Peer Feedback Q1
• If you could improve anything on my Fanzine,
What would it be and why? For example, the
colour schemes, imagery?
• I would change the font because I think that it is
quite hard to read. Possibly make the text a bit
bigger as well.
• Some of the images seem out of place due to
them being stretched out and enlarged, these
look odd on the page and can make the images
hard to see.
Peer Feedback Q2
• What do you like about my Fanzine? (Is there anything
that stuck out for you?) Why?
• I like the conspiracy theory topic because I think they
are interesting so the theory of Elisa Lam is really
interesting and factual. I like the background and the
colour scheme because it gives a more thriller tone.
• I like the theme of the magazine a lot, I think that
making it look like a case file is very interesting and
adds a lot to the fanzine, making all the theories
suggested inside seem very real and also making the
fanzine very unique and memorable.
Peer Feedback. Q3
• If you could, What would you add to my Fanzine
and why?
• Include more pictures so that the fanzine doesn’t
seem to have loads of text and information in it.
Separate the paragraphs with doodles in the
background or other pieces of art work.
• The only thing I would change would be the way
some of the images are used and change some of
the images themselves to fit the page better.
Peer Feedback Review.
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback review?
• I feel that the peer feedback is very helpful, as it gave my insight
into what my target audience wanted, for example my colour
schemes and overall aesthetic were often complimented and my
peers appreciated the vintage imagery I was going for.
• I also agree that my work could have been filled with more images
but this is something I ran out of time doing, And is something I
wish to carry on for next time.
• What did you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• There wasn’t too much in which I disagreed with. However I agree
with that I might need to adjust the spacing of my work I will try
add these improvements over time, overall the peer feed back was
very constructive and helpful.
Type of Content.
• I also wanted to find legitimate images for all of my conspiracies as I felt this was important to make
my ‘secret file’ look more professional so I researched images for these following case and can be
seen throughout my mood board, for example the images of aliens/reptiles could be easily related
to the my third conspiracy ‘Lizard People aka Reptilians’ I selected these images as I liked how they
had been edited on Photoshop or I selected them as I liked the original image, as I felt I could edit
them in a way to make them my own.
• I also found images to my final conspiracy, ‘The Spontaneous Human combustion of Mary Reeser”.
The images I found instantly stuck out to me as I felt they work very well to my genre of fanzine
(Horror/Thriller) as they are very graphic and scary, which will interest the fans of this genre.
• After finding images that I could actually place in my fanzine, I wanted to look for images that
would inspire me on how I would want the design and layout of my fanzine would look, I knew I
want to use a ‘secret file’ so I looked for this, I found a few images, for example I liked the first
image as it looked realistic and I feel is something I could recreate myself. I also found an image of
old tape, I thought this would be good to add to the fact file imagery, perhaps to attach images to
my fact file, I also looked for ‘textured’ paper, this again I thought I could use for my own work, to
keep things interesting and advance my skills in Photoshop.
• I also used images of polaroid’s as I also thought this would be another useful way to make my
fanzine and interesting.
I tried to gain the same level of detail for each of my topics, this was important so that my work
stretched out over my fanzine equally, if not done so I might have lost my organized pagination and
therfore ruined my fanzine.
Type of content/Research.
• After completing my colour scheme style sheets I wanted to move on to looking at
existing double page spreads I did this because I wanted to have clear examples on
how I might want my own double page spreads to look like. I looked on different
types magazine websites such a vogue, Harper bazaar, Cosmopolitan for
inspiration and picked out my favourites based on colour schemes and images. I
analysed these accordingly. The reason why I picked my first existing double page
spread was because the first being is that I found it to be a very girly. I found that
the colour scheme of pink, white, and nudes conveyed a feminine Mise En
Scene and something I could certainly see applying to my own production. I also
noted that within my own colour schemes I had reference to different shades of
pink and disgust how this worked in a chic way. Another reason why I liked this
particular double page spread, is the actual images themselves, the reason being is
that I found that they are applicable to my production. I could use ‘infinity cave’ in
the college studio and photograph the models and the cosmetics/makeup. For my
second DPS in my production, I wanted to use darker, more neutral colours, to add
something a little different for my production. For example in the first existing
product, I like how the background layer, had an almost animalistic look.
Colour Schemes
• To create these colour schemes I used Color.Adobe.com. The reasoning for this was that I wanted to
use a professional software to help me develop as I would find it struggle to develop to make my
own colours that went well together, I could adjust the saturation, different shades of one colour, to
match each other.
• The first colour scheme I wanted to use dark shades of green, I felt this could be used in in
diagrams, such as timelines, annotation on images, or old documents on newspaper clippings etc. I
could use handwritten type fonts as seen in my font mood boards. I liked the use of dark colors as
these colours match the mood and tone of my work. I doubt I will use every colour on my schemes
as I want to keep the colours in my work as minimal as possible to ensure the audience isn’t
destracted from the main content of my work.
