Student Government Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Student Government" can present both challenges and
opportunities for the writer. On one hand, the subject matter is broad and multifaceted, requiring
a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics within student governance, its roles,
responsibilities, and impact on campus life. On the other hand, the challenge lies in presenting a
unique perspective or angle that sets the essay apart from generic narratives.
Researching for such an essay demands diligence in gathering information from various sources,
including school policies, interviews with current or past student government members, and
potentially examining the historical context of the student government's evolution. Analyzing
how student government influences decision-making processes, addresses student concerns, and
contributes to campus initiatives adds another layer of complexity.
Structuring the essay effectively is another hurdle. Balancing the introduction, body, and
conclusion while maintaining coherence and relevance can be challenging, especially when
attempting to cover various aspects of student government within a limited word count.
Moreover, articulating personal experiences or insights into the role of student government, if
required, adds a subjective dimension that may demand introspection and thoughtful expression.
Despite the difficulties, the essay provides an opportunity for the writer to showcase their
understanding of governance structures, critical thinking skills, and capacity to communicate
effectively. It's a chance to highlight the importance of student government in shaping campus
life and fostering a sense of community.
In conclusion, tackling a "Student Government Essay" is no small feat. It requires meticulous
research, thoughtful analysis, and effective communication skills to deliver a compelling and
insightful piece. However, with dedication and a strategic approach, navigating the complexities
of this topic can result in a well-crafted essay that stands out. If you find yourself needing

Analysis Of The Poem Where The Sidewalk Ends
Shel Silverstein is a notable writer, made famous for his poems that were geared
towards children. One of his most famous poems, Where the Sidewalk Ends shares
the title with what may be his most well known book. This poem is a very
meticulously worded work, and although it may be published in a children s book, it
can be understood and very meaningful to older generations. This piece has a depth
and wisdom that may be well beyond the comprehension of young minds, and it can
be interpreted and analyzed in many ways and can reveal a variety of themes. When
first reading this short poem, the initial theme that stands out to me, personally is the
idea of the change that occurs during aging. It seems that the stark contrast between
the imagery of the first stanza, versus the second stanza reveals the dramatic
difference between childhood and adulthood. Childhood can be thought of as more
gentle, airy, and even innocent. The third lineof the first stanza says the grass grows
soft and white... (Silverstein, n.d.). This gives that notion of gentleness, and
innocence associated with childhood. Many think of the color white and associate it
with innocence, maybe because of their religious practices. Religious imagery
sometimes depicts heavenly beings in white robes, possibly surrounded by white
wisps of clouds or white rays of light. The word soft is also associated with
gentleness. Many would imagine the soft grass, and think back to a time in their
childhood on a

grandmother does not even have respect for her own family, comparing Bailey s wife

saddest part about it all is when the Misfit takes the Grandmother into the woods

that she is a true women that the Misfit will not kill her. And then before the Misfit

J. R. R. Tolkien Biography
J.R.R. Tolkien, formally acknowledged as John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, is an author
best known for his Lord of the Ring trilogy and children s book The Hobbit . He
was born on January 3, 1892 in Bloemfontein, South Africa to his English parents,
Mabel and Arthur Tolkien. He was their eldest son and had a younger brother,
Hilary Tolkien. In 1896 when Tolkien was just three, [him and his mother and
brother] paid a visit to his mother s family in England. While there, his father
unexpectedly died from a hemorrhage, leaving the family penniless; so Mabel
decided to remain in Sarehole, England with her family. When he became 12, his
mother died from diabetes in 1904 and the boys were sent to a boarding school in
Birmingham, England under the care of their relative, Father Francis Morgan.... Show

What Are Harriet Tubman s Greatest Achievements
Let s talk about the one and only Harriet Tubman. Harriet was a slave, luckily she
was smart enough to escape, she was 14 when she escaped. Harriet was a brave
woman, she was born in Maryland and people called her Moses because she was a
hero to everyone. She also conducted The Underground Railroad and that is one of
her greatest achievements. Harriet Tubman s greatest achievements, did it involve
time, risk and how many people she saved? Her greatest achievements were being an
Underground Railroad Conductor, Caregiver, Civil War Nurse and a Civil War Spy.
I truly believe that her number one greatest was being a Underground railroad
conductor. Let s start off with talking about her first and her best achievement, which

Not only was she an Underground railroad conductor, but also she was a caregiver.
Harriet loved helping people, she was taking care of poor people of the Civil War that
was her main focus of her life. She also only cared for 6 8 people at a time and she
did that for 48+ years. I feel like this was her second greatest achievement because
she was focusing on helping poor people and she did it for 48+ years! She didn t
worry about herself after all the hard work she still helped everyone. Furthermore,
her third achievement is Harriet being a Civil War nurse. I think this isn t her best
achievement because she has only helped 150 black soldiers on a gunboat raid in
South Carolina, not going to lie it is a lot of people, but in the Underground
Railroad she helped at least 300 people. When people were sick and some died from
dysentery, Tubman really believed she could find a cure. How you may ask? Late
at night she searched the woods for lilies and cranesbill (geranium) and she boiled
the lily roots and the herbs and she gave it to a man and guess what? He

The World Series is a big event that happens in MLB every year at the end of the
season to see who is the best team in the MLB. The World Series began in the year
of 1903 and it has been going on until present time. The New York Yankees were a
great team throughout the 1998 season. They had a great winning record the a
MLB team could ever have; going with a record of 114 wins and 46 six loses in the
regular season. In 1998, the New York Yankees

finally replaced by Donne Wall, who was replaced by Mark Langston who was
replaced by Brian Boehringer who was sadly replaced by Randy Myers. However, no
reliever from the Padres could match with the Yankees starter jeff Nelson and their

As you can see that year was a great year for the New York Yankees. As they won

they had to go through a lot of practice and training. They went through tough teams.

Sexuality in John Donne s The Flea Essay
A Reading of John Donne s The Flea It is common to ascribe to Donne the status of
archetypal logical poet a man whose works are tightly crafted, confident, and
certain in their application of metaphor and analogy. True enough, Donne s poem
seems to suggest a certain self security: we see a tight, predictable rhyme scheme,
and an ordered structure. There is also arguably a wealth of rhetorical resources
Donne does not shy away from using the lexis of the military ( triumph st ), the
medical ( two bloods...mingled ) or even the religious ( cloysterd , sacrilege ). Such
a feature that might be read as hinting at Donne s essential confidence in his ability
to create a unified philosophy, to adapt a wide range of discourses, to... Show more

Such an argument is obviously a contradiction he argues at the same time the flea s
capacity and incapacity to represent the woman and husband. Similarly, he insists
on the essential privacy of sexuality, repeating and emphasising marriage in line
13, by which he figures the domestic space and its objects as defined in primarily
erotic terms. But lines 5 and 6 demand the addressee to consider sexual relations in
primarily public terms sin , shame or maidenhead (that latter word hints as much
as social position head has the same root as the modern suffix hood ), where a flea
is a small, insignificant object that cannot be equated with a sexual union. The
paradox that concludes the poem both uses impersonal, public terms honor more
obviously, though yield also (it suggests a set of broader power relations, and
would be associated somewhat, I would argue, with images of sexual relations in
terms of larger scale social hierarchies). The very slightest charge we could level at
Donne is that he seems tempted to sacrifice logic for rhetorical finesse three sins
for killing three is of course, not true to kill three and commit sacrilege would make
four sins. This is not simple pedantry, but rather I think it alerts us to a prioritisation
of tried and tested stylistics over the logical progression that Donne s tricky
arguments, grounded in points of intellectual studies of his age, asks us to focus on.

