1) The document is a script that follows the story of Jess, a teenage girl, over the course of a night as she deals with relationship issues and goes out with her friend.
2) Interspersed throughout the script are scenes of a band performing the song that provides the soundtrack to Jess's night.
3) By the end of the night, Jess appears drunk and upset as she reflects on her situation before ultimately returning home.
1. Script – Tonight Alive/Lonely Girl.
FADE IN: - Song starts.
INT- Stage performance.
In the centre of town or outside a garage there is the drummer from
the band playing his drums. Then a cut to the first guitarist
playing his guitar, and then the lead signer starts to sing to the
song.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
Jess (an English teenager who is a quite person who likes rock music
and going out with her friends, she is wearing a white t-shirt and
jeans)is sitting on her bed when you get a first look at her, its
used in the left thirds because you can clearly see that she is
starting into nothing.
She then starts to write in a notebook while still laying on her bed
with all her CDs around her. Then she stops to write and starts to
stare at the notebook and lets out a sigh to.
INT. Stage performance.
The guitarist’s guitar is shown to be playing and then shows the
guitarist rocking his head to the song, and then the drummer is
shown playing his drums again.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
Jess now sits back down onto her bed while listening to music
through headphones; she then removes the headphones and places them
on the side. Then she turns up her volume on her laptop connected to
a speaker on full volume and rocks her head to the beat with a smile
of relief on her face.
INT- Stage performance.
Another shot to show the drummer playing his bottom drum. The lead
signer starts singing with her microphone.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
Jess’s phone begins to ring and it is a phone call from her
boyfriend called Callum. She notices her phone ringing and goes to
2. pick up the phone when she punches the bed in anger when she answers
the phone.
INT- Stage performance.
The lead signer singing again and she starts to rock her head as
well, while using hand gestures to show emotion in the song.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
Jess is holding an old photo of her boyfriend and friends and is
just staring at it, she then shakes her head in disappointment about
her situation and places the photo frame back on the side the other
way round so she cannot see it.
EXT- Graveyard.
First look of the lead singer on her own in a second location, she
is singing rocking her head then starts to sing to the song.
EXT- Outside Jess’s house. – Dusk/Evening.
Jess comes out of her front door and heads towards the end of her
driveway to go and meet her friend.
INT- Stage performance.
First shot of the bass guitar being played by the bassist.
EXT- Graveyard.
2nd location of the lead signer on her own again, she is still
sitting on the bench and singing to the song.
EXT- Field. – Dusk/Evening.
Jess walks up to her friend Zoe (A rebellious teenager who loves
rock music and doing anything that she is not supposed to. She is a
bad influence on Jess) they greet each other put their coats on and
head off to walk down the alley way towards town. Shows Jess smiling
and then looking down and thinking about her past argument earlier
on with her boyfriends.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
3. In the past. Jess is now having an argument with her boyfriend on
the hone and it shows her shouting down the phone. She then hangs up
the phone and throws it onto the bed and turns around to pick up a
dew books and CD and throws them across her room and onto the floor.
INT- Stage performance.
The lead signer singing again with her microphone, the drummer is in
the background playing his drums.
EXT- Alleyway to town. – Duck/evening.
Shows Jess and Zoe walking down the alleyway and then they spot a
man walking and Zoe points to him and Jess then goes along and
barges him out of the way and they both run off.
EXT- Graveyard.
Lead signer in the 2nd location gain singing to the song again.
INT- Stage performance.
The drummer playing his drums again and then a shot of the guitar
rocking his head, while playing his guitar.
EXT- Alleyway to town. – Dusk/Evening.
Zoe leads Jess up to Josh (Josh who is a friend of Zoe’s, is a few
years older than both Zoe and Jess and he also has a reputation for
selling drugs in the town) all three of them then walk off.
INT- Toilets of club.
Jess is washing her face with cold water from the tap to try and
sober up. Then she sits down on the toilet with her head in her
hands looking up to the ceiling and looking upset.
EXT- Street to town. – Dusk/Evening.
Past, represents her thoughts of the night. Jess is standing there
looking at Zoe and Josh walk off, she then turns around and walks
the opposite way to them.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.

4. EXT- Field 2.
The lead signer is in a 3rd location singing again while walking
through the field, not looking at the camera this time and using
hand gestures again.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
Shows Callum trying to ring Jess’s phone, which she has left at home
on her bed so no one can get a hold of her.
EXT- Field.
Jess is just standing all alone in the middle of the field, she is
just staring at the ground.
EXT- Field 2.
The lead signer is in a 3rd location singing again, just walking
through the field.
INT- Club toilets.
Jess is still sitting on the toilet seat, she puts her hands through
her head and looks up to the ceiling.
INT- Stage performance.
The guitarist playing his guitar again, just focusing on his hands
at the top of the guitar- fits in time with the music.
EXT- Field 2.
3rd location of the lead singer singing again she is still waling
through the field.
INT- Stage performance.
Shows the drummer playing his drums and then focuses on the symbol
as he plays it. Then the guitarist is playing his guitar again and
rocking to the music.
INT- Club toilets.
5. Jess is still sitting there with her hand on the wall and then puts
her hand through her head again, she is looking at the floor.
INT- Stage performance.
Lead singer singing with her microphone again.
INT- Club toilets.
From the shot before still has her hand on the wall and putting her
hand through her hair still staring at the floor.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
To represent her thoughts the photo frame falls off her drawers and
just lies there on the floor.
INT- Stage performance.
EXT- Graveyard.
2nd location of the lead singer singing and she engages with the
camera to interact with the audience.
INT- Stage performance.
Lead signer is singing again with her microphone, drummer is seen in
the background.
INT- Club toilets.
Jess is still sitting in the toilets with her hand still in her head
and then puts her hand on her shoulders and looks to the ceiling.
INT- Stage performance.
The lead signer is singing again and the camera pans down to show
her playing the guitar. Drummer still in the background.
EXT- Graveyard.
The lead signer is singing again, still sitting on the bench.
INT- Stage performance.
6. The guitarist and drummer are shown in this shot playing their
instruments. (shot reverse shot)
EXT- Outside Jess’s house.
Jess is staring at her house; it is point of view shot so the
audience can connect with Jess. She is debating whether to go inside
or not.
INT- Stage performance.
The guitarist and drummer are shown in this shot playing their
instruments. (shot reverse shot)
EXT- Outside Jess’s house.
Again Jess is staring at her house, reflecting on the night’s events
and wondering whether or not to go in-side.
INT- Inside Jess’s bedroom.
The photo frame is on the top of Jess’s drawers and the light turns
on (which can be seen in the bottom corner of the photo frame), and
her mother does this (mother isn’t in shot).
Ext- Outside Jess’s house.
This shot represents Jess’s mind at this point in time, it is a
shaky shot that shows she is drunk and angry about her current
situation.
Ext- Outside Jess’s house.
Jess walks up to her front door and proceeds to walk in the front
door and the light inside comes on.
EXT- Graveyard.
The lead signer looks around and nods her to indicate the ending of
the song and gets up from the bench and walks off out of the shot. –
Song ends.
FADE OUT.
