Parenting Styles Essay
Parenting Styles
Parenting styles are as diverse as parents themselves. Parenting is one of the most challenging and
difficult responsibilities a person can face. The way a family is structured is called the parenting
style. Parenting styles are collections of parental attitudes, practices, and non–verbal expressions that
characterize the nature of parent–child relationships. Because individuals learn how to parent from
many different examples including their own parents, role models, society and life experiences.
Parenting techniques can vary greatly from household to household, however, experts believe that
parenting styles can be broken down into four main categories which include

Putting aside those who are bad parents because they give little time, attention, or effort to the
rearing of their children (parents who let their children fend for themselves from a very early
age)would fall into the neglectful catagory.
Research indicates that about one–third of all parents use authoritative style of parenting. Regardless
of the preferred style, varying factors such as culture, the temperament of the child and parent, and
parental status will influence the interactive process of that style. Most parents could benefit from
knowledge and information of these style to improve their parenting skills.Parenting style is a pattern
of behavior that influences child–rearing practices. Approaches vary based on several factors,
ranging from how parents themselves were raised to the goals parents have for their children.
Good Parenting VS. Bad Parenting
Good Parenting
As many people know being a parent is one of the biggest responsibilities they will have in their
entire lifetime. It requires much time, especially during a child's adolescence. Being a good parent is
loving your child for one part, and other qualities that must be taken up to be a good parent are:
supporting them financially and emotionally, not putting them down, letting them have some
independence, and

Temperament And How Is It Formed?
Temperaments What is temperaments and how is it formed? Temperament is the way a person or in
this matter a child or infant would behave or react to an event or their environment (Cook & Cook,
2014). A temperament is formed by nature and nurture, all thought an infant is born with an "innate
tendency" the temperament will form as the infant parents reinforce this temperament (Cook &
Cook, 2014). Some infants are born more sociable, and others might be shy and even afraid of most
things (Cook & Cook, 2014). Everyone needs to feel accepted, and children are not far behind, is
important they feel accepted even if their temperament "isn't easy to handle" or just a breeze
temperament (Zerotothree, 2010). A child's temperament and personality can be a something they
have inherited from the infants' parents, but the environment where the infant grows is just as
important as the genetics (Cook &...show more content...
A child that has an easy temperament is usually positive, smiles frequently and very easy, can
overcome new situations easily and adapt to the new changes, most of all will have a set schedule
for eating, sleeping and other activities (Cook & Cook, 2014). A difficult temperament is the
opposite of an easy temperament. The child is usually negative and will become frustrated very
easily, any new situations will become a problem, and shows no pattern when it comes to basic
things like eating and sleeping (Cook & Cook, 2014). In another hand, a child that has a
slow–to–warm–up temperament can sometimes have a negative behavior to new things but if
exposure is persistent a better or positive response can be developed (Cook & Cook, 2014). The
better side of a child that has a slow–to–warm–up temperament is that they have "less emotional
reactions" and would actually do better with scheduled times for eating and sleeping (Cook & Cook,

Essay on Types Of Research
Research is done everyday. Research is used in the many different situations managers encounter
everyday. Research is part of the problem–solving manager do to make decisions. Research is
defined as "the process of finding solutions to problem after thorough study and analysis of the
situational factor" (Sekaran, p3, 2003). Managers use research for daily operational problem as well
as bigger problems that can require hired research consultants. Managers who use research are able
to communicate with the hired consultants because they understand the process of inquiry,
investigation, examination, and explanation. Managers are also, capable of understanding the
difference in good and bad studies, and can apply the research done to...show more content...
Applied research is "aimed at solving a currently experienced problem" (Sekaran, p10, 2003). This
research can be as simple as finding solutions to daily operational problems.
One problem managers consistently want research on is the relationship between customer
satisfaction and loyalty. The research found on the relationship of customer satisfaction and loyalty
spans over the past decade. Many researchers argue that there is no relationship between customer
satisfaction and loyalty while others find direct correlations between the two and a business's
profitability. In Roger Hadowell's study, he defines loyalty as both behavioral and attitude while
conducting his research on a banking organization. He states that behaviors including continuance,
increased relationship, and recommendations are all behaviors of loyalty to an organization
(Hadowell, 1996). His research illustrates the "relationship of profitability to customer related
outcomes that managers can influence directly" (Hadowell, 1996). His findings support the
hypothesis that customer satisfaction influences customer loyalty increasing profitability. Hadowell
addresses two difficulties that he encountered during his research. First, work with the organization
in order to develop the ideal measurement system used for the research. Secondly, focus on data
collected over a period of time with strong organizations (Hadowell, 1996).

