Oral And Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex
Debunking the Misconception that Oral and Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex
Although the origin is unknown, for many years the common misconception that both oral sex and
anal sex are safer alternatives to vaginal sex has been fuelled, especially in regards to pregnancy
and the contraction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This may be partially due to the fact
that most individuals do not consider oral sex and anal sex to be real relative to vaginal sex. The
belief of this claim has influenced individuals sexual behaviours for years, including the ways in
which they prioritize protection, and more specifically, condom use. However, although both
oral and anal sex are less likely to result in pregnancy, there is just as likely a chance of an
individual who has participated in oral or anal sex contracting an STI as an individual who
partook in vaginal sex. In fact, different methods of sexual behaviour do not necessarily mean you
are subject to fewer risks, but to different risks.
With progressing attitudes towards sex and greater acceptance of alternative sexual behaviours, the
amount of people engaging in a wider variety of sexual behaviours has increased tremendously
over the years. With greater participation in sexual behaviour comes a greater risk of pregnancy and
contracting and passing STIs.
Therefore, evaluated in this paper will be the misconception that oral sex and anal sex are safer than
vaginal sex through the utilization of supplementary

What Is Good And Evil In The Prophet
Some people believe that poetry is written only by mournful men and women with hate filled
and evil behaviors. Khalil Gibran shows us that many other uses of poetry can be used to express
ideas on a widely debated topic on good and evil. In William Golding s, Lord of the Flies, and
Khalil Gibran, The Prophet, their extremely different views of good and evilare apparent. Golding
proclaims that evilis in everyone, and that they are born with it from the beginning. On the other
hand, Gibran suggests that everyone is inherently good and born pure, and evil is just being lost or
uninspired.

Gibran shows that everyone is inherently good, but Describes evil as lost and uninspired.
Gibran writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran
challenges and raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a
different form. The author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the
beginning, and that we should be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they
suffer from greater poverty than the homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in
others it is a flat stream that loses itself in angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the
shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when one does what may appear to be wrong or
evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind world and can t see clear, and not to
judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human nature completely opposite,
since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome. Maybe [...] there is a beast
[...]What I mean is... maybe it s only us. (90 91). There is a large difference between Gibran s
view on evil and Golding s view on evil. Golding thinks that evil is in everyone from the very
beginning, and are born with it. However, Gibran thinks that evil comes from good already inside of

Sexual Harassment Policy
A workplace sexual harassment policy is a written policy to provide employees as well as
managers, with a workplace that is free from sexual harassment. It is designed to prevent the
recurrence of sexual harassment and to provide information on what sexual harassment is. The
policy gives the employees and victims the information needed to know how to file a claim. It also
gives the perpetrator information and understanding of just how serious sexual harassmentin the
workplace is and what the consequences of engaging in sexual harassment are (LP5 handout

follow the proper steps to investigate the incident or better yet prevent it from happening in the

to light and while doing so, express harsh disapproval of it. Additionally they should develop
applicable sanctions and notifying employees that they have the right to raise the issue of
harassment and how to educate the employees on the issue of harassment under Title VII.
Furthermore, the managers and supervisors should always be aware of the work environment and
the possible difficulties of sexual harassment in their company. They must also lead by example by
emulating a zero tolerance behavior, making a clear communication to the employees of the

Evolution of Australian Biota Assessment Answers
a) Discuss current research into the evolutionary relationships between extinct species, including
megafauna and extant Australian species.
Megafauna simply means large animals, in which most have become extinct within the last 20 000
to 50 000 years. The extinction of megafauna was, debatably, due to climate change and human
expansion. Although, Africa still retains some megafauna, such as the elephant or the rhinoceros.
Australia has managed to keep many examples of relict species, some from the time of the
megafauna. These include the Crocodile, Wollemi Pine and Stromatolites.
Megafauna are not direct ancestors of the current animals, rather certain animals both evolved from
a common ancestor. An example of this can be seen in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1940s, an Australia scientist invented the Platypussary. This was technology that attempted to
stimulate its natural habitat, hoping to breed a pair. In 1943, the first Platypus was bred in
captivity, which gave scientists much research into lifestyle and breeding habits; gestation and pre
and post natal processes.
Another scientific question was that of its body temperature, but with the development of
radiotelementary scientists ideas about this changed. Radiotelementary can record body
temperature and transmit this information. It has helped scientists in understanding whether the
Platypus can maintain its body temperature when swimming in cold water.
Scientists have contiuned to develop their ideas through the research of amino acids, which allowed
them to observe trends between the sequences of placentals and marsupials. Fossils have also been
an important technological development in understanding the Platypus. As well as cell observation,
allowing Scientists to discover the Platypus salt retaining kidneys.
Another huge discovery about Platypus was able to come about because of new technology, the
question of how the Platypus got its food. Using Electron Microscopy, scientists were able to
observe the Platypus bill. The discovery was made that the bill had extremely sensitive touch
receptors which helped the Platypus navigate underwater with its eyes closed,

Dallas Roofing Case Study
If you already call in a Dallas roofing company to inspect your roof once a year, you re doing the
best thing you can possibly do to stay on top of any roofing problems you might have. But if you
re one of those homeowners and there are a lot of you who keep putting off a roof inspection,
there are some things that even a layman like you can spot that will let you know if your roof is a

There s simply no fixing missing shingles; when they re gone, they re gone. Though you can
replace a few shingles, many missing shingles, especially shingles that have been missing for a

damaged. If this is the case, you ll probably need a new roof. вћ› You notice a lot of shingle
granules on the ground. Toward the end of their lives, shingles tend to lose more granules. If
you find that your gutters are full of granules or you find them on the ground around your home,
especially after a storm, it could mean that your shingles need to be replaced. If all of the shingles
on the roof are the same age, then you won t just be able to replace a few older shingles, you ll
likely have to replace all of them. вћ› Your roof is leaking. One or more leaks into your attic that

