Crime Statistics Comparison
Comparison of Crime Statistics
Crime statistics endeavour to provide statistical measures of crime in societies. They provide a
point of analysis and comparison, allow countries to form long term patterns and trends and can
help to develop and reform criminal justice policies as well as being more meaningful than raw
numbers. Using the countries of Bahrain and the United States as a comparison point for the
following issues which surround crime statistics such as biases, agendas and general influences
like education and religion; this essay will be focused around analysing the statistical factors and
wider influences which can allow a country to have low or high crime rates.

Wider Influences:
Bahrain is a country which operates on all levels in relation to the teachings of the Qur an. This
makes up the fabric of life for the Bahraini people, the influence of the Islamic religion can be
seen in the economic, political and social pathways of life within the culture of the country. In
Bahrain, religion is the most important structure. The Islamic religion opposes wrongdoing in
all its forms and that any wrongdoing can lead to the downfall of society. The teachings of the
Prophet attempt to get rid of all forms of crime before it happens by influencing the individuals
who follow the religion. Acts against the law therefore is not only a crime against society in the
eyes of Bahraini people it is also a violation of the principles of God. In Bahrain there are even
moral police officers who regulate the dress and public behaviour of citizens (Helal, 1991). As
the Qur an provides the basis for society, it also provides the base for which laws are made. All
laws however have major influence from the Western cultures, apart from marriage, divorce and
succession which all fall under the Shari ah. (Souryal, 1988)Therefore religion is a major influence

The Importance Of Motivation In Education
Education is the key to eliminate gender discrimination, to decrease poverty, to foster social peace
in our communities and to create a sustainable development. But, how can we encourage our
children to study effectively? In other words, how can we prepare them for success? Motivation is
the secret behind student success. Motivation helps to explain why some children get impressive
educationresults despite poverty, while others get ordinary results despite highly sophisticated
teaching methods. Which factors affecting students motivation? And how it works in the lives of
girls and boys? Despite the fact that girls outperform their malepeers, and hyper control of girls
acts as a kind of motivator which makes them study harder than boys, boys are not defective.
Motivation is the main factor which is shaped by parents and teachers. In many Middle Eastern
public schools; elements have cooperated together to create an educational system which is not
appropriate for anyone but particularly not for boys. Boys feel like their teachers do not care
about them, and they had experienced a worse relationship with their teachers. Also, they reported
physical punishment which had been occurred at school. Moreover, boys have their own society
which aims to enforce their masculinity away from classrooms and academic goals that is why
they lose their motivation to study hard. This is the topic that Amanda Ripley (2017) focuses on in
her article Boys are not defective . In her article Ripley (2017) discusses that male teachers practices
have a negative effect on boys motivation. They do not care about boys well performance, tend to
punish them physically and shout at them. In addition, the notions of masculinity among boys
make them feel like schools will not help them to reach manhood. My firm conviction is those
worse relationships between boys and teachers, insulting and corporal punishmentand the internal
desire of students to achieve their manhood outside classrooms; this would affect badly on their
motivation, and would decrease their academic performance.
I am totally agree with the author since teachers are one of the major factors which stands behind
boys performance, and teachers mistreatment towards boys

Inmates with Special Needs Inmate with special needs, mental illnesses, substance abuse issues,
juvenile offenders, and older inmates are all considered special offenders upon entering the
correctional facility and classification process. These inmates are classified as special offenders,
which refers to inmates with behavioral issues that will need close supervision, specific treatment
plans, and sometimes treatment outside the correctional facility (Seiter, 2011). The number one
complaint filed by prisoners is inmate neglect and although many cases amount to nothing, a higher
percentage of cases won are by those of special ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prison Reform Trust (PRT), a service that provides inmates a place to file complaints, reports
that inmate neglect since 2010 has increased almost 5% every year (Allison, 2012). The criminal
justice system and correctional system take responsibility for inmates upon sentencing and
incarceration, so treatment for inmates with special needs must be taken seriously and treatment
must be offered no matter the cost.
Substance Abusing Inmates Inmates who suffer from substance abuse need just as much
attention as inmates who suffer from a mental illness. There are different counseling and
treatment options for inmates who are suffering from withdrawals and sobriety, but one
organization is making a positive impact on prisoners during incarceration. The Residential
Drug and Alcohol Program (RDAP) focuses on long term inmates in federal prisons. RDAP
provides services that typically cost $50,000 in society for free to inmates who are truly seeking
to make a change while incarcerated (Federal Bureau of Prisons, 2013). RDAP mission is to
rehabilitate prisoners by having them interact as they would in society in hope that upon release
the preparation and lifestyle will be familiar and not cause a relapse in an inmate s sobriety
(Federal Bureau of Prisons, 2013). Prisoners who are selected for this program are screen for any
violent tendency, and inmates who have completed the program once, and inmates who are in there

Global Assessment of Biodiversity and the Anthropogenic...
The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent
priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction,
trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic
threats that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more
frequently, conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat
destruction, in comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional
biodiversity assessments often ignore huntingpressure though they are aware of its presence, or
classify into ways (e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other
researchers (Galetti Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure
by one biologist can be classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the
hunting classifications of a biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low
hunting pressure? The use of different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here
we ask how to measure the intensity of hunting pressure. Knowing this answer will help us better
understand the effects of hunting on biodiversity loss and set conservation priorities more
efficiently. Flight initiation distance (FID) is the distance between prey and the predator/hunter
when animal begins to flee. If

Compare And Contrast American Football Vs Rugby
Third Draft American Football vs Rugby.
Patriots, Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, ever heard of any of these teams? Chances are you have and
probably the Super Bowl as well. All of these teams and the Super Bowl itself are part of the NFL
or National Football League, which if you haven t heard of before is a well run organization that
specializes in running a national league for American Football inside the United States. My thesis В·
that American Football is the better sport financially as its organized significantly better an ugly
and therefore its more successful thanks to financial funding and backup. American Football is
undoubtedly the most watched sport in the US racking up over 16.5 million views on average in
the 2016 NFL season. This was a substantial drop from 2015s 17.9 million views but still enough to
rank it the most watched show in the United States and the 2016 2017 Super Bowl between the ...

Edward the Confessor as a Failure Essay
Edward the Confessor as a Failure During Edward s the Confessor s reign from 1042 1066,
Edward faced many problems. According to Stafford, some of the problems had no obvious
solutions. Some historians argue that Edward was a failure as he was unable to deal with the
power of the Godwine, and was even less successful with the power of Harold and thirdly, he was
unable to solve the problem of the succession issue according to Barlow as he shows that there
were no contemporary sources that show Edward dealing with the succession, in the latter part of
his reign. Evidence shown from historians that Edward had an inconsistent policy towards the
succession issue. The Norman sources and English sources... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This shows Edward as a successful as he defended his kingdom from Swein invading. There is
also evidence from Barlow that Edward always took command whenever possible of an
invasion. Edward provides training of his navy and he gave it leadership when danger
threatened. According to Barlow, Edward was able to deal with the foreign policy going worse.
Edward was able to stop William from forming an alliance with Flanders. The reason why he
does this was because then that would mean they would share maritime power, meaning that
they could help Swein, Magnus or Harold Hardrada from invading England. Edward forms an
alliance with William, meaning that William will not be able to form an alliance with Flanders.
Therefore this shows that Edward was a success as he was defending his kingdom from any
external enemies. This view of Edward is agreed by other historians such as the Vita, ASC and
Ailred. Also according to Snorri Sturluson he says that Edward was nicknamed Edward the Good,
which describes him well…By the English he is regarded as a saint. According to Barlow,
Edward had no ambition to widen his empire his policy towards Scotland and Wales, like his
Scandinavian policy, was purely defensive. Schama supports this view as he mentions that Edward
was concerned with defending western borders of Mercia and Wessex against expansion of the
Welsh princes. Due to all these historians

