The proposed music video treatment aims to tell the story of an isolated old man who has lost his wife through a narrative storyline and performance by the artist. Shots of the man alone in his dark, empty home would contrast with warmly lit scenes to show his changing emotions. Pictures of the man and his wife would establish her absence. The artist's performance would introduce a parallel storyline. Edited close-ups of the men's hands and faces would draw parallels between their experiences with loss. Scenes of the man in his garden suggest finding freedom and peace while thinking of his late wife. The video aims to interpret the song through both characters' stories of lost love.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. SYML ‘Where my love’
Cold bones, Yeah that’s my love
She hides away, like a ghost
Does she know that we bleed the
same?
Don’t wanna cry but I break that way
Cold sheets. Oh, where’s my love?
I am searching high, I’m searching
low in the night
Does she know that we bleed the
same?
Don’t wanna cry but I break that way
Did she run away?
Did she run away? I don’t know
If she ran away
If she ran away, come back home
Just come home
I got a fear, oh, in my blood
She was carried up into the clouds,
high above
If you bled, I’ll bleed the same
If you’re scared, I’m on my way
Did you run away?
Did you run away? I don’t need to know
If you ran away
If you ran away, come back home
Just come home
3. Treatment
The Idea for my music video came from a thought I had about creating a narrative of
something that is is apparent in my life. I decided to think of an idea and then choose a
song to fit, as I thought this way I wouldn't just be creating an idea that would fit around
the song. I was trying to think of and idea that I thought would work well in a music video,
to create a strong narrative but would also fit the whole purpose of a music video and
promote my chosen song well. I decided I wanted to create a sad and emotive music video
as in my opinion these create more of an impact on the audience. I chose to pick a subject
very close to my heart and film my grandad, and build a narrative around how lonely and
isolated he is as a person. I chose a song I wasn't too familiar with but thought fit well with
my idea. I then decide I wanted to add a performance side to the video to give it more depth
but also give the video two characters and narratives to compare and focus on as an
audience. The whole idea of my music video is to focus on the life of one old man and how
loosing someone he cared deeply for, has affected him. The idea for the video is that having
both a main actor and the artists means the audience can interpret the song into one or
both of the stories. In the narrative side, I want to show my grandad’s life in a way you
wouldn't see most lonely or old peoples lives. My plan is to film him doing everyday things,
but though the use of the micro elements create an empty yet homely feel to the video.
Lighting is going to be a huge part in creating the two quite opposite effects. Warm lamp
lighting will create a very welcoming, homely feel however to create a lonely feel, the
lighting is going to have to be quite dark. However using both will reflect his changing
feelings, how one minute he can be fine and the next he can feel very lonely.
4. Camera is also going to be a key part in creating a very isolated feel to the shots. By using
lots of long shots will make the space around the actor feel a lot bigger and make him
appear small. The video will begin with a sequence of long establishing panning shots of
very dark, empty rooms. To show how isolated and empty a house can feel. The next
sequence will then contrast to that and will have the main actor present in every scene,
however there will be lamps and lights on to make the house feel a lot more welcoming.
The next few shots will be of various picture frames showing the actor with who we, as an
audience assume are his loved ones. The music between the verses will be a close up shot
of someone playing the guitar, which is where the performance element of the video is
being introduced but not too abruptly. Only having a close up shot of the guitar will build
the anticipation of who the artist could be. The next verse will start with a medium shot of
the artist singing and playing the guitar which will give the audience a better view of the
artists himself. That shot will then be contrasted to the following shot of the old mans face
in a medium shot, which will then follow up with an over the shoulder silhouette shot of him
looking out the window. The next shot is going to be a long shot of the old man sat on the
bed, again looking out the window. Which will then be followed by various close up and
extreme close up shots of a jewellery box and the jewellery, which as an audience you
assume is his wife, who was also seen in the picture frames earlier on. The next few shots
of the verse are of the artists as I wanted to give the artists nearly as much screen time as
the main narrative actor. The next shots will be various shots of the artists walking in the
woods from both behind and front, but mainly long shots to contrast from the close up
shots we just had. The next verse then goes back to the narrative story and we have an
over the shoulder shot of the actor looking in the mirror, so we can see his refection.
5. Then we have a close up shot of his hands holding onto the edge of the sink, which then
changes to a close up shot of the artists hands playing the guitar. By having those shots
edited next to each other it gives a clear contrast between the age and also the two
stories. The next verse will then go back to the artist and we will have various shots of him
walking and also performing. I didn't want his part in the video to just be performing, I
wanted him to have his own screen time to build his own identity and create his own story.
On the end line of that verse ‘Just come home’ it will go back to the old man. As it is a very
powerful line in the song I wanted to have a very meaningful shot, and include what is
home to him. To many people home is a place where you feel comfortable and safe, and to
my grandad home is his armchair in his living room. So for this line I want a shot of him
sitting down in his chair and his expression to change to care and worry free when he sits
down. The next sequence in the song is an instrumental segment. For this I want to do a
parallel edit of various close ups of both people, to emphasise the contrast between the
two. Again the next verse will open with lots of close up shots however of the old mans
eyes, as this is where emotions are clearly seen. On the line that reads ‘She was carried up
into the clouds’ there will be a shot of a women, who the audience will assume is his wife,
as she has been seen many times in picture frames. The next line ‘high above’ will be a
shot of the artist singing, with a lot of emotion, with his head tipping back as though he is
looking up to the sky. The next verse will be a shot of the back of the old man leaving the
house and then switch to a mid shot of the artist singing ‘i’m on my way’ which is where the
song can be interpreted in a way that the artists could be the old man when he was
younger. The next series of shots will be of the man in his garden looking a lot happier, as
though he feels a lot more free then when we was stuck inside, which could be significant
when
6. he was looking out the window earlier on in the video; which suggests he felt trapped
inside. The next line is ‘come back home’ and on this line I will have a long shot showing
the man in his garden but looking up to the sky, which could suggest to the audience that
he is thinking about someone in heaven, possibly the women (his wife.) The last line of the
song reads ‘Just come home’ and on his will be a medium close up of the artists looking
down which contrasts to the previous shot of the old man looking up. Him looking down
and singing that line with a lot of emotion suggests that he is singing the song about
someone, possibly a loved one he has lost as well. The song ends on an instrumental
section, during this will be a series of parallel panning shots between the two narratives.
The video will end with the artists putting down his guitar and then the old man turning the
lamp off next to his chair.
