TAFE Elearning Systems conducted a trial of the Moodle 2008 VLE platform. The trial demonstrated that Moodle provides easy tools for teachers to create learning sequences and offers various learning, communication, and assessment tools. 25 courses across all faculties were running on the system, and teacher and student feedback was very positive about the ease of use. Minimal training and administration was required to set up courses. The goals are to further develop faculty branding of Moodle courseware, integrate Moodle with other systems like SharePoint, and roll out the iilearnspace model institute-wide by January 2009.

In September 2010, the University of Montreal decided that the institutional platform would be Moodle 2.0. In January 2011, around 15 courses with groups of 20 to 60 students are given and a course site is automatically created for each teacher in charge of a section during the session. This represents more than 2000 course sites. The idea is to give the opportunity to all the teachers who wish it to explore Moodle 2.0, to learn and to begin creating their first courses. This big scale opening’s intention is to generate enthusiasm among users and a strong adhesion of the teaching community. During this conference we will present what we have put in place to achieve this challenge, the resources produced, the discoveries made, the problems met and the observations done.

He discussed concepts from quantum physics like entanglement, superposition, and the quantum vacuum that could provide a new paradigm for how knowledge is understood. Young proposed moving from separate explicit and tacit knowledge domains to a unified global repository of knowledge accessible to all. Ron Young gave a presentation at KM Asia in Singapore on November 23rd 2010 about knowledge management, innovation, and quantum science. He discussed concepts from quantum physics like entanglement, superposition, and the quantum vacuum that could provide a new paradigm for how knowledge is understood. Young proposed moving from separate explicit and tacit knowledge domains to a unified global repository of knowledge accessible to all. He suggested quantum science ideas could catalyze new theories of knowledge and help recognize a unified field of information.

Whether you are going to join a company as an employee or build a company, you are a startup in your own way. Everyone typically asks me, "Why are you an entrepreneur?", "Why do you move from research to business?", "How do you manage failure if things do not work out?" and "What have you learned from your startups and investments?". To make this talk simple, I share a few lessons particular managing failure in my own journey till now, and some lessons in working with people within the Southeast Asia entrepreneurial ecosystem. The talk is delivered on 19 Nov 2013 for RIE event @ Nanyang Polytechnic.

The Open University of the Netherlands (OUNL) has adopted the concept of the personal learning and working environment (PLWE) as the future delivery platform of its educational services to students. This concept means that students should be able to shape their own personal virtual (learning) environment, based on individual tool and technology preferences .
To support this concept the OUNL faces the challenge of setting up an architecture and investing in the development of a set of educational services that can be integrated not only in the institutional learning environment, but that can also be merged with personal environments.
In this presentation we describe the first steps of a distance teaching university in its move towards this PLWE concept. This means reconsidering the role and position of the current, more traditional VLE, and developing new educational services that aim at getting students more committed and involved, inspired by the success of current web2.0 technology.

The ENHANCE project aimed to enhance the application of JISC outputs at UWIC. It sought to improve staff skills for technology enhanced learning and encourage use of new technologies. UWIC's Cardiff School of Management requires undergraduate students to complete work placements and maintain a reflective log of their experiences. Initially, an e-portfolio tool called Expo was used, but it had limitations. The ePPSME model was designed as a solution. It uses PebblePad webfolios to provide context-sensitive learning content, blogs, and an all-in-one learning platform to better support students during work placements. Feedback found that the ePPSME model increases engagement and helps students develop reflection skills.
