2. What is film distribution?
Film distribution is recognised as the 3rd part of the film supply chain. This is one of the most
important parts of the film process as this is where the film begins to obtain its success.
Distribution consists of releasing and sustaining a film to make the audience aware and then
getting the film to an audience.
3. Social Media Advertising
This is a way of making the audience aware of the film. This includes advertising on social media
websites such as Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram
Therefore making it more accessible to the audience to see it depending on their media
preferences.
An advantage of this is that the film distributors can target the intended audience directly.
An issue might be that not all of the target audience will have social network accounts.
4. Print Media & TV Advertising
Both of these methods involve creating an advert either on TV or in magazines, posters etc.
These methods are useful for targeting the mass market.
Genre specific magazine and TV channels would be the appropriate platform to present
advertisements to the niche audience.
These advertising methods are very costly as there is so much production involved.
5. YouTube & Specialist Websites
This is one of the main methods of getting film trailer and other media content shown to an
audience.
The advantages of advertising on YouTube are that the audience can easily share the content
that they watch with their friends on social media also. As well as acting on the audiences likes
and preferences can help distribute the media productions to the appropriate people.
