that
portraits sex offenders being a stranger who over and over again rapes women, or a pedophile harming
multiple children but in many cases this is not the case. Worldwide sexual offenders are the most
sought out to continue to offend even after sentencing. Investigated by the bureau of justice statistics it
showed that us of 9,700 tracked sex offenders only 5.3% of these were re arrested for a sex offense.
No matter what the offense was if you re convicted of all have to register as a sex offender. This
means you have to give out your name, address and photograph because you could potentially offend
again, but this registry can begin to cause more unintended harm.

What Is The Relationship Between Thoma s And Kiras...
Thomas s and Kira s Friendship Gathering Blue Learning Contract (Number Two) Thomas and Kira
had a Superb friendship from the start in the interest of, if they just hated each other, then they would
get lonely because they were the only ones there until they met Jo. Thomas having been there since he
was really little was probably desperate for a friend. In Fact, he probably caused trouble as a tyke as a
result of him having nothing else to do once he finished a day s worth of work. When Kira came he
was so happy because he finally had someone to talk to. Imagine not having anyone remotely close to
your ge to talk to in years. So at first, I felt that the friendship was kind of forced. I mean, if I was one
of the two people I knew then I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kira is almost a mother to Jo. Without Thomas, Kira wouldn t of met Jo. I have to say Kira s and Matt
s friendship is anything but sub par and it is the foundation of the early story, Thomas and Kira see
each other much more often. This is the most important and intricate friendship. With Thomas and
Kira they are friends because they had to be. However, they are much better friends in the middle and
end of the story. Thus, I think that this makes it the most important. With Matt, I am led to believe that
Matt only likes Kira because she gives him food. Thomas and Kira are extremely good friends, and
that is not because they were forced to be friends either. They were good friends before, but realizing
that they would be friends anyway, they became much better friends. Considering that they are both
artists they decided that they must work together or be alone. The importance of Thomas is the fact
that in essence, Thomas is almost Kira s Tour Guide/Mentor/Teacher. Without Thomas, when Matt is
not around, all Kira would have for support is a scrap of thread. Thomas is a creative problem solver
just like Kira. Thomas knows how to read and write which Kira tries to figure out own her own.

  • 2. Pseodolus And The Fourth Wall Pseodolus and the Fourth Wall Leigh s statement that The edge of the stage is not an invisible boundary over which the actor must never step but a garden wall across which the actor gossips and flirts with the public as if they were neighbours seems to have captured the very essence of audience acknowledgement that is so present in the play Pseudolus. Neither cast nor script of this comedy by Plautus seems particularly bothered by any notion of the fourth wall, and the play is rife with both blatant and subtle character acknowledgement of the audience. Indeed the notion that the fourth wall is some sort of impenetrable barrier between performer and audience seems absurd when one examines the aims of theatre and performance as a whole, and Pseudolus circumvents and breaches this supposed barrier with a variety of means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is backed up by Livy s claim that in the old days all poets agebant, produced and acted in their own plays and if it is true then the scene where Pseudolus speaks of playing the poet is vaguely autobiographical in nature as Plautus who has taken on the role of Pseudolus to achieve the goal of entertaining the audience now claims to be taking on a new role, which is in fact his original role, in order to enable his role as Pseudolus to be enacted to full effect. This sort of referencing of events that occur outside the play such as the nature of Plautus true identity is never stated outright in the play, but one cannot ignore the fact that the play behaves as though it were aware of such knowledge. In the context of Leigh s garden fence analogy, this would be the equivalent of the neighbour winking over the fence in a silent joke at the secret you share, without ever actually mentioning ... • 3. Fat Man Research Paper The two Uranium masses would hit each other so hard it would be so great that the bomb would blow itself apart. The second Atomic bomb was was dropped on Nagasaki named the fat man , which was an implosion type weapon. The Fat Man device specifically used 13.6 lbs, about 12 US fl oz of Pu 239, which is only 41% of bare sphere critical mass. Surrounded by a U 238 reflector/tamper, the Fat Man s pit was brought close to critical mass by the neutron reflecting properties of the U 238. During detonation, criticality was gained by implosion. Implosion is where the Plutonium pit was squeezed to increase its density and by detonating at the same time. The implosion method is considered more