The Mode Of Heroism In Bartleby The Scrivener By Herman...
Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville is tragic and is written in the mode of realism. The
short story starts off with the narrator, who is a lawyer at the Wall Street in New York, describing
the other workers or scriveners working at the lawyer s office at the time. The three characters are
Turkey, Nippers, and Gingernut. Turkey works well in the morning and Nippers during the night.
Gingernut is just an errand boy. Then the lawyer starts describing Bartlebyas A motionless young
man one morning stood upon my office threshold, the door being open, for it was summer. I can
see that figure now pallidly neat, pitiably respectable, incurably forlorn! Bartleby came to the
office to answer an ad spread out by the lawyer who needed more hands at the time and decides to
hire him. This start of the story ties Bartleby to be described as either as a traditional hero, an anti
hero, or a Byronic hero.
An argument that can be made about Bartleby is that he is a traditional hero. By saying a hero,
the audience will most likely think of a stereotypical hero who abides by the law and follows the
rules. Bartleby is seen as impotent and lazy man throughout the story, but he can also be labeled
as a traditional hero. Traditional hero is someone who knows the truth, where others do not, and
acts on it. If we look at the story at a literal point of the story, Bartleby is doing nothing in the story.
But in my opinion, he is doing something. As a working man on Wall Street, he is expected

The National Salvation Front
The National Salvation Front (FSN), led by Ion Iliescu, comprised the new provisional government.
Iliescu gained popularity by proclaiming his role in the death of CeauЕџescu and championing a
new one party democracy (Wolchik and Cury 318). CeauЕџescu s legacy and the lack of political
competition in Romania led the citizen s of Romania to believe in the empty promises of reform
made by the FSN and Iliescu. The National Salvation Front promised to be a transitional
government and to offer free and fair elections (Wolchik and Cury 317). In May 1990, they
offered free, but unfair elections in which Iliescu won the presidency with over 85% of the vote
and the FSN won a majority of parliament with 66% of the vote (Vachudova 41). Iliescu quickly
proved to be anti CeauЕџescu, but not anti communist. Immediately after his election in 1990,
Iliescu began to concentrate his power by appointing communists to government positions, ousting
non communists, and taking control of the media (Vachudova 45). Anti Iliescu demonstrations in
Bucharest began in response and Iliescu sent miners to violently oppress the demonstrations (Linz
and Stepan 361). Iliescu continued to demonstrate that he would not allow a strong opposition. A
small number of opposition groups managed to exist in Romania; however, they were small and
fragmented. Iliescu was reelected in 1992, despite his repeated manipulation of illiberal democratic
processes such as rent seeking and partial economic reform. Under

Current Learning Of Antiquated Middle East Dress
more minimal, all the more effectively took care of andThe Ancient Middle East
Current learning of antiquated Middle east dress gets from the adequate proof to be found in the
abundance of divider and artistic creations, in model, and in earthenware production. Couple of
genuine pieces of clothing has survived. The main material to have been saved is cloth, which has
been found in graves dating to Neolithic times. Flax society dates from early times, and, truth be
told, the Middle East trusted that the divine beings were dressed in material before they came to
earth. Fleece was all the more infrequently utilized, and sericulture had not yet stretched out as far
west as Egypt. The coloring procedures were moderate to come to Egypt, so most pieces of clothing
were white. Shading was given by gems in which semiprecious stones were broadly consolidated.
Skins of different creatures were used. These were here and there just crude conceals, which have
survived just seldom, yet the Egyptians got to be talented at curing the skins to end up cowhide by
the tanning technique. Cowhide was broadly utilized as a part of dress for footwear, belts, and
straps.
Garments were typically made of materials extending from coarse to fine surface. Men as a rule
wore a short skirt called a kilt. Ladies wore a straight fitting dress held up by straps. The well off
men wore creased kilts, and the more established men wore a more drawn out kilt. While doing
diligent work, men wore a loin fabric, and

Giovanni Bellini Research Paper
Of all the artists from the European Renaissance to have come from Venice, perhaps the most
important one of them all was Giovanni Bellini. Many of his works such as The Feast of the
Gods, Agony in the Garden, and Holy Allegory have become known around the world thanks to
various museums and their exhibits. Interestingly, there is the subject of his life story overall.
Regarding this, Philip Hendy wrote in one article for Encyclopedia Britannica, Giovanni Bellini,
(born c. 1430, Venice [Italy] died 1516, Venice), Italian painter who, in his work, reflects the
increasing interest of the Venetian artistic milieu in the stylistic innovations and concerns of the
Renaissance(Hendy). Hendy also wrote how little is known about Bellini s family,... Show more

how, The main word here is light . Four hundred years prior to Impressionism, the Venetian painters
were keenly interested in the relationship between light and color . . . Additionally, the Venetian
painters had a distinct method of brushwork. It s rather smooth, and makes for a velvety surface
texture (Esaak). In other words, Venetian Renaissance art tends to have contrasting relationships
between lighting and color in order to create a certain mood or emphasize a certain detail, and that
the colors faded into each other, thus creating smooth transitions with almost outlines around
shapes. In Giovanni Bellini s Crucifixion, the sunlight is particularly shined on Jesus, which is
juxtaposed by the green grass below him. Plus, the colors smoothly transition to each other, thus
leaving any shape outlines almost invisible. Furthermore, the natural world was a prevalent theme
in not just Venetian Renaissance art, but the Renaissance as a whole. Jessie Szalay once wrote for
Livescience, Both classical and Renaissance art focused on human beauty and nature (Szalay). In
Bellini s Crucifixion, the aforementioned grass has a bright, green color to it, and has a highly

The New England Colonist Living In The New World In The
The New England colonist living in the new world in the early 1600 s went from a society that had
a few slaves, to a society that accepted slavery as a way of life by the early 1700 s. Not one single
event or year can be definitely set as to when slavery became a permanent staple of the colonies.
The institution of slaverywas introduced over time. It took a little over a century of perpetuating
laws, codes, and failed rebellions before African slavery became a corner stone of colonial life.
For almost 400 years slaves were taken from Africa and displaced throughout the world. The first

the coming centuries. Shortly after colonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With more and more slaves arriving each year so did the reliance on African slaves. In a short
period of time the colonists began to rely heavily on slaves and based their societies on the work of
slavery. To protect their interest and way of life, each state began to enact laws that would further
cement the institution of slavery.
In 1662, the state of Virginia enacted a law of hereditary slavery meaning that a child born to an
enslaved mother inherits her slave status. Massachusetts reversed a ruling dating back to 1652
that allowed blacks to train in arms. New York, Connecticut, and New Hampshire passed similar
laws restricting the bearing of arms. In 1663 Maryland legalized slavery. In 1664, New York and
New Jersey legalize slavery. In 1664, Maryland is the first colony to take legal action against
marriages between white women and black men. In 1664, The State of Maryland mandated
lifelong servitude for all black slaves. New York, New Jersey, the Carolinas, and Virginia all
pass similar laws. In 1666, Maryland passed a fugitive slave law. In 1667, Virginia declared that
Christian baptism will not alter a person s status as a slave. In 1668, New Jersey passed a
fugitive slave law. In 1670, The State of Virginia prohibited free blacks and Indians from keeping
Christian (i.e. white) servants. In 1674, New York declared that blacks who convert to Christianity
after their enslavement will not be freed.

