Family Structure Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Family Structure" can present both challenges and rewards. The
difficulty lies in navigating the complex and diverse nature of family dynamics, which can vary
significantly across cultures, societies, and individual experiences. Crafting a comprehensive
essay requires thorough research, critical thinking, and the ability to address various perspectives
on family structures.
One challenge is the vastness of the topic. Family structures encompass a wide range of setups,
from traditional nuclear families to non-traditional arrangements such as single-parent
households, blended families, and same-sex families. Analyzing the impact of these structures on
individuals and society as a whole involves delving into sociological, psychological, and
anthropological perspectives.
Another aspect that adds complexity is the evolving nature of family structures over time.
Societal norms and values influence how families are defined and function, and these norms can
change across generations. Addressing historical shifts and societal influences on family
dynamics requires a nuanced understanding of cultural contexts.
Furthermore, the emotional aspect of family life introduces a layer of complexity. The
interconnectedness of family members and the dynamics of relationships can be challenging to
capture in a coherent essay. Balancing objectivity with empathy and understanding is crucial to
presenting a comprehensive and unbiased view of the topic.
Despite these challenges, exploring the intricacies of family structures provides an opportunity
for personal growth and intellectual engagement. The rewards come in the form of a deeper
understanding of human relationships, societal structures, and the factors that shape our lives.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Family Structure" demands a careful and thoughtful
approach. Navigating the complexities of this topic requires a well-rounded understanding of
sociology, psychology, history, and cultural studies. It is a task that, when approached with
diligence and empathy, can yield a rich and insightful exploration of one of the fundamental
units of human society.

Will Keith Kellogg s Life
Will Keith Kellogg come into the world on April 7,1860 in Battle Creek Michigan.
John and Ann Kellogg believed that hard work and being kind to people was the
best way of life. When Willie was old enough to walk, he helped his mother work
in the garden and do the laundry. At the age of 7 Willie started to work at his
father s broom company in the afternoons and weekends. His parents thought that
with the money he earned Will should buy his own clothes. During the day he went
to school. Will was shy and did not have many friends. His teachers thought he was
dumb but really he could not see the blackboard because he needed glasses, which
he later got when he was 13. His parents did not care much about his grades as long
as he was working hard and doing his best.
At the age of 13 Will was a tall skinny young man. He quit school and became a full
time brooms salesmen for his father s company. He enjoyed traveling by train and
was fascinated by this new way of traveling. In 1878, George King asked Will to
come and work as a salesman for his broom company in Dallas, Texas. Will was
bored in Battle Creek and wanted adventure. So he took the job and moved to
Dallas, Texas. After a year, Will quit with Mr. King because he was a bad business
owner and he missed his girlfriend Ella Davis. That summer ... Show more content on

The Sanitarium was a place for ill to receive unusually treatments that were thought

the finances for his brother. He was not very happy with his job, but he kept at it
though John did not pay him much. Will barely had enough to put food on the
table for his wife and children. He tried his best to be a good father, but with the
hours John wanted him to do, he got up early before the kids and came home late
after supper. Sometimes John would push him to work over the weekends to Will s

II was a pivotal moment in U.S history for men and women of all colors. Years of
hatred and violence were now going to be over looked by racial groups in order to
fight against an overseas enemy. Racial groups contributed to the war effort
despite having their civil rights violated, oppressed and even removed.
Segregation during this period of war was very much alive for these racial groups.
Factories full of a specific color worked long hours with little pay, usually women.

All these were obstacles that needed to be overcome. Leaders from all four racial
groups would fight the war back home against the U.S government, while Soldiers
from all four racial groups fought the war overseas. The man power that these
racial groups brought to the table was a key factor in eventually helping the allies
win the war and back home the government noticed how valuable this was. Racial
tensions would eventually be less of a problem because the more time white men
spent with a racial group of people the more they felt at ease with racial integration.
The Native American Fighting Spirit Native Americans played a big role during
World War II. They either enlisted voluntarily or worked at the many war plants
(The Role of Native Americans, 2013). Unlike the Indian removal act of 1830, this
large scale removal of Indians was by choice. It signified that the Native Americans
would change their culture in order to support the war effort. On the home front
Native Americans participated in many projects that directly supported the war
overseas. For example an estimated 2,500 Navajos participated in the construction of
the Ft. Wingate Ordnance Depot in New Mexico (The Role of Native Americans,
2013). While many Native Americans decided to stay in the reservations where
poverty was common, others took advantage of the war time
Design Documentation On Web Based Information Systems

Heraldry is one of the art professions studies that entail creation, granting and arms
blazoning. This is a protocol that questions rules of ranking and it is executed by an
officer of arms. The word Blazon entails description and use of formal heraldry
language that necessitates comprehension when governing word order blazoning
over complex coat of arms(Louda Maclagan, 1999: 20 23). The main purpose of this
case scenario is to create a Heraldryapplication as well as system documentation that
will help the company to keep track Blazon armorial Records and allowing them to
be searched online.
1.1.2.Stakeholders analysis As far as Heraldry is taken into account, it is good to
note that heraldry has its predecessors that accounts to stakeholders. In this aspect,
the stakeholder s analysis can be taken based on the various conjectures and in
relation to heraldic arms. However, design documentation on web based information
systems will be highly articulated based on the Heraldry E R design and analysis,
relationship management methodology that defines entities. To some extend the
documentation will further analyse definition based on how resources on web will
be accessed, used and who will be updating and maintains the system attributes. As
the fate of stakeholders is taken into consideration, E R analysis leads to a scenario
analysis that identifies the potential users, the web resources needed and these
resources are used by the users. It is good to understand that
Analysis Of The Lady Of Shalott
In the story by Alfred Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott the story is about a fairy who
is isolated from the outside world in a tower. In a mythical and fairytale like setting,
the author uses imagery and the Lady Shalott s character to explain the underlying
message to his readers. The message of this story is the importance of one s identity
seen in the world. The author explains this aspect through the isolation of Lady
Shalott to show that love and affection is needed to enhance this identity. We as
readers are introduced early on to whom Lady Shalott really is and what her
environment is like. The author describes the island of Shalott dividing Lady
Shalott s world of her tower on one side of the river and another area of land on the
other; the river keeping these areas apart. The author emphasizes that the Lady of
Shalott is unknown to society by stating, But who hath seen her wave her hand?
Thus, we can see that the Lady of Shalott is isolated in a tower being basically
nonexistent to others. Through looking outside her window, she can see some
shadows. Lady Shalott states, I am half sick of shadows to emphasize to the reader
that she enjoys seeing someone else, however, haven t been physically interacted
with one before. These aspects of the Lady of Shalott s environment are crucial
and impactful to this aspect of loneliness on identity. Tennyson states that the Lady
of Shalott is a fairy who weaves webs during her time in the tower. The author uses
this mythical character of a fairy due to their stereotypes. Such include a very
dainty and sometimes ditsy fairytale like creature. The ideas of being ditsy can
come from the fairies in Sleeping Beauty. The author uses this dainty and ditsy
character to show the Lady of Shalott being unaware of the outside world because of
her isolation. The author also mentions that the Lady of Shalott has an unknown
curse put upon her. Without going into much detail, the author states how this curse
is unknown to herself. This curse could possibly be an aspect of her own self.
Because of Lady Shalott s isolation, she is unaware of what the outside world is like.
Thus, her mindset up this curse upon herself is due to unknown aspects of life. Going

Waffle Now Case Analysis
I can understand both of the arguments presented in these two passages. On one
side, we have regular workers trying to establish a stable and reliable source of
income, one that they can use to provide for themselves. On the other side we have a
business that has to keep the customers, employees, and it s own needs in mind. After
considering the information supporting each of these sides, I have come to a position
that falls somewhere in the middle.
I think that Waffle Now should definitely raise their employees wages, atleast by a
little bit. In the first sentence of paragraph three in letter two, Kelley DeGuzman
states that the federal non tipped minimum wage is more than three times higher than
the tipped minimum wage. This is a ridiculous difference when you consider that
amount for tipped minimum wage is expected to be met or almost met by tips alone.
It puts a big portion of the employees expected minimum wage at the mercy of
everday customers. You can never be one hundred percent sure if a customer will
tip or not, even if you did provide excellent service. This is because there are various
different factors that go into a customer s decision on how much to tip, if at all. These
factors include the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree that that would not be beneficial to the employees or restaurant s best
interest. However, like I said before, I do believe that the wages should be raised to
meet somewhere in the middle. Letter two explains why it wouldn t be good to raise
the wages by three times, but I don t see why the restaurant cant meet somewhere in
the middle. For example they could raise menu prices a little bit, not a drastic
amount, and maybe shorten shifts a little bit, raising overall wages by atleast a little
Anthem s Previous Strategy Analysis
Anthem s previous strategy, which focused on cost leadership, was supported by
numerous factors including their high brand recognition through the Blue Cross Blue

g. These numbers represent measured values. Add the numbers together and report
your answer to the correct number of significant figures. 3g + 1.9g + 3.8g = 9g (1

following manner. Add 3 g and 1.9 g, reporting this sum to the correct number of
significant figures. Next, take the number from the first step and add it to 3.8 g,
reporting this sum to the correct number of significant figures. 3 + 1.9g = 5g ( 1

answers from performing the addition in the two distinct ways presented in parts a
and b. Does one of the answers represent a better way of reporting the results of the
addition? If your answer is yes, explain why your choice is better. Part a represents
better way since if u are doing the part b, you may need to round up the sums each