Ups On The United Parcel Service
The United Parcel Service delivers millions of packages every single day
throughout the entire world. UPS delivers packages to over 200 countries. It is by
far one of the biggest delivery companies in the world. Two teenagers started the
company in 1907. By 1975, UPS was serving 48 countries in the United States. By
the 1990s, UPS shifted towards a global footprint that has worked tremendously.
UPS has emerged in many different economies; however, UPS has not had as much
market scale, as they have wanted in India. In 2005 and 2008, they formed alliances
with Jet Air and AFL Private Ltd for betteraccess in India. However, UPS has used
more resources in other markets, like China and Malaysia. Therefore, competitors
of UPS will begin to enter India if UPS does not do something soon. Unfortunately,
DHL, one of their competitors, bought an Indian delivery company and it has been
successful. As a result, UPS wants to enter the Indian market with full force, but
many questions will arise to join a market with over a billion people. An external
analysis that can be done on UPS is the PESTEL analysis. From a political
standpoint, UPS has to deal with labor unions. In 1997, they actually had a labor
strike due to pensions and pay. As a result, the company lost over 650 million
dollars due to the strike. In order to have a successful business, the workers have to
be satisfied. Also, there are political implications in doing business in India for the
deliverycompanies because it
Fossil Fuels In The US
Fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas provide the U.S. with over 80 percent
of its energy supply (McNerney Cheek, 2012). Fossil fuels, formed from organic
materials over the course of many centuries, have fueled the global and U.S.
economic development for the past two centuries. Nonetheless, fossil fuels are finite
resources that cause irreversible harm to the environment. Scientists consider them
nonrenewable forms of energy since they take hundreds of years to form. According
to Rand (2010), fossil fuels were responsible for 79 percent of the greenhouse
emissions in 2010. Poor efficiency practices and higher energy demands have
increased the usage of fossil fuels, and it is now important to find substitute means of
generating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy efficiency has a variety of benefits: lowering cost on both household and
economical levels, reducing demand for energy imports, and fewer greenhouse
emissions. Although renewable energy technologies help to accomplish these
objectives of reducing the utilization of fossil fuels, the cheapest, and often most
immediate, is improving energy efficiency. There are considerable opportunities for
improving the efficiency in almost all sectors of the economy, whether it is
transport, energy generation, buildings, or industry. Most typical cars consume
fossil fuels. Choosing alternative forms of transport other than running a personal
car saves on the fossil fuel. Alternative forms of transport in America include train,
subway system, or bus. Moreover, taking public transport does not only save on
fossil fuels but it also allows one to concentrate on other things such as reading.
Additionally, the best way of being independent of fossil fuels is driving less.
Bicycle riding or walking reduces the utilization of fossil fuels; it is cheap, good for
the environmental, and

IV prevalence data is critical for planning and implementation of programmes within
the National Response. The data is useful for understanding the magnitude of the HIV
/ AIDS problem and for monitoring the impact of interventions. Generation of HIV
prevalence data is done using UNAIDS/WHO recommended methods. As in other
countries with generalized HIV epidemics, the estimates of HIV prevalence in Ghana
is primarily based on sentinel surveillance among pregnant women attending
Antenatal Care (ANC) clinics and a national population based survey that includes
HIV testing. It is recognized that both sentinel surveillance and population based
surveys each have strengths and weaknesses but together provide complementary
information. Sentinel surveillance provides samples that are consistent over time so
that good estimates of HIV trends can be obtained. Population based surveys, on the
other hand, provide much better geographic coverage of the

Pokemon Go is a free to play game on iPhone, Android, and other smartphones that
uses location (Google Maps) and data (service) to spawn virtual monsters
(Pokemon) for you to catch. Ever since Pokemon Go released back in July of 2016,
it has caused so much havoc, with deaths and other injuries related to the game
(Miller), that China banned Pokemon Go because of the dangers behind the game,
along side with the threat of China being hacked! (Sun). Pokemon Go should NOT
be banned in China because people are just overreacting, people are getting rid of
weight and their anxiety, and it increases revenues at restaurants that are Pokestops or
Gyms in the game.

still be inside, and some restaurants may or may not be able to stay open, meaning
without Pokemon Go, your favorite restaurant or shops may close down. One
good example is how their is a toy shop in Eugene called The Dancing Weasel, and
it isn t a popular shop, but since it is a Pokestop and has 6 or 7 Pokestops, along
side with Pokegyms next to it, I can guarantee that it has increased in profits. I
mean, hey, I even went in there to see their shop just because they were a

never been more popular than how it was last year. With so many stories about
how Pokemon Go helps with life problems and disorders, if China still bans this
game, it s their loss! So I advise anyone who is reading this to get outside and play

Analysis Of Wally Obermeyer ( Head Of Obermeyer
Question One
Wally Obermeyer (head of Obermeyer, a leading manufacturer of skiwear) wanted
to discover a way of determining the best levels of production in order to make
production commitments for the upcoming 1993 1994 season. So far, predicting
production has been difficult for Wally, as the first more concrete signals of
demand do not appear until Obermeyer participates in a trade shoe in Las Vegas, not
long before production is due to begin. The products also face a short life cycle and
are only ordered once a season. Therefore determining the correct quantities based on
the most accurate estimates of demand are necessary, Furthermore, the company s