Groundwater and the Hydrologic Cycle Essay
Groundwater and the Hydrologic Cycle
Introduction
Water is the lifeblood of every living creature on earth. Approximately 70 percent of the earth s
surface is covered with water. Thought the wonders of nature, water can take on many different
forms, form the water we drink, to the ice we use to chill a glass of lemonade, to the water vapor
used to steam clean equipment equipment. It is easy to understand the significance water plays in
our lives, but it may be much more difficult ot understand the water that exists below the earth s
surface, called groundwater.
From the time the earth was formed, water have been endlessly circulating. This circulation is
known as the hydrologic cycle. Groundwater is part of this continuous ... Show more content on

The unsaturated zones are soil and geologic materials located between the land surface and the
saturated zone. The voids are filled with a combination of air and water. Water in this zone is
often refereed to as soil moisture. Below the unsaturated zone is the water table. The water table
is the level in the geologic formation below which all voids or cracks are saturated. The water
table also can be thought of as the upper surface of the groundwater and top of the saturated zone
for an unconfined aquifer. The entire region below the water table is called the saturated zone. In
the saturated zones, all voids are filled with water and no air is present. The water in the saturated
zone is call groundwater. The distance water has to travel to reach groundwater can range from a
few feet to hundreds of feet. Water movement toward groundwater may take hours or years,
depending on the depth to the aquifer and the characteristics of the unsaturated zone.
Once in the groundwater, water may move into surface waters such as lakes or streams.
Groundwater moves slowly within the groundwater aquifer, often remaining in storage for long

Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway
A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that
culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and
symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On
the other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyleand advances
of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to
achieve a better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these
changes can be seen with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African
Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In
Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and
adaptation plays a key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and
experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of
culture comes our identity through music. The death of the blues serves as an example in how
culture is put up to the challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of
folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people from the rural South to the
industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity
in the South through Melody s music. This

The Epidemic Of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
Introduction
Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a severe and often deadly illness named after a river in the Democratic
Republic of Congo (formerly Zaïre) where it was first identified in 1976 with a high case
fatality rate lying between 50 and 90%. Outbreaks between 1972 and 2007 are shown in Table 1.
The disease п¬Ѓrst came into the limelight in 1976 in ZaГЇre and Sudan in 1976 [17]. Its origin is
still unknown and it is widely believed that Ebola virus is transmitted to humans from discrete life
cycles in animals or insects, but regardless of the original source. Person to person transmission is
the means by which Ebola outbreaks and epidemics progress. Bioterrorism threats as well as
emergence of new pandemic and drug resistant variants of known infections require development of
the tools that would adequately predict occurrence of epidemics, assess efficiency of
countermeasures, and optimize the efforts directed towards provision of biological safety.
Mathematical modeling has emerged as an important tool for gaining understanding of the
dynamics of the spread of infectious diseases. The need of accurate models describing the epidemic
process are vital, because infectious diseases outbreaks disturb the host population and has
п¬Ѓnancial and health consequences. There is also the need to use sound statistical analysis
methods to test the п¬Ѓt of such models to observed data to account for uncertainties by means of
probabilistic models.

Kant s Philosophy Of The State And Analysis Of Historical...
Compromised largely in Kant s ideas, Hegel s systemic philosophy of the State and analysis of
historical summit of the body politic provides the foundation of Marxism and alike. Hegel declares
the concept of state as superior to the individual. In his book Philosophy of History, he establishes
Reason as the rational manifestation of world history which subsists in both natural and spiritual
realms; But the Spirit, and the course of its development, is the substance of history (20). Reason
as the core of Spirit is the self contained existence of itself as that which is free and autonomous.
Thus the Idea is that world history is Spirit attempting to find its own nature. Hence, the union and

Hegel presents the State as the epitome of individual freedom in a set of institutions, just like
Christ is represented as the epitome of God in Christian history. The more a State is free, insofar it
is rational and the highest form of Spirit, the closer it is to the State itself. Marx critiques Hegel s
conception of the State in his book Capital as standing on its head (302). He refutes the claim that
the state sustains civil society; rather, Marx stresses, it is the most natural interdependent bond of
the family and civil society which are the necessary essence of the state. His assertion that ...the
ideal is nothing else than the material world reflected by the human mind, and translated into forms
of thought (301) reestablishes Hegel s idealist approach. The state is incapable of maintaining itself
without social consciousness produced by production, which Marx takes to be the legal, political,
and intellectual structure of society. Hence it is the economic life of free mankind in civil society
which manifests the state. Democracy is the only true harmony of the particular and the general.
Marx explains that In democracy, the constitution, the law, the state itself, insofar as it is a political
constitution, is only the self determination of the people, and a particular content of the people (21).
Marx explains that until now the political constitution has been the religious

RSV Is the Leading VIral Agent Respiratory Tract Disease...
Epidemiology: RSV plays a major role in respiratory infection among the childhood population,
especially infants and younger children. It is the leading viral agent respiratory tract disease
worldwide, causing bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and young children. There are about
100,000 cases and 4,500 deaths yearly of RSV infections in the United States (1). Typically, all
children are infected with RSV by age 2 to 3; however, the infections can reemerge up to 5 to 6
per year. RSV was first extracted from chimpanzees that were showing upper respiratory tract
disease as an agent in 1956 (1). The chimpanzees had an upper respiratory tract illness in addition to
coryza, runny nose, and malaise. The humans that interacted with these... Show more content on

How RSV works: . The F (fusion) glycoprotein is responsible for membrane fusion such as viral
penetration and syncytium formation. The G (glycoprotein) protein is responsible for viral
attachment and a major antigenic determinant of RSV since it induces protective antibodies (3).
The SH (small hydrophobic) protein, matrix protein (M), and the M2 protein are envelope
associated proteins that are not involved in viral attachment or syncytium formation (3). Other
proteins such as the nucleoprotein (N), phosphoprotein (P), and the large nucleoprotein (L) are
in the nucleocapsid. NS 1 and NS 2 are non structure protein that is only found in the infected
cells but not present in virions (3). RSV activation: RSV comes into the airway epithelium from
the apical side only and aims to destroy the ciliated epithelia cells (4). Then RSV buds and
releases the virus from the apical surface (4). RSV is caused by TLR3 activation. It initiates
infections by binding to a cellular receptor and then the viral envelope fuses with the plasma
membrane. The virus attaches the cell through the main protein, the G protein and fuses with the
plasma membrane of the host cell through the F protein. After penetration, the nucleocapsid of
the virus is released into the cytoplasm where replication occurs (3). The viral RNA is like a
template for mRNA (3). The mRNA s job is to translate the viral proteins and complementary RNA
serves as a template for virion RNA

How Does External Factors Affect A Business Model
External Factors External factors of demand influence the design of successful business models.
Market forces such as customer needs and customer demand are the foundation of successful
business models (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). If a business does not address the needs and
demands of a customer there is a limited need for the business to exist. Additionally, businesses
must identify the price customers are willing to pay for a product and which customer segments
represent the greatest growth potential (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). Key trends, such as
technological innovation, have played an increasingly important role in successful business models.
The rise of information systems and new advances in technologyhave been an important external
factor, which business models must address (Hedman Kalling, 2003). Business model that are
unable to adapt to changes in technology must be changed through innovation or the underlying
business will not be successful. Successful business models must address and adapt to a variety of
external factors. Customer preferences, new technologies, regulatory trends, and competitors are all
external factors which must be addressed by successful business models (Osterwalder Pigneur,
2010). External factors of demand play a significant role in successful business models. For
example, with Business models are designed to fit certain business environments and markets
(Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010).
Business Model Design and Innovation Business model innovations have changed entire industries.
Business model innovation occurs when original business model designs are challenged and
unsatisfied, new, or hidden customer needs are met through an entirely new value proposition
(Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). Firms must have strategic agility if they wish to be able to transform
their business models and pursue innovation (Chesbrough, 2010). When Apple introduced the iPod
and the iTunes store in 2003, it revolutionized portable entertainment, created a new market, and
redefined Apple as a company (Johnson, Christensen, Kagermann, 2008). Apple s iPod was not the
first technology of its kind. In fact, a company called Diamond Multimedia produced a similar

