How is your issue one of urgency and importance? 5. What is the overall purpose of the service-learning project? 6. What impacts do you hope the project will have on community being served? 7. What are some possible solutions to the issue at hand? 8. What is the nature of the service to be provided? 9. How will this service impact the community being served? 10. How will you assess the impact of this project? Name: _____________________________________ Humanity and Empathy in the 21st Century Final Exam This is your final exam.  The process of this project, including class participation, the ability to work independently, and meeting deadlines is part of your second quarter grade.  Your grade for each portion of this project will be combined to create your final exam grade.  Failure to meet the deadline of any component of this project will drastically affect your grade.  Your final exam grade counts as the third and final quarter of this course.   The Breakdown Class Rationale: Coursework Inspiration (10 points) In this course we have examined a variety of literature, non-fiction, film, music, and video which have addressed a wide range of current world issues. In a well-developed paragraph, explain why you have chosen this issue. What have we read this year that has inspired the undertaking of this project? Your Class Rationale must be uploaded to www.turnitin.com by Monday, January 11th at 7 A.M.  You should use the following guiding questions to help you focus this portion of the project. 1. What works read this year have inspired this project? 2. Why is this issue important to you? Community Rationale: Investigation Report (40 points) Using viable research and documentation methods, write a persuasive analysis for the leaders of your target community detailing the urgency and importance of addressing the issue you have chosen. Your essay must be two to three pages in length, typed MLA format, reference at least three sources with in-line documentation, and have a properly formatted Works Cited page. Your Community Rationale must be uploaded to www.turnitin.com by Monday, January 18th at 7 A.M. You should use the following guiding questions to help you focus this portion of the project. 3. Why is this issue important to the community you wish to serve? 4. How is your issue one of urgency and importance? Proposal: Action Plan (50 points) Create a detailed action plan outlining your project. Include the services that would be provided, the people needed to execute the plan, the responsibilities of these peoples, the resources required, and an assessment plan with specific indicators of success. Your action plan should be two to four pages in length, be clear and concise, make reference to your investigation report, and provide reasonable plan with realistic goals and tangible indicators of success. Your Action Plan must be uploaded to www.turnitin.com by Monday, January 25th at 7 A.M.  You should use the following guiding questions to help you focus this portion of the project. 5. What is the overall purpose of the service-learning project? 6. What impacts do you hope the project will have on community being served? 7. What are some possible solutions to the issue at hand? 8. What is the nature of the service to be provided? 9. How will this service impact the community being served? 10. How will you assess the impact of this project?