The Uncanny, A Freudian Term, By Sigmund Freud
The uncanny , a Freudian term, is used to describe a situation or feeling that feels
familiar and foreign at the same time. Through the writings and ideas of Ernst
Jentech, and Sigmund Freud, it is defined. Between them the uncanny is described as
...intellectual uncertainty; so that the uncanny would always, as it were, be
something one does not know one s way about in. The better oriented in his
environment a person is, the less readily will he get the impression of something
uncanny in regard to the objects and events in it. In Freud s essay he states that the
uncanny is that class of the terrifying which leads back to something long known to
us, once very familiar . Being part of the terrifying, the uncanny is undefinable as...

as he explores extreme differences that we as human beings experience and relate

participating in Nauman s work. The uncanny and the abject are two words that
could be used when talking about and experiencing some of Bruce Nauman s

maybe we try not to. His video works tend to be focused on the body as a material

gender and race and therefore only revealing the bodies truths in this uncanny action
of poking oneself in the eye. The video itself is a little irritating and unsettling to
watch, as we can only imagine this action being performed on our ourselves but it is
amplified by the slowed down time of the video and its

Stonehaven Case Analysis Essay
Stonehaven, Inc.
Case Analysis

Part A
For this part of the analysis, consider each department in the Gdansk factory in
isolation. Assume that the rest of the production system has no impact on the
department you are considering. Assume that material handling times are negligible
and ignore variability in processing times.
1. For the typical 100 pair batch, what is the daily capacity and manufacturing lead
time within each of the following departments?
a. Cutting
8 hrs/day x 60 min/hr = 480 min/day
Machine 1 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.25 x 4) = 41 min/batch
Machine 2 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.00 x 4) = 40 min/batch
Machine 3 = (0.04 x 4)(100) + (4.00 x 4) = 32 min/batch
Manufacturing Lead Time (MLT)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the time given is the time it takes to stamp 1 of the 4 components on one
machine. Another assumption I have made is the workers performing the stitching
are all equally paced. It takes each worker the exact same amount of time to perform
their duties and pass the product along to the next group.
Part B
Now consider the factory as a system, and take into account interactions between the
departments.
3. Assuming production is done in 100 pair batches, what is the factory s daily
capacity?
Cutting 41 min/batch
Stitching 133 min/batch
Lasting 33.2 min/batch
Capacity of the Factory = 480 min/day Г· 133 min/batch = 3.6 batches/day
4. What is the total MLT for a 100 pair batch?
MLT
Cutting= 41 min/batch
Kitting= 10 min/batch
Stitching= 133 min/batch
Steaming= 6 hrs x 60 min = 360 min/batch
Lasting= 33.2 min/batch
TOTAL MLT= 577.2 min/batch
Part C
5. How would you go about deciding the appropriate batch size for the Stonehaven
factory? What factors would you consider? How do they interrelate? (You may wish
to do some calculations, but concentrate on thinking conceptually.)
6. Focus only on your highest priorities for improving the production process at
Stonehaven s Gdansk factory (be specific). Explain why they are important. What
actions do you recommend? How would you implement your recommendations?
What do you predict will be the consequences?

Essay about Heritage by Countee Cullen
Analysis on Heritage This poem is titled Heritage and is by Countee Cullen (for
Harold Jackman). The social issue that motivated Cullen to write Heritage is the
oppression that blacks faced and their eagerness to go back to the place that their
ancestors were taken from. In the poem Cullen reflects the urge to reclaim the
African arts, during this time, the Harlem Renaissance, blacks called this movement
negritude. Cullen depicts the negro speaking on the view of Africa, by the all
negroes. In the poem, Cullen uses auditory imagery, organic imagery, and visual
imagery. Cullen uses auditory imagery to draw his readers in to hear what he hears.

Then in lines 1 10, Cullen begins to help us visualize what Africa looks like
through the eye of the negro. He goes to the scenery of Africa by referring to it as
the copper sun and scarlet sea. In this allusion, he is describing the reflection of the
sun on the water. The negro also spoke about the people of Africa. Strong bronzed
men, or regal black women from whose loins I sprang when the birds of Eden sang.
Women from whose loins I sprang, he s talking about the queens of Africa. Strong
bronzed men referred to the men who looked like himself during this time, and
...one three centuries removed, referred to the slave trade. The negro definitely
takes the reader on tour of Africa to see, hear and feel everything that he did. In
conclusion, the poem was used as a key to unlock some of the thoughts the negro
had concerning Africa. The negro in this poem was a representative of all negroes
during this time; their thoughts and the their feelings toward Africa. Cullen s usage
of the literary devices allow for an effective expression of the meaning of this
poem. Poems are intensified language of experience, so the devices assured the
connection of the reader to the poem and the experience. This applies to many
issues in society today because as beautiful as our country is there are still dark
clouds that cover the very essence of what the states once stood
Aerospace Engineering Research Papers
Ever since I was younger, I have always had an interest in the insides of pens and
I would take pens apart just to put them back together. When I recently found out
that putting pens back together was not the normal idea of fun for children, I
realized that I am supposed to be an engineer. In addition to this, I also have a love
for math and science. The specific type of engineering that I am currently interested in
is aerospace engineering, which is because I have an interest in planes and rockets,
and because airports happen to be my favorite places.

The Importance Of The Female Egg For Reproduction
Abstract From Aristotle and Plato studying animals. To 1653 William Harvey

Leeuwenhoek in 1678 used the microscope to identify sperm as a seed. Elizabeth
Osgood Goodrich Willard came up with the term sexology and opened to the
research to understand sex in a whole new level. In this paper we will learn about a
couple different sexologist and how they did the research on sex. Keywords:
Havelock Ellis, Kurt Freund, Richard von Krafft Ebing, Masters Johnson 1897
Havelock Ellis reflected his view of gays and lesbians as having an inside out, or
inverted pattern of erotic attraction. Ellis had a desire to investigate the nature of
sex. He needed to have a physiological understanding of humanity before he turned
his attention to the psychology. Ellis was determined then to become a physician.
Despite his training Ellis never made the practice of his medical training central to
his professional life (Bering, 2013). One of this sexologist s most important
contributions was his clarifying that homosexuality is a psychological orientation,
not simply a random sex act or behavior involving the same sex. He didn t
personally believe that gay and lesbians were perverts, but he used this term to
convey how religious moralist wrongly saw homosexuals and other deviants as
deliberately going against what is right, since for hundreds of years before it ever
connoted anything sexual, pervert was an epithet

attention of the physician.
Fill In Appointments / EHR
Patients who would like to be seen before their scheduled appointment will be kept on
a list maintained by the receptionist. If an appointment is cancelled on short notice
the receptionist will contact the patients on this list to fill the opening.
Late Patients
Employees are to check with the physician if a patient is more than twenty (20)

Becoming A Graduate Degree At The Ohio State University
People have a hard time figuring out what they were meant to do in life, leading to
numerous jobs before they settle on one. Sometimes these struggles to find what
they are meant to do, lead people to completely changing career fields. I believed
that my purpose in life, as I entered college, was to help lead the young people of
today. While finishing up my bachelors degree in Elementary and Middle Childhood
Studies at The Ohio State University, I knew that I wanted to continue my education
and obtain a masters degree. Throughout my entire undergrad, I spent timeas a varsity
football assistant coach. That feeling of wanting to lead along with my coaching
experience influenced me to pursue a graduate degree through a program deeply
rooted in leadership.
With the amount of broken homes and divorce rate at an all time high, kids do not
look to their parents for guidance anymore, instead they look at celebrities. Younger
generations have always been easily influenced by what they see in society. If they
see someone popular on tv doing something or wearing something, they have to do
their best to mimic it. Nowadays the things that our young people are seeing are
leading to negative consequences in their life. They make choices based on what
they see instead of the values that their parents should have been teaching them.
Once those choices do not workout, those same kids look for someone to blame