The Violation Of Human Rights
After reviewing the Human Rights Watch website, www.hrw.org, I decided to write my paper on
the violation of the human rights of people with disabilities. I have a passion for working with
people that have disabilities and I think so much more should be done for them. The United States
have made great strides in being respectful for their human rightsand it is time to see the rest of the
world step up and take responsibility. There is also much more needed to be done in the United
States but we have come so far. I decided to use the human rights violation of people with
disabilities because I want to work with them in the future and it is important to know what
hardships they face around the world. I need to help be a voice for them. The first article I read
about human rights with people with disabilities was titled We Need to Stop Treating People
with Disabilities as Less Than Human, by Shantha Rau Barriga. In this article, Barriga traveled
the world to speak with disabled people. She saw a five year old girl dressed in rags and chained
to a tree with chains because her family thought she was possessed. Unfortunately, this happens far
too often because people with disabilities are seen as unhuman. Often times around the world,
children with disabilities are put in institutions and sometimes takes straight from the mothers after
birth the relieve them of the burden of a child with disabilities. However, having some form of
disabilityis not all that rare: one in

Kenya Vs China
Each culture proposes different characteristics pertaining to the country resided in. China and
Kenya are two countries that are on total opposite ends of each other. China is ranked one of the
most populated countries in the world, unlike Kenya. Therefore, the population amongst the two
countries greatly affects the issues regarding personal space and rules of social behavior. An
American manager would need to take immense caution when approaching a person from either of
these countries.
Personal space is considered how close in proximity another individual is from the other. In china,
residents do not abide by a personal bubble. The first thing a tourist would notice in this country is
the immense population. Because of the large population, living space is close . More times than

Literary Analysis Of Migraine By Twenty One Pilots
Migraine
Migraine, while it s usually known as gloriously painful headache, ask a teenager and they will
presumably say it s a hit song from the Ohio based synthpop, rap rock, indie rock, and yes even
reggae, band Twenty One Pilots. Underneath the techno beat and flying piano notes, are lyrics with
a profound meaning. The excellent lyricist, Tyler Joseph, in a spit fire fashion, confronts many
prevalent feelings and struggles. Within the song, Tyler Joseph defends himself from his brain, that
keeps sending him depressing, and pessimistic thoughts. This song uses many allegories
represented by literal images. Migraine by Twenty One Pilots is a unique song that puts a voice to
the battles of the mind; it has a riveting theme, complex figurative imagery, and an intriguing syntax.
Furthermore, the theme of this song is Tyler s migraine, although it seems like a simple concept
his migraine is due to his overworking head. In the song, Tyler sings (Line 12) let it be said what
this headache represents it s me defending in suspense ...(Line 12) that s best represented by my
depressing thoughts (line 16), and something you won t forget its all about my forehead (line 32
) it s a door that holds back contents (line 33). He also sings in the introduction of the song; Am I
the only one I know(Line 1) waging my wars behind my face and above my throat. (Line 2 )If you
know anything about anatomy you will know he is referring to his brain. The overarching theme of
this catchy song is the battles of the brain, which of course manifest itself as a migraine.
Schizophrenic pop is what some people may label this duo; it makes sense for this song. The
figurative imagery bounces around everywhere. There is a significant amount geographical
imagery within this song, there is also a gigantic amount of literal imagery as well. All in all, there
is a lot of imagery of all sorts. Here are a few examples; (line 28) Pardon my yelling and telling you
green gardens!(line 28) are not what s growing in my psyche! (line 29), and behind my eyelids are
islands of violence. (line 35) My mind s shipwrecked it s the only island my mind could find. (line

my brother was in high school at the time and played for the boys soccer team, and had my dad

my nerves lessened. Finally when the actual season rolled around, I was put on full varsity. All

actually very lucky at getting put on varsity because at this point in my life I played purely out
of natural talent. I was never one to put in extra work outside of practice and be disciplined in
the way I lived my life. I never really strived to be the best I could be. Making varsity made me
somewhat of a threat for the older girls. Some were happy for me, others did not like the thought
of a freshman on varsity. These girls were hard coore they were bound and determined to make it
to state that year. They were not going to accept anything less than amazing. This put an
incredible amount of pressure on us younger girls. I remember going to every practice nervous

The Importance Of Physical Beauty In The Renaissance Era
Society s perception of love changes constantly. As a result, poems of different time periods have
different perceptions of love and beauty. Ben Jonson s A Vision of Beauty and Samuel Daniel s
But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again reflect the importance of physical beauty in love
during the Renaissance Era. In the Victorian Period, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt s I See You Juliet and
Robert Browning s A Face continue to reflect society s fascination with female beauty in both a
positive and negative way. In the Modern Period, a shift occurs in both marriageand lovewith a

In his poem, But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again , he focuses on warning women to
find love soon because beauty will not last with age. He compares a woman s beauty to a flower:
the fairest flower that ever saw the light / men do not weigh the stalk for what it was / when they
find her flower, her glory, pass (Daniel 6, 13 14). Through this metaphor, he shows how men
view beauty in love. No one looks at a dead flower and thinks about what it used to be, rather, he
or she looks towards other flowers that bloom with life and colour. This sonnet begins as an
admiration for his subject s beauty, but it ends by telling the subject that when her physical beauty
deteriorates, no one will love her. This poem reflects society s fixation on superficial beauty
because it reminds women that they will never find love without external beauty, as a result of the
superficiality of men in society. Both poems of the Renaissance Period assert the idea of perfection
and the importance of physical beauty in love and relationships. Victorian era poets continue to
propound the importance of superficial beauty. During this era, there was a continual belief in lust
and sexual desires, evident in the rampant disloyalty that husbands showed their wives (Hughes).
Wilfrid Scawen Blunt depicts this continual fascination of lust and beauty in his poem, I See You

It is not exactly forbidden to say this, that or the other, but it is not done to say it, just as in mid
Victorian times it was not done to mention trousers in the presence of a lady. Anyone who
challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness. A
genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press
or in the highbrow periodicals. At this moment what is demanded by the prevailing orthodoxy is
an uncritical admiration of Soviet Russia. Every one knows this, nearly everyone acts on it. Any
serious criticism of the Soviet rГ©gime, any disclosure of facts which the Soviet government
would prefer to keep hidden, is next door to unprintable. And this nation wide conspiracy to flatter

to me that he grew more correct as the fraternal hilarity increased. (pg 50). This quote is very
important because it gives the reader an understanding on Gatsby s personality, on the way that he
acts around other people.
Gatsby isolated himself when the love of his life left him and married someone else. He wanted to
get her back so he isolated himself from everything that did not had to do with his love Daisy, he
made money, bought a house, and throw expensive parties to impress Daisy, so he can get her
back and have some company in his life.
Gatsby used to think he was in love with Daisy and that everything he did was for her, but in
reality all the stuff he was doing was

