culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and
symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On

twenties the viewer sees each character s different personality traits, relationship struggles, and
emotional breakdowns. Because One Tree Hill had a total of nine seasons, lasting nine years, the
viewer has an extended amount of time to get attached to the plot and characters. As a nine
season show the characters physical traits are allowed to change because of the accurate
duration of time unlike the also popular show Pretty Little Liars. In Pretty Little Liars

Migraine, while it s usually known as gloriously painful headache, ask a teenager and they will

One day Nick Carraway the speaker of the book The Great Gatsby attended to one of Gatsby s

Its bizarre how one situation from your past can affect your future and every decision you make
for the rest of your life (Millican). Allison Millican, a strong young lady, has been through many
major life changing events growing up. No child would ever think of nor wish upon him/herself
the series of events she has been through. These events affected her state of mind plus the
choices she made for every important situation, for the rest of her life. This childhood trauma
led to depression as well as anxiety, however, it all started the day her parents finalized their
divorce. As a very young child, Allison lived in a strict, conservative home with morals and a
firm belief that once married, always married; divorce is simply giving up and not giving your all.
She lived in a home that went to church every sunday,in addition stayed to themselves about
personal conflicts like any conservative family would ordinarily do. As time went on those morals
started to fade. What was once a happy marriageturned into an emotional, high strung marriage.
Allison, being so young, didn t remember much of what happened, nevertheless she knew that
matters were changing. Ironically, the conservative family with morals divided, leading to the start
of a brand new life Allison could never be prepared for.
After the divorce, Allison s living situation went back and forth like a game of tug of war. One
week she stayed with her father then the next she was with her mother. As one can imagine, it was
very hard on her having to transition every week, not to mention the new habit her mother picked
up. As a result, he had totally forgotten about her own daughter, also all of her attention turned

Between human trafficking, genocide, poverty and the like, activism can seem like a lost cause.
However, Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder serves as a testament of activism s value
and demonstrates the link between poverty, illness, and governance. The story of Paul Farmer is
both inspirational and informative. Kidder does an excellent job of showing his incalculable
compassion through the description of his life. For example, chapter seven is a powerful
testament of Farmer s ambition and passion because it is written from the viewpoint of Ophelia
Dahl. Dahl s letter is especially powerful because we see how she was both drawn to Farmer and
repelled from him because of the depth of his compassion. Dahl loved him because he is a