Table 1.1 Production quantities in Hong Kong
Question Two
In order to help Wally decide which product lines to manufacture in either Hong Kong
or China, a measure of risk needs to be undertaken for all 10 product lines based on
average forecasted demand.
In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was
conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of
Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line,
due to fluctuations in demand.
The CV for each parka was derived using the following formula: CV = standard
deviation/average forecasted demand. The CVs for each product line can be seen
below in Table 2.1
Table 2.1 Risk assessment for each product line
Lastly, so as to determine which lines had more associated risk, it has been decided
that any line with a CV of under 0.2 was low risk, and therefore less subject to
fluctuations in demand. Those lines are Assault, Seduced, Entice, Electra, and Gail.
Those lines with a CV of over 0.2 were considered high risk. Those product lines
were Daphne, Isis, Anita, Teri and Stephanie.
Question Three
For Wally to decide what product lines to create in which country, he must calculate
the production commitments for the plant in China. The minimum production
requirement for China is 1,200 units per line, double that of the Hong Kong plant. At
the China plant, there is
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Essay
Methods One major method that will be used will be the statistics taken from the
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) provided by the NC
department of health. Also, data will be used for the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation and the Trust for America s Health study, done for the year 2015. Both
of these will give pertinent data on what factors may increase obesity over the
target population. While the method of this surveillance may use the BRFSS,
there can be many more other methods that can be used. In evaluating a financial
project, majority of the times the methods used during the evaluations will be
quantitative, in order to prove financial gain (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). The same
quantitative method can also be used in two different ways within this project. The
first method used for quantitative reporting, would be as the same as Makarova
Sokolva mentioned, which would be using it as a financial indicator of the overall
success of the project (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). As stated earlier, obese
individuals spend about 1,429 dollars more on health care than a normal individual
(Finkelstein, Trodgdon, Cohen Dietz, 2009). If an analyst wanted to take this
quantitative method, they would use the amount of money saved per year, over
the course of an individual s life, as a way to show that the evaluation of a plan was
successful. To further this, if the surveillance saw one person stay below obese for
25 years, this would yield a total savings of around
Female Breasts Essay
Female Breasts
In many works of art throughout history, female breasts have been featured
prominently and in the nude. The symbolic meaning credited to the breast was
usually associated with fertility and nourishment, both spiritual and physical, and in
the wider sense, with life. Eroticism, nourishment, abundance, expression, feminine
power, as well as feminine subservience, are different contradicting themes of the
breast played out in time.
Different reiterating views of its importance and the way it should be displayed are
used to reflect upon the views of women of the time and life in society in general. At
times, it is near worshipped as a sign of sexuality, or as a sign of nourishment. Other
times it is restricted down, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The apodemos, a linen article worn by the Hetaerae, was considered to be the first
brassiere (Silverman, Website). It, however, usually compressed the breasts instead of
accentuating them, reflecting the anti feminine views of the time.
With the rise of Christianity, the breasts and the flesh in general were discouraged
from being exposed. With rounded bellies gaining popularity, the stomach was
considered to be more of an important center of female sexuality (Broby Johansen,
1968, p. 131).
This was modeled after the Virgin Mary whose round belly contained the savior
(Yalom, 1997, p. 40). It wasn t until the fourteenth century and the Renaissance that
this began to change. Explosive creativity and art occurred despite great famine
and disease. As people became more frolicsome, clothing became more revealing.
Such clothing including lowering the neckline to show cleavage (Latteire, 1998,
p. 31). In the seventeenth century, the breasts once again became the center of
female attractiveness over the belly. The breast stood as a symbol of power and
wealth at a time when mercantilism was on the rise in Europe (Latteire, 1998, p.
32). The corset, which was previously used to flatten the breasts, was used to push
in the stomach and push up the breasts (Winston, Website). Louis XIV of France s
personal taste was a factor in this, as he demanded lower necklines for all the court
women. He considered it a sign of respect to

Participant Observation Methods
I found that the participant observation method was the most helpful and easiest
method to use. I was able to talk with the firemen about their experiences and see
how they interacted. I also worked out with them and sat around talking with them.
This method allowed me to get information about their interactions because I could
easily observe them talking amongst themselves and to me. One of the downsides of
this method was that I could not record information as I was observing. Writingdown
what they were saying and what was going on would seem rude and would be hard to
do. I had to wait until leaving the firehouse before recording what happened. This led
to more vague information because of forgetting things. The phenomenological

An Reflective Writing On Behavioral Issues And
Management
Introduction This reflective writing piece focuses on behavioural issues and
management that arose during my first placement at a large, mixed sex secondary
school located in Shropshire. During my time at the school, I have observed a
number of teaching styles and strategies which have enabled me to reflect and
develop my own teaching techniques. The class focussed upon within my report is a
middle set year eight; within this class I have 4 SEN students and an extra teaching
assistant to provide further support. Focus Socrates (469 399 B.C) stated; The
children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show
disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants,
not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room.
They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table,
cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. Since the golden age the misbehaviour
of students have been recognised both within the parental and school environment.
This is still a noticeable issue which has been highlighted further by news reports,
technological advances and government discussions, leading to many prevention
measures being designed and implemented (e.g. Guidance for school staff members
has been provided and published by the government entitled Behaviour and discipline
in schools). Whilst practicing and attending Edge Hill lectures it was evident that

Differences In The Movie Fahrenheit 451
There are many differences between Fahrenheit 451 movie directed by François
Truffaut and the book by Ray Bradbury. In the movie, the sound effects and music
add suspense and curiosity such as when the fire truck is moving there is a
suspenseful music that makes the viewer wonder where the fire truck is heading.
Guy Montag stayed mostly the same, with a few minor differences. The general
idea that Firemen set fires to books stayed the same too. Some noticeable
differences are the changes that occurred to Clarisse. The major character
differences take place with Clarisse, as well as partially Guy Montag. To start,
Clarisse and Mrs. Montag are portrayed by the same actress, confusing the viewer
unaware of which character the actress was portraying.
New York s 30th Congressional District
House Election Paper: New York s 22nd Congressional District In the central New
York farmland that includes Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida counties
and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Tioga and Oswego counties, there is an ugly three
way race for the 22nd congressional district s seat, currently held by progressive
republican Richard Hanna, who is retiring at the end of his current term. A standard
sized district with roughly 720,000 citizens, this rural patch of eight counties and
three universities has been faced with a drastically falling population and an ever
growing absence of jobs. With an 8.4% unemployment rate and a median household
income of only 45,000 dollars, the district that includes hard hit rust belt cities like
Utica and Binghampton has seen population levels decreasing significantly since the
manufacturing industry in New York fell by the wayside decades ago. There are
130,000 registered voters in the district, with 35% being democrats, 38% republicans,
and another 19% independent. A slightly leaning republican voter base now roots
most their careers in farming, and feel the most important issue in their district is
jobs, with second amendment rights and climate change as other hot button issues.
The 22nd district is firmly Trump territory, with the Donald enjoying a double digit
lead over Hillary Clinton. The current congressman, Richard Hanna, is not drinking
the Trump kool aid at all. As one of the most progressive republicans in the House of
Abraham Lincoln s Assassination Of The United States
On April 14, 1865 President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes
Booth while at Ford s Theater. This is a widely known fact but many of the events
leading up to his death are obscure. Why was he assassinated? What was really
supposed to happen that dreadful night? What made the south so mad? How did this
affect the future of the United States? All of these questions have answers, the only
thing you have to do is look.
Let s start by getting to know our late president. Abraham Lincoln, our sixteenth
President of the United States, was elected on November 6, 1860. He only received
40% of the popular vote, none of which was from the South. Lincoln became

bid to help the Confederacy s cause. Although Robert E. Lee s Army of Northern
Virginia had surrendered four days earlier, Booth believed the American Civil War
was not yet finished because Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston s army was
still fighting the Union Army. Of the conspirators, only Booth was completely
successful in carrying out his part of the plot. Booth shot Lincoln once in the back
of the head, and the President died the next morning. Seward was severely
wounded but recovered. Vice President Johnson was never attacked at all.
Following the assassination, Booth fled on horseback to southern Maryland,
eventually making his way to a farm in rural northern Virginia 12 days later, where
he was located. Booth s companion gave himself up, but Booth refused and was
shot by Boston Corbett, a Union soldier, after the barn in which he was hiding was
set ablaze. Eight other conspirators or suspects were tried and convicted, and four