If We Must Die
The pen is mightier than the sword, Claude McKay s poem is proof that this saying has some
authenticity to it. This saying was first documented in 1839 by a man named Edward Bulwer
Lytton during one of his most historical plays Cardinal Richelieu. The saying means that you
could accomplish more by communicating and using your words. McKay lived in the U.S.
around the time that racism was at its highest point, and the Ku Klux Klan was out committing
hate crimes. I ll explain McKay s poems purpose, then I ll discuss its meaning and effect, and
finally I ll talk about whether or not this poem was a rebellious act. To begin with, its important to
understand the setting in which this poem was created. The time period was 1919, some time after
slaves were freed and allowed to live among the whites in the United States. However not everyone
agreed with this, so people started mistreating the colored people... Show more content on

Everyday when you read the colored newspaper you always seen something horrible. Everyone
knew that the situation was bad but everyone was scared as well. McKay begins with If we must
die let it not be like hogs, this is important and was very strong to them because it had a lot of
meaning. It showed that they were being treated and slaughtered like animals and seen as less
than a person. Another powerful thing he said was If we must die oh, let us nobly die. This is
important because it would give people dignity and show that their life has meaning just like the
rest, and that they are people just like the white men. This put many to tears and enraged others
just because of how true it was. Colored people weren t the only ones who felt something for the
poem, in fact McKay got it published by a white man named Max Eastman. His poem was so good
that he actually had upset another author, Frank Harris, because he wasn t the one who got to publish

Allison Millic A Short Story
Its bizarre how one situation from your past can affect your future and every decision you make
for the rest of your life (Millican). Allison Millican, a strong young lady, has been through many
major life changing events growing up. No child would ever think of nor wish upon him/herself
the series of events she has been through. These events affected her state of mind plus the
choices she made for every important situation, for the rest of her life. This childhood trauma
led to depression as well as anxiety, however, it all started the day her parents finalized their
divorce. As a very young child, Allison lived in a strict, conservative home with morals and a
firm belief that once married, always married; divorce is simply giving up and not giving your all.
She lived in a home that went to church every sunday,in addition stayed to themselves about
personal conflicts like any conservative family would ordinarily do. As time went on those morals
started to fade. What was once a happy marriageturned into an emotional, high strung marriage.
Allison, being so young, didn t remember much of what happened, nevertheless she knew that
matters were changing. Ironically, the conservative family with morals divided, leading to the start
of a brand new life Allison could never be prepared for.
After the divorce, Allison s living situation went back and forth like a game of tug of war. One
week she stayed with her father then the next she was with her mother. As one can imagine, it was
very hard on her having to transition every week, not to mention the new habit her mother picked
up. As a result, he had totally forgotten about her own daughter, also all of her attention turned
towards something else. Allison felt as if she couldn t go to her father because of his bussiness
with a new girlfriend along with his work schedule. Her mother s new habit involved drinking and
drinking all the time to cope with the hard, overwhelming separation. Sometimes what starts as a
bad habit can become a very big problem (Foundation). When her mother would come home after
work she would drink alcohol then sleep every opportunity she could. Allison was slowly losing her
mother. Then, Allison made a promise to herself. Without

Woodrow Wilson s Vision For A League Of Nations
Woodrow Wilson sought out the future of America, as he understood that the liberty that
underlined democracy was starting to look vulnerable in the current world s state. It was at the
address at Independence Hall, that Wilson defined the position of liberty and its place in the
world when he said; I earnestly believe in the democracy not only of America but of every
awakened people that wishes and intends to govern and control its own affairs. His perspective of
the ownership of liberty would shaped how he would help foreign nations.
Through the proposal of the 14 point speech on new methods to dispute in worldwide affairs
peacefully, and the immediate rejection by the senate, his legacy was brought in the creation of

The United States served as the middleman in the war, America didn t join for the gain of land,
but as outlined in his famous fourteen point speech, article XIV, for ; A general association of
nations must be formed under specific covenants for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees
of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states alike. This speech was
to outline the the principles for world peace that was to be used for peace negotiations. With no
United Nations, or variants of. Wilson set out for the creation of what he would call, The League of
Nations.
The league of Nations presented a great challenge, a general association of nations from both sides
of the atlantic who believed there needed to be a better organization of communication that
promotes international support. Previously The United States congress would serve as an
international structure to hold summits in which European powers would come to discuss what
they thought would be urgent. The impact of the United States in global politics is underlined as;
proof of the failure of traditional European diplomacy, based on balances of power, armed alliances

Summary Of Tracy Kidder s Mountains Beyond Mountains
Mitchell Etchason
I 204
Stepanka Korytova, PhD
1 Aril 2015
Mountains Beyond Mountains: Reflection The topic of human rights can be quite depressing.
Between human trafficking, genocide, poverty and the like, activism can seem like a lost cause.
However, Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder serves as a testament of activism s value
and demonstrates the link between poverty, illness, and governance. The story of Paul Farmer is
both inspirational and informative. Kidder does an excellent job of showing his incalculable
compassion through the description of his life. For example, chapter seven is a powerful
testament of Farmer s ambition and passion because it is written from the viewpoint of Ophelia
Dahl. Dahl s letter is especially powerful because we see how she was both drawn to Farmer and
repelled from him because of the depth of his compassion. Dahl loved him because he is a
remarkably compassionate man but knew this love was so powerful he would not devote
enough time in his life to her. In turn, she also respected his work enough to let him go so that he
may focus on helping the people of Haiti and the world. This chapter is so successful because it
comes from the viewpoint of someone who got to know the real Paul Farmer naturally. Unlike
Kidder, who interviewed Farmer to write about his life, Dahl ... Show more content on

Poverty does not simply mean people cannot afford excess, it means they suffer in countless other
areas of their lives, such as their health. Mountains Beyond Mountains has convinced me there are
undeniable ties between poverty and illness. Being poor does not only mean being unable to see a
doctor, it means that the destitute are forced to live lifestyles that directly contribute to and cause
the diseases and ailments they suffer. When people are living for under a dollar a day, there is no
time to be

Computer Addiction
Computer addiction
A disorder in which the individual turns to the Internet or plays computer games in an attempt to
change moods, overcome anxiety, deal with depression, reduce isolation or loneliness, or distract
themselves from overwhelming problems. The elderly, as well as children and adolescents, are
particularly vulnerable because they may not realize the extent of their dependency. In many
instances, individuals with computer addiction may seek help for another condition, such as
depression, phobias or other addictions. Computer addiction is defined as the immoderate
/compulsive use of computers so much so that it interferes with daily activities. It is a disorder
whereby the individual devotes oneself to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A 2008 study concluded that the pathological gambler has clear tendencies towards alcoholism,
nicotine addiction, or drug addiction (Beteille, 2008). Many other activities when left unchecked
may lead to compulsive behavior and ethical conflicts. These activities include excessive cell phone
texting and social networking.
Disadvantages of Computer Addiction
A person addicted to the Computer will spend most of his time alone, locked in a room, with
only his computer for company. This kind of isolation can lead to a lack of social life, and when
he does venture outside, he might find his social skills have suffered. Possibly his only regular
interaction is with online people, and he might now struggle to hold conversations and feel
comfortable in social or public environments. A Computer addiction can create health problems.
Some health issues suffered by Computer addicts are bad eyesight, which is caused by spending
too much time squinting at the screen; poor posture and constant computer use can lead to bad
back and carpal tunnel syndrome. Because a Computer addiction lowers the chance of exercise,
and those with an addiction might no longer take the time to prepare healthy meals, obesity is also
a risk. Some Computer addicts risk losing their jobs or failing classes, because they spend so much
time online and are often late or absent. An Internet addict might also find his personal relationships
suffer under the weight of so much time spent