• For my colour schemes I used color.adobe.com. The reasoning for this was that I found that I could
place an image with colours I liked and select certain elements of the picture to include in my
colour bar. I wanted to ensure that my colour schemes had a bright eye-catching colours to attract
my target audiences attention, however I wanted to ensure that they had slight differences so that I
could select which colour bar I preferred the most. I tried to make the two different slides as
different as possible toeach other. For example the first set of colour schemes I wanted them to
have bright, fun, girly colours. Whereas the second slide I wanted to have neutrals so contrast my
previous colour schemes. Intend to make sure that whatever colour scheme I use I will try to mix
the colour within my images, title, taglines and fonts. So that I get a wide range of colour yet they
all work. So that my production appeals to all of my target audience
My colour scheme research
(comparing the differences)
Photography/Images research.
Within my first mood board I only wanted to
include Images I feel would fit to my Idea of
conspiracies, to start with I wanted to find
archival images related to some of cases I
wanted use for example I found images for the
first theory, ‘The Bizarre Death of Elisa Lam’ for
this I found a number of images from the last
time this victim was seen in an elevator I felt that
these images were perfect for my fanzine as
they’re legitimate images from the conspiracy
and also helps keep the audience
scarred/interested as the images are scary. They
also could easily be manipulated on Photoshop
to add my own spin.
Font Choices
• For my first style sheet I looked at existing products. For my production I wanted to look at existing fonts for
makeup brands and fashion and beauty magazines. I found this important to do as the fonts used within these
existing products are tried and tested to appeal to my target audience which is from the wide range of ages
10-30. The actual fonts themselves had many different types of font, and styles, I tried to explore many
different fonts among the products to see which ones appealed to me personally and my own test. I thought
this added a little more detail to my Pre production proforma.
• This is what some of these existing products look like; Merdeka’- The reason why I picked this font because I
felt it stuck out to me as a good font to use for the front cover of my fanzine. The blank colour in each
individual letter indicated to me that I could add colour in each letter when I had decided upon my colour
scheme, and then base the rest of my images, codes and conventions needed to complete a front cover of a
fanzine. However I feel that this particular font would not be suitable for the content of my fanzine, as it may
become difficult to read.
• ‘Uncle typewriter’- This font appealed to me as I could picture this easily in my fact file, this appeals to the
aesthetic of my idea, the old style type writer font is something you would see in in this genre of fanzine, and
also is a lot easier to read with a lot of content, However this is something I would not put as a front cover title
as it is not captivating enough. I also liked how the font had looked like it had smudged this, gives my fanzine
look vintage.
• ‘Through the night’- Again this is inspired by an old style type writer, However I felt this particular font was a
lot clearer to read, as its size is slightly larger, this is I font I preferred the most out of the two. I also thought I
could add colour at different parts of my fanzine. For example in uses of a timeline.

Fanzine evaluation complete

  • 2. Peer Feedback Q1 • If you could improve anything on my Fanzine, What would it be and why? For example, the colour schemes, imagery? • I would change the font because I think that it is quite hard to read. Possibly make the text a bit bigger as well. • Some of the images seem out of place due to them being stretched out and enlarged, these look odd on the page and can make the images hard to see.
  • 3. Peer Feedback Q2 • What do you like about my Fanzine? (Is there anything that stuck out for you?) Why? • I like the conspiracy theory topic because I think they are interesting so the theory of Elisa Lam is really interesting and factual. I like the background and the colour scheme because it gives a more thriller tone. • I like the theme of the magazine a lot, I think that making it look like a case file is very interesting and adds a lot to the fanzine, making all the theories suggested inside seem very real and also making the fanzine very unique and memorable.
  • 4. Peer Feedback. Q3 • If you could, What would you add to my Fanzine and why? • Include more pictures so that the fanzine doesn’t seem to have loads of text and information in it. Separate the paragraphs with doodles in the background or other pieces of art work. • The only thing I would change would be the way some of the images are used and change some of the images themselves to fit the page better.
  • 5. Peer Feedback Review. • What do you agree with from your peer feedback review? • I feel that the peer feedback is very helpful, as it gave my insight into what my target audience wanted, for example my colour schemes and overall aesthetic were often complimented and my peers appreciated the vintage imagery I was going for. • I also agree that my work could have been filled with more images but this is something I ran out of time doing, And is something I wish to carry on for next time. • What did you disagree with from your peer feedback? • There wasn’t too much in which I disagreed with. However I agree with that I might need to adjust the spacing of my work I will try add these improvements over time, overall the peer feed back was very constructive and helpful.
  • 6. Type of Content. • I also wanted to find legitimate images for all of my conspiracies as I felt this was important to make my ‘secret file’ look more professional so I researched images for these following case and can be seen throughout my mood board, for example the images of aliens/reptiles could be easily related to the my third conspiracy ‘Lizard People aka Reptilians’ I selected these images as I liked how they had been edited on Photoshop or I selected them as I liked the original image, as I felt I could edit them in a way to make them my own. • I also found images to my final conspiracy, ‘The Spontaneous Human combustion of Mary Reeser”. The images I found instantly stuck out to me as I felt they work very well to my genre of fanzine (Horror/Thriller) as they are very graphic and scary, which will interest the fans of this genre. • After finding images that I could actually place in my fanzine, I wanted to look for images that would inspire me on how I would want the design and layout of my fanzine would look, I knew I want to use a ‘secret file’ so I looked for this, I found a few images, for example I liked the first image as it looked realistic and I feel is something I could recreate myself. I also found an image of old tape, I thought this would be good to add to the fact file imagery, perhaps to attach images to my fact file, I also looked for ‘textured’ paper, this again I thought I could use for my own work, to keep things interesting and advance my skills in Photoshop. • I also used images of polaroid’s as I also thought this would be another useful way to make my fanzine and interesting. I tried to gain the same level of detail for each of my topics, this was important so that my work stretched out over my fanzine equally, if not done so I might have lost my organized pagination and therfore ruined my fanzine.