sophisticated than the gun method and only can be used if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nuclear fission separates or splits heavier atoms to form lighter atoms. Nuclear fusion combines together lighter atoms to form heavier atoms. Both reactions generate roughly a million times more energy than comparable chemical reactions, making nuclear bombs a million times more powerful than non nuclear bombs. This energy produces the blast and fire which are normally the purpose of a nuclear explosion. Most fission products have too many neutrons to be stable so they are radioactive by beta decay, converting neutrons into protons by throwing off beta particles and gamma rays.Which makes thing called half lives. Their half lives range from milliseconds to about 200,000 years. Many decay into isotopes that are themselves radioactive, so from 1 to 6 decays may be required to reach stability. In reactors, the radioactive products are the nuclear waste in spent fuel. In bombs, they become radioactive fallout, both local and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a increase in the amount of restrictions and laws put on Christians and their Human Rights in other Countries with more Government leaders putting guidelines on other religions and not liking the freedoms that the people in the western Countries have, like the United States. What we can do to help with this problem The United Nations passed a Declaration that states: Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and ... • 5. The Effects Of Internal And International Migration On... Results We divide our analysis of the impacts of migration on how children allocate their time in the short run in two parts. In the first part, we discuss the results of the effects of internal and international migration on children s time outcomes using the treatment effect models, and in the second part, we present the results of the analysis of time allocated to non school related activities and total studying time using SUR and Heckman models. All of the models predict the number of hours allocated to each activity per week. Whether internal, international migration or both, the influence on children s time use may vary depending on the activity we are observing. In addition, remittances could be the channel through which migration impacts the time allocated to a particular activity, or there could be an effect regardless of the reception of remittances. In order to identify general patterns, we first estimate OLS regression models predicting the number of hours children allocate to each of the four activities of interest (Table 4). The results presented in Table 4 indicate that once adjusting for individual and household characteristics, migration impacts children s allocation of time through different channels. Living in a household with at least one international migrant but that does not receive remittances has a positive and statistically significant association with the number of hours that children allocate to farm work and study. Medical jargon is not at all meant to speak in pig latin in front of a patient. It is so that there is no mistake when doctors are conveying information about a patient to each other. For example, to a lay person, fever may mean that the person feels hot, or that the temperature is above 100 Fahrenheit. But no one really knows and can cause a lot of confusion. With medical terms, things are very clear, so that even a surgeon in France can read a scientific journal article and know exactly what the author means. That way, also, medicine can be global and that the medical societies can share ideas and innovations. Since everything in a patient s medical records must be documented, from signs and symptoms, to the patient s medical history, to the final diagnosis and treatment, it saves the doctors and all other medical personnel a considerable amount of time to use a universally accepted form of medical terminology. And, even more importantly to use medical terminology, means it will be safer when all medical professionals, from doctors and nurses, lab techs to radiology techs, etc. use the same universal medical terminology so they don t have to try to guess what was ordered or charted on the patient s medical records or what procedure a patient needs. • 8. Analysis Of Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber IT S NOT ABOUT THE SIZE, IT S HOW YOU USE IT How short stories pack the perfect punch in promoting feminist ideals. The limited trajectory of short narrative concentrates its meaning. Sign and sense can fuse to an extent impossible to achieve among the multiplying ambiguities of an extended narrative. Angela Carter Angela Carter is known in the literary community for her use of fairytales and overt sexual imagery in promoting feminist platforms. At the time she wrote The Bloody Chamber , the Second Wave of Feminism and, subsequently, the rise of radical libertarian feminism were crashing into the forefront of the global politics. This wave of feminism primarily focused on the empowerment of women through the exploration of female sexual identity, the promotion of androgynous females as the ideal model for the modern woman, and the liberation of women from the