Essay about Crime
Crime
In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act.
Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder,
stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk
driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically
since the start of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being
charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even
though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types

Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors.
Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system,
felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A
misdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons
convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their
sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses.
Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually
bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary,
embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter
penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The
law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case.
Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter
occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually
occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies.

Relationships and Interactions in Biology Essay
Biology essay – Relationships and interactions
There are many different types of relationships and interactions between organisms. Every organism
is in some way connected or associated with another. Some organisms need to depend on other
organisms to survive which shows how important some of these relationships or interactions can be
in biology. Interaction is a vital part of how many organisms develop over time.
Predation is a main example of a relationship between organisms. Predation involves predators and
prey, such as a fox catching and eating a rabbit. There are two other forms of predation called,
parasitism and grazing. Parasitism is where the host organism is exploited and used for benefit by
the other organism called a...show more content...
Lichens are another example of mutualism. Lichens are formed by algae and fungi living together
and they both help each other. Algae can photosynthesise and make food, which is shared by the
fungus. The fungus in turn shelters the algae from a harsh climate.
Commensalism is when one species can benefit from a relationship and not hurt the other. There are
four different main types; chemical, inquilinism, metabiosis and phoresy. Chemical commensalism
is most often observed between bacteria. It involves the species of one bacteria feeding on the
chemicals produced or the waste products of the other bacteria. Inquilinism involves one species
using the body of another organism as a platform or living space while the host does not benefit or is
harmed. Metabiosis occurs when one species unintentionally creates a home for another species
through one of its normal life activities. A phoresy takes place when one organism attaches to
another organism specifically for the purpose of gaining transportation. An example of
commensalism (inquilinism) is barnacles and whales. Barnacles are non–moving and they rely on
currents to bring them food. Some barnacles attach themselves to whales in order to help them live.
They can benefit as they are then transported over the ocean which exposes them to more feeding
oppurtunities. The whale neither benefits or is harmed by the barnacles.

Types of Rocks
Types of Rocks
Geologists classify rocks in three groups, according to the major Earth processes that formed them.
The three rock groups are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Anyone who wishes to
collect rocks should become familiar with the characteristics of these three rock groups. Knowing
how a geologist classifies rocks is important if you want to transform a random group of rock
specimens into a true collection.
Igneous rocks are formed from melted rock that has cooled and solidified. When rocks are buried
deep within the Earth, they melt because of the high pressure and temperature; the molten rock
(called magma) can then flow upward or even be erupted from a volcano onto the Earth's surface.
When magma cools slowly,...show more content...
Scuba divers who have seen mud and shells settling on the floors of lagoons find it easy to
understand how sedimentary rocks form.
Sometimes sedimentary and igneous rocks are subjected to pressures so intense or heat so high that
they are completely changed. They become metamorphic rocks, which form while deeply buried
within the Earth's crust. The process of metamorphism does not melt the rocks, but instead
transforms them into denser, more compact rocks. New minerals are created either by rearrangement
of mineral components or by reactions with fluids that enter the rocks. Some kinds of metamorphic
rocks––granite gneiss and biotite schist are two examples––are strongly banded or foliated. (Foliated
means the parallel arrangement of certain mineral grains that gives the rock a striped appearance.)
Pressure or temperature can even change previously metamorphosed rocks into new types.
Rock–forming and rock–destroying processes have been active for billions of years. Today, in the
Guadalupe Mountains of western Texas, one can stand on limestone, a sedimentary rock, that was a
coral reef in a tropical sea about 250 million years ago. In Vermont's Green Mountains one can see
schist, a metamorphic rock, that was once mud in a shallow sea. Half Dome in Yosemite Valley,
Calif., which now stands nearly 8,800 feet above sea level, is composed of quartz monzonite, an
igneous rock that solidified several thousand feet within the