Black Americans Receive A Stricter Punishment Than
White...
Without a doubt, black men in the United States continue to be excessively
incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their
white counterparts (Kerby 2). Portrayals in the media have depicted black men as
thugs and common criminals; these negative stereotypes demoralize men of color
and allow society to believe and internalize this destructive thinking. The racial
disparities that exist in the criminal justice system are an indirect consequence of the
portrayals of African Americanmen that circulate in society. Because of racial
disparities that occur in the United States it consequently threatens communities of
color by disenfranchising thousands by limiting voting rights and denying equal
access to employment, housing, public benefits, and education to millions more
(Kerby 2).
Two professors from the University of British Columbia and the University of
Michigan Law School, M. Marit Rehavi and Sonja B. Starr recently conducted a
study that confirms that Black Americans receive a stricter punishment than White
Americans. According to the study Black Americans receive almost sixty percent
longer prison sentences than white Americans who committed the same crime
(NewsOne 1). Dr. Rehavi and Dr. Starr gathered their data from fifty eight thousand
federal criminal cases and determined that the sentences that Black people received
varied significantly from those given White people (NewsOne 2). Assistant Professor

Seamus Heaney Digging
amp;#8220;Digging ; is about a person looking out of a window at their Father
digging, describing what he/she sees and then the poem goes on to describe what he
/she feels.
I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There
are a number of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one
is in the first line,
amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217;
The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father
and his Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing
his Grandfather. He does this so smoothly that the reader harldy notices the transition
that took place. The second clue is slightly more hidden. The poet ... Show more

That line also paints an image in the readers mind of the spade sinking in and the
scratching/rasping sound it makes. An example of how the author does the same
thing only with the sense touch is, amp;#8216;The coarse boot nestled on the lug,
the shaft Against the inside knee was levered firmly. amp;#8217; In this case the
second line emphasizes the first. It does this by using the words levered and firmly
they make the whole phrase seem more realistic.
However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to
emphasize sight amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap
Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge. amp;#8217;
These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two
onomatopoeic words; squelch and slap. These two words suggest someone moving
through thick soggy mud for some reason it also suggests to me that it was on a cold
day.
In my opinion that line is also quite interesting to read because it paints a clear
picture in my mind amp;#8217;s eye of someone toiling and sloshing around in the
mud. I think this is because the poet uses words like; soggy, curt, cuts and edge.
Since those words are sharp words they make the phrase clearer and sharper in my
mind amp;#8217;s eye.
I think the poet amp;#8217;s attitute to work is that of a perfectionist. I get this
impression because of how picky he is about describing the way his Father and

The British Faced the Blitz with Courage and Unity is a Myth
Use the sources, and your own knowledge. To explain whether you agree with this
statement.
In this question I am asked if I agree or disagree with the statement The impression
that the British faced the blitz with courage and unity is a myth by using the sources
and my own knowledge. I disagree with this statement to a certain extent because
there is many useful sources telling me how well the British people worked together
as a nation against Germany. However there are a few sources that tell me how the
British people were panicking and the government was loosing control of the people.

This shows the whole nation worked together and didn t show any cowardice
towards Germans. The British people had also kept their sense of humour . This
suggest although people were scared of the bombings they had high morale and
attitude. This source obviously disagrees with the statement. However this source is
one sided because it s written to celebrate the blitz. This shows that this source is
biased. They don t tell us about the bombings and peoples deaths. Also it was
written in 1990 fifty years after the war, which tells us there are no facts about the
blitz and is only for memories. This means we cant trust this source to tell us about
the Blitz.
Source B is a picture taken at the time of the blitz dated 21 January 1943, catford
girls school was hit and children were killed. I can infer that many other buildings
were destroyed. This shows 3 ARP wardens showing bravery by picking up dead
bodies of young children in a bombed area. I can infer that the government didn t
deal well with the evacuation of children. APR wardens (air raid precautions) risked
their lives to save others by getting people out of the ruins this shows a lot of
courage. Most of them were volunteers, doing this work on top of their regular. The

Love In Virgil s The Time Machine
The ancient Roman poet, Virgil, once said, Love conquers all. This has been
conveyed in many ways, and many people tend to believe it. The Time Machine is a
classic novel that will relate to all teens by showing them that love will remain even
when everything else is gone. In The Time Machine, the author uses conflict to teach
that even when humans have lost all intelligence and strength, lovewill always
remain. For example, The Time Traveler shows how the Eloiconvey affection when
he says, We passed each other flowers, and she kissed my hands. I did the same to
hers. This means that after The Time Traveler saved an Eloi named Weena s life,
she grew rather fond of him. As a result, her and The Time Traveler became friends.
This evidence proves that even though Weena is lacking in much, she still is able
to convey her love and affection toward The Time Traveler. Additionally, The Time
Traveler states, Weena had been hugely delighted when I began to carry her, but
after a time she desired me to let her down, and ran along by the side of me,
occasionally darting off on either hand to pick flowers to stick in my pockets. This
evidence proves that a lot of the physical strength and knowledge of the Eloi are
gone since it shows that he is having to carry her, and also that she is using his
pockets as vases. Although she doesn t understand that his pockets aren t vases, her
picking flowers still shows her love and affection for The Time Traveler. Clearly, the
Media Violence and Its Effect on Society
Media Violence And Its Effect On Society
Does entertainment influence society s attitude towards violent behavior? In order to
fully answer this question we must first understand what violence is. Violence is the
use of one s powers to inflict mental or physical injury upon another; examples of
this would be rape or murder. Violencein entertainment reaches the public by way of
television, movies, video games, music, and novels.
Violent images on television, as well as in the movies, have inspired people to set
spouses on fire in their beds, lie down in the middle of highways, extort money by
placing bombs in airplanes, rape, steal, murder, and commit numerous other shootings
and assaults. Over 1,000 case studies have proven that media ... Show more content

These children do not understand that the violence is shown strictly because the
public wants to see it. They cannot grasp the meaning of ratings and entertainment
as well as adults can. All they know is, if the TV portrays violence as cool, then it
must be cool! The problem isn t the violence in the media though; it is the media s
failure to show the consequences of violence. This is especially true of cartoons,
toy commercials, and music videos. Children often do not realize that it hurts to hit
someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is
beat up, injured, or killed, only to return in the very next episode, good as new. As a
result, children learn that there are few, if any repercussions for committing violent
acts.
In a recent incident in Norway, two children beat another child by jumping and
kicking the child in the head and other parts of her body numerous times. As a result,
the child died from being left out in the cold because she was not able to move due
to her injuries. Later the officials had discovered that the barbaric incident was due to
the fact that the children had watched the violent cartoon Mighty Morphin Power
Rangers. The children thought that the girl would later get up because in the show
the characters never die. Consequently, the show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
was canceled throughout Norway.