Joan Didion Analysis
Joan Didion is wearing oversize black sunglasses in a crowded, dark movie theater where the
film about her life is premiering. Standing beside her nephew Griffin Dunne, who directed the
documentary Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold (Netflix), the 82 year old Californian s all
black ensemble plays well with her ashy white bob: Tucked slightly under her chin, its color is
stripped and striped, but its body and character are as full as ever. It serves as a reminder that no

Innovation has become one of the most important issues in modern culture, these days not only in

so many ways. Even though their size, athleticism, speed, and strength are comparable they are less

The Tangling Of Religion And Politics
The Tangling of Religion and Politics
Religion and politics are quite mingled into society both in the developed countries as well as in
developing countries. Religion and politics are two divisions of a single person. Religion speaks
for a person s moral values and beliefs and politics reaches out to one s secular lifestyle. People
involved in society may have deep rooted religious beliefs that control their behaviors and thought
process and most times impact their political stance and ideology. However, the split between the
two does cause controversial decision making. Using major religions such as Islam, Christianity,
Hinduism, and Buddhism to show how faith relates to politics will be demonstrated.
Islam has been and still is heavily intertwined within the society and government with no real line
separating the two. The Prophet Muhammad started Islam in Mecca, Arabia centuries ago and now
it has grown to become the second largest religion dominating the world today. Muslims, Islamic
believers, believe in one God which translates to Allah in the Arabic language. Their beliefs are
based off of their holy book, Qur an, and the Sunnah. The Sunnah is the verbally transmitted records
of Muhammad and it designates five basic Pillars of Islam, declaration of faith, praying five times a
day, giving money to charity, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca at least one time. (http:/

Cleopatra A Life Essay
Book Report: Cleopatra: A Life.
I have recently read an amazing biography called, Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff. The book,
written by a well known author of biographies, tells the story of Cleopatra, the most powerful
woman in history, who ruled Egypt in 70 BC. She is also the beauty, with whom Caesar and Mark
Anthony fell hopelessly in love. Written in a unique way, trying to abolish stereotypes about
Cleopatra, it is a fascinating novel, about power and love. It shows how these two mix and matched,
while creating history.
Stacy Schiff was born in 1961. She finished the Philips Andover Academy and went on to earn a

publishing company, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cleopatra was a woman. Cleopatra stood at one of the most dangerous intersections in history:
that of women and power. Clever women, Euripides had warned hundreds of years earlier, were
dangerous (112). The number of successful female leaders up until this day is drastically smaller
than the male ones, and even now in 21st century the stereotype of a leader is a male. How did
Cleopatra manage to go around this stereotype and become such a successful ruler? She got the
men of her time obsessed with her. When thinking about power, we should remember Aristotle s
saying, Yet what difference does it make weather the women rule or the rulers are ruled by
women? The result is the same . Cleopatra managed to be a ruler herself, while ruling the most
influential men of her time. No one before, or after Cleopatra was ever able to do this again, but
to this day she is a role model. She proved that not only men can be in charge and that women can
do as much as a man

Regarding Henry Movie Analysis
The movie Regarding Henry is about an affluent, successful lawyer, named Henry Turner, that
lives in New York City with his family. At the beginning of the movie, Henry is selfish and
uncaring for others, however, one night Henry goes to a convenient store to get a pack of
cigarettes. What Henry does not realize, is the the store is being robbed at gunpoint and Henry
gets frustrated that the clerk will not give him a pack of cigarettes. Henry s selfishness is what
gets him shot twice, due to the fact that he is too greedy to not give up his wallet for his well
being. When Henry wakes up from his coma, he does not remember his family or his personality,
which is the start of his transition from Id to Superego. As he continues to recover, his
personality changes dramatically from what it used to be. He becomes caring for other people as
well as for their feelings, and wants to help people instead of hurting them. All this leads me to
believe that Henry Turner s natural state is the Superego and that the Id was learned over time as
he became a lawyer.
Henry Turner reveals the Id side of his mind in many parts of the movie. The most prominent scene
of this is when Henry yells at his daughter for spilling grape juice on his expensive piano. Another

1. About Rene Descartes Meditations:
a) What is the function of the doubt in Descartes Meditations? What are the different stages of
doubt in the Meditations? What does Descartes find to be ultimately indubitable to constitute the
foundation of his new philosophy?
Descartes function of doubt in Meditations is basically to overthrow skepticism on its own
ground, to begin by doubting everything you know and everything you think you know. The
first stage of doubt is the argument of physical misconception, our senses betray us some of the
time but possible that it betrays us all of the time. The second stage is knowing if one is
dreaming or not, some dreams are so real that its hard to tell if they are indeed real and anything
that you see while you are awake can be a dream. The third stage is the evil demon, believing that

No, there is and can be no such thing as evidence of the existence of god. God is not something

not. We imperfect and finite beings visualize the opportunity to be perfect. Descartes wants to

military activity. Television and music were banned, and women could not go outside without a

Concepts And Principles Of Marketing And Consumer...
2.0 Introduction
The aim of this report is to gain an insight into how the concepts and principles of marketing and
consumer psychology are applied to a certain product and aim to analyse and evaluate the
application of marketing and consumer psychology concepts by a product. This report will be
looking at the Cadbury s Dairy Milk chocolate bar, a product that is known around the world; In
1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham... The Cadbury
manufacturing business was born in 1831... In 1905, Cadbury Dairy Milk is launched (Cadbury,
2015). This report will cover a range of consumer behavior theories and how these theories help
Cadbury s attract and retain consumers. It will also include a marketing mix analysis in which at
least two alternative marketing models will be included.
3.0 Main Body
3.1 Consumer Behaviour
In this section I will be discussing relevant consumer behaviour theories and then providing a more
in depth analysis of how Cadbury utilise these.
3.1.1 The Decision Making Process
The decision making process has five steps that simply display buyer behaviour, and logically goes
through, step by step, the process of a consumer buying a product.
The first step in this model is problem recognition; this comes when the consumer becomes aware
of the problem , they then develop needs or wants that they want to be satisfied. Applying this to
Cadbury s it shows that the first stage, problem recognition, would be the consumer s