The Different Types of Media Essay
The Different Types of Media
I think that all different types of media have lots of different influences on society, especially
individuals. There is an enormous variety of media including; television, newspapers, radio,
magazines, advertisements etc. It seems that the more developed that society gets, the harder it
becomes to escape media. One of the most common forms of media is advertisements.
Advertisements are not only one of the most common forms of media but also one of the most
over–exposed types of media there is. This is because advertisements appear in every single type of
other media there is, therefore making advertisements are an essential way for people to 'advertise',

From soaps, like Coronation Street, to documentaries, like a day to remember, there's something for
all ages and makes it hard for people not to get infected by this contagious disease. Some people
might argue that television is a waste of time that could be better spent or that it displaces the brain
of useful information, when in fact these people are mistaken. With televisions powerful
documentaries it encourages everyone to take an interest in something and to learn about a passion
or maybe teach them how to carry out a dream. Television actually develops and nurtures the mind.
Even soaps have a secret hidden agenda of teaching the viewer about topics some people are too
scared to talk about or confront. For example a recent storyline in Coronation Street about an
emotional violent relationship shows that just because someone doesn't show bruises doesn't mean
they aren't in a abusive relationship. Soaps also feature stories of transvestites, child abductions,
murders, child neglect etc. putting these on a television screen educates people about everyday
things that other people believe shouldn't be discussed.
Radio is another form of media, however it's less extreme. Radio generally reaches out to the
younger generation with popular radio stations, like Galaxy 102 and Key 103, they feature what is
known as popular music, dance and R'n'B. it encourages

have any attachment to them it can affect their overall personality they can have low self esteem or
it can also afrect their academic because they don't know if theres somebody who they can turn to if

Different Types of Love Essay
"Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love
is a growing up." –James A. Baldwin. The author, Baldwin talks about the fact that we assume love
starts once you meet that person and it ends when you die, but love is everlasting and is a part of
you from the very beginning. In his quote he also says that we will face different types of love, while
growing up. Films are made about it, books, songs, and poems are written. Artists draw, paint and
sculpt from inspiration of it and people spend their entire lives waiting for it. In dictionaries love is
defined as a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection but it is more than just a deep

This is why mother sends out more of a warm fuzzy feeling than the father. Family love is the type
of love that every human being encounters throughout his or her lifetime. It's the very first and
less painful type of love. Parental love isn't the only part of family love. Sibling love is a big part
to. Sibling rivalry starts when the second child is born and the 1st child starts to feel alienated and
abandoned. Even though siblings are like archenemies, they have the most caring love. Since they
are closer through blood, they have the ability to protect each other and fight for each other.
Another main type of love is the love that is felt towards friends. This love is felt less when younger
because when you are younger you are accompanied more by parental love and attention. But when
grown older, parents become busier that the kid will start creating their own bonds and connections
with other children their age. This would start a friendship. After people make new friends they start
to become more dependent and more trusting until they feel like they are one person with their
friend. Having common interests, similar history, common values, and equality draws people to be
together as friends. Psychologically when one friend feels pain the other friend feels it because of
the bond created between them. In their mind they have automatically "connected" themselves with
that person. But friendship is the hardest to find because you're not

Essay on Violence
Violence is one of the most problematic issues society faces today, and it has been increasing day
after day, in the streets of our cities. The most common description of what violence really is can be
given as negativity towards something or someone either through physical or verbal actions, which
often causes the victim to suffer pain. The different types of violence that exist in our multi–cultural
society are out–numbered, but the most evident ones are domestic, gang, sexual, and racial violence.
While violence can definitely be reduced, it will never be eliminated due to the nature of humans.