Virginia, Kentucky And District Of Columbia
Introduction
Virginia, whose official name is Commonwealth of Virginia, is one of the thirteen
original states in the United States and used to be the first colonial possession
established in mainland British America. Due to this reason, Virginia is often called
the Old Dominion in many times. According to the history data and statistics, eight
American presidents were born in Virginia, which is more than any other states in the
country. Therefore, Virginia is also known as the Mother of Presidents . With a total
area of 42,774.3 square miles, Virginia is located in the South Atlantic region of the
United States and is bounded by Maryland, North Carolina, State of Tennessee,
Kentucky and District of Columbia.
As an international student, I came to America last summer. It was my first time to
the United States, and Virginia was my first stop. After studying and living in this
beautiful state for nearly half a year, I find that the longer time I live here, the
more I want to know about it. Hence, I choose Virginia as the topic of my CAFR
analysis paper to take a deep look at it. The main purpose of my paper is to discuss
the economy, budget and give an analysis to the overall financial condition of
Virginia. The CAFR is for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015.
CAFR s Quality
Virginia has successfully prepared the CAFR in conformity with the GASB34
requirements. Besides, the CAFR for the fiscal year 2015 has been presented

It is appallingly obvious that technology has made virtually all facets of reality more

conveniences that it allows, technology has become seamlessly integrated into the
social infrastructure at almost every level. There is hardly an arena in which

portray it as an omnipotent force controlling Winston s actions and facial

repress his feelings of contempt and discontent within the oppressive regime of

Winston to repress any animalistic urges he has, such as the urge to express his

Winston s fear of expression of his libido when within the presence of a telescreen.
One example is when he and Julia make sure that the telescreen is off in O Connor s

Causes Of Birth Defects
Causes of Birth Defects
Every day a baby is born with a birth defect, and these defects range from minor
abnormalities that need no treatment, to severe defects that may need surgery, need
medication, or even cause disabilities. Caused by environmental influences or
inheritance, a birth defect is a biochemical or physical abnormality present at birth.
Around 4,000 birth defects have been discovered throughout the years and each year
1 out of 33 babies are born with a defect ( Gupta ). What mothers do while pregnant
can be a major factor that causes a birth defect. The most common causes of birth
defects include smoking, alcohol use, and recreational drug use while pregnant.
Smoking during pregnancy is one of the most common causes of birth defects in
babies. If a mother is smoking during her pregnancy the fetus is also experiencing the
effects smoking can cause. On average twenty percent of women smoke during their
pregnancies causing 1,000 baby deaths each year in the United States ( Smoking
During Pregnancy ). Smoking during pregnancy accounts for thirty percent of babies
born underweight, fourteen percent of premature labors, and ten percent of all infant
deaths ( Smoking During Pregnancy ). The placenta connects from the uterus to the
developing fetus, giving the baby the nutrients and oxygen it needs to grow. When a
mother inhales the poisonous gases from the cigarette, they travel into the mother s
blood stream and through the placenta into the fetus. While this
Outlawing The 8th Amendment
The constitution says nothing pertaining to capital punishment, thus the supreme
court left the decision up to individual states to decide what to do with their residents.
Some states, such as Michigan, do not partake in the death penalty. Eighteen states
have completely outlawed the act, and many more have not executed a person in over
a decade. This permissible act is degrading to human dignity and violates the eighth
amendment. This amendment states that the federal government is not allowed to
impose excessive bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishment upon United
States citizens, yet every state was given the power to execute its occupants if they
are involved in a wrongdoing of sorts. The sentencing process is too significant
Factors that Shaped the Modern Olympic Movement
DBQ Essay
Some factors that shaped the modern Olympic movement from 1892 to 2002 were
the increased participation of women in the games due to women s suffrage, the
rising nationalism and superiority over competitors that took place, and the increase
in trade and funding.
The modern Olympic movement was shaped through the soaring advocation of
women s rights (2, 8). An anonymous photographer (#2), in the 1908 Olympic games
held in Great Britain where only 2 percent of women participated in the games,
presents a photograph of Sybil Newall, a female British competitor at the games, and
advocates women participating in the games. This photographer might have this
view because he or she is a feminist that took place in the women suffrage movement
and is baffled that solely two percent of athletes were women, and is urging the
Olympics to make a great change. Hassiva Boulmerka (#8), an Algerian competitor
that engaged in the 1992 games held in Spain where 29 percent of the athletes were
women, believes that every woman has the ability of becoming an athlete, and must
strengthen their mind and conscious, not just their body, to overcome these social
challenges. Boulmerka, as a woman participant, may have this belief because she has
underwent these obstacles as well, and wishes to motivate women in Spain to have
the will and determination to overcome them and become a female athlete like
herself. A good additional document that would better our understanding of how this

Analyzing The Cash Flow Statement
Analysing the cash flow statement would be a great place to first look when initially
analysing a company. It is difficult for a company to manipulate the cash flow
statements resulting in a honourable place to find the actual numbers. The cash flow
statement is indicative of how well the company can convert net income into cash; it
also helps to determine if a company is strong or weak. Panera realizes a positive net
cash flowand is a strong company from their statements. To receive a deeper
analysis, the three sections of the cash flow statements, cash flows from
operations, cash flow from investing and cash flow from financing should be
dissected. In the first section of cash flows from operations (CFO), Panera has had
a strong and positive growth in cash flow from their operations from 2010 13 with
a slight drop in 2104 due to the fact their net income decreased in 2014. During all
five years, Panera stands in a upright position as their CFO is greater than net
income. A ratio can be computed to see how high the quality of net income is by
adding net income with deprecation dividing by the CFO shows that outside of
2010, net income proves to be of high quality. From the years 2011 2014 this ratio
hovers around 90%, while in 2010 this ratio falters to 75% due to a high level of
cash generated in accrued expenses. Although the net income remained high quality
in 2014 it is concerning that figured dropped due to an increase in expenses.