Earvin Johnson is Magic on the Basketball Court
Earvin Magic Johnson is known to be one of the greatest athletes on and off the court. This is
showcased in his autobiography, My Life, which follows Johnson s life mostly through the 80s
and early 90s. The 1980s is known to many people as NBA s best decade. This era featured a
combination of the best style of basketball, as well as some of the greatest players of all time. Magic
Johnsonheadlined this elite group of players. Because of the immense amount of talent in the
game at this time period, basketball was emerging as a big part of a lot of people s lives.
Basketball was growing in popularity and was becoming one of America s favorite sports to
watch. Magic Johnson only made this sport that more exciting. Also, in the late 80s and early
90s, the HIV virus was a topic of much uncertainty and fear to the world (Layman). Basketball
served to be a great source of entertainment to keep the disease off of people s minds, and to root
for something. When Magic Johnson actually announced that he had the virus, the world learned
more about the disease and admired Johnson for his braveness. This incredible announcement
showed the world that there is hope for this terrible virus. Through this event, Johnson displayed
what a great human being he really is. Magic Johnson is displayed to be this great person, hard
working athlete, and very confident in his autobiography, My Life. Jonathan Rowe, a critic of the

Muscular Male Body
Muscular Male Body
Everyone in the world thinks to be athletic and good looking you need to have a muscular body.
This is not the case as people come in all different shapes and sizes. This is the same thing as the
breast which Natalie Angier talks about in her essay The Story of the Breast. The breast like
muscles come in all different shapes and sizes. Nobody is made the same and women shouldn t
be judged about their breast size, while men shouldn t be judged on how muscular they are. The
other pieces that will be mentioned are The Female Nude: Surfaces of Desire by Richard Leppert
and Images of Gender by John Berger. These pieces will help me make the case that we should
judge humans if they don t have perfect breasts or a muscular body. People should be praised for

Berger says in his essay Nakedness was created in the mind of the beholder. (Berger 209) This is
still true today as males want to see females that have the perfect body. This entails that they
have perfect breasts, and a good body. Men these days are also judged because advertisements
show men that have six packs, huge biceps and calves. These advertisements don t do a good job
of representing what most people actually look like in the world. Males are judged heavily on
how muscular they are which wasn t the case not long go. It has caught on a little later than
women but men are now judged also. People don t realize that you just needs muscles that
function and make you be able to do whatever task you are trying to accomplish. The age we live
in today for males is all about how much you can lift. This should not be the case as pliability is
just as important as muscle mass. This age of advertising has created what people think should be
the ideal male and female figure. People don t realize that everyone doesn t have to look like
people in advertisements and instead should just be

the teacher does not promote a particular religion for the students in her class according to the First
Amendment (Whitehead, 2002). The teacher can only discuss religion and the Bible if it relates to
a subject matter that is outlined in the approved curriculum (Whitehead, 2002).
Teachers must be careful not to even share Bible readings with students as this is declared
unconstitutional by state and district courts (Abington School District v. Schempp,1963). The
sharing of Bible readings even without teacher comment may violate the students First and
Fourteenth Amendment Rights (Essex,2012). Teachers must therefore follow the guidelines of the
Lemon Test that stipulates the fact that teachers must only teach courses that are offered in the
public schools using materials that they are designated to use in public schools and agree not to
teach courses in religion (Lemon v. Kurtzman and Early v. Dicenso, 1971).

Three Main Reasons For The Abolition Of The Atlantic Slave...
The abolition of the Atlantic slave trade. The aim of this essay is to evaluate the reasons for the
abolition of the Atlantic slave trade as well as conclude on what I determine to be the main
reason for the abolition. I will consider the three main factors; The influence of William
Wilberforce in parliament, The abolitionist campaign and its influence on public opinion, as
well as slave resistance and rebellion. The trade took place throughout the years of the 15th
century and continued through to the 19th century. The trade involved Europeans taking goods
from Europe such as weapons and fabric to Africa which they would trade for the brutal capture
of men, women and children from their homes and countries, these people would then be taken
to countries in north and south America on slave ships where they lived in terrible, cramped and
diseased conditions for months as they travelled through the middle passage. When they arrived
in America they would be forced to work in awful conditions on plantations in order to produce
goods such as sugar, cotton and tobacco. Which would then be transported back to Europe.
William Wilberforce was born in 1759. He grew up very privileged and became very popular and
well known for his eloquent, witty and powerful speeches and was elected to the house of
commons aged only 21. Wilberforce then used his platform to advocate for many causes such as
education reform. Wilberforce began to focus his efforts on the abolition of the slave trade

The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
Introduction
A lot of heat and controversy surrounds capital punishment in today s society. The death penalty
was built into the Texas justice system in 1835 and has retained most of its strength compared to
the rest of the states. The famous motto Don t Mess with Texas stands true when concerning the
death penalty; In Kenneth William s article, Texas: Tough on Murderers or on Fairness?. Williams
states, No one promotes this message [Don t Mess with Texas] more than Texas prosecutors with
their use of the death penalty. While the nation as a whole has become somewhat ambivalent about
capital punishment, Texas prosecutors continue to seek death sentences on a regular basis, and the

