Film distribution is the third part of the film supply chain and involves releasing and sustaining a film in the marketplace. There are two main methods of distribution - making the audience aware through advertising, and getting the film to the audience. Common ways to make the audience aware include social media advertising, print/TV advertising, local newspapers, and word of mouth. Popular methods to get the film to the audience are through YouTube/specialist websites or in cinemas. Each method has advantages and disadvantages in terms of audience reach and cost.

In Europe alone, there are over 3000 video-on-demand (VOD) services online today. You'd think that among those you should be able to find movies from all corners of the world. But no. VOD has failed. Instead of showing us films from around the globe, we just got more of the same. Online we are shown what we already knew from DVD and TV: our own culture's movies and Hollywood's. Here are some thoughts on why that is and suggestions for how we can unlock truly global VOD.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Film distribution research
1.
2. What is film distribution?
Film distribution is recognised as the 3rd
part of the film supply chain. This is one of
the most important parts of the film
process, as this is where the film comes to
life. Distribution consists of releasing and
sustaining a film in a market place. In the
UK distribution is more focussed on local
market places. The two main methods of
distribution are split up into two sub-
categories ‘Making the audience aware’
and ‘Getting the film to an audience’.
3. Social Media Advertising
This is a way of making your audience
aware of your film. This includes
advertising on social media websites such
as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Therefore making it easier for your
audience to see it depending on their
media preferences. An advantage of this is
the fact that you can target your target
audience directly. However a disadvantage
is that not all of your target audience may
have these social network accounts.
4. Print media and TV advertising
Both of these methods involve creating an
advert either on TV or in magazines,
posters etc… This is useful to target a wide
target audience rather than a smaller one
because it is more likely that a lot of people
will see these kind of advertisements. The
advantages of this method is that a wide
range of people are able to see these
advertisements. However this is not
guaranteed as some of your audience may
not have a TV for example. This method is
also very costly.
5. Local Newspaper and ‘Word of
Mouth’
These two methods are on a much smaller
scale of advertising. This is a good way of
advertising to a small target audience, for
example people who share interests in my
film will be able to share any information.
Making it easier to make the audience
aware. Local newspapers are a good idea
because many people read them and they
are cheaper than magazines. However no
one in my target audience is likely to read a
local newspaper.
6. YouTube/Specialist
websites
This is one of the main methods of getting
my film to the desired target audience. It
means making my film available for my
audience to buy and watch online rather
than go elsewhere. An advantage of this is
that people may find it more convenient
and much less expensive to be able to
view the film in the comfort of their own
home. However a disadvantage is that not
all of my target audience will be able to
access it or they may miss out on the full
experience of a cinema.