  • 7. Type of content/Research. • After completing my colour scheme style sheets I wanted to move on to looking at existing double page spreads I did this because I wanted to have clear examples on how I might want my own double page spreads to look like. I looked on different types magazine websites such a vogue, Harper bazaar, Cosmopolitan for inspiration and picked out my favourites based on colour schemes and images. I analysed these accordingly. The reason why I picked my first existing double page spread was because the first being is that I found it to be a very girly. I found that the colour scheme of pink, white, and nudes conveyed a feminine Mise En Scene and something I could certainly see applying to my own production. I also noted that within my own colour schemes I had reference to different shades of pink and disgust how this worked in a chic way. Another reason why I liked this particular double page spread, is the actual images themselves, the reason being is that I found that they are applicable to my production. I could use ‘infinity cave’ in the college studio and photograph the models and the cosmetics/makeup. For my second DPS in my production, I wanted to use darker, more neutral colours, to add something a little different for my production. For example in the first existing product, I like how the background layer, had an almost animalistic look.
  • 8. Colour Schemes • To create these colour schemes I used Color.Adobe.com. The reasoning for this was that I wanted to use a professional software to help me develop as I would find it struggle to develop to make my own colours that went well together, I could adjust the saturation, different shades of one colour, to match each other. • The first colour scheme I wanted to use dark shades of green, I felt this could be used in in diagrams, such as timelines, annotation on images, or old documents on newspaper clippings etc. I could use handwritten type fonts as seen in my font mood boards. I liked the use of dark colors as these colours match the mood and tone of my work. I doubt I will use every colour on my schemes as I want to keep the colours in my work as minimal as possible to ensure the audience isn’t destracted from the main content of my work. • For my colour schemes I used color.adobe.com. The reasoning for this was that I found that I could place an image with colours I liked and select certain elements of the picture to include in my colour bar. I wanted to ensure that my colour schemes had a bright eye-catching colours to attract my target audiences attention, however I wanted to ensure that they had slight differences so that I could select which colour bar I preferred the most. I tried to make the two different slides as different as possible toeach other. For example the first set of colour schemes I wanted them to have bright, fun, girly colours. Whereas the second slide I wanted to have neutrals so contrast my previous colour schemes. Intend to make sure that whatever colour scheme I use I will try to mix the colour within my images, title, taglines and fonts. So that I get a wide range of colour yet they all work. So that my production appeals to all of my target audience
  • 9. My colour scheme research (comparing the differences)
  • 10. Photography/Images research. Within my first mood board I only wanted to include Images I feel would fit to my Idea of conspiracies, to start with I wanted to find archival images related to some of cases I wanted use for example I found images for the first theory, ‘The Bizarre Death of Elisa Lam’ for this I found a number of images from the last time this victim was seen in an elevator I felt that these images were perfect for my fanzine as they’re legitimate images from the conspiracy and also helps keep the audience scarred/interested as the images are scary. They also could easily be manipulated on Photoshop to add my own spin.
  • 11. Font Choices • For my first style sheet I looked at existing products. For my production I wanted to look at existing fonts for makeup brands and fashion and beauty magazines. I found this important to do as the fonts used within these existing products are tried and tested to appeal to my target audience which is from the wide range of ages 10-30. The actual fonts themselves had many different types of font, and styles, I tried to explore many different fonts among the products to see which ones appealed to me personally and my own test. I thought this added a little more detail to my Pre production proforma. • This is what some of these existing products look like; Merdeka’- The reason why I picked this font because I felt it stuck out to me as a good font to use for the front cover of my fanzine. The blank colour in each individual letter indicated to me that I could add colour in each letter when I had decided upon my colour scheme, and then base the rest of my images, codes and conventions needed to complete a front cover of a fanzine. However I feel that this particular font would not be suitable for the content of my fanzine, as it may become difficult to read. • ‘Uncle typewriter’- This font appealed to me as I could picture this easily in my fact file, this appeals to the aesthetic of my idea, the old style type writer font is something you would see in in this genre of fanzine, and also is a lot easier to read with a lot of content, However this is something I would not put as a front cover title as it is not captivating enough. I also liked how the font had looked like it had smudged this, gives my fanzine look vintage. • ‘Through the night’- Again this is inspired by an old style type writer, However I felt this particular font was a lot clearer to read, as its size is slightly larger, this is I font I preferred the most out of the two. I also thought I could add colour at different parts of my fanzine. For example in uses of a timeline.