They randomly selected address throughout Texas and sent them a questionnaire filled with
questions such as, Do you support the death penalty? , Should there be a waiting period to ensure
an innocent life is not taken? , and Do you have confidence in the death penalty system? Their
research found that the majority of Texans still support the death penalty, yet they have little
confidence in the system. The subjects surveyed expressed concern with the due process in which it
is administered to inmates.
Alternative Research
However, In Morgan Reynolds online article, Fair and Effective in Texas on the Heartland Institute
website, she states that she believes the death penalty in Texas does serve as a deterrent. She states
that in Texas the death penalty is saved for the worst criminals who are truly deserving. She says
that crime rates in Texas have fallen nearly sixty percent since the state started using the sentence
for selective crimes in the 1990 s. She also states that if there is no death penalty than what value
you are putting on the life of the victim. On the website Waco Trib, Tommy Witherspoon writes in
his article Pursuit of death penalty slows in McLennan County, Texas , that the amount of inmates
being sentences to death row is dwindling each year in Texas because of the new law enacting the
option of life without parole. Life without parole is becoming popular

many managers find a comfort zone which reduces flexibility and future growth they tend to miss

Hemlock Wooly Adelgid
Why is our state tree (the Eastern Hemlock) in trouble?
The Eastern Hemlock is being attacked by the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. This invasive aphid like
insect kills Hemlock by feeding on their starch reserves and injecting a toxin into them that causes
their needles to drop more quickly. According to the article Rehabilitation Guidelines for
Hemlock Stands, Adelgids cause damage by depleting the Hemlock s starch reserves. When the
starch reserves are depleted, the tree doesn t have enough energy to grow. The Hemlock Wooly
Adelgid s toxin causes needles to fall off the tree faster, as shown in the article Forest Health Fact
Sheet . With less needles to perform photosynthesis in and not enough energy reserves to grow new
ones, the tree is unable to store enough energy to live well through the dark winters, and it dies

The Underlying Causes Of The Great Depression
According to the textbook, one of the underlying causes of the Depression was the crash of the
stock market in 1929. On October 29, 1929 the U.S. Stock market crashed and is known today as
Black Tuesday. During that time the most common credit extended to people was what was
called a call loan. The stock buyer would put down 10 to 50 percent of what the stock was worth
and borrow the rest to make full payment. If the stock dropped below a certain price the lender
could call back the loan, demanding immediate payment in full. Billions of dollars were lost by a
great many people, sending the economy into a tail spin.
Another factor was the problems with the economy. Agriculture had been in a severe depression for
years already and the industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article one of the lessons learned is that just because you qualify to get a loan
does not mean you should get a loan. The Great Depression was caused by a huge credit bubble that
finally burst. Banks loaned money to Wall Street who loaned money to investors. Investors
lowered their qualifications for getting loans so more people took out loans. It was a cycle that
finally collapsed. And it is a cycle that is easy for people to fall into today. Many of us get a loan
then we fall into trouble and can t pay the loan back so we go take out another loan to pay the first

Potential Spatial Structures Of Peregrine Falcon Populations
In addition to the conservation benefits of recognizing that metapopulations have spatial structure, a
number of important conservation risks arise when conservationists do not account for the various
potential spatial structures of metapopulations. One of the risks of assuming homogenous spatial
structure is that the models will produce falsely high numbers, as the actual populationviolates the
assumptions of the model. Wootton and Bell (1992) highlight the importance of addressing spatial
structures in their model of Peregrine Falcon populations, as the census data alone would predict a
falsely healthy population. Additionally, management plans in populations might be terminated
prematurely if conservationists do not understand and account for the dynamics of source and sink
metapopulations, which may have fluctuating levels of colonization and extinctionrates that are
normal for the dynamics of the population (Wootton and Bell 1992). Kauffman et al. (2004) echo
this finding, as they emphasize the importance of understanding habitatspecific demographic data
instead of an overall population count alone, which might carry the assumption of homogenous
spatial structure and lead to a misdiagnosis of a population. Another conservation risk of not
accounting for spatial structure is that conservationists are likely to miss the connections between
spatial structure and genetic structure, both of which play a major role in conservation. Fronhofer
et al. (2012) ran several

Ain T Language Analysis
The word ain t is one of the most commonly overlooked mistake in the English dictionary. It is
used very often in TV, books, movies, media, and music, so we shouldn t be surprised it is now in
our real life. Even though our English teachers and grammar books label the word ain t as incorrect
the use of the word has not been banished just yet.
One writer on the topic, Linda Eve Diamond, starts off her article by asking her audience is it true
what they say, that ain t ain t a word (or at least a proper one)? And if it is, why is it so
unacceptable now when in the eighteenth century it was just as respectable as any other
contraction? (par 1). Some individuals believe the person who studies and writes about grammar
made a big mistake by banishing the word. However, everyone knows that ain t is not proper.
Diamond goes on to explain that, language, after all is always changing. In any century, and

Use Of Ceramics In Filtration
Highly porous ceramics (foams, honeycombs, fibres , mats, etc.) find numerous applications in
various engineering fields, including filtration (molten metals, particulate from diesel exhaust

metal matrix composites, bioreactors, thermal protection systems, supports for space mirrors,
components in solid oxide fuel cells, lightweight sandwich structures, heat exchangers (graphite

These inclusions can be removed by placing ceramic filters in the gating system leading to the
mold. Such filters must resist attack at high temperature by a variety of molten metals. These metals
can contain such reactive elements as aluminium, titanium, hafnium, and carbon. Using these filters
can reduce scrap rates by 40% and increase yields by 10% for manufacturing a wide range of parts
made out of iron alloys, stainless steel, super alloys, aluminium, or other nonferrous alloys.
Molten metal filters generally come in two forms: a porous foam like structure with
interconnected pores that vary in direction or cross section, or an extruded porous cellular or
honeycomb structure with cells of various shapes (square or triangular) and constant cross section.
Though globally the most popular type of filter is foam, cellular filters are used in 75% of
applications in North America.
Filters can have either open cells or closed cells. Open cell (reticulate) filters consist of a
network of interconnected voids surrounded by a web of ceramic and are widely used for
molten metal filtration. Closed cell filters (foams) consist of a similar network but the beams are
bridged by thin faces which isolate the individual cell. The open porosity in an open cell structure
is critical in filter applications. The properties of a filter depend on both the cellular geometry
(density, cell size) and the properties of the material.