Books Should Be Banned In Schools
On Banning Books and Curriculum Over two hundred years ago, the Constitution
was signed giving citizens of a newly designed nation civil liberties that no man could
ever confiscate. The first of many Amendments to said document included the
freedoms to religion, the press, and most importantly freedom of speech. And with the
freedom of speech, arose so many great works of literature. Schools of the past then
decided on the context of their libraries and of their lesson plans. However, no one
ever concerns themselves with what happens to all of those other textbooks and
classics that mysteriously disappear from shelves and are no longer taught in the
classroom. Withholding knowledge from any student, who will soon be a full fledged

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank was banned in Wise County, Virginia
because of objections to sexually offensive passages (American Library Assiciation).
The natural changes that women go through in life were belligerent to these people,
even though it was only the honest opinion of a young girl. In cities in Illinois,
Pennsylvania, Iowa, Virginia and Texas banned Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

another and to move on we must learn to accept the racism of the past not hide it

A Student Desk That Will Be More Efficient For The
Students
For my design I will do a student desk that will be more efficient for the students to
work on. The age range for the desk can be from third graders to any age student.
For the desk I will be creating, the gender does not matter. The occupation for my
desk will be for students to work on and also have extra things to meet their needs.
This deskI will be creating could be for anyone, ranging from an amateur to a
professional. The desk could be for non disabled students to disabled students. The
target customer for the desk would be mostly students. Students need to have a
better desk, but they also need a place to put their computers or i pads too. It s a
very difficult process to take out a computer then put the computer back when you
re done. Some computers are sometimes also broken because other students used it,
or not charged at all. So, I will be making a compartment at the corner of the desk
where the computer ,or whatever you have, will be in the compartment at all times.
When you need it, you just push the desk down and it will rise up to show anything
you need with a hole that you can put a charger through it. The compartment also
needs to be big enough so anything would fit in it. There are many desksout in the
world, but many desks aren t fit to be for a student. When I researched student
desks I found that many desks weren t made to be for students. The desks were
very tiny and not big enough to hold books in. Some desks don t even have a place
to put books
Asthma Treatment
Asthma Treatment
Asthma is best described as a chronic inflammation the pulmonary lower airways
because of hyperresponsiveness of lower airway obstructions that is usually
reversible (Fireman, 2003). Asthma is triggered by cold air, exercise, viral upper
respiratory infections, cigarette smoking, and respiratory allergens. One in 12 people
in the United States has been diagnosed with asthma which is approximately 25
million people which accounts for 8% of the total population (AAAAI, 2016). It is
estimated that the average cost for care of asthma in the United States is about
$3,300.00 yearly in related medical expenses, missed school, missed worked days
and early death (AAAAI, 2016). The purpose of this paper is to describe the long

An effective asthma plan should include: knowing the triggers of the patient s asthma
attacks, taking the prescribed medication to control asthma and being able to
recognize the early signs of an asthma attack (AAFA, 2015). Being able to understand
and identify triggers reduces the use and need for medication and prevents asthma
attacks from occurring. Educating patients on the regular use of prescribed
medication and the importance of compliance is a key factor in asthma management.
Prescribing patient with meter dose inhaler is a beneficial option in the management
of an acute asthma attack for patients. An important goal to set for patients with
asthma is the use of a peak flow meter that can help the patient detect early narrowing
of the airways hours or even days before an asthma attack

Ancient Egypt is known for its beautiful artwork and complex ruling systems,
especially the New Kingdom. The New kingdom was well known for its beautiful
artworks, such as Tutankhamun s tomb which was one of the most major
masterpieces from this time. Aspects of religion and beliefs are depicted through
many artistic techniques such as shape, size and colour, which were also

This was presented through the use of colour, size and artistic style. Whether in
the form of sculpture, painting, carving or script etc, art had the power to maintain

form of art that showed the Egyptian belief systems and connected the land of the
living and the afterlife. Because of this, tomb art mostly illustrated some form of a
god to ensure the owner could expect a carefully navigated afterlife. Colour was
also highly valued as various colours represented different aspects of life (White,
2010). For example, the colour gold represents the colour of the sun, god s skin
and was linked to immortality and thus Tutankhamun s death mask is made of gold
(Source 5). The stripes on his headdress represent those that were typically worn by
pharaohs and he wears a fake beard which linked him to the image of god,
illustrating how Tutankhamun was still treated as a pharaoh after his death

all added to ensure the pharaoh himself was still protected and able to successfully
connect with the afterlife, and is a perfect source as it is still preserved from the
time. The excavation of Tutankhamun s tomb was a large accomplishment and
greatly celebrated as it helped give unique

Abstract
In this rhetorical analysis, the value of uniqueness and the use of flavors are
expressed in an ad by Dr. Pepper, a well known and popular company. These values
are found within the appeals of logos, pathos, and ethos. It also states the history of
how this soft drink was created, the creator, and the year it was created. Logos is
expressed when the brand states that it contains 23 flavors and also includes an

First was logos, a tool which helps the audience to trust a publication based on its
facts. It uses real information to support the use of logic. Next was pathos, which
appeals to the emotions or what people are feeling. It connects with the audience by
showing or interpreting something the audience relates to or shows interest in.
Lastly, ethos is to what extent the audience trusts an author by relying on their word
and reputation. The author s credentials support what they are trying to convey or the
message they are trying to send to the audience about an ad or announcement.

soft drinks in American history. Charles Alderton, the creator of Dr. Pepper in
1885, was a pharmacist at Morrison s Old Corner Drug Store, in the small town of
Waco, Texas, where he was in charge of giving medication to the people in Waco. In
his free time, he liked to work at the soda fountain where he would serve carbonated
drinks.
His greatest invention came from the idea of the smell of the different kind of fruit
syrups, and the smell of the drug store he worked in. After giving a sample test of
his new drink to the owner of the drug store, and him liking the taste of it, Alderton
gave his invention a greater opportunity to expand by offering it at the soda fountain.
His creation of this soft drink was exceptional, like no other drink, making other soda

A Merciful God From Violent Imagery Essay
A Merciful God from Violent Imagery
In 1742, Jonathan Edwards undertook the task of crafting a sermon that would be
powerful in the eyes of both believers and unbelievers. The result exists today as his
sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. The sermon differs from traditional
sermons both of his time and in modern times. Rather than depicting the merciful and
loving God of the Christian faith, Edwards brings to light a wrathful and angry God.
He takes a look into the human condition while justifying the wrath of God.
However, this is not the image of God that one is intended to take away from this
message. While the language and imagery of the sermon were intended to cause
feelings of hopelessness and fear, these are not the emotions that Edwards intended
his audience to leave with. In his sermon, Edwards identifies the human condition
and man s depravity while justifying the building wrath of God only to use such
harsh and violent imagery to paint a picture of a merciful and just God.
Edwards uses oversimplification and imagery to establish the human situation and
man s depravity. His first set of points establishes the dire situation of all human
beings. He establishes a world where the possibility of destruction is ever present
and where a man that stands on such slippery declining ground, on that edge of a pit,
he cannot stand alone, when he is let go he immediately falls and is lost (Edwards
430). He sees the human race on the brink of destruction with no