patriarchal societal traditions established to keep women in their submissive gender role (Formizano). Angela Carter transforms the classic fairytale Bluebeard into a masterful portrait of female sexual liberation, empowerment through gender role reversal, and financial independence in The Bloody Chamber . A central dogma of feminism is the separation of female sexuality from the societal confines of reproduction. In The Bloody Chamber , the female protagonist is a seventeen year old virgin who goes on a journey of sexual self actualization in her marriage to the Marquis. Throughout the narrative, we are ... In actuality, the poem is titled The Grief of a Girl s Heart , an orally traditional poem in Irish folklore with an unknown author. The original poem consists of 14 stanzas, which speaks of a tale of love and betrayal where a young woman is in love with a man who promises her the world, only to get abandoned by him in the end. The version Mr. Grace read aloud was composed of six stanzas. Pilipp claims that this was because including the entire poem as part of the recitation would have added a more than subtle reminder to Gretta of her young love and a certain incongruity with Joyce s original plot (61). Having the entire poem equally measured to the song would have taken away from the importance of the song as Joyce meant it to be in the same way that having part of the poem recited in the story gave a lead into how Gretta s feelings for Michael Furey recurred. Based on biographical evidence, Shakespeare, not Edward de Vere, most likely wrote Shakespearean works. In our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts, their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early, with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love (Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that, Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not able to observe this convention (Landau). Essay on Machiavelli and the Roman Empire Machiavelli argued, as Hegel would later, that one must look to history and the accounts of previous nations events in order to quot;sense...that flavor that they have in themselves quot; in common with those from the past (Discourses 6). This seems to follow the adage that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, yet for Machiavelli he seems more concerned with actually emulating history in order to repeat success than looking out for particular things to avoid. For this reason, he pulls examples from an eclectic range of histories in order to demonstrate how his principles in both The Prince and the Discourses on Livy, when followed, will lead to a successful state. Starting out as a principality, one prince after the other begins to quot;surpass the others in sumptuousness and lasciviousness, quot; prompting the people to overthrow him to rid themselves of his tyranny. An aristocracy, which Machiavelli means as a rule of the Good, then takes control, but shortly thereafter they too succumb to the temptation of exploiting their power. Again, the masses must usurp the rule of the few and, still remembering what events had transpired in the past, they keep the power for themselves and establish a popular state. In spite of their good intentions, the people soon find they can t keep a firm control on the populace ( quot;a thousand injuries were done every day quot;) so they regress to a principality. Such a sequence of events would likely go on ad infinitum if the transitions didn t weaken the state to such a degree that its lasting one complete turn of the cycle is less likely than becoming quot;subject to a neighboring state that is ordered better than it quot; (Discourse 11 13). • 37. The Theory Of Human Morality Essay Argument While the author have attempted to present experimental support for many of his conclusions, his interpretation of empirical observations suffers from two primary defects. First of all, he underestimated the role of selection in shaping many aspects of morality; such selection influences moral decisions through biological and cultural mechanism, and could explain many phenomena that author claims to be accidental; second, his approach in distinguishing innate, intuitive moral sense from deliberated, rational moral judgment overlooked their evolutionary connections. As I will argue in subsequent paragraphs, rational and intuitive moralities may be the products of coordinated evolution; a reciprocal interaction between the two underlies moral development of a typical human being. These two defects are not trivial ones: they might shake author s major argument that human morality arises from a limited set of inborn moral principles and matures only through reasoning to its roots. They show that the author overlooked the evolutionary logic behind the innate component of morality, and negated the connection between evolution and rational morality. In general, the defects makes the author s argument difficult to fit into the broad context of evolution. In the final chapter of the book, the author divided our potential targets of interactions into three main categories: kin, in group and strangers. Generally, these categories correspond to three major forms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