The Success of Judaism Essay
Judaism has survived throughout history by being flexible and by admitting foreign
influences into its practice. Its success in the 21st century depends on its ability to
continue doing this in response to the pressures of modernity.
Judaism has endured the challenges imposed upon it, by its ability to preserve deep
rooted traditions of the past. It is through maintaining customs from preceding times
that defines the foundations of modern day Jewish practice, be it through observance,
prayer or habit. In combination to this, its capacity to be versatile and incorporate

It is through the participation of such traditions that identifies Jewish practice.
Judaism has continued to exist through the desire to maintain tradition through
historical descent. As Jacob Neusner states, the Judaic religious tradition is shaped by
the historical life of the Jewish people therefore indicating how elements of Jewish
historical significance have acted in forming and strengthening an attachment to the
faith. This is evident when referring to various periods such as the destruction of the
second Temple and the Holocaust. The destruction of the Temple led Jews to
consolidate their beliefs through the emergence of Rabbinic Judaism and the tragedy
of the Holocaust has stood for and continues to stand for an attachment to the faith.
Poll after poll of American Jews in the 1990s found that the Holocaust surpassed
Israel, Judaism, or any other factor as the basis of the Jewish Identity. Such moments
of historical significance represent an increased strength of faith in times of adversity.
In combination to the preservation of tradition to explain the survival of the faith, it
is also evident that its continuing presence is determined through its ability to subject
itself to change through time. This is evident through the emergence of various
strands of Judaism that emerged after Jews were emancipated in Europe. As revealed
through the surfacing of Reform Judaism with its popularity, in nineteenth century
Germany, the religion has survived through

Americans of their lawful rights. For example, in the case of women or Black
Americans and their right to vote and to own property. The slaves and their freedom
right deprived by the Founding Fathers. Despite the fact that, Thomas Jeffersonand
his counterparts signed the Declaration of Independence, they still own slaves.

Plus, if the printhead requires any cleaning, the printer s self diagnostic and self

New equipment meets customer demand
Within IGE s 175,500 square foot facility, the company has two 10 foot assembly
lines to package two bowls of cheese dip into a double pack chipboard box. The
individual bowls of cheese shipped from the Berner facility were already coded
with the freshness date. Then IGE used the Videojet 1510 printer to place identical
freshness dates on the chipboard packaging. Since each bowl displays a freshness
date, the chipboard packaging must display both dates, requiring two lines of code if
the dates are different on each bowl. The dates needed to be visible on the box
because they are used to track the cheese dip throughout the supply chain, and to
indicate the expiration date to the consumer.
Initially, we switched our single Videojet printer to different lines to keep up with the
demand created by the two packaging assignments, Miller says. The printer is
compact and convenient to move, so when we used one printer to accommodate both
lines, changeover took only three or four minutes which is really important to
eliminate downtime. Eventually, we decided to get a second Videojet printer so we
could run both the single and double packaging projects simultaneously.

Comparative Analysis of Salesforce.com and Oracle Corporation Introduction
Enterprise software is in the midst of a series of disruptive innovations that are
fundamentally changing the economics of how software is purchased, customized
and used by organizations globally today. The dynamics defined by Dr. Clayton
Christensen in The Innovator s Dilemma are in full force in enterprise software,
completely re ordering the economic, legal, social and political factors of the
industry. These same dynamics are fundamentally redefining how enterprise
companies respond as well. Salesforce.com is a company which has been able to
make full advantage of the creative destruction in The Innovator s Dilemma, while
Oracle is constrained in the traditional enterprise software model of relying on
maintenance revenue. These two companies anchor the continuum of competition
that The Innovator s Dilemma defines and together serve as the foundation of this
analysis. Analysis of Salesforce.com versus Oracle: A Study of Extremes Both
Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) and Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) are publically held,
which makes researching the specifics of their business models, strategies and
operations possible given their filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) and extensive reporting each do in their annual reports. As both are competing
in the enterprise software market, they have comparable frameworks, systems,

First Heart Transplants
1 FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT PAPER God planted in every single human the
desire to live, and knowing that, men have searched for so many ways to live a
longer life. Knowing so many humans were dying because of their heart not
functioning well and looking at others die with a perfectly healthy heart gave
humans a great idea! The idea of saving people s life through a heart transplant,
something never on earth heard of but worth giving a try. The research of a finding a
way to give a heart transplant to many people with heart diseases had begun. From the
late 1700s until the early 1900s, many different scientist began gathering all types of
information. Surgeons back then would transplant organs in the lab research, and
many of those transplants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was in December that Lewis Washkansky was given more life by a group of
surgeons. The face of Washkansky showed how proud he was after the surgery. I

people with their life giving techniques. 2 FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT PAPER
Unfortunately, like any other subject there had to be more improvements in the
transplant surgery. After the surgery, Lewis was prescribed medications to restrain
his immune system and keep his body from rejecting the heart. Sadly after eighteen
days of the surgery Lewis Washkansky passed away. Doctors say his heart
functioned really well until the day he died. Lewis Washkansky gave surgeons the
motivation to keep working on heart transplants because they were successful!
Nowadays, doctors, scientist, all of us are searching for a way to live a longer or
fulfilled life. We have heart transplants successfully functioning thanks to many
scientist who worked hard to look over every small detail to come up with a
perfect heart transplant. To this day humans keep searching for ways to make other

terrifying, many will see this as morbid but I see this a story as explaining why
parents tell us never to never do this challenge. This story is explaining why our
parents say not to do this challenge known as the Bloody Mary . This urban legend
is one of my favorites, it is very paranormal and that is something I would like to
study one day. Bloody mary was a beautiful woman who was in a car accident in the
1700s. She spent hours a day looking at herself in the mirror. One day she was in a
severe car wreck, after this wreck she wasn t able to look at herself in the mirror,
even the kids at school could not look at her. One night she was done thinking

Some Journeys were more difficult than others. However, the common keywords
between all of them are the hard work and determination. Coca Cola Co. s
PowerAde started its campaign Just a kid in the beginning of last year. PowerAde
has used inspirational stories of professional athlete, who used to have a very hard
start and they made their path into fame and success, to deliver a message to
everyone that no one has chosen his start but we all can decide our termination. The
newest powered commercial tells the story of Seattle Seahawk football player
Jimmy Graham, who had a very tough upbringing in a group house in North
Carolina to a superstar in the NFL. This paper is going to analyze that commercial
and dive inside it to get deep meaning and catch the subtle message beyond its scenes.
One of the meanings of this commercial is demonstrating the notion of the American
dream. The mythical believe that anyone can start from the bottom and by continuing
hard work, he can achieve his goal and attain wealth and possible fame. This
meaning has been shown at the beginning of the commercial when it is opened on
Jimmy Graham as a boyenters the Goldsboro community orphanage in North
Carolina where he has been beaten up and bullied by other older boys. While that
happens, the narrator was telling the story of a mouse who fell in a bucket of cream.
He tried to survive, but because the cream was thick he
Paragraph On Corruption In Bangladesh
Corruption The term corruption is not new to Bangladesh. We all know that
Bangladesh is one of the most corrupted country in the world (BBC NEWS,18
OCT, 2005). Bangladesh is the five time s top listed corrupted country in the world
published by transparency international (Bangladesh tops most corrupt list, 2005)
The corruption in Bangladesh is uneffortdable, unacceptable and treatable (Ahmed,

function like a circle in the country. It can be said that corruption is in part of our

Perfect Island Objection by Anselm of Canterbury
Due to the preconceptions I have concerning Anselm s Ontological Argument, as
learnt through course research and lectures. I will like Descartes in his First
Meditation , put these preconceptions to one side and present an essay that explores
both sides of the argument in an attempt to reach an independent conclusion.
However, I hope to reach the same conclusion as I had before that is, that the
Ontological Argumentcan be refuted on the basis that there exists a fundamental
dissimilarity between the concept of existencein our minds, and that of existence in
reality. This essay will present two objections to Anselm s Ontological argument,
namely, the Perfect Island Objection and the Existence is not a Predicate objection,
whilst... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But this is not to say that they exist as things other than whatever it is that physically
constitutes that person s thoughts, so perhaps we can grant Anselm s argument
soundness so far.
Anselm now notices that there is a contradiction between his definition of God,
and the assumption that God does not exist. If his definition of God demands
absolute, unlimited greatness, then a God who does not exist in realty could be
said to be inferior to a God that does indeed exist in reality. In our imagining of a
God that exists both in our understanding and in reality, we are imagining a being of
which its greatness supersedes our first conception of a non existing God. Thus,
according to Anselm s argument, our previous assumption that God does not exist in
reality must in fact be false. Therefore Anselm concludes that God must exist in
reality, because if this was not the case, we would be imagining a being greater than
the greatest possible being we could imagine a contradiction no less. So where do the
weaknesses in the Ontological argument lie?
The first main objection I will raise is what most Philosophers refer to as the perfect
island objection , a version first formally proposed by the 11th century French monk,
Gaunilo, in which he named the Lost Island refutation. This objection attempts to use
the same form as Anselm s reductio argument, only with the aim of proving the
existence of a perfect island, rather than
12 Years a Slave movie-analysis Essay
12 Years a Slave
The movie В«12 Years a slaveВ» is based on the book В«12 Years a SlaveВ» by
Soloman Northup. It s his life story of how he got lured in a trap and kidnapped in
1841. It s about how he was sold into slavery in the south, and what happened during
those 12 years a slave .
The movie was released in 2013, but the book was first published in 1853. The
setting of the movie was in the US, mostly in the states New York and Louisiana.
The film was directed by Steve McQueen, he s also known for directing the movies
В«HungerВ»(2008) and В«ShameВ»(2011).

