#ChalkAboutIt

  BEN BILLESDON
Instagram

 Over 50 pictures taken and uploaded to Instagram
 Only one person could sign into the account at a time
  between the team
 Couldn’t be uploaded to the Flash Mob Facebook or
  Twitter accounts
 Future endeavors should integrate with other
  platforms
Pinterest

 Posted hints about the Flash Mob in days leading up
  to the event
 Fell short because not a lot of people use Pinterest
and it is not good for same day event coverage
Doodle.ly

 5 people created doodles overall
 People could not tweet out their doodles directly
 Could work well for contests and promotions but
doesn’t really work well with something as
 spontaneous as a Flash Mob
YouTube

 173 views on both videos
 Pre and Post videos created a buzz
 More cameras would allow for more footage to be
  shot and edited post-event
 Worked really well for the purposes they set out to
  accomplish
Slide Share

 Two Slide shows were uploaded
 First slideshow uploaded provide lots of information
  on different ways to participate
 Second Slide Share was pictures of of the
  event, uploaded later than anticipated
Twitter

 Tweeters used personal accounts
 Excellent way to get the information to the public
 Retweeted pictures of K’s that others tweeted out
 Suggest to create an actual account for the even very
early on and direct all the traffic their
Facebook

 Created a Page instead of an event
 Worked well as the central hub of the Flash Mob
 Should have made an event page to allow people to
join and send invitations to friends
Google+

 32 people “Hung Out”
 Posted pictures and teasers
 Used personal accounts
 Not enough people outside of the event hung out to
make it worth while to use again
foursqaure

 Could work in an area with lots of people on 4Square
 6 check ins
 foursquare can be tied in with Twitter and Facebook,
would work best if it was integrated into these
  platforms
 Creating check in spots well ahead of time would
allowfoursquare users to see and try to take mayor
ship of the spots before the event
CMOST

 Using multiple digital channels was an excellent idea
  in theory
 Instead of having lots of people to use lots of
channels it would have been better to have some of
the less used channels (foursquare, doodle.ly, Google
Hangout) extinguished and put that man power on
  the larger channels
 Twitter was the most engaged platform with the
  most engagement with other channels
Mistakes and Missed Opportunities

 Planning could have started well ahead of time to
help create a larger follower base on the different
  platforms
 It should have been more spontaneous in one central
  location like market square
 If we had waited until the Fronts were in town we
would be able to have some players come out that
people from the community could meet
 If we had a way to define a clear winner for the “K”
contest we would probably have more post event
  participation
Content

 To many platforms caused a jumble that meant no
one knew where to go for information
 More focus could have been put on major Content
areas like Facebook and Twitter instead of Doodle.ly
  or Foursquare
Successes

 Locations were amazing Market Square always has
  lots of people around
 The YouTube videos had 173 views at time of last
class and the views are still going
 Lots of people were able to create creative pieces of
  artwork
Recommendations

 Keep it centralized to one location
 Invite many more people
 Don’t just use social media, sometimes email and
telephones are the best way to reach people
 Keep the channel choice low and have more people
  working on a single channel
 Get students to follow every channel that is used so
they could spread the word to their friends
Tactics

 Starting the event earlier on a day that people spend
a lot of time in market square on, possibly
Wednesday when the market is in market square
Influencers

 Professors from the school with high influence in the
neighborhood such as Jim Elyot would have been
great to create an impact on the older crowd
 Fronts players
 Local Businesses
 High schools
 The Kingston School of Art
If I worked for the Fronts

 I would definitely do a flash mob if I worked for their
  Mar Com team
 It is a great way to get a message out in a fun way
 The Mar Com team would probably have better
connections than we did and would be able to get
some more influential people to attend
 Would also consider paying for programs that would
  allow for better ROI
Channel Choice

 Using Facebook and Twitter and YouTube would
probably have been the best choice and then
branching off to use other platforms that use those
  three such as Instagram
 Pinterest, Foursquare and Doodle.ly were all
unnecessary to because they aren't as widely used
and other platforms support what they do
 Slide Share and Google + were good in theory but
  kind of fell short