Psychoanalytic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films

Tim Burton is a director that uses an excellent assortment of stylistic techniques. Many authors and

You will notice that most of the characters that are people have the same traits: pale skin, dark
circles under their eyes, light hair or blonde and are white or probably from European decent.
This is seen in Edward Scissorhands, when you first see Edward you notice his pale white skin
and the ghostly dark circles under his doe eyes. If it weren t for Edward s doe brown eyes, you
would have assumed he was dead. All of these characteristics, except for the doe eyes, make the
characters in Tim Burton s films look like corpses which gives the gentle horror tone. The doe
eyes are what gives Edward a sense of child like innocence that expresses the main tone in this
movie. You will recognize some of these same characteristics in Alice In Wonderland. In this
movie, everyone in the real world is white, pale, blonde or brown hair, never black or black hair,
they also have the dark circles under their eyes. In Alice In Wonderland, you wouldn t be able to
tell Alice from the rest by how she looks, it is more how she talks, which is more under the

Connection To Native American Culture
My connection to Native American culture is very limited. The knowledge I do have would
primarily be from the Disney movie Pocachontas as well as what I learned in elementary school
relating to the first settlers and Thanksgiving. I have a basic understanding that their culture is
based deeply in spiritual rituals. I also know that they have been forced to move from their land
and have had to fight to keep the reservations that they currently reside on.
I would say that the Native American culture most influences me in relation to my love of art. The
Native Americans are well known for many artistic things in jewelry and pottery. The Native
American jewelry can also be based on spiritual rituals as well as tribal and is often turquoise

Sullivan And Chuck Klosterman
John Sullivan and Chuck Klosterman are both very skilled and talented journalists, as I have
already observed by the few essays that I have read by them. In Sullivan s The Final Comeback
of Axl Rose, he is describing his experience at one of Rose s comeback performances in New York
with different band members mocking the originals, as well as digging up Axl s past in Lafayette,
Indiana. Klosterman s piece, The Pretenders, isn t so much about Axl Rose himself, but is focusing
on the motivation behind tribute bands, specifically Paradise City, a Guns N Roses tribute.
Throughout both of these essays, the authors have drastic tone shifts that greatly add to the
messages within the pieces. Both Klosterman and Sullivan start out their essays

Good Food Revolution Analysis
In the book Good Food Revolution, it focuses on the main point of Will Allen s life and how he
has always been around food. I believe the book does a good job with tying in different
connections and references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food
ever since he was little. When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of
the soil where it takes the rootI believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to
himself. I believe he relates this to himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and
Will Allen has planted his roots around farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will
Allen needed farming to survive. His whole life and job has revolved around planting. A plant
lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and Will Allen did the same. His parents planted
the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up where they left off. Even though he was
not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and find a passion for farming as he
grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where he went he held onto farming
because that is all he knew. I believe this connection between Will Allen and the quote about the
plant enhances and helps tell the story of how Will Allen got involved in farming.
The connection The Good Food Revolution tries to also make is between ecology and human
development. Ecology is about dealing with relations of organisms to one another

Etruscans Vs Roman Architecture
The Romans retained many ideas about buildings from their Etruscan predecessors, but they also
absorbed some of the ideas of the Greek that were passed onto them by the Etruscans (Bleiberg,
2005). When looking back in time, the basic style of architecture that the Greek, Roman and
Etruscans used was different but also similar in a few ways such as techniques, materials, structures,
etc. For instance, when Roman architectures began to build their first temple of their time, they
based the structure off the Etruscans temple. Due to the fact that their structures promoted an
openness to them unlike the Greek temples. When looking at these styles closer, the Greek
architecture was known for their use of columns and colonnade, but the Roman architecture was
known for their use of arches and vaults. Then on the other hand the Etruscans were known for their
high podiums, unfluted columns and deep porches, unlike the Greeks that were known to build
shallow porches and projecting walls. The columns that the Etruscans used were spaced more apart
since the structured were assumed to have weighed less than other temples, such as the Greeks
marble temples. The way the Roman s used arches and vaults in their architecture had some... Show

Etruscan temples only consisted of columns in the front and in the Roman architecture it is
completely different. Their temples were made from brick and concrete as stated above then faced

Conflict Avoidance
In the problem between Trish and Dr. Ramos both sides are using the conflict avoidance
approach. Dr. Ramos exhibits conflict avoidance because she knows that Trish is not
performing well at work and that she does not pay overtime to Trish, but Dr. Ramos does not
take the initiative to solve the problem. Trish exhibits conflict avoidance because one year ago,
when she asked Dr. Ramos for a performance review and a raise of her salary, but Dr. Ramos took
six months in providing Trish with both requests. Trish thought it was not worth it to go all over
again with the same process of asking Dr. Ramos for anything.
Dr. Ramos is using the Traditional Views of Conflicts because she shares the views of corporate
management of the 1930s and 1940s which portrayed that conflict is harmful and must be avoided.
Dr. Ramos thinks that by having a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Trish
Trish is experiencing the three components of attitudes which are: cognitive which is the beliefs
of Trish, the affective which is the feelings of Trish and the behavioral which is the intention of
a Trish. The first one is cognitive that is about Trish working overtime and not getting reward for
that, and she thinks it is not fair. The second one is affective that is when Trisk begins to dislike
Dr. Ramos because she does not pay her overtime. The third one is behavioral and that is when
Trish began putting less effort at work and her intentions is to look for another job.
Trish is exhibiting deviant productive workplace behavior which violates that organizational
norms. Trish is putting less effort at work, she is working slowly and the situation affected the
other employees because they have to do Trish s job at the end of the day and that is making them