He and others are then put on a boat to Louisiana where they re sold. Soloman is
sold to a plantation owner for 1000$, and is sent with him to his home. He works
there for quite a while, but there s a conflict between him and one of the
В«MastersВ» there, which makes him have to leave to another plantation to work.
There s a lot of complications, and he s in the middle of a lot of it. He meets different
persons, and one of them is the savior to his 12 year lasting hell. There is a man who
helps free Soloman from slavery, who helps him become a free man again.
The movie takes up a lot of subjects. One obvious is slavery. There is also
discrimination of women and human trafficking.
When one of the plantation owners talk down to his wife, and treats her like she has
nothing to say about stuff, it shows how he thinks of her as less than himself. He
discriminates her infront of the slaves.
Human trafficking is because that s what they ve did when they kidnapped Soloman
and brought him somewhere else to sell him as a slave.
The plot is not presented in a chonological way. It starts off with him as a slave, and
then it goes back to how he actually became one.

How to Find a Great Acupuncture Physician in Miami FL
When you have been in pain and need an alternative method to help you relieve your

Once you think you learn enough about him give him a quick call yourself to set up
an appointment. I suggest you call him yourself to get a feel of how you connect
with him. Don t forget you will be revealing personal information about illnesses, so
getting a good vibe would be great.
The facility where the acupuncturist administers treatment is also very important.
Acupuncture Miami facilities can vary from place to place. From the run down to
the exuberant. My advice is to choose a spot where you can feel relax as the
acupuncture works best in this type of environment. I also suggest that the place
looks very clean and professional we are talking about needles here.
The next thing you should ask is the pricing since the pricing varies from city to city.
The reason behind the different pricing comes from the amount of experience they
have and type of acupuncture they practice. Ask them if the prices vary from the
initial session to the recurring

The Low Power Optimization Techniques
Introduction The low power optimization techniques are very crucial for next
generation wireless communication and battery powered signal processing
applications. Several low power optimization techniques at circuit level and device
level were implemented in past two decades to achieve low power Very Large
Scale Integration (VLSI) designs. However the continuously growing low power
demand motivates researchers to evolve even low power designs. The architecture
level low power optimization is possible for signal processing and the
communication applications considering the dynamically fluctuating signal value.
1.1 Static Vs Dynamic Power The amount of energy consumed per operation and the
heat dissipated by the circuit are determined by the power consumption of a design.
A great number of critical design decisions, like the battery lifetime, supply line
sizing, power supply capacity, packing and cooling requirements are being influenced
by the above factors. Power dissipation is an important property of a design that
affects feasibility, cost, and reliability. However, the number of circuits that can be
integrated onto a single chip, and how fast they are allowed to switch are determined
by their high performance computing, power consumption limits and the heat
removal system (Jan M. Rabaey). In present era of increasing mobile computing
applications, for the amount of energy stored in battery, the achievable number of
computations directly depend on power consumption of

made. In addition, performance measurement must be instrumental in the growth.
The symphony has an opportunity to hire new top quality talent to take their

explore other performers around the world. Furthermore, with the symphony s
reputation, it should draw in new performers. Perhaps a look at the current salaries

Financial and Leadership Recommendations;
Anne Ewers must take the following key steps to address above stated financial
weaknesses. She needs to reduce the overall expenses as it relates to the profit; the
percentage of profit is less than one percent of the total expenses. The symphony
should increase profits by increasing ticket prices. In order for Anne to increase the
profitability from $116,000 to $500,000 annually, she needs to increase their number
of performances and make the musicians earn more of their salaries. Furthermore, the
symphony can expand the music selection to include other cultures and communities
that are appealing and invites new customers. Anne needs to solicit feedback from
patrons that attend the opera as well as potential customers. She needs to find out
what they would like, what would bring them back and invite friends and family.

Rhetorical Devices In Cathedral By Raymond Carver
It is easy to judge individuals based on our crooked misconceptions. Sight is a
useless physiological sense if one is unable to view/perceive things on a deep,
meaningful level. Due to this, individuals tend to allow other relationships to trigger
personal insecurities within. One must be capable to share a vision with others to
achieve enlightenment and self awareness. In Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the
author utilizes various rhetorical devices to convey the importance of perceptionand
sight.
In the narrative, the author writes the story in first person point of view through an
unnamed narrator which enables the reader to visualize, experience, and perceive a
deeper insight into his mind. The story commences with the narrator speaking
directly to the audience appearing closed off and narrow minded. His wife has an
old friend named Robert, who happens to be blind, coming to spend the night.
Right away, the reader can sense how the narrator comes off as self absorbed. He`s
only concerned about how Robert s visit will affect him and is inconsiderate about
the strong bond Robert and his wife have built over the years. The narrator also
lacks self awareness when he found himself thinking what a pitiful life this woman
must have led. (Carver 3) The woman being Beulah, Robert`s recently deceased
wife, who the narrator belittled as she married a blind man and now she could never
see herself as she was seen in the eyes of her loved one. (Carver 3) Not realizing that

The Space Race Continuity And Change
Walking, that s the original mode of transportation. The only things that could be
moved are the things that can be carried and the furthest part of the world was the
furthest part a human could walk to. Then came sailboats and wheels and the
world was drastically changed forever. Everything changed. No one could walk on
water so sailboats were the first things used to travel the rest of the world. There
was more land and more water than anyone man could walk to. Sailboats helped
with that. When someone arrives in those places how is he or she supposed to carry
everything? That is when the wheel became so important. People had carriages and
wagons and animals to pull those things which are on wheels. The entire world

During the late 50s and early 60s the United States was falling behind in this race,
but it wasn t over. The next task was to be able to send groups of people into space
together on one ship. This initiated the Voskhod and Gemini programs, Voskhod in
the Soviet Union and Gemini in the United States. In the Soviets case there was
not much changed from the Vostok craft except for the fact that they could fit 2 or
3 people on the craft. The Soviet Union only did two manned flights with the
Voskhod program and left it; one flight in 64 and one in 65. The United States had
completely changed from their original Mercury program though. It had a new
design and the new design retained the conical, nickel alloy walls and fiberglass
ablative heat shield of Mercury, it also made use of new features such as
translations control thrusters to alter orbit, hydrogen/oxygen fuel cells to generate
electricity, a radar system to allow rendezvous with other craft, and avionics that
could withstand depressurization (Universe Today). These missions whether one
manned or not all helped paved the way to the final lap in the race to space. The
United States and the Soviet Union each wanted to be the first to put a man on the
moon; thus the start of the Soyuz and Apollo programs. For the UNITED States
and NASA the Apollo missions started in 1961, but the first flight was in 1967
after they concluded with all the Gemini missions. The first ever Apollo flight
ended in tragedy with an electrical fire starting and the capsule was destroyed
killing the three people on board of the spacecraft. Many unmanned trials went about
until finally the second manned trial by NASA in December 1968 with the Apollo 8
flight. Unlike Apollo 1, Apollo 8 was a huge
Cowboys s Code Of Chivalry
The first military order of knights came into being in the year 1099. Cowboys
began to take shape in the years following the civil war. Cowboys traveled out west
in search of work, while the knights were part of their own distinct social class.
Even though the time periods are almost 750 years apart these two completely
different individuals are not so different after all. They both protected their lands
from invaders, whether they were other knights or Native Americans, they both had
their own portrayed code of chivalry, and they each had similar jobs.
During the years knights were around they were the main military force. They served
under a king or other noble lords and they would fight other knights or foreign
invaders seeking to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the knights this code was known as chivalry. There was not an official code of
chivalry, but was a moral system understood by all. The knights code of chivalry as
described by the Duke of Burgundy consists of twelve words as follow, Faith,
Charity, Justice, Sagacity, Prudence, Temperance, Resolution, Truth, Liberality,
Diligence, Hope, and Valor ( Knights Code ). The same is true for the cowboys as
well. Their rule of conduct was not official, but was understood by all. It focused
on Hospitality, Fair play, Loyalty, and respect for the land ( Code of the West ).
This also included showing respect for the opposite sex no matter where either of
these warriors happened to be. Both of these warriors had their own codes of
conduct for duels as well. A duel was an arranged engagement in combat between
two individuals, with matched weapons in accordance with agreed upon rules (
Duel ). In the Code Duello there are 25 steps that can be taken to resolve the issues
(Tyndall). Cowboys would enter duels over land disputes, money, and even women.
The same was done for knights of the middle ages as well. It was also a part of their
unwritten code of chivalry that they Never refuse a challenge from an equal (
Knights Code ).These aspects of chivalrous actions also bonds the two time periods