Manipulative And Beliefs Of The Puritans
In the early 1600 s, there was a group of Christians seeking religious freedom called
the Puritans. They were thought to be spreading God s love but what were really their
intentions? Many accounts show the Puritans as good natured people but some
believe that the Puritans were manipulative and deceiving. Anne Bradstreet s poem
Upon the Burning of Our House and Pastor Jonathan Edwards s sermon, Sinners in
the Hands of an Angry God are both Puritaninfluenced bodies of works, however
contradictory tactics are used to lead non believers to God.
For instance, Anne Bradstreet introduces a woman who was abruptly awaken from
her sleep, with her home ablaze. Her unawareness to the problem at hand displays
human emotions. Emotions of confusion and sadness are also seen when she
begins to denounce her faith in God; Bradstreet writes, Didst fix thy hope on mold
ring dust?/ The arm of flesh didst make thy trust ( 40 41). These lines refer to
Galatians 5:17, For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh In short, flesh symbolizes sin, a human moral weakness, or in this case, the
wanting of material possessions. Losing the things that she once had causes her to
deem that God has abandoned her because in the destruction of her home and loved
one is when she needed Him the most. Bradstreet knowns mourning over vanity is
not lawful in the eyes of God so she hinders her feelings and instead reclaims her
faith. In lines 8 10, Bradstreet seeks God to

the creation of jobs as well as synergies that assist other businessunits. These benefits
may be enough for the company to keep this business unit active despite its less than

Research Paper On Mouthguards
A big question asked nowadays is Should my kid wear a mouthguard during sports?
Although mouthguards are not recommended, you should probably still wear them.
According to an article, mouthguards will significantly help prevent damage done to
teeth. This will help in the long run because if even one adult tooth comes out it can
be worth over $1000 and even after that you have to get a crown restoration which
again is worth over $1000. Mouthguards are a good way to protect teethfrom damage
but also a good way to prevent a lot of money being spent in the future.
No one has specifically shown that mouthguards protect people from concussions.
According to Goldberg ВЁIf there s one blow to the chin and lower teeth, hit the
upper teeth hard enough, yeah, it can cause a concussion, But a shot to the back of the
head? The mouthguards not gonna helpВЁ(Goldberg). Some people have always

However, even those participating in noncontact sports (for example, gymnastics)
and any recreational activity (for example, skateboarding, mountain biking) that
might pose a risk of injury to the mouth would benefit from wearing a protective
mouth guard (Alfred D. Wyatt Jr. DMD). Mouthguards are very helpful and can be
used to prevent related injuries to your lips, tongue, and soft tissues of your mouth.
Mouth guards also help you avoid chipped or broken teeth, Nerve damage, or even
tooth loss. Mouthguards are a good way to protect teeth from damage but also a
good way to prevent a lot of money being spent in the future.
A lot of mouthguards are uncomfortable, and this is because they are too bulky, or
they do not fit because they are loose. There are three main types of mouthguards,

GPS Safety Bubble Technology Essay
Although Global Positioning technology has existed since the mid 1970 s, some of
the most significant advancements have taken place within the last five years. In
recent months, studies have been conducted by NASA and other institutions
concerning the use of advanced GPS technology in both computer controlled flight of
commercial aircraft and the establishment of no fly safetybubbles around designated
areas and buildings. In essence an aircraft s computer system would override a
manual command and not allow the craft to enter these designated areas. There are
many possible benefits of this technology, but with any new advancement also comes
ethical questions. While some believe this technology will increase air travel safety,

To promote international cooperation in using GPS for peaceful purposes.
To advance U.S. scientific and technical capabilities. (Rand McNally).
During the first years of the GPS development the general public could access the
satellites, but could only realize positioning precision to about 350 feet of actual
position. This was due to a Selective Availability policy that was put in place by the
U.S. government to insure that the military would have superior navigational
capabilities to the public. This changed however in May, 2000 when the government
decided that these limitations were no longer necessary. Today it is possible, with the
proper equipment, for anyone in the world to determine his or her precise location to
within about 60 feet. All though the information is classified, it is rumored that today,
using the most sophisticated GPS technology, the military can achieve precision
within 1 foot of actual position.
The current Global Positioning System is a group of satellites, known as a
constellation, which continually broadcast both their exact locations in space and
the exact time. By tracking the signals from at least four of these satellites, a GPS
receiver on earth can determine its current latitude, longitude and altitude. Some GPS
receivers can also report the current time, direction of travel and the rate of distance
traveled. This is all possible because both the GPS receiver and the Satellite count
time on an atomic clock.

Student Government Essay

  • 1. Student Government Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Student Government" can present both challenges and opportunities for the writer. On one hand, the subject matter is broad and multifaceted, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics within student governance, its roles, responsibilities, and impact on campus life. On the other hand, the challenge lies in presenting a unique perspective or angle that sets the essay apart from generic narratives. Researching for such an essay demands diligence in gathering information from various sources, including school policies, interviews with current or past student government members, and potentially examining the historical context of the student government's evolution. Analyzing how student government influences decision-making processes, addresses student concerns, and contributes to campus initiatives adds another layer of complexity. Structuring the essay effectively is another hurdle. Balancing the introduction, body, and conclusion while maintaining coherence and relevance can be challenging, especially when attempting to cover various aspects of student government within a limited word count. Moreover, articulating personal experiences or insights into the role of student government, if required, adds a subjective dimension that may demand introspection and thoughtful expression. Despite the difficulties, the essay provides an opportunity for the writer to showcase their understanding of governance structures, critical thinking skills, and capacity to communicate effectively. It's a chance to highlight the importance of student government in shaping campus life and fostering a sense of community. In conclusion, tackling a "Student Government Essay" is no small feat. It requires meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and effective communication skills to deliver a compelling and insightful piece. However, with dedication and a strategic approach, navigating the complexities of this topic can result in a well-crafted essay that stands out. • 2. Analysis Of The Poem Where The Sidewalk Ends Shel Silverstein is a notable writer, made famous for his poems that were geared towards children. One of his most famous poems, Where the Sidewalk Ends shares the title with what may be his most well known book. This poem is a very meticulously worded work, and although it may be published in a children s book, it can be understood and very meaningful to older generations. This piece has a depth and wisdom that may be well beyond the comprehension of young minds, and it can be interpreted and analyzed in many ways and can reveal a variety of themes. When first reading this short poem, the initial theme that stands out to me, personally is the idea of the change that occurs during aging. It seems that the stark contrast between the imagery of the first stanza, versus the second stanza reveals the dramatic difference between childhood and adulthood. Childhood can be thought of as more gentle, airy, and even innocent. The third lineof the first stanza says the grass grows soft and white... (Silverstein, n.d.). This gives that notion of gentleness, and innocence associated with childhood. Many think of the color white and associate it with innocence, maybe because of their religious practices. Religious imagery sometimes depicts heavenly beings in white robes, possibly surrounded by white wisps of clouds or white rays of light. The word soft is also associated with gentleness. Many would imagine the soft grass, and think back to a time in their childhood on a

