Advantage – Relatively quiet. Disadvantage – Difficult to place ductwork

A nonveneered product that is composed of compressed glues and shreds of
wood fiber that are bonded in an oriented pattern.

Plywood – Manufactured by gluing sheets of veneer at intersecting grains and
pressing.
Veneer – A thin layer sheet or facing in this case plywood.
90. Vapor Retarder
Vapor Retarder – Obstructs the passage of water vapor through a building
assembly located on the warm-in-winter side of wall.
91. Waterproofing
Waterproofing – An impervious membrane applied to the outside of a
foundation to keep out moisture in this case liquid applied. Disadvantage –
If the foundation develops a crack so does membrane. Advantage – Simple
to apply and fits in tight openings.
92. Weep Hole
Weep Hole – A gap left in between a head joint to allow moisture to escape
from a masonry wall.