Are Dogs Like To Herd Research Paper
Why Do Dogs Like To Herd?
The dog s herding instinct is his innate craving to group animals together. In
multiple dig breeds their herding instinct is so strong tat they may try to herd
shadows, children and goldfish1! Many farmers rely on their dog s herding instincts
when it comes to livestock. They need the dogs to move the animals from one place
to another, protect them from predators, and to keep all the members of the flock
together and prevent straying. Some farmers spend time training their dogs to herd
animals. However, if they are training their dog they are only helping the dog herd
the animals in the specific ways they want him to, or teaching the dog how to
respond to the different whistles they may give. The dog already know how to
herd. The main cause of a dog s herding instinct is selective breeding that occurs
over the years. All dogs are natrually predators who are decended from the wolf.
When a wolf gets food, he must first eye the prey, then stalk it, then chase it. Then he
grabs the prey, shakes it, and bites it on the neck, killing it2. Then he eats it and
guards the remains. When dogs herd, they eye the sheep, stalk them, chase them, ...

works so well with people. The Icelandic Sheepdog is also very good since it has a
strong desire to please its owners. On the other hand, the Bull Terrier does a good
job herding sheep as it is nippy and fearless. Blue Cattle Dogs are bossy and
Austraillian Shepherds are pushy. Theese not so nice traits help the dogs get the
animals moving right away and respect the dog. Some other dogs have other
attributes that are helpful for herding. For instance, the Welsh Corgi is quick and low
to the ground, the Tatra Shepherd Dog is highly protective, and the German Shepherd

Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to initiate and explore three
different polymer reactions. One was an addition polymer reaction which used a

The reaction that is develops Nylon 6,6 is done in two phases. The amine (1 6
hexanediamine) in dissolved in water, and diacid chloride (adipropyl chloride) is
dissolved in an organic solvent (sodium hydroxide solution). The two solutions are
immiscible which creates an interface between the two phases, the interface is
where the adipropyl chloride and a diamine meet each other, this is where
polymerization occurs. (Nikyl et al, 2012) Bakelite, like Nylon 6, 6, is formed
through condensation polymerization which is caused by the reaction phenol, acetic
acid and, formaldehyde. There is a specific pattern that occurs when the polymer
forms this pattern is referred to as a cross linked polymer. It is one gigantic 3
dimensional structure that is highly rigid compared to linear polymers. (Alger, 1997)
Conclusion Through the mixing of compounds and the use of a boiling technique
three different polymers were formed. Polystyrene was formed by additional
polymerization. The other two were formed through condensation polymerization, the
difference being that Bakelite had a cross linked design occur in the polymerization
process, whereas nylon 6, 6 did not.

important, all patriot group that would do anything for freedom. One of the Sons of
Liberty s greatest protest was the Boston Tea Party. This act showed the government
that they would do anything, even dump $1,700,000 worth of tea into the harbor for
freedom. As a result of the Boston Tea Party the Coercive or Intolerable Acts were
passed. These acts were to punish the colonies for their rebellious behavior and stop
more of these protests.
The Group
The Sons of Liberty were the people responsible for the Boston Tea Party. They
were a secret underground rebellion against the British during the colonial time.
The group was founded by John Hancock and Samuel Adams in 1765 in New York.
The Sons of Liberty were not just responsible for the Boston Tea Party they also
were responsible for the Boycott of British Goods in 1765 and much more. The
group was made up of shopkeepers, artisans, artist, lawyers, and normal colonists.
The group would organize when and how to protest. The group had only 33
Factors Influencing Labor Productivity On Building...
Chapter 1: Introduction
Need of the project
Productivity in construction is broadly outlined as output per labor hour. Labor
Productivity in any construction project is units of work placed or produced per
labor hour, which directly influences the total project cost, completion time period
and project quality. Hence, it is very crucial for us to have in detail information of the
factors which positively or negatively influences the productivity so that we can take
required action to mitigate the negative effects and reinforce the positive effects.
Moreover, aluminum formwork is the dynamic evolution the construction industry
which has been adopted for advanced construction in various segments, hence its
productivity is of utmost important for its complete acceptance in the industry. This
research will focus on determining the factors which changes the output given by the
laborers working with aluminum formwork. This will help in enhancing the physical
progress of the project by applying the tool or remedy subjected to a particular factor.
Project Objective
The aim of this analysis is to identify factors influencing labor productivity in building
construction with attention on formwork operations and to understand its variations
attributable in direct impact on labor productivity. This research focuses on
determining the relationship between various attributes which effect labor
productivity by collecting real time responses from job site. It is to be done by taking
The Themes Of Family In The Movie The Intouchables
Ohana means family . Family means noone gets left behind , is the famous quote
from Lilo and Stitch that perfectly portrays the movie The Intouchables. The theme
family is shown many times in the movie The Intouchables. It is first seen when a
man, named Driss, is hired to care for a paralyzed man and they develop a bond that
cannot be broken. It is also seen between Driss and his step brother. Although these
are the main portrayals of family, it is also seen with Driss and his coworkers. The
previous relationships mentioned show family in a different way. The people in
those relationships are not blood related yet still manage to treat each other like
family. Being treated like family is respecting one another, taking care of each other,
and never losing touch no matter how busy life gets. With that being said, family
does not always mean being immediate family. In the Intouchables, family is a
common theme found in multiple points of the movie.
The theme family is first shown when Driss first gets hired to work and take care
of Philippe. They get along so easily that their bond forms quickly. They adapted to
one another s personalities so they can joke about one another without someone
getting hurt. The first example of their humor is when Driss asks, Where do you
find a paraplegic , where Philippe then replies, I don t know . Driss finishes by
joking, Where you leave him . This is just the beginning of the blossoming
relationship between these two. The fact that Driss did not get fired from this
sketchy joke indicates that Philippe is started to take a liking to Driss. He realizes
that Driss does not make Philippe s handicappedness a roadblock, but rather finds
ways to use that and have fun with it. Since Philippe cannot feel anything from the
waist and down, Driss has a little fun asking questions like, So if you have red ears,
it means you re turned on? which leads Philippe to respond with That s it.
Sometimes I even wake up with hard lobes . They both end up laughing and the
audience is able to see the progression of their bond. They are so happy hanging out
with one another. Just like in a family, you can get irritated with each other, but never
tired of one another. Finally, these two men
Environmental Issues In South Africa Essay
Introduction
Africa is the world s second largest and most populated continent after Asia. With 1.0
billion people as of 2009 accounting for about 14.72% of the entire human population.
Africa suffers from many environmental problems including deforestation, oil
pollution, air pollution, and land and water pollution. This issues is as a result of new
technologies leading to an increase in solid mineral mining, oil exploration, an
increase in the number of plants and factories, and on the whole increase in the
application of manufacturing tools. Consequently, the quality and richness of
terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments have been polluted and has declined.
Other factors contributing to Africa environmental issues are rapid ... Show more

This has led to at the 2002 World Summit on sustainable Development (WSSD) which
was held in South Africa, the causes of water pollution were cited as: oil transmission
through shipping ports, poor water resources management, absence of effective
regional and basin development plans, and underestimation of the groundwater
potential to supplement irrigation and drinking water supplies.
To put the African environmental problem in proper viewpoint, some major
situations/countries will be looked at in terms of the environmental issue they are
facing at the moment.
1. Energy consumption in sub Saharan Africa varies dominates fuel consumption.
According to reports the use of wood for fuel is predominant in both rural and urban
locations and accounts for approximately 70% of total energy use. This is done by
cutting down trees which raises another environmental issue deforestation. In Sub
Sahara region of Africa, Nigeria consistently leads the commercial energy
consumption. Infact, according to data in 2001, Nigeria consumed 32% of all
energy consumed in the region. Although domestic demand for energy consumption
in sub Saharan Africa is growing rapidly, consumption levels remain well below
world averages. Africa is home to one of the world s largest rain forests. The
The Beveridge Report On The British Welfare State
suggesting that it would be inappropriate for them to desire domestic pursuits in the
place of full time employment. Either way, the categorization of people into separate
and distinct groups, as employed by the Beveridge Report, delegitimizes the
experience of those individuals, both male and female, who do not conform to such
categories. While its influence in shaping the British welfare state cannot be negated,
the Beveridge Report conceals several troubling issues in terms of its treatment of
women, in addition to its tendency to overlook the experience of working women. In
particular, throughout the report women are often depicted as subordinate to and
dependent on men, often in ways that are not immediately apparent. In a section...