Mixing Bowl Depicting Dueling Scene From The Trojan War
Storytelling Through The Ages Art tells a story. No matter how you swing it there s a rhyme or
reason as to why it was created. Ancient art is no exception to this especially when it comes to
the ancient Greeks and the Chinese. Mixing Bowl Depicting Dueling Scene from the Trojan War
and the Nine Dragons scroll, though seemingly different have a lot more in common with each
other than initially visible. Chinese scroll art starts with mounting the backs of silks with paper
and pasting them before creating the borders of the scroll. The whole scroll is then backed before
the roller or fittings are attached. This process could take weeks or months. There are five different
traditional formats that scrolls were painted in. Thin strip,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The process consisted of throwing the pieces on the wheel then joining them together with slip.
Then the decorations were added. There are two main ways that Greek pottery was decorated,
red figure and black figure. Black figure is when a alkali potash or soda, which is clay with
silicon content, and black ferrous oxide of iron is added to create the figures on the vessel. The
opposite is true for Red figure. This is when the black was added to create all the lines, leaving
the figures red. The Mixing Bowl Depicting Dueling Scenes from the Trojan War is a red figure
vessel that tells two related stories on each side. On side A, the MFA Boston website says the
story is this: His death at the hands of Achilles was described in the Aethiopis, a lost epic poem.
Achilles and Memnon wear corselets covered with plates of scale armor. Achilles carries a
Theban shield, with deep, semi circular notches; the device on the front is not visible but Memnon
s shield has the head of a gorgon. Encouraged by Athena who holds out her snake rimmed Aegis,
Achilles has stabbed Memnon, who falls into the arms of his mother Eos, goddess of the Dawn.
She carried his body to Ethiopia, where, at her urging, Zeus granted him

Battle Of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad is known as the turning point of World War II as it is notorious for being
the first crucial loss for the Third Reich. Certainly, Hitler created this two pronged attack to close
the front on the east and to essentially knock Russia out of the war, however the aggressive fighting
that came from the Russians caused the Germans to rethink their easy Blitzkrieg strategy and the
Russians launched the astonished Germans into hand to hand combat. And although the Germans
had been striking victories within Russiaafter breaking the German Soviet Nonaggression Pact, the
Germans had multiple imperfections that led to their fall at Stalingrad; for they came as
conquerors and not as liberators. This conflict is known as one of... Show more content on

Also, it would prevent a similar repeat of World War Iwhere the Germans were faced fighting a
two front war; fighting with Britain and France in the west and Russians in the east. Due to the
failure of Operation Barbarossa, Hitler had accidentally opened up the eastern front and
immediately needed to crush the Soviet to remove it and therefore secure victory. In fact, it
would be a great propaganda victory to capture the city that holds the name of the USSR
dictator, Stalin. In the end, Hitler s overall goals were to remove Soviet forces, secure the
economic assets, and move south of Moscow to overtake the remainder of the Caucasus and
Moscow. Meanwhile, Stalin, who also knew how necessary Stalingrad is in regards of
transportation and industry, prepared by creating the Stalingrad Front and passed Order No. 227,
where the only extenuating cause was death and troops were told, not one step backward, by Stalin
s command. The battle as Stalingrad would set the lines for the remainder of the war and both
dictators knew that as the German troops approached

Woman In Red
In the Woman in Red scene of the film The Matrix directed by Lana Wachowski and Lilly

We are exposed to the simulation and its representation of the power the matrix has. According
to Dix (2008), low angles enhance the power of the subject. Morpheus says freeze it and the
dialogue is accompanied by a low angle shot and the audience is forced to look up at him. This
shot shows Morpheus has power inside the matrix. Morpheus looks out of frame when he says
this, confirming prior suspicions they are in a training simulation. The fast tempo and rhythm
grind to a halt with the freeze frame. The high angle wide shot gives us greater insight into the
mimicking stimulation of the chaotic matrix. The simulation emphasises the control and violation
the matrix can have on people within it. Morpheus and Neo are able to freely move, they are not
restrained by the matrix. In the normal world, there is a variety of individuality, the simulation
shows that people in the matrix are unable to make their own choices. The neutral black and
white costuming similar to the agents show they are slaves of them, brainwashed by the matrix.
The doves in the shot are frozen mid flight, a symbol of freedom and peace are unable to be free
as they too are contained in the matrix. According to Bordwell and Thompson (2013), soundtrack is
normally clarified and simplified so important material stands out. The music stops for a moment,
putting emphasis on the freeze frame and Neo falls back into

Tipping Point Research Paper
Many parts of our daily life revolve around social sciences and are caused by much more research
and in depth thought than we may originally realize. Innumerable products, ideas, epidemics, and
modern thought processes are the product of tipping points. For any idea to gain enough ground to
become popular to a large audience, it has to have a very specific environment and the idea must
be spread at very certain times in history. There is a very precarious balance to making anything
have the ability to be prominent or sought after. Nature, political revolutions, and credibility and
popularity are all events and phenomena that have tipping points and relate to The Tipping Pointby
Malcolm Gladwell. Nature has many tipping points that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The credibility of a person depends on many different elements. Credibility can pertain to
trustworthiness and expertise. Trustworthiness is affected by things like reliability and
characteristics of the person. Expertise is affected by credentials and proven skill (Flanagin,
Metzger, 4). The same person may be perceived as credible at one point in time, but may lack
credibility later in time. Credibility is largely based on what we as a society are experiencing
during that time period. Small things may affect credibility that we would not originally think
to include. If a person were to see an ad every day about a certain lawyer, they might think of the
lawyer if it comes a time for them to need a lawyer. But if someone were to hear about how
wonderful a certain lawyer is from a friend or coworker, that person would be more likely to use
that lawyer if the need arose. It stands to reason that people are more likely to trust people they
know blindly when it comes to credibility. Appearance is another aspect of credibility that would
not always be considered. Much of the time it is subconscious, but people are more likely to trust
a person or service if the staff or spokesperson is attractive physically

