to The Northern Echo
1. Create a Premium Priced magazine
which is made to the highest
quality, similarly to The Northern
Echo
1. Create a Film Magazine which
appeals to a primary audience of
16-18 year olds
1. Create a self financed magazine
which will be sold in local
wholesalers
- I have a huge interest in Film Studies due to studying it
at AS and A Level for the past 2 years.
- Film is a broad subject with multiple subtopics that can
be covered within a magazine.
- Their is the gap in the market for a local Film magazine
as the majority of them are hollywood based: Empire and
Total Film
- The amount of people that have an interest in the topic
is huge- whether it be small or large.

Your product can be in any style or genre but it must be self financed through sales or advertising. You must also produce your magazine for a specified audience segment within the 16-25 age group. “ ”
  • 3. HOW WILL I MEET MY BRIEF? 1. Created a Magazine Idea with the audience of BC1 which is similar to The Northern Echo 1. Create a Premium Priced magazine which is made to the highest quality, similarly to The Northern Echo 1. Create a Film Magazine which appeals to a primary audience of 16-18 year olds 1. Create a self financed magazine which will be sold in local wholesalers
  • 4. - I have a huge interest in Film Studies due to studying it at AS and A Level for the past 2 years. - Film is a broad subject with multiple subtopics that can be covered within a magazine. - Their is the gap in the market for a local Film magazine as the majority of them are hollywood based: Empire and Total Film - The amount of people that have an interest in the topic is huge- whether it be small or large. WHY FILM?

AUDIENCE PROFILE - Age Bracket of 16-18 year olds - BC1 Socio-Economic Status - 60:40 Female to Male gender ratio - Tribes mix between Vloggers and Super Fans - Education Status: Studying in College or just left - Possibly have a Part Time Job - Low Income if Part Time job is applicable - Monthly magazine - buying behaviours - £4.00

THINGS TO CONSIDER SECONDARY AUDIENCE - 19-24 year olds; studying a film course at university or that have an ongoing interest in the subject The Northern Echo Audience; people who read The Northern Echo may read my magazine - as I am their client Taboo Language Jargon Subject Specific Lexis Need to ensure that these features don’t confuse the secondary audience
  • 8. THINGS TO CONSIDER LEGAL RESTRICTIONS - CONSTRAINTS: This organisation ensures that journalists follow rules which are in place to protect the public's welfare. This includes points such as: accuracy, harassment, privacy etc.

FOCUS GROUP BRIEF After giving a brief of a Film genre magazine, here is some of the feedback I received: “This magazine is unique with a gap in the market” “A whole new audience of the growing film students in the area” “The photography for this magazine may be an issue” “the wide range of articles that could be explored and written would be fabulous for a magazine”