On October 24 2000, a news article headline read, "Gang wars 6 Dead". This event had taken place
in Etobicoke, and the news article contained sentences like "Six victims in six months" and
"calculated executions". It also contained terms like "Bloods" and "Crips". These terms and
sentences have officially crossed the border and have become all too familiar in Canadian cities.
In order to cut back this outlaw behaviour, we need to educate our youth about the ill effects of
gangs, drugs, guns, and should try to persuade them to instead make friends with those who accept
you for who you are and use all their time in doing something positive and proactive. As a result of
reducing and preventing gang violence, many cities have created special task forces and given
schools their own police officers.
Sexual violence is another form of violence that has plagued our cities. This crime involves violence
that is specifically sexual in nature, to which the victim does not give consent. According to 2005
statistics, 51% of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of sexual violence. 6
out of 10 victims who reported being sexually violated were under 17. These numbers are alarming
and scary. It is extremely important to get rid of such sinister crimes in our communities because it
robs the victims of their innocence, self–esteem, confidence, and even trust in our society. The

Different Types of Energy Essay
Energy Paper
There are many forms of energy. The types of energy that can affect the toy car are potential energy,
kinetic energy, and work of friction. Potential is the energy of an object due to its position. Kinetic
energy is the energy due to motion. Friction plays a part because it shows how much energy is needed
for the car to move. All these energies are intertwined in the toy car.Potential energy is the energy
that is stored in the toy car. When an object is not moving the object has a mass potential of energy.
There are also different types of potential energy i.e.: elastic, gravitational, hydroelectric, and
chemical (Demlin, 2000–2007). The type of potential energy that affected the toy car was

Friction allows the car's wheels to spin across the floor without just sliding across the floor.
Friction is also present in the gear box of the toy car. Friction is present because the gears have to
rotate against each other in order for the toy car to obtain potential energy. The toy car only
produces rolling friction, which is present when the wheels rotate against the floor. Rolling also
appears in the gearbox. Friction while not energy affects the energy in the toy car in two ways.
Friction causes kinetic energy to be lost while the car is moving. Kinetic energy is lost when the
wheels rotate against the floor because the wheels are using kinetic energy to move. The energy
is then lost when because of rolling friction heat is produced. In a shorter sense the wheels
because of friction convert some of the kinetic energy into thermal energy (heat). Energy is also
lost when the gears in the gear box rotate against each other. Some energy would be lost because
of the friction of the gears some potential energy would be converted to thermal energy affect
making less potential energy available. While friction causes a loss to energy, rolling friction
allows less work to be able to overcome friction ("About Friction", 2003). Friction while not energy
plays a part in both energies that affect the toy car. The toy has uses two main energies, Kinetic and
Potential. Potential energy is made by the pulling back of the car. Kinetic is made when after the car

not economically the same as others. Some get bullied because they are not as social as other
kids and prefer to stay alone most of the time. Physical appearance meaning as in size, color, or
ethnicity can cause a kid to get bullied in school also. What do these kids go through? They get
pushed at in the hallways. They get named called in class with words such as "freak" or "lame".
Not only that, sometimes these kids aren't allowed to sit in certain areas in the lunch tables or they
would get teased at for just being there. The commonest type of bullying is general name calling,