Angiotensin Research Paper
Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors also known as ACE inhibitors that are commonly
used to decrease blood pressure. ACE inhibitors block the production of angiotensin I to
angiotensin II which then decrease the levels of angiotensin II and elevated levels of
bradykinin. ACE drugs are also used to treat heart failure, diabetic nephropathy, and MI. The
blockage of angiotensin I to angiotensin II can produce vasodilation, decrease blood volume,
decrease cardiac and vascular remodeling, potassium retention and fetal injury which are all
possible side effects for ACE. A big thing to note about ACE it that it should not be given to
women who are of childbearing age due to the risk for fetal injury, especially if they are in their
second or third trimester of pregnancy. Since ACE inhibitors can increase bradykinin levels they
potential side effect for that is vasodilation, ACE cough, angioedema. If a patient presents with
signs of edema in their eyes, tongue and lips this could be sign of angioedema which is life
threatening and patients should be sent to the hospital and not take ACE inhibitors anymore.... Show

Like many drugs ACE inhibitors should be carefully used with patients who might be taking
diuretics, antihypertensive agents, drugs that increase potassium levels, lithium, and NSAIDS.
Common ACE inhibitor drugs are Benazepril, enalaprilat, captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril,

  • 2. Oral And Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex Debunking the Misconception that Oral and Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex Although the origin is unknown, for many years the common misconception that both oral sex and anal sex are safer alternatives to vaginal sex has been fuelled, especially in regards to pregnancy and the contraction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This may be partially due to the fact that most individuals do not consider oral sex and anal sex to be real relative to vaginal sex. The belief of this claim has influenced individuals sexual behaviours for years, including the ways in which they prioritize protection, and more specifically, condom use. However, although both oral and anal sex are less likely to result in pregnancy, there is just as likely a chance of an individual who has participated in oral or anal sex contracting an STI as an individual who partook in vaginal sex. In fact, different methods of sexual behaviour do not necessarily mean you are subject to fewer risks, but to different risks. With progressing attitudes towards sex and greater acceptance of alternative sexual behaviours, the amount of people engaging in a wider variety of sexual behaviours has increased tremendously over the years. With greater participation in sexual behaviour comes a greater risk of pregnancy and contracting and passing STIs. Therefore, evaluated in this paper will be the misconception that oral sex and anal sex are safer than vaginal sex through the utilization of supplementary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gibran writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran challenges and raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a different form. The author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the beginning, and that we should be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they suffer from greater poverty than the homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when one does what may appear to be wrong or evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind world and can t see clear, and not to judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human nature completely opposite, since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome. • 6. Evolution of Australian Biota Assessment Answers a) Discuss current research into the evolutionary relationships between extinct species, including megafauna and extant Australian species. Megafauna simply means large animals, in which most have become extinct within the last 20 000 to 50 000 years. The extinction of megafauna was, debatably, due to climate change and human expansion. Although, Africa still retains some megafauna, such as the elephant or the rhinoceros. Australia has managed to keep many examples of relict species, some from the time of the megafauna. These include the Crocodile, Wollemi Pine and Stromatolites. Megafauna are not direct ancestors of the current animals, rather certain animals both evolved from a common ancestor. Another scientific question was that of its body temperature, but with the development of radiotelementary scientists ideas about this changed. Radiotelementary can record body temperature and transmit this information. It has helped scientists in understanding whether the Platypus can maintain its body temperature when swimming in cold water. Scientists have contiuned to develop their ideas through the research of amino acids, which allowed them to observe trends between the sequences of placentals and marsupials. Fossils have also been an important technological development in understanding the Platypus. As well as cell observation, allowing Scientists to discover the Platypus salt retaining kidneys. Another huge discovery about Platypus was able to come about because of new technology, the question of how the Platypus got its food. But if you re one of those homeowners and there are a lot of you who keep putting off a roof inspection, there are some things that even a layman like you can spot that will let you know if your roof is a goner: вћ› Your roof is really old. While this technically isn t something you can see on your roof, as a homeowner, you should have a rough idea how old your roof is. The Tangling Of Religion And Politics The Tangling of Religion and Politics Religion and politics are quite mingled into society both in the developed countries as well as in developing countries. Religion and politics are two divisions of a single person. Religion speaks for a person s moral values and beliefs and politics reaches out to one s secular lifestyle. People involved in society may have deep rooted religious beliefs that control their behaviors and thought process and most times impact their political stance and ideology. However, the split between the two does cause controversial decision making. Using major religions such as Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism to show how faith relates to politics will be demonstrated. Islam has been and still is heavily intertwined within the society and government with no real line separating the two. The Prophet Muhammad started Islam in Mecca, Arabia centuries ago and now it has grown to become the second largest religion dominating the world today. Muslims, Islamic believers, believe in one God which translates to Allah in the Arabic language. Their beliefs are based off of their holy book, Qur an, and the Sunnah. The Sunnah is the verbally transmitted records of Muhammad and it designates five basic Pillars of Islam, declaration of faith, praying five times a day, giving money to charity, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca at least one time. Cleopatra stood at one of the most dangerous intersections in history: that of women and power. Clever women, Euripides had warned hundreds of years earlier, were dangerous (112). The number of successful female leaders up until this day is drastically smaller than the male ones, and even now in 21st century the stereotype of a leader is a male. How did Cleopatra manage to go around this stereotype and become such a successful ruler? She got the men of her time obsessed with her. When thinking about power, we should remember Aristotle s saying, Yet what difference does it make weather the women rule or the rulers are ruled by women? The result is the same . Cleopatra