This idea was, and remains, damaging for women, as it perhaps even undermined
the self confidence of 1950s women in their ability to provide for themselves or
their families without the aid of a man. Even at the most basic level of language
use, the Beveridge Report is written in such a way that it positions women as
dependent on and subordinate to men. For example, when referred to as a collective,
a couple is described as a man and a wife. This is notable because it immediately
reveals a difference of status between the two parties. While the man is described
using a qualifier of his gender, the woman is described with a qualifier of her legal
status. As such, this implicitly positions the woman as subordinate to the man, as if,
as his wife, she is his legal possession. Moreover, it once again reinforces the
destructive notion that a woman s most notable feature is her status as a housewife.
The report often stresses that a couple must operate as a cohesive unit in order to
ensure the smooth functioning of a household, and yet frequently uses language that
reveals that the partners of such a conjugal relationship were not considered to be
equals. If they were, the report would have employed language such as a husband and
a wife or a man and a woman to suggest that both individuals within a marriage play
an equally importance role within the household, and within society at large. It is
indeed possible that this language use
Comparison To America And In Memory Of My Dear
Grandchild
I chose to read The poems In memory of My Dear grandchild By Anne Bradstreet
and the poem On Being Brought from Africa to America By Phillis Wheatly. I feel
that each of the poems express a genuine belief that a higher power had influences in
their lives.
In The poem In memory of My Dear grandchild By Anne Bradstreet , I feel that it
shows that Bradstreet was saddened and struggling with the loss of her grandchild,
but found peace with her granddaughters death through religion. She is basically
saying that it is not her place to question gods will in regards to fate or what is
supposed to happen in our lives. farewell, dear babe, my heart s too much content

A Comparison Of Paul CГ©zanne And The Large Bathers
Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre (Joy of Life) and Picasso s Les Demoiselles d Avignon,
the two different paintings that are simultaneously seen as inspired by and breaking
free of Paul
CГ©zanne s, The Large Bathers. Let s see more in details why it can be.
The Large Bathers
The Large Bathers is a painting by the French painter Paul CГ©zanne. It is made in
oil on canvas. It measures 210.5 cm tall and 250.8 cm long. It was painted in 1906.
It is located at the
Museum of Art in Philadelphia, United States. It is the largest fabric ever painted by
CГ©zanne, who worked for seven years at the workshop he had at Lauves, and is the
most crafted of the three conclusive judgments of the bather s theme, repeatedly
treated by the painter, from 1870 until his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Matisse went a step further developing a style of greater sensitivity and sincerity.
The big canvas that he called The Joy of Life is actually the announcement of this
style. Although the painting is a synthesis of numerous sketches made by the painter
a year earlier in Collioure, almost the work is not a vision of a holiday scene, but
something conceived: a mythical early paradise where unobtrusive characters in
dance cannons love and generality with nature.
Vibration colors are applied with no trace of distraction, and brush motions are in
search for a pure sensuality of color. The only movement is long running curves of
trees that continue and repeat in the contours of the body. These harmonized rhythms,

the stress of everyday life, which Matisse has since wanted to dedicate to his art.

Les Demoiselles d Avignon
Les Demoiselles d Avignon is a large oil painting from 1907 by Spanish painter Pablo
Picasso (1881 1973). The work portrays five naked prostitutes from a brothel in
AvinyГі,
Barcelona. It is considered the first picture of Cubism.
Picasso painted this painting conceptually in the spirit of the earlier artistic
aspirations of art history, depicting the traditional theme of the female act. Even so,

Salutary Neglect In Colonial England
The definition of Salutary Neglect is an unofficial and long term 17th and 18th
century British policy of avoiding strict enforcement of parliamentary laws meant to
keep American colonies obedient to England. This British policy of Salutary
Neglect was never documented although Britain was strict about it. Salutary
Neglect often is associated with laws regarding trade. It was effected during mainly
the Navigational Acts and the Triangular Trade. It was an unofficial policy that
ensured the colonists stay loyal to England. There were many reasons for the
development and the use of Salutary Neglect. Salutary Neglect also played a major
role in the expansion and development of Colonial America. One of the main reason
of Salutary Neglect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Illegal smuggling became a foundation of triangular trade routed between North
American colonies, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. The illegal smuggling violated
the Navigation Acts which made New England merchants very wealthy. Once again,
there is no official enforcement enforcing the laws. The Mother Country s lack of
enforcement, allowed Colonial America to set its own course of independence.
America formed very independent legislatures who became accustomed to passing
their own laws regarding taxation. Evidently, the colonies economically flourished
under salutary neglect because America traded extensively with other countries
directly and they disobeyed England. Salutary Neglect came to an end in the year
1763. The British actually attempt to reverse the policy of Salutary Neglect by
enforcing the Navigational Acts and imposing new taxes such as the Stamp Act and
the Townshend Acts. This reversal created an infuriation and rage in the colonists.
The British also began taking away the profits of the people through more taxing.
The colonists will begin to protest against the new taxing measures and the Sons of

Master Cat Essay
There are certain elements that can be found in all trickster tales. One of those
common elements is the appearance of gods, spirits or other supernatural beings
such as fairies or trolls. In the three trickster tales that were assigned, gods spirits
and the supernatural are found. In the African trickster tale about how stories
came to be, How Stories Came to Earth, there is a supernatural element in the form
of a god. In this story, the sky god, Nyame lives high up in the sky, where he keeps
all the stories locked in a box for himself. Nyame is portrayed as a typical god,
someone who is powerful and is to be feared. In the tale, Anansi the spider,
attempted to get the stories from the sky god, but had to pay a price. Now Anansi
climbed up hi web to the sky god, Nyame, to ask for the sky god s stories (40). The
sky god, Nyame, is one example of the supernatural in trickster tales. Another example
of the use of the supernatural is found in the tale, Coyote Steals Fire. Coyote, the
main character, was able to read minds, which was a supernatural talent that gave him
advantage, especially when fighting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The supernatural element in this tale is displayed in the form of a character. This
character is the ogere that Master Cat tricked and eventually ate. The ogere, a
mythical creature in the first place, also has the ability to shapeshift, which
classifies as another supernatural element. Master Cat goes to the ogre s castle in
order to gain control of the castle for his owner. In order to do this, he tricks the
ogre into showing off the ogre s shapeshifting abilities. It has been said, the cat stated,
that you have the ability to transform yourself into any animal at all. I m told that you
can, for example, turn yourself into a lion or an elephant (49). The shapeshifting ogre
is another great example of the supernatural elements that are found in trickster

Family Structure Essay. Family structure essay. My Family Structure Essay. 2019-02-24