Types And Forms Of Communication Essay
Introduction
Overview
Communications skills are fundamental to any person's life because naturally, man is a social being
and people spend most of their time communicating in different forms such as; oral, non–verbal,
written and interpersonal. Most successful people are those who are good at interacting with other
people in different situations. The ability to skilfully interact with people is grounded in a person's
unwavering skills in the different forms of communication. Therefore, it is important for students to
appreciate should and develop good communication skills.
Types and Forms of Communication
Having appreciated the importance of communication in different contexts, it is imperative to
understand the different forms or categories of communication, in which people engage in. This is
because these different forms of communication demand unique sets of skills or tactics.
Oral Communication: this involves exchange of messages or information using spoken words and is
commonly referred to as communication by word of mouth. This occurs in different interaction set
ups such as meetings, talks, discussions, presentations, interviews, speeches and so on.
Written Communication: this form of communication entails the creation of a 'hard copy' of the
message or simply written messages or words in the form of business letters, reports, research
papers, articles, note taking etc.
Non–Verbal Communication: this is the wordless form of communication which takes the form

  • 1. Parenting Styles Essay Parenting Styles Parenting styles are as diverse as parents themselves. Parenting is one of the most challenging and difficult responsibilities a person can face. The way a family is structured is called the parenting style. Parenting styles are collections of parental attitudes, practices, and non–verbal expressions that characterize the nature of parent–child relationships. Because individuals learn how to parent from many different examples including their own parents, role models, society and life experiences. Parenting techniques can vary greatly from household to household, however, experts believe that parenting styles can be broken down into four main categories which include permissive,authoritarian,authoritative,and...show more content... Putting aside those who are bad parents because they give little time, attention, or effort to the rearing of their children (parents who let their children fend for themselves from a very early age)would fall into the neglectful catagory. Research indicates that about one–third of all parents use authoritative style of parenting. Regardless of the preferred style, varying factors such as culture, the temperament of the child and parent, and parental status will influence the interactive process of that style. Most parents could benefit from knowledge and information of these style to improve their parenting skills.Parenting style is a pattern of behavior that influences child–rearing practices. Approaches vary based on several factors, ranging from how parents themselves were raised to the goals parents have for their children. Good Parenting VS. Bad Parenting Good Parenting As many people know being a parent is one of the biggest responsibilities they will have in their entire lifetime. It requires much time, especially during a child's adolescence. Being a good parent is loving your child for one part, and other qualities that must be taken up to be a good parent are: supporting them financially and emotionally, not putting them down, letting them have some independence, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Temperament And How Is It Formed? Temperaments What is temperaments and how is it formed? Temperament is the way a person or in this matter a child or infant would behave or react to an event or their environment (Cook & Cook, 2014). A temperament is formed by nature and nurture, all thought an infant is born with an "innate tendency" the temperament will form as the infant parents reinforce this temperament (Cook & Cook, 2014). Some infants are born more sociable, and others might be shy and even afraid of most things (Cook & Cook, 2014). Everyone needs to feel accepted, and children are not far behind, is important they feel accepted even if their temperament "isn't easy to handle" or just a breeze temperament (Zerotothree, 2010). A child's temperament and personality can be a something they have inherited from the infants' parents, but the environment where the infant grows is just as important as the genetics (Cook &...show more content... A child that has an easy temperament is usually positive, smiles frequently and very easy, can overcome new situations easily and adapt to the new changes, most of all will have a set schedule for eating, sleeping and other activities (Cook & Cook, 2014). A difficult temperament is the opposite of an easy temperament. The child is usually negative and