managed to be a ruler herself, while ruling the most influential men of her time. No one before, or after Cleopatra was ever able to do this again, but to this day she is a role model. • 16. Regarding Henry Movie Analysis The movie Regarding Henry is about an affluent, successful lawyer, named Henry Turner, that lives in New York City with his family. At the beginning of the movie, Henry is selfish and uncaring for others, however, one night Henry goes to a convenient store to get a pack of cigarettes. What Henry does not realize, is the the store is being robbed at gunpoint and Henry gets frustrated that the clerk will not give him a pack of cigarettes. Henry s selfishness is what gets him shot twice, due to the fact that he is too greedy to not give up his wallet for his well being. When Henry wakes up from his coma, he does not remember his family or his personality, which is the start of his transition from Id to Superego. As he continues to recover, his personality changes dramatically from what it used to be. He becomes caring for other people as well as for their feelings, and wants to help people instead of hurting them. All this leads me to believe that Henry Turner s natural state is the Superego and that the Id was learned over time as he became a lawyer. Henry Turner reveals the Id side of his mind in many parts of the movie. The most prominent scene of this is when Henry yells at his daughter for spilling grape juice on his expensive piano. What does Descartes find to be ultimately indubitable to constitute the foundation of his new philosophy? Descartes function of doubt in Meditations is basically to overthrow skepticism on its own ground, to begin by doubting everything you know and everything you think you know. The first stage of doubt is the argument of physical misconception, our senses betray us some of the time but possible that it betrays us all of the time. The aim of this essay is to evaluate the reasons for the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade as well as conclude on what I determine to be the main reason for the abolition. I will consider the three main factors; The influence of William Wilberforce in parliament, The abolitionist campaign and its influence on public opinion, as well as slave resistance and rebellion. The trade took place throughout the years of the 15th century and continued through to the 19th century. The trade involved Europeans taking goods from Europe such as weapons and fabric to Africa which they would trade for the brutal capture of men, women and children from their homes and countries, these people would then be taken to countries in north and south America on slave ships where they lived in terrible, cramped and diseased conditions for months as they travelled through the middle passage. When they arrived in America they would be forced to work in awful conditions on plantations in order to produce goods such as sugar, cotton and tobacco. Which would then be transported back to Europe. William Wilberforce was born in 1759. He grew up very privileged and became very popular and well known for his eloquent, witty and powerful speeches and was elected to the house of commons aged only 21. • 31. Potential Spatial Structures Of Peregrine Falcon Populations In addition to the conservation benefits of recognizing that metapopulations have spatial structure, a number of important conservation risks arise when conservationists do not account for the various potential spatial structures of metapopulations. One of the risks of assuming homogenous spatial structure is that the models will produce falsely high numbers, as the actual populationviolates the assumptions of the model. Wootton and Bell (1992) highlight the importance of addressing spatial structures in their model of Peregrine Falcon populations, as the census data alone would predict a falsely healthy population. Additionally, management plans in populations might be terminated prematurely if conservationists do not understand and account for the dynamics of source and sink metapopulations, which may have fluctuating levels of colonization and extinctionrates that are normal for the dynamics of the population (Wootton and Bell 1992). Kauffman et al. (2004) echo this finding, as they emphasize the importance of understanding habitatspecific demographic data instead of an overall population count alone, which might carry the assumption of homogenous spatial structure and lead to a misdiagnosis of a population. Another conservation risk of not accounting for spatial structure is that conservationists are likely to miss the connections between spatial structure and genetic structure, both of which play a major role in conservation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These inclusions can be removed by placing ceramic filters in the gating system leading to the mold. Such filters must resist attack at high temperature by a variety of molten metals. These metals can contain such reactive elements as aluminium, titanium, hafnium, and carbon. Using these filters can reduce scrap rates by 40% and increase yields by 10% for manufacturing a wide range of parts made out of iron alloys, stainless steel, super alloys, aluminium, or other nonferrous alloys. Molten metal filters generally come in two forms: a porous foam like structure with interconnected pores that vary in direction or cross section, or an extruded porous cellular or honeycomb structure with cells of various shapes (square or triangular) and constant cross section. Though globally the most popular type of filter is foam, cellular filters are used in 75% of applications in North America. Filters can have either open cells or closed cells. Open cell (reticulate) filters consist of a network of interconnected voids surrounded by a web of ceramic and are widely used for molten metal filtration. Closed cell filters (foams) consist of a similar network but the beams are bridged by thin faces which isolate the individual cell. The open porosity in an open cell structure is critical in filter applications. The properties of a filter depend on both the cellular geometry (density, cell size) and the properties of the material. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many authors and directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland , and The Nightmare Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or thing look like, characters that are child like and essentially innocent, imagery is also used to portray the dark, along ... I believe the book does a good job with tying in different connections and references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food ever since he was little. When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of the soil where it takes the rootI believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to himself. I believe he relates this to himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and Will Allen has planted his roots around farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will Allen needed farming to survive. His whole life and job has revolved around planting. A plant lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and Will Allen did the same. His parents planted the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up where they left off. Even though he was not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and find a passion for farming as he grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where he went he held onto farming because that is all he knew. When looking back in time, the basic style of architecture that the Greek, Roman and Etruscans used was different but also similar in a few ways such as techniques, materials, structures, etc. For instance, when Roman architectures began to build their first temple of their time, they based the structure off the Etruscans temple.
