FMP idea?
I am goingto make a film trailer for a film about
the keysto the internet.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I havedecided tomake this trailer becauseI saw
thatthese keys existed when I was on the
internet, andI thoughtthatthey would make a
good film or shortfilm. However, I don’tknow
enoughpeople to makea short film and due to
covid I would struggle to be able to make it
anyway so I have decided to make a trailer about
it to give an idea aboutwhat the film would be
like. This also meansthat I can focus moreon
soundeffects andmusic more. For example, I will
be able toplan each shotto the music which I find
easier, and I find thatI can produce better work if
I plan tomusic.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
This project is importanttome because I really
want to makesomethingthatis goingto get a
goodgrade and I alsothink that it is a really
interesting subject andit’s somethingthatI'm
interested in and I think it would be goodfor
other people toknow thatthese keys exist. I think
thatthis subject is interesting because the
internet isn’ta centralised thing, soknowing that
a lot of the worldsbiggest websites and DNS
servers are centralised andsomepeople have
enoughpower to turnthem off is very interesting
to me because of the amountof the power that
they have over people andmostpeople don’t
even knowthat these ordinary 7 people exist.

I came up with this idea because I saw a YouTube
video which talkedabout‘the keysto the internet’
andaboutthe people who hold them. I did not
knowthat they existed before, andI think that a
lot of other people don’t knowhis either and I
think that it’s interesting. I amgoing to be
researching who ownsthe keysandhow they
work. I am also goingto be researching whomade
them, where they are, andhow they are
importanttoeveryone thatuses the internet
today. Black mirror has also influenced me
because it showsdifferent realities that could
possibly happenif certain things were possibleor
if technology reached a certain point. I think that

What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want my audience to realise how muchpower
the internet has overus in our time in history and
how muchpower the people that own these keys
have. I want them toknow thatthe internet is a
physicalthing thatcan be turnedoff and might
notalways be there. The reasonthat I want
people to knowthis is because I think thatpeople
take the internet for granted withoutknowing
how it works or anythingaboutit. They also just
give their information away and accept different
pop-upsandthey don’treally knowwhat they are
doing, andthey don’t'think thatit actually
matters.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
The tone of my film trailer is goingto be very
dramatic, and it is going to be very dark. Thisis
because I think thatit wouldwork better in that
was as a lot of the trailer is goingto implement
power and jeopardy which is hard to makeseem
light-hearted. I amgoing to usinga lot of dark
lighting, this is so thatit seems like anotherworld
thatpeople don’tknowor think about. Thereason
thatI am going to dothis is because the internet
is kind of like an entirely different world tothe
one we live in.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedecided tomake a project in thisstyle
because I think thatI could make it seem very
tense andI would like towork with somethinglike
this andI think that I couldbe good at it. This is
because I knowI am goodat doingdark and
dramatic colour gradingand I am goodat making
thingslook intense. I would alsolike to work with
dramatic musicand soundeffects. I am also
makingit in thisway because I don’thavea lot of
goodfilming locationsto work with andI also
don’thavea lot of space or people to work with. I
have oneand sometimestwo people to work with
so I need toreuse a lot of places and people andI
need to makeit sothat the audience can’t tell
thoseplaces havebeen reused or that it is just a
tiny room.