will become frustrated very easily, any new situations will become a problem, and shows no pattern when it comes to basic things like eating and sleeping (Cook & Cook, 2014). In another hand, a child that has a slow–to–warm–up temperament can sometimes have a negative behavior to new things but if exposure is persistent a better or positive response can be developed (Cook & Cook, 2014). The better side of a child that has a slow–to–warm–up temperament is that they have "less emotional reactions" and would actually do better with scheduled times for eating and sleeping (Cook & Cook, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Types Of Research Research is done everyday. Research is used in the many different situations managers encounter everyday. Research is part of the problem–solving manager do to make decisions. Research is defined as "the process of finding solutions to problem after thorough study and analysis of the situational factor" (Sekaran, p3, 2003). Managers use research for daily operational problem as well as bigger problems that can require hired research consultants. Managers who use research are able to communicate with the hired consultants because they understand the process of inquiry, investigation, examination, and explanation. Managers are also, capable of understanding the difference in good and bad studies, and can apply the research done to...show more content... Applied research is "aimed at solving a currently experienced problem" (Sekaran, p10, 2003). This research can be as simple as finding solutions to daily operational problems. One problem managers consistently want research on is the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty. The research found on the relationship of customer satisfaction and loyalty spans over the past decade. Many researchers argue that there is no relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty while others find direct correlations between the two and a business's profitability. In Roger Hadowell's study, he defines loyalty as both behavioral and attitude while conducting his research on a banking organization. He states that behaviors including continuance, increased relationship, and recommendations are all behaviors of loyalty to an organization (Hadowell, 1996). His research illustrates the "relationship of profitability to customer related outcomes that managers can influence directly" (Hadowell, 1996). His findings support the hypothesis that customer satisfaction influences customer loyalty increasing profitability. Hadowell addresses two difficulties that he encountered during his research. First, work with the organization in order to develop the ideal measurement system used for the research. Secondly, focus on data collected over a period of time with strong organizations (Hadowell, 1996). In the White Page Series, researcher Burke Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about Crime Crime In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms....show more content... Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A misdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses. Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Relationships and Interactions in Biology Essay Biology essay – Relationships and interactions There are many different types of relationships and interactions between organisms. Every organism is in some way connected or associated with another. Some organisms need to depend on other organisms to survive which shows how important some of these relationships or interactions can be in biology. Interaction is a vital part of how many organisms develop over time. Predation is a main example of a relationship between organisms. Predation involves predators and prey, such as a fox catching and eating a rabbit. There are two other forms of predation called, parasitism and grazing. Parasitism is where the host organism is exploited and used for benefit by the other organism called a...show more content... Lichens are another example of mutualism. Lichens are formed by algae and fungi living together and they both help each other. Algae can photosynthesise and make food, which is shared by the fungus. The fungus in turn shelters the algae from a harsh climate. Commensalism is when one species can benefit from a relationship and not hurt the other. There are four different main types; chemical, inquilinism, metabiosis and phoresy. Chemical commensalism is most often observed between bacteria. It involves the species of one bacteria feeding on the chemicals produced or the waste products of the other bacteria. Inquilinism involves one species using the body of another organism as a platform or living space while the host does not benefit or is harmed. Metabiosis occurs when one species unintentionally creates a home for another species through one of its normal life activities. A phoresy takes place when one organism attaches to another organism specifically