  • 1. Family Structure Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Family Structure" can present both challenges and rewards. The difficulty lies in navigating the complex and diverse nature of family dynamics, which can vary significantly across cultures, societies, and individual experiences. Crafting a comprehensive essay requires thorough research, critical thinking, and the ability to address various perspectives on family structures. One challenge is the vastness of the topic. Family structures encompass a wide range of setups, from traditional nuclear families to non-traditional arrangements such as single-parent households, blended families, and same-sex families. Analyzing the impact of these structures on individuals and society as a whole involves delving into sociological, psychological, and anthropological perspectives. Another aspect that adds complexity is the evolving nature of family structures over time. Societal norms and values influence how families are defined and function, and these norms can change across generations. Addressing historical shifts and societal influences on family dynamics requires a nuanced understanding of cultural contexts. Furthermore, the emotional aspect of family life introduces a layer of complexity. The interconnectedness of family members and the dynamics of relationships can be challenging to capture in a coherent essay. Balancing objectivity with empathy and understanding is crucial to presenting a comprehensive and unbiased view of the topic. Despite these challenges, exploring the intricacies of family structures provides an opportunity for personal growth and intellectual engagement. The rewards come in the form of a deeper understanding of human relationships, societal structures, and the factors that shape our lives. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Family Structure" demands a careful and thoughtful approach. Navigating the complexities of this topic requires a well-rounded understanding of sociology, psychology, history, and cultural studies. It is a task that, when approached with diligence and empathy, can yield a rich and insightful exploration of one of the fundamental units of human society. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other academic writing tasks, various resources are available, including online platforms likeHelpWriting.net, where expert writers can provide support and guidance. • 2. Will Keith Kellogg s Life Will Keith Kellogg come into the world on April 7,1860 in Battle Creek Michigan. John and Ann Kellogg believed that hard work and being kind to people was the best way of life. When Willie was old enough to walk, he helped his mother work in the garden and do the laundry. At the age of 7 Willie started to work at his father s broom company in the afternoons and weekends. His parents thought that with the money he earned Will should buy his own clothes. During the day he went to school. Will was shy and did not have many friends. His teachers thought he was dumb but really he could not see the blackboard because he needed glasses, which he later got when he was 13. His parents did not care much about his grades as long as he was working hard and doing his best. At the age of 13 Will was a tall skinny young man. He quit school and became a full time brooms salesmen for his father s company. He enjoyed traveling by train and was fascinated by this new way of traveling. In 1878, George King asked Will to come and work as a salesman for his broom company in Dallas, Texas. Will was bored in Battle Creek and wanted adventure. So he took the job and moved to Dallas, Texas. After a year, Will quit with Mr. King because he was a bad business owner and he missed his girlfriend Ella Davis. That summer ... Will s job was to make sure that everything was working and took care of the finances for his brother. He was not very happy with his job, but he kept at it though John did not pay him much. Will barely had enough to put food on the table for his wife and children. He tried his best to be a good father, but with the hours John wanted him to do, he got up early before the kids and came home late after supper. Sometimes John would push him to work over the weekends to Will s
  • 3. Fighting A War At Home And Abroad FIGHTING A WAR AT HOME AND ABROAD OSCAR AGUILAR CYPRESS COLLEGE PROFESSOR JOSE M. ZAMORA May 12, 2015 Introduction World War II was a pivotal moment in U.S history for men and women of all colors. Years of hatred and violence were now going to be over looked by racial groups in order to fight against an overseas enemy. Racial groups contributed to the war effort despite having their civil rights violated, oppressed and even removed. Segregation during this period of war was very much alive for these racial groups. Factories full of a specific color worked long hours with little pay, usually women. The Men of these racial groups who volunteered or where drafted to the war, where put in color specific military units. One of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All these were obstacles that needed to be overcome. Leaders from all four racial groups would fight the war back home against the U.S government, while Soldiers from all four racial groups fought the war overseas. The man power that these racial groups brought to the table was a key factor in eventually helping the allies win the war and back home the government noticed how valuable this was. Racial tensions would eventually be less of a problem because the more time white men spent with a racial group of people the more they felt at ease with racial integration. The Native American Fighting Spirit Native Americans played a big role during World War II. They either enlisted voluntarily or worked at the many war plants (The Role of Native Americans, 2013). Unlike the Indian removal act of 1830, this large scale removal of Indians was by choice. It signified that the Native Americans would change their culture in order to support the war effort. On the home front Native Americans participated in many projects that directly supported the war overseas. For example an estimated 2,500 Navajos participated in the construction of the Ft. Wingate Ordnance Depot in New Mexico (The Role of Native Americans, 2013). While many Native Americans decided to stay in the reservations where poverty was common, others took advantage of the war time
  • 4. Design Documentation On Web Based Information Systems Essay Heraldry is one of the art professions studies that entail creation, granting and arms blazoning. This is a protocol that questions rules of ranking and it is executed by an officer of arms. The word Blazon entails description and use of formal heraldry language that necessitates comprehension when governing word order blazoning over complex coat of arms(Louda Maclagan, 1999: 20 23). The main purpose of this case scenario is to create a Heraldryapplication as well as system documentation that will help the company to keep track Blazon armorial Records and allowing them to be searched online. 1.1.2.Stakeholders analysis As far as Heraldry is taken into account, it is good to note that heraldry has its predecessors that accounts to stakeholders. In this aspect, the stakeholder s analysis can be taken based on the various conjectures and in relation to heraldic arms. However, design documentation on web based information systems will be highly articulated based on the Heraldry E R design and analysis, relationship management methodology that defines entities. To some extend the documentation will further analyse definition based on how resources on web will be accessed, used and who will be updating and maintains the system attributes. As the fate of stakeholders is taken into consideration, E R analysis leads to a scenario analysis that identifies the potential users, the web resources needed and these resources are used by the users. It is good to understand that
  • 5. Analysis Of The Lady Of Shalott In the story by Alfred Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott the story is about a fairy who is isolated from the outside world in a tower. In a mythical and fairytale like setting, the author uses imagery and the Lady Shalott s character to explain the underlying message to his readers. The message of this story is the importance of one s identity seen in the world. The author explains this aspect through the isolation of Lady Shalott to show that love and affection is needed to enhance this identity. We as readers are introduced early on to whom Lady Shalott really is and what her environment is like. The author describes the island of Shalott dividing Lady Shalott s world of her tower on one side of the river and another area of land on the other; the river keeping these areas apart. The author emphasizes that the Lady of Shalott is unknown to society by stating, But who hath seen her wave her hand? Thus, we can see that the Lady of Shalott is isolated in a tower being basically nonexistent to others. Through looking outside her window, she can see some shadows. Lady Shalott states, I am half sick of shadows to emphasize to the reader that she enjoys seeing someone else, however, haven t been physically interacted with one before. These aspects of the Lady of Shalott s environment are crucial and impactful to this aspect of loneliness on identity. Tennyson states that the Lady of Shalott is a fairy who weaves webs during her time in the tower. The author uses this mythical character of a fairy due to their stereotypes. Such include a very dainty and sometimes ditsy fairytale like creature. The ideas of being ditsy can come from the fairies in Sleeping Beauty. The author uses this dainty and ditsy character to show the Lady of Shalott being unaware of the outside world because of her isolation. The author also mentions that the Lady of Shalott has an unknown curse put upon her. Without going into much detail, the author states how this curse is unknown to herself. This curse could possibly be an aspect of her own self. Because of Lady Shalott s isolation, she is unaware of what the outside world is like. Thus, her mindset up this curse upon herself is due to unknown aspects of life. Going further into
  • 6. Waffle Now Case Analysis I can understand both of the arguments presented in these two passages. On one side, we have regular workers trying to establish a stable and reliable source of income, one that they can use to provide for themselves. On the other side we have a business that has to keep the customers, employees, and it s own needs in mind. After considering the information supporting each of these sides, I have come to a position that falls somewhere in the middle. I think that Waffle Now should definitely raise their employees wages, atleast by a little bit. In the first sentence of paragraph three in letter two, Kelley DeGuzman states that the federal non tipped minimum wage is more than three times higher than the tipped minimum wage. This is a ridiculous difference when you consider that amount for tipped minimum wage is expected to be met or almost met by tips alone. It puts a big portion of the employees expected minimum wage at the mercy of everday customers. You can never be one hundred percent sure if a customer will tip or not, even if you did provide excellent service. This is because there are various different factors that go into a customer s decision on how much to tip, if at all. These factors include the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree that that would not be beneficial to the employees or restaurant s best interest. However, like I said before, I do believe that the wages should be raised to meet somewhere in the middle. Letter two explains why it wouldn t be good to raise the wages by three times, but I don t see why the restaurant cant meet somewhere in the middle. For example they could raise menu prices a little bit, not a drastic amount, and maybe shorten shifts a little bit, raising overall wages by atleast a little