2. Micro perspectives on technological competition.
2.1 What determines the technological competitiveness in markets?
Competition in a technology market represents that two or more technology companies, firms
compete there, in the same business area. When a company decides to enter a new market and to
continue own business there, then one of the most important things is that, regard to the
competition. The main characteristics for determining the competition are:
What are the weak and strong sides of the competition?
What are the best ways for gaining the dominance in the competition?
What is necessary for competing with other firms?
Competitiveness does not just depend on the cost of factors of production, or on a specific
technological advantage. Rather, it depends on continuous innovation, high level skills and
learning, an efficient communications and transport infrastructure, and a supportive enabling
environment. Each of these aspects is discussed below in greater detail.
Each firm competitor is different. So all of these firms have different plans separately. When we
talk about the competition and the main distinguish determinants of this competition, it is very
important to describe the whole competition. Always we can do it by talking around perfect
competition . This also helps us to describe the market structure. It s very clear that, if perfect
competition exists in a market, then the firms are price takers. When each firm in this market
produces a

  • 2. Crime Statistics Comparison Comparison of Crime Statistics Crime statistics endeavour to provide statistical measures of crime in societies. They provide a point of analysis and comparison, allow countries to form long term patterns and trends and can help to develop and reform criminal justice policies as well as being more meaningful than raw numbers. Using the countries of Bahrain and the United States as a comparison point for the following issues which surround crime statistics such as biases, agendas and general influences like education and religion; this essay will be focused around analysing the statistical factors and wider influences which can allow a country to have low or high crime rates. Crime Definitions Definitions of what exactly constitutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wider Influences: Bahrain is a country which operates on all levels in relation to the teachings of the Qur an. This makes up the fabric of life for the Bahraini people, the influence of the Islamic religion can be seen in the economic, political and social pathways of life within the culture of the country. In Bahrain, religion is the most important structure. The Islamic religion opposes wrongdoing in all its forms and that any wrongdoing can lead to the downfall of society. The teachings of the Prophet attempt to get rid of all forms of crime before it happens by influencing the individuals who follow the religion. Acts against the law therefore is not only a crime against society in the eyes of Bahraini people it is also a violation of the principles of God. In Bahrain there are even moral police officers who regulate the dress and public behaviour of citizens (Helal, 1991). As the Qur an provides the basis for society, it also provides the base for which laws are made. All laws however have major influence from the Western cultures, apart from marriage, divorce and succession which all fall under the Shari ah. (Souryal, 1988)Therefore religion is a major influence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Motivation In Education Education is the key to eliminate gender discrimination, to decrease poverty, to foster social peace in our communities and to create a sustainable development. But, how can we encourage our children to study effectively? In other words, how can we prepare them for success? Motivation is the secret behind student success. Motivation helps to explain why some children get impressive educationresults despite poverty, while others get ordinary results despite highly sophisticated teaching methods. Which factors affecting students motivation? And how it works in the lives of girls and boys? Despite the fact that girls outperform their malepeers, and hyper control of girls acts as a kind of motivator which makes them study harder than boys, boys are not defective. Motivation is the main factor which is shaped by parents and teachers. In many Middle Eastern public schools; elements have cooperated together to create an educational system which is not appropriate for anyone but particularly not for boys. Boys feel like their teachers do not care about them, and they had experienced a worse relationship with their teachers. Also, they reported physical punishment which had been occurred at school. Moreover, boys have their own society which aims to enforce their masculinity away from classrooms and academic goals that is why they lose their motivation to study hard. This is the topic that Amanda Ripley (2017) focuses on in her article Boys are not defective . In her article Ripley (2017) discusses that male teachers practices have a negative effect on boys motivation. They do not care about boys well performance, tend to punish them physically and shout at them. In addition, the notions of masculinity among boys make them feel like schools will not help them to reach manhood. My firm conviction is those worse relationships between boys and teachers, insulting and corporal punishmentand the internal desire of students to achieve their manhood outside classrooms; this would affect badly on their motivation, and would decrease their academic performance. I am totally agree with the author since teachers are one of the major factors which stands behind boys performance, and teachers mistreatment towards boys ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inmates with special needs Inmates with Special Needs Sarah Berry CJA/234 November 25, 2013 Richard Gilbert Inmates with Special Needs Inmate with special needs, mental illnesses, substance abuse issues, juvenile offenders, and older inmates are all considered special offenders upon entering the correctional facility and classification process. These inmates are classified as special offenders, which refers to inmates with behavioral issues that will need close supervision, specific treatment plans, and sometimes treatment outside the correctional facility (Seiter, 2011). The Prison Reform Trust (PRT), a service that provides inmates a place to file complaints, reports that inmate neglect since 2010 has increased almost 5% every year (Allison, 2012). The criminal justice system and correctional system take responsibility for inmates upon sentencing and incarceration, so treatment for inmates with special needs must be taken seriously and treatment must be offered no matter the cost. Substance Abusing Inmates Inmates who suffer from substance abuse need just as much attention as inmates who suffer from a mental illness. There are different counseling and treatment options for inmates who are suffering from withdrawals and sobriety, but one organization is making a positive impact on prisoners during incarceration. The Residential Drug and Alcohol Program (RDAP) focuses on long term inmates in federal prisons. RDAP provides services that typically cost $50,000 in society for free to inmates who are truly seeking to make a change while incarcerated (Federal Bureau of Prisons, 2013). RDAP mission is to rehabilitate prisoners by having them interact as they would in society in hope that upon release the preparation and lifestyle will be familiar and not cause a relapse in an inmate s sobriety (Federal Bureau of Prisons, 2013). Prisoners who are selected for this program are screen for any violent tendency, and inmates who have completed the program once, and inmates who are in there for the wrong reason. ... • 5. Global Assessment of Biodiversity and the Anthropogenic... The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction, trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic threats that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more frequently, conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat destruction, in comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional biodiversity assessments often ignore huntingpressure though they are aware of its presence, or classify into ways (e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other researchers (Galetti Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure by one biologist can be classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the hunting classifications of a biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low hunting pressure? The use of different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here we ask how to measure the intensity of hunting pressure. Knowing this answer will help us better understand the effects of hunting on biodiversity loss and set conservation priorities more efficiently. My thesis В· that American Football is the better sport financially as its organized significantly better an ugly and therefore its more successful thanks to financial funding and backup. According to Stafford, some of the problems had no obvious solutions. Some historians argue that Edward was a failure as he was unable to deal with the power of the Godwine, and was even less successful with the power of Harold and thirdly, he was unable to solve the problem of the succession issue according to Barlow as he shows that there were no contemporary sources that show Edward dealing with the succession, in the latter part of his reign. This shows Edward as a successful as he defended his kingdom from Swein invading. There is also evidence from Barlow that Edward always took command whenever possible of an invasion. Edward provides training of his navy and he gave it leadership when danger threatened. According to Barlow, Edward was able to deal with the foreign policy going worse. Edward was able to stop William from forming an alliance with Flanders. The reason why he does this was because then that would mean they would share maritime power, meaning that they could help Swein, Magnus or Harold Hardrada from invading England. Edward forms an alliance with William, meaning that William will not be able to form an alliance with Flanders. Therefore this shows that Edward was a success as he was defending his kingdom from any external enemies. This view of Edward is agreed by other historians such as the Vita, ASC and Ailred. Also according to Snorri Sturluson he says that Edward was nicknamed Edward the Good, which describes him well…By the English he is regarded as a saint. According to Barlow, Edward had no ambition to widen his empire his policy towards Scotland and Wales, like his Scandinavian policy, was purely defensive. Schama supports this view as he mentions that Edward was concerned with defending western borders of Mercia and Wessex against expansion of the Welsh princes. Due to all these historians ... • 8. The Mode Of Heroism In Bartleby The Scrivener By Herman... Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville is tragic and is written in the mode of realism. The short story starts off with the narrator, who is a lawyer at the Wall Street in New York, describing the other workers or scriveners working at the lawyer s office at the time. The three characters are Turkey, Nippers, and Gingernut. Turkey works well in the morning and Nippers during the night. Gingernut is just an errand boy. Then the lawyer starts describing Bartlebyas A motionless young man one morning stood upon my office threshold, the door being open, for it was summer. I can see that figure now pallidly neat, pitiably respectable, incurably forlorn! Bartleby came to the office to answer an ad spread out by the lawyer who needed more hands at the time and decides to hire him. This start of the story ties Bartleby to be described as either as a traditional hero, an anti hero, or a Byronic hero. An argument that can be made about Bartleby is that he is a traditional hero. By saying a hero, the audience will most likely think of a stereotypical hero who abides by the law and follows the rules. Bartleby is seen as impotent and lazy man throughout the story, but he can also be labeled as a traditional hero. Traditional hero is someone who knows the truth, where others do not, and acts on it. If we look at the story at a literal point of the story, Bartleby is doing nothing in the story. But in my opinion, he is doing something. As a working man on Wall Street, he is expected ... Iliescu gained popularity by proclaiming his role in the death of CeauЕџescu and championing a new one party democracy (Wolchik and Cury 318). CeauЕџescu s legacy and the lack of political competition in Romania led the citizen s of Romania to believe in the empty promises of reform made by the FSN and Iliescu. The National Salvation Front promised to be a transitional government and to offer free and fair elections (Wolchik and Cury 317). In May 1990, they offered free, but unfair elections in which Iliescu won the presidency with over 85% of the vote and the FSN won a majority of parliament with 66% of the vote (Vachudova 41). Iliescu quickly proved to be anti CeauЕџescu, but not anti communist. Immediately after his election in 1990, Iliescu began to concentrate his power by appointing communists to government positions, ousting non communists, and taking control of the media (Vachudova 45). Anti Iliescu demonstrations in Bucharest began in response and Iliescu sent miners to violently oppress the demonstrations (Linz and Stepan 361). Iliescu continued to demonstrate that he would not allow a strong opposition. A small number of opposition groups managed to exist in Romania; however, they were small and fragmented. Iliescu was reelected in 1992, despite his repeated manipulation of illiberal democratic processes such as rent seeking and partial economic reform. Under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Current Learning Of Antiquated Middle East Dress more minimal, all the more effectively took care of andThe Ancient Middle East Current learning of antiquated Middle east dress gets from the adequate proof to be found in the abundance of divider and artistic creations, in model, and in earthenware production. Couple of genuine pieces of clothing has survived. The main material to have been saved is cloth, which has been found in graves dating to Neolithic times. Flax society dates from early times, and, truth be told, the Middle East trusted that the divine beings were dressed in material before they came to earth. Fleece was all the more infrequently utilized, and sericulture had not yet stretched out as far west as Egypt. The coloring procedures were moderate to come to Egypt, so most pieces of clothing were white. Shading was given by gems in which semiprecious stones were broadly consolidated. Skins of different creatures were used. These were here and there just crude conceals, which have survived just seldom, yet the Egyptians got to be talented at curing the skins to end up cowhide by the tanning technique. Cowhide was broadly utilized as a part of dress for footwear, belts, and straps. Garments were typically made of materials extending from coarse to fine surface. Men as a rule wore a short skirt called a kilt. Ladies wore a straight fitting dress held up by straps. The well off men wore creased kilts, and the more established men wore a more drawn out kilt. • 11. Giovanni Bellini Research Paper Of all the artists from the European Renaissance to have come from Venice, perhaps the most important one of them all was Giovanni Bellini. Many of his works such as The Feast of the Gods, Agony in the Garden, and Holy Allegory have become known around the world thanks to various museums and their exhibits. Interestingly, there is the subject of his life story overall. Regarding this, Philip Hendy wrote in one article for Encyclopedia Britannica, Giovanni Bellini, (born c. 1430, Venice [Italy] died 1516, Venice), Italian painter who, in his work, reflects the increasing interest of the Venetian artistic milieu in the stylistic innovations and concerns of the Renaissance(Hendy). Four hundred years prior to Impressionism, the Venetian painters were keenly interested in the relationship between light and color . . . In other words, Venetian Renaissance art tends to have contrasting relationships between lighting and color in order to create a certain mood or emphasize a certain detail, and that the colors faded into each other, thus creating smooth transitions with almost outlines around shapes. In Giovanni Bellini s Crucifixion, the sunlight is particularly shined on Jesus, which is juxtaposed by the green grass below him. Plus, the colors smoothly transition to each other, thus leaving any shape outlines almost invisible. Furthermore, the natural world was a prevalent theme in not just Venetian Renaissance art, but the Renaissance as a whole. • 18. Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyleand advances of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music. The death of the blues serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through Melody s music. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Epidemic Of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever Introduction Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a severe and often deadly illness named after a river in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly ZaГЇre) where it was п¬Ѓrst identiп¬Ѓed in 1976 with a high case fatality rate lying between 50 and 90%. Outbreaks between 1972 and 2007 are shown in Table 1. The disease п¬Ѓrst came into the limelight in 1976 in ZaГЇre and Sudan in 1976 [17]. Its origin is still unknown and it is widely believed that Ebola virus is transmitted to humans from discrete life cycles in animals or insects, but regardless of the original source. Person to person transmission is the means by which Ebola outbreaks and epidemics progress. Bioterrorism threats as well as emergence of new pandemic and drug resistant variants of known infections require development of the tools that would adequately predict occurrence of epidemics, assess efficiency of countermeasures, and optimize the efforts directed towards provision of biological safety. Mathematical modeling has emerged as an important tool for gaining understanding of the dynamics of the spread of infectious diseases. The need of accurate models describing the epidemic process are vital, because infectious diseases outbreaks disturb the host population and has п¬Ѓnancial and health consequences. There is also the need to use sound statistical analysis methods to test the п¬Ѓt of such models to observed data to account for uncertainties by means of probabilistic models. Compromised largely in Kant s ideas, Hegel s systemic philosophy of the State and analysis of historical summit of the body politic provides the foundation of Marxism and alike. Hegel declares the concept of state as superior to the individual. In his book Philosophy of History, he establishes Reason as the rational manifestation of world history which subsists in both natural and spiritual realms; But the Spirit, and the course of its development, is the substance of history (20). Marx critiques Hegel s conception of the State in his book Capital as standing on its head (302). He refutes the claim that the state sustains civil society; rather, Marx stresses, it is the most natural interdependent bond of the family and civil society which are the necessary essence of the state. His assertion that ...the ideal is nothing else than the material world reflected by the human mind, and translated into forms of thought (301) reestablishes Hegel s idealist approach. The state is incapable of maintaining itself without social consciousness produced by production, which Marx takes to be the legal, political, and intellectual structure of society. Hence it is the economic life of free mankind in civil society which manifests the state. Democracy is the only true harmony of the particular and the general. Epidemiology: RSV plays a major role in respiratory infection among the childhood population, especially infants and younger children. It is the leading viral agent respiratory tract disease worldwide, causing bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and young children. There are about 100,000 cases and 4,500 deaths yearly of RSV infections in the United States (1). Typically, all children are infected with RSV by age 2 to 3; however, the infections can reemerge up to 5 to 6 per year. How RSV works: . The F (fusion) glycoprotein is responsible for membrane fusion such as viral penetration and syncytium formation. The G (glycoprotein) protein is responsible for viral attachment and a major antigenic determinant of RSV since it induces protective antibodies (3). The SH (small hydrophobic) protein, matrix protein (M), and the M2 protein are envelope associated proteins that are not involved in viral attachment or syncytium formation (3). Other proteins such as the nucleoprotein (N), phosphoprotein (P), and the large nucleoprotein (L) are in the nucleocapsid. NS 1 and NS 2 are non structure protein that is only found in the infected cells but not present in virions (3). RSV activation: RSV comes into the airway epithelium from the apical side only and aims to destroy the ciliated epithelia cells (4). Then RSV buds and releases the virus from the apical surface (4). RSV is caused by TLR3 activation. It initiates infections by binding to a cellular receptor and then the viral envelope fuses with the plasma membrane. The virus attaches the cell through the main protein, the G protein and fuses with the plasma membrane of the host cell through the F protein. After penetration, the nucleocapsid of the virus is released into the cytoplasm where replication occurs (3). The viral RNA is like a template for mRNA (3). • 27. How Does External Factors Affect A Business Model External Factors External factors of demand influence the design of successful business models. Market forces such as customer needs and customer demand are the foundation of successful business models (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). If a business does not address the needs and demands of a customer there is a limited need for the business to exist. Additionally, businesses must identify the price customers are willing to pay for a product and which customer segments represent the greatest growth potential (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). Key trends, such as technological innovation, have played an increasingly important role in successful business models. The rise of information systems and new advances in technologyhave been an important external factor, which business models must address (Hedman Kalling, 2003). Business model that are unable to adapt to changes in technology must be changed through innovation or the underlying business will not be successful. Successful business models must address and adapt to a variety of external factors. Customer preferences, new technologies, regulatory trends, and competitors are all external factors which must be addressed by successful business models (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). External factors of demand play a significant role in successful business models. For example, with Business models are designed to fit certain business environments and markets (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). Business Model Design and Innovation Business model innovations have changed entire industries. Business model innovation occurs when original business model designs are challenged and unsatisfied, new, or hidden customer needs are met through an entirely new value proposition (Osterwalder Pigneur, 2010). Firms must have strategic agility if they wish to be able to transform their business models and pursue innovation (Chesbrough, 2010). Literary Analysis Of Migraine By Twenty One Pilots Migraine Migraine, while it s usually known as gloriously painful headache, ask a teenager and they will presumably say it s a hit song from the Ohio based synthpop, rap rock, indie rock, and yes even reggae, band Twenty One Pilots. Underneath the techno beat and flying piano notes, are lyrics with a profound meaning. The excellent lyricist, Tyler Joseph, in a spit fire fashion, confronts many prevalent feelings and struggles. Within the song, Tyler Joseph defends himself from his brain, that keeps sending him depressing, and pessimistic thoughts. This song uses many allegories represented by literal images. Migraine by Twenty One Pilots is a unique song that puts a voice to the battles of the mind; it has a riveting theme, complex figurative imagery, and an intriguing syntax. Furthermore, the theme of this song is Tyler s migraine, although it seems like a simple concept his migraine is due to his overworking head. In the song, Tyler sings (Line 12) let it be said what this headache represents it s me defending in suspense ...(Line 12) that s best represented by my depressing thoughts (line 16), and something you won t forget its all about my forehead (line 32 ) it s a door that holds back contents (line 33). The overarching theme of this catchy song is the battles of the brain, which of course manifest itself as a migraine. Schizophrenic pop is what some people may label this duo; it makes sense for this song. The figurative imagery bounces around everywhere. There is a significant amount geographical imagery within this song, there is also a gigantic amount of literal imagery as well. All in all, there is a lot of imagery of all sorts. In his poem, But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again , he focuses on warning women to find love soon because beauty will not last with age. He compares a woman s beauty to a flower: the fairest flower that ever saw the light / men do not weigh the stalk for what it was / when they find her flower, her glory, pass (Daniel 6, 13 14). Through this metaphor, he shows how men view beauty in love. No one looks at a dead flower and thinks about what it used to be, rather, he or she looks towards other flowers that bloom with life and colour. This sonnet begins as an admiration for his subject s beauty, but it ends by telling the subject that when her physical beauty deteriorates, no one will love her. This poem reflects society s fixation on superficial beauty because it reminds women that they will never find love without external beauty, as a result of the superficiality of men in society. Both poems of the Renaissance Period assert the idea of perfection and the importance of physical beauty in love and relationships. Victorian era poets continue to propound the importance of superficial beauty. McKay lived in the U.S. around the time that racism was at its highest point, and the Ku Klux Klan was out committing hate crimes. I ll explain McKay s poems purpose, then I ll discuss its meaning and effect, and finally I ll talk about whether or not this poem was a rebellious act. To begin with, its important to understand the setting in which this poem was created. The time period was 1919, some time after slaves were freed and allowed to live among the whites in the United States. However not everyone agreed with this, so people started mistreating the colored people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyday when you read the colored newspaper you always seen something horrible. Everyone knew that the situation was bad but everyone was scared as well. McKay begins with If we must die let it not be like hogs, this is important and was very strong to them because it had a lot of meaning. It showed that they were being treated and slaughtered like animals and seen as less than a person. Another powerful thing he said was If we must die oh, let us nobly die. This is important because it would give people dignity and show that their life has meaning just like the rest, and that they are people just like the white men. This put many to tears and enraged others just because of how true it was. Colored people weren t the only ones who felt something for the poem, in fact McKay got it published by a white man named Max Eastman. His poem was so good that he actually had upset another author, Frank Harris, because he wasn t the one who got to publish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Summary Of Tracy Kidder s Mountains Beyond Mountains Mitchell Etchason I 204 Stepanka Korytova, PhD 1 Aril 2015 Mountains Beyond Mountains: Reflection The topic of human rights can be quite depressing. Between human trafficking, genocide, poverty and the like, activism can seem like a lost cause. However, Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder serves as a testament of activism s value and demonstrates the link between poverty, illness, and governance. The story of Paul Farmer is both inspirational and informative. Kidder does an excellent job of showing his incalculable compassion through the description of his life. For example, chapter seven is a powerful testament of Farmer s ambition and passion because it is written from the viewpoint of Ophelia Dahl. Dahl s letter is especially powerful because we see how she was both drawn to Farmer and repelled from him because of the depth of his compassion. Dahl loved him because he is a remarkably compassionate man but knew this love was so powerful he would not devote enough time in his life to her. In turn, she also respected his work enough to let him go so that he may focus on helping the people of Haiti and the world. This chapter is so successful because it comes from the viewpoint of someone who got to know the real Paul Farmer naturally. Unlike Kidder, who interviewed Farmer to write about his life, Dahl ... Many other activities when left unchecked may lead to compulsive behavior and ethical conflicts. These activities include excessive cell phone texting and social networking. Disadvantages of Computer Addiction A person addicted to the Computer will spend most of his time alone, locked in a room, with only his computer for company. This kind of isolation can lead to a lack of social life, and when he does venture outside, he might find his social skills have suffered. Possibly his only regular interaction is with online people, and he might now struggle to hold conversations and feel comfortable in social or public environments. A Computer addiction can create health problems. Some health issues suffered by Computer addicts are bad eyesight, which is caused by spending too much time squinting at the screen; poor posture and constant computer use can lead to bad back and carpal tunnel syndrome.