for the purpose of gaining transportation. An example of commensalism (inquilinism) is barnacles and whales. Barnacles are non–moving and they rely on currents to bring them food. Some barnacles attach themselves to whales in order to help them live. They can benefit as they are then transported over the ocean which exposes them to more feeding oppurtunities. The whale neither benefits or is harmed by the barnacles. Competition is a huge Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Types of Rocks Types of Rocks Geologists classify rocks in three groups, according to the major Earth processes that formed them. The three rock groups are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Anyone who wishes to collect rocks should become familiar with the characteristics of these three rock groups. Knowing how a geologist classifies rocks is important if you want to transform a random group of rock specimens into a true collection. Igneous rocks are formed from melted rock that has cooled and solidified. When rocks are buried deep within the Earth, they melt because of the high pressure and temperature; the molten rock (called magma) can then flow upward or even be erupted from a volcano onto the Earth's surface. When magma cools slowly,...show more content... Scuba divers who have seen mud and shells settling on the floors of lagoons find it easy to understand how sedimentary rocks form. Sometimes sedimentary and igneous rocks are subjected to pressures so intense or heat so high that they are completely changed. They become metamorphic rocks, which form while deeply buried within the Earth's crust. The process of metamorphism does not melt the rocks, but instead transforms them into denser, more compact rocks. New minerals are created either by rearrangement of mineral components or by reactions with fluids that enter the rocks. Some kinds of metamorphic rocks––granite gneiss and biotite schist are two examples––are strongly banded or foliated. (Foliated means the parallel arrangement of certain mineral grains that gives the rock a striped appearance.) Pressure or temperature can even change previously metamorphosed rocks into new types. Rock–forming and rock–destroying processes have been active for billions of years. Today, in the Guadalupe Mountains of western Texas, one can stand on limestone, a sedimentary rock, that was a coral reef in a tropical sea about 250 million years ago. In Vermont's Green Mountains one can see schist, a metamorphic rock, that was once mud in a shallow sea. Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, Calif., which now stands nearly 8,800 feet above sea level, is composed of quartz monzonite, an igneous rock that solidified several thousand feet within the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Different Types of Media Essay The Different Types of Media I think that all different types of media have lots of different influences on society, especially individuals. There is an enormous variety of media including; television, newspapers, radio, magazines, advertisements etc. It seems that the more developed that society gets, the harder it becomes to escape media. One of the most common forms of media is advertisements. Advertisements are not only one of the most common forms of media but also one of the most over–exposed types of media there is. This is because advertisements appear in every single type of other media there is, therefore making advertisements are an essential way for people to 'advertise', or make...show more content... From soaps, like Coronation Street, to documentaries, like a day to remember, there's something for all ages and makes it hard for people not to get infected by this contagious disease. Some people might argue that television is a waste of time that could be better spent or that it displaces the brain of useful information, when in fact these people are mistaken. With televisions powerful documentaries it encourages everyone to take an interest in something and to learn about a passion or maybe teach them how to carry out a dream. Television actually develops and nurtures the mind. Even soaps have a secret hidden agenda of teaching the viewer about topics some people are too scared to talk about or confront. For example a recent storyline in Coronation Street about an emotional violent relationship shows that just because someone doesn't show bruises doesn't mean they aren't in a abusive relationship. Soaps also feature stories of transvestites, child abductions, murders, child neglect etc. putting these on a television screen educates people about everyday things that other people believe shouldn't be discussed. Radio is another form of media, however it's less extreme. Radio generally reaches out to the younger generation with popular radio stations, like Galaxy 102 and Key 103, they feature what is known as popular music, dance and R'n'B. it encourages Get more content on HelpWriting.net

