Flamingos are birds that range from 3-3.4 feet in length and weigh between 4-7 pounds. They are typically pink, white, or blue/green in color due to their diet. Flamingos live in groups called colonies and are found in parts of South America, the Andes, Chile, and India. They eat brine shrimp, algae, plants, and crustaceans. Flamingos are warm-blooded, lay one egg per pregnancy that hatches after 30 days, and fly at night over long distances to migrate to warmer climates in winter.