  • 8. Physical and Chemical Changes Essay Physical and Chemical Changes Say you are presented with two beakers, beaker A and beaker B, each containing a white, powdery compound. * a. From your initial observations, you suspect that the two beakers contain the same compound. Describe, in general terms, some experiments in a laboratory that you could do to help prove or disprove that the beakers contain the same compound. You may try some of the followings: * Dissolving in water * Dissolving in different chemical solution * Heating both substance to see if they come out with different results * Doing the flame test for both solution to see if they can come out with different results * etc * b. These numbers represent measured values. Add the numbers together and report your answer to the correct number of significant figures. 3g + 1.9g + 3.8g = 9g (1 significant figures) * b. Now perform the addition in a stepwise fashion in the following manner. Add 3 g and 1.9 g, reporting this sum to the correct number of significant figures. Next, take the number from the first step and add it to 3.8 g, reporting this sum to the correct number of significant figures. 3 + 1.9g = 5g ( 1 significant figures) 5g + 3.8g = 9g ( 1 significant figures) * c. Compare your answers from performing the addition in the two distinct ways presented in parts a and b. Does one of the answers represent a better way of reporting the results of the addition? If your answer is yes, explain why your choice is better. Part a represents better way since if u are doing the part b, you may need to round up the sums each time you do the seperated calculation due to the difference of the significant figures of the terms. Rounding up the answers many times may lead to a great change in the final answer. * d. A student performs the calculation (1.7 Г— 5.163 g) + 2.09 g and, being mindful of significant figures, reports an answer of 11 g. Is this the correct answer? If not,
  • 9. The Uncanny, A Freudian Term, By Sigmund Freud The uncanny , a Freudian term, is used to describe a situation or feeling that feels familiar and foreign at the same time. Through the writings and ideas of Ernst Jentech, and Sigmund Freud, it is defined. Between them the uncanny is described as ...intellectual uncertainty; so that the uncanny would always, as it were, be something one does not know one s way about in. The better oriented in his environment a person is, the less readily will he get the impression of something uncanny in regard to the objects and events in it. In Freud s essay he states that the uncanny is that class of the terrifying which leads back to something long known to us, once very familiar . His work generates a flood of mixed emotions as he explores extreme differences that we as human beings experience and relate with, creating a commonality that automatically connects with anyone participating in Nauman s work. The uncanny and the abject are two words that could be used when talking about and experiencing some of Bruce Nauman s works. The unsettling nature of Nauman s work forces us to look at things that maybe we try not to. His video works tend to be focused on the body as a material and the truths which are told from this. In his video, Poke in the Eye/Nose/Ear 3/8 /94 Edit (fig.2), Nauman himself does exactly what the title says. The video is zoomed in on the specific facial feature and projected large onto the wall; it is in slow motion and on loop. By zooming in Nauman eradicates interpretations of gender and race and therefore only revealing the bodies truths in this uncanny action of poking oneself in the eye. The video itself is a little irritating and unsettling to watch, as we can only imagine this action being performed on our ourselves but it is amplified by the slowed down time of the video and its

  • 13. Essay about Heritage by Countee Cullen Analysis on Heritage This poem is titled Heritage and is by Countee Cullen (for Harold Jackman). The social issue that motivated Cullen to write Heritage is the oppression that blacks faced and their eagerness to go back to the place that their ancestors were taken from. In the poem Cullen reflects the urge to reclaim the African arts, during this time, the Harlem Renaissance, blacks called this movement negritude. Cullen depicts the negro speaking on the view of Africa, by the all negroes. In the poem, Cullen uses auditory imagery, organic imagery, and visual imagery. Cullen uses auditory imagery to draw his readers in to hear what he hears. The meaning of this poem is to take the reader on a journey of what the negro felt about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then in lines 1 10, Cullen begins to help us visualize what Africa looks like through the eye of the negro. He goes to the scenery of Africa by referring to it as the copper sun and scarlet sea. In this allusion, he is describing the reflection of the sun on the water. The negro also spoke about the people of Africa. Strong bronzed men, or regal black women from whose loins I sprang when the birds of Eden sang. Women from whose loins I sprang, he s talking about the queens of Africa. Strong bronzed men referred to the men who looked like himself during this time, and ...one three centuries removed, referred to the slave trade. The negro definitely takes the reader on tour of Africa to see, hear and feel everything that he did. In conclusion, the poem was used as a key to unlock some of the thoughts the negro had concerning Africa. The negro in this poem was a representative of all negroes during this time; their thoughts and the their feelings toward Africa. Cullen s usage of the literary devices allow for an effective expression of the meaning of this poem. Poems are intensified language of experience, so the devices assured the connection of the reader to the poem and the experience. This applies to many issues in society today because as beautiful as our country is there are still dark clouds that cover the very essence of what the states once stood

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this is not to say that they exist as things other than whatever it is that physically constitutes that person s thoughts, so perhaps we can grant Anselm s argument soundness so far. Anselm now notices that there is a contradiction between his definition of God, and the assumption that God does not exist. If his definition of God demands absolute, unlimited greatness, then a God who does not exist in realty could be said to be inferior to a God that does indeed exist in reality. In our imagining of a God that exists both in our understanding and in reality, we are imagining a being of which its greatness supersedes our first conception of a non existing God. Thus, according to Anselm s argument, our previous assumption that God does not exist in reality must in fact be false. Therefore Anselm concludes that God must exist in reality, because if this was not the case, we would be imagining a being greater than the greatest possible being we could imagine a contradiction no less. So where do the weaknesses in the Ontological argument lie? The first main objection I will raise is what most Philosophers refer to as the perfect island objection , a version first formally proposed by the 11th century French monk, Gaunilo, in which he named the Lost Island refutation. This objection attempts to use the same form as Anselm s reductio argument, only with the aim of proving the existence of a perfect island, rather than

Sight is a useless physiological sense if one is unable to view/perceive things on a deep, meaningful level. Due to this, individuals tend to allow other relationships to trigger personal insecurities within. One must be capable to share a vision with others to achieve enlightenment and self awareness. In Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the author utilizes various rhetorical devices to convey the importance of perceptionand sight. In the narrative, the author writes the story in first person point of view through an unnamed narrator which enables the reader to visualize, experience, and perceive a deeper insight into his mind. The story commences with the narrator speaking directly to the audience appearing closed off and narrow minded. His wife has an old friend named Robert, who happens to be blind, coming to spend the night. Right away, the reader can sense how the narrator comes off as self absorbed. He`s only concerned about how Robert s visit will affect him and is inconsiderate about the strong bond Robert and his wife have built over the years. The narrator also lacks self awareness when he found himself thinking what a pitiful life this woman must have led. The next task was to be able to send groups of people into space together on one ship. This initiated the Voskhod and Gemini programs, Voskhod in the Soviet Union and Gemini in the United States. In the Soviets case there was not much changed from the Vostok craft except for the fact that they could fit 2 or 3 people on the craft. The Soviet Union only did two manned flights with the Voskhod program and left it; one flight in 64 and one in 65. The United States had completely changed from their original Mercury program though. It had a new design and the new design retained the conical, nickel alloy walls and fiberglass ablative heat shield of Mercury, it also made use of new features such as translations control thrusters to alter orbit, hydrogen/oxygen fuel cells to generate electricity, a radar system to allow rendezvous with other craft, and avionics that could withstand depressurization (Universe Today). These missions whether one manned or not all helped paved the way to the final lap in the race to space. Family means noone gets left behind , is the famous quote from Lilo and Stitch that perfectly portrays the movie The Intouchables. The theme family is shown many times in the movie The Intouchables. It is first seen when a man, named Driss, is hired to care for a paralyzed man and they develop a bond that cannot be broken. It is also seen between Driss and his step brother. Although these are the main portrayals of family, it is also seen with Driss and his coworkers. The previous relationships mentioned show family in a different way. The people in those relationships are not blood related yet still manage to treat each other like family. Being treated like family is respecting one another, taking care of each other, and never losing touch no matter how busy life gets. With that being said, family does not always mean being immediate family. In the Intouchables, family is a common theme found in multiple points of the movie. The theme family is first shown when Driss first gets hired to work and take care of Philippe. They get along so easily that their bond forms quickly. They adapted to one another s personalities so they can joke about one another without someone getting hurt. The first example of their humor is when Driss asks, Where do you find a paraplegic , where Philippe then replies, I don t know . Driss finishes by joking, Where you leave him . This is just the beginning of the blossoming relationship between these two. The fact that Driss did not get fired from this sketchy joke indicates that Philippe is started to take a liking to Driss. He realizes that Driss does not make Philippe s handicappedness a roadblock, but rather finds ways to use that and have fun with it. Since Philippe cannot feel anything from the waist and down, Driss has a little fun asking questions like, So if you have red ears, it means you re turned on? which leads Philippe to respond with That s it. Sometimes I even wake up with hard lobes . They both end up laughing and the audience is able to see the progression of their bond. They are so happy hanging out with one another. Just like in a family, you can get irritated with each other, but never tired of one another. Finally, these two men

This idea was, and remains, damaging for women, as it perhaps even undermined the self confidence of 1950s women in their ability to provide for themselves or their families without the aid of a man. Even at the most basic level of language use, the Beveridge Report is written in such a way that it positions women as dependent on and subordinate to men. For example, when referred to as a collective, a couple is described as a man and a wife. This is notable because it immediately reveals a difference of status between the two parties. While the man is described using a qualifier of his gender, the woman is described with a qualifier of her legal status. As such, this implicitly positions the woman as subordinate to the man, as if, as his wife, she is his legal possession. Moreover, it once again reinforces the destructive notion that a woman s most notable feature is her status as a housewife. The report often stresses that a couple must operate as a cohesive unit in order to ensure the smooth functioning of a household, and yet frequently uses language that reveals that the partners of such a conjugal relationship were not considered to be equals. If they were, the report would have employed language such as a husband and a wife or a man and a woman to suggest that both individuals within a marriage play an equally importance role within the household, and within society at large. It is indeed possible that this language use