An essay on car is a very interesting thing to do. One can write a lot about a car in an essay. An essay on car mentions the different kinds of cars, its basic utility, different features of car, etc. There are many people who have very vague knowledge about the cars but still are interested in spending money on buying cars. I went to Vassar, where children's book writer Nancy Willard was on faculty. She introduced me to illustrator Barry Moser, and the interview he gave me was the centerpiece of my senior thesis. While I was there, I spent three years as a student assistant in Vassar's lab pre–school, and after graduation found work as an assistant teacher in a Montessori school, teaching 6–9 year olds. That year, I began to write a novel with my father – through the mail. I was in Chicago and he was in New York. We thought it would be a fun way to keep in touch. I wrote a chapter – then he wrote a chapter. We rewrote each other's chapters. And rewrote them again. It took a long time, but eventually that story was published as The Secret Life of Billie's Uncle Myron. Now I write full time (except when parenting) in a beautiful office in Brooklyn, accompanied by two plump and ancient cats –– the models for the dog characters in That New Animal. Here's a picture of my neighborhood, done by Lauren Castillo for our book в†ђ CRITICAL ESSAY Science and Art Essay Throughout the ages science and art have been two different sides of the very same coin. Initially, these two terms were considered to be completely irrelevant and sometimes even as a contraposition to each other. • 10. Different Types of Love Essay "Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love is a growing up." –James A. Baldwin. The author, Baldwin talks about the fact that we assume love starts once you meet that person and it ends when you die, but love is everlasting and is a part of you from the very beginning. In his quote he also says that we will face different types of love, while growing up. Films are made about it, books, songs, and poems are written. Artists draw, paint and sculpt from inspiration of it and people spend their entire lives waiting for it. In dictionaries love is defined as a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection but it is more than just a deep connection. Its more than deep connections...show more content... This is why mother sends out more of a warm fuzzy feeling than the father. Family love is the type of love that every human being encounters throughout his or her lifetime. It's the very first and less painful type of love. Parental love isn't the only part of family love. Sibling love is a big part to. Sibling rivalry starts when the second child is born and the 1st child starts to feel alienated and abandoned. Even though siblings are like archenemies, they have the most caring love. Since they are closer through blood, they have the ability to protect each other and fight for each other. Another main type of love is the love that is felt towards friends. This love is felt less when younger because when you are younger you are accompanied more by parental love and attention. But when grown older, parents become busier that the kid will start creating their own bonds and connections with other children their age. This would start a friendship. After people make new friends they start to become more dependent and more trusting until they feel like they are one person with their friend. Having common interests, similar history, common values, and equality draws people to be together as friends. Psychologically when one friend feels pain the other friend feels it because of the bond created between them. In their mind they have automatically "connected" themselves with that person. But friendship is the hardest to find because you're not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay on Violence Violence is one of the most problematic issues society faces today, and it has been increasing day after day, in the streets of our cities. The most common description of what violence really is can be given as negativity towards something or someone either through physical or verbal actions, which often causes the victim to suffer pain. The different types of violence that exist in our multi–cultural society are out–numbered, but the most evident ones are domestic, gang, sexual, and racial violence. While violence can definitely be reduced, it will never be eliminated due to the nature of humans. Domestic violence, also known as spousal abuse, occurs when a person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control...show more content... On October 24 2000, a news article headline read, "Gang wars 6 Dead". This event had taken place in Etobicoke, and the news article contained sentences like "Six victims in six months" and "calculated executions". It also contained terms like "Bloods" and "Crips". These terms and sentences have officially crossed the border and have become all too familiar in Canadian cities. In order to cut back this outlaw behaviour, we need to educate our youth about the ill effects of gangs, drugs, guns, and should try to persuade them to instead make friends with those who accept you for who you are and use all their time in doing something positive and proactive. As a result of reducing and preventing gang violence, many cities have created special task forces and given schools their own police officers. Sexual violence is another form of violence that has plagued our cities. This crime involves violence that is specifically sexual in nature, to which the victim does not give consent. According to 2005 statistics, 51% of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of sexual violence. 6 out of 10 victims who reported being sexually violated were under 17. These numbers are alarming and scary. It is extremely important to get rid of such sinister crimes in our communities because it robs the victims of their innocence, self–esteem, confidence, and even trust in our society. • 12. Different Types of Energy Essay Energy Paper There are many forms of energy. The types of energy that can affect the toy car are potential energy, kinetic energy, and work of friction. Potential is the energy of an object due to its position. Kinetic energy is the energy due to motion. Friction plays a part because it shows how much energy is needed for the car to move. All these energies are intertwined in the toy car.Potential energy is the energy that is stored in the toy car. When an object is not moving the object has a mass potential of energy. There are also different types of potential energy i.e.: elastic, gravitational, hydroelectric, and chemical (Demlin, 2000–2007). The type of potential energy that affected the toy car was gravitational potential...show more content... Friction allows the car's wheels to spin across the floor without just sliding across the floor. Friction is also present in the gear box of the toy car. Friction is present because the gears have to rotate against each other in order for the toy car to obtain potential energy. The toy car only produces rolling friction, which is present when the wheels rotate against the floor. Rolling also appears in the gearbox. Friction while not energy affects the energy in the toy car in two ways. Friction causes kinetic energy to be lost while the car is moving. Kinetic energy is lost when the wheels rotate against the floor because the wheels are using kinetic energy to move. The energy is then lost when because of rolling friction heat is produced. In a shorter sense the wheels because of friction convert some of the kinetic energy into thermal energy (heat). Energy is also lost when the gears in the gear box rotate against each other.