  • 7. Sexuality in John Donne s The Flea Essay A Reading of John Donne s The Flea It is common to ascribe to Donne the status of archetypal logical poet a man whose works are tightly crafted, confident, and certain in their application of metaphor and analogy. True enough, Donne s poem seems to suggest a certain self security: we see a tight, predictable rhyme scheme, and an ordered structure. There is also arguably a wealth of rhetorical resources Donne does not shy away from using the lexis of the military ( triumph st ), the medical ( two bloods...mingled ) or even the religious ( cloysterd , sacrilege ). Such a feature that might be read as hinting at Donne s essential confidence in his ability to create a unified philosophy, to adapt a wide range of discourses, to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such an argument is obviously a contradiction he argues at the same time the flea s capacity and incapacity to represent the woman and husband. Similarly, he insists on the essential privacy of sexuality, repeating and emphasising marriage in line 13, by which he figures the domestic space and its objects as defined in primarily erotic terms. But lines 5 and 6 demand the addressee to consider sexual relations in primarily public terms sin , shame or maidenhead (that latter word hints as much as social position head has the same root as the modern suffix hood ), where a flea is a small, insignificant object that cannot be equated with a sexual union. The paradox that concludes the poem both uses impersonal, public terms honor more obviously, though yield also (it suggests a set of broader power relations, and would be associated somewhat, I would argue, with images of sexual relations in terms of larger scale social hierarchies). The very slightest charge we could level at Donne is that he seems tempted to sacrifice logic for rhetorical finesse three sins for killing three is of course, not true to kill three and commit sacrilege would make four sins. This is not simple pedantry, but rather I think it alerts us to a prioritisation of tried and tested stylistics over the logical progression that Donne s tricky arguments, grounded in points of intellectual studies of his age, asks us to focus on. It is by far one of the biggest delivery companies in the world. Two teenagers started the company in 1907. By 1975, UPS was serving 48 countries in the United States. By the 1990s, UPS shifted towards a global footprint that has worked tremendously. UPS has emerged in many different economies; however, UPS has not had as much market scale, as they have wanted in India. In 2005 and 2008, they formed alliances with Jet Air and AFL Private Ltd for betteraccess in India. However, UPS has used more resources in other markets, like China and Malaysia. Therefore, competitors of UPS will begin to enter India if UPS does not do something soon. Unfortunately, DHL, one of their competitors, bought an Indian delivery company and it has been successful. As a result, UPS wants to enter the Indian market with full force, but many questions will arise to join a market with over a billion people. An external analysis that can be done on UPS is the PESTEL analysis. From a political standpoint, UPS has to deal with labor unions. In 1997, they actually had a labor strike due to pensions and pay. As a result, the company lost over 650 million dollars due to the strike. In order to have a successful business, the workers have to be satisfied. Also, there are political implications in doing business in India for the deliverycompanies because it

Fossil fuels, formed from organic materials over the course of many centuries, have fueled the global and U.S. economic development for the past two centuries. Nonetheless, fossil fuels are finite resources that cause irreversible harm to the environment. Scientists consider them nonrenewable forms of energy since they take hundreds of years to form. According to Rand (2010), fossil fuels were responsible for 79 percent of the greenhouse emissions in 2010. Energy efficiency has a variety of benefits: lowering cost on both household and economical levels, reducing demand for energy imports, and fewer greenhouse emissions. Although renewable energy technologies help to accomplish these objectives of reducing the utilization of fossil fuels, the cheapest, and often most immediate, is improving energy efficiency. There are considerable opportunities for improving the efficiency in almost all sectors of the economy, whether it is transport, energy generation, buildings, or industry. Most typical cars consume fossil fuels. Choosing alternative forms of transport other than running a personal car saves on the fossil fuel. Alternative forms of transport in America include train, subway system, or bus. Moreover, taking public transport does not only save on fossil fuels but it also allows one to concentrate on other things such as reading. Additionally, the best way of being independent of fossil fuels is driving less. Bicycle riding or walking reduces the utilization of fossil fuels; it is cheap, good for the environmental, and

In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line, due to fluctuations in demand. The CV for each parka was derived using the following formula: CV = standard deviation/average forecasted demand. The CVs for each product line can be seen below in Table 2.1 Table 2.1 Risk assessment for each product line Lastly, so as to determine which lines had more associated risk, it has been decided that any line with a CV of under 0.2 was low risk, and therefore less subject to fluctuations in demand. Those lines are Assault, Seduced, Entice, Electra, and Gail. Those lines with a CV of over 0.2 were considered high risk. Those product lines were Daphne, Isis, Anita, Teri and Stephanie. The minimum production requirement for China is 1,200 units per line, double that of the Hong Kong plant. At the China plant, there is

The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Essay Methods One major method that will be used will be the statistics taken from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) provided by the NC department of health. Also, data will be used for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Trust for America s Health study, done for the year 2015. Both of these will give pertinent data on what factors may increase obesity over the target population. While the method of this surveillance may use the BRFSS, there can be many more other methods that can be used. In evaluating a financial project, majority of the times the methods used during the evaluations will be quantitative, in order to prove financial gain (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). The same quantitative method can also be used in two different ways within this project. The first method used for quantitative reporting, would be as the same as Makarova Sokolva mentioned, which would be using it as a financial indicator of the overall success of the project (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). As stated earlier, obese individuals spend about 1,429 dollars more on health care than a normal individual (Finkelstein, Trodgdon, Cohen Dietz, 2009). If an analyst wanted to take this quantitative method, they would use the amount of money saved per year, over the course of an individual s life, as a way to show that the evaluation of a plan was successful. To further this, if the surveillance saw one person stay below obese for 25 years, this would yield a total savings of around

With the rise of Christianity, the breasts and the flesh in general were discouraged from being exposed. With rounded bellies gaining popularity, the stomach was considered to be more of an important center of female sexuality (Broby Johansen, 1968, p. 131). This was modeled after the Virgin Mary whose round belly contained the savior (Yalom, 1997, p. 40). It wasn t until the fourteenth century and the Renaissance that this began to change. One of the downsides of this method was that I could not record information as I was observing. Writingdown what they were saying and what was going on would seem rude and would be hard to do. During my time at the school, I have observed a number of teaching styles and strategies which have enabled me to reflect and develop my own teaching techniques. The class focussed upon within my report is a middle set year eight; within this class I have 4 SEN students and an extra teaching assistant to provide further support. Focus Socrates (469 399 B.C) stated; The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. Since the golden age the misbehaviour of students have been recognised both within the parental and school environment. This is still a noticeable issue which has been highlighted further by news reports, technological advances and government discussions, leading to many prevention measures being designed and implemented (e.g. Guidance for school staff members has been provided and published by the government entitled Behaviour and discipline in schools). Without a doubt, black men in the United States continue to be excessively incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their white counterparts (Kerby 2). Portrayals in the media have depicted black men as thugs and common criminals; these negative stereotypes demoralize men of color and allow society to believe and internalize this destructive thinking. The racial disparities that exist in the criminal justice system are an indirect consequence of the portrayals of African Americanmen that circulate in society. Because of racial disparities that occur in the United States it consequently threatens communities of color by disenfranchising thousands by limiting voting rights and denying equal access to employment, housing, public benefits, and education to millions more (Kerby 2). Two professors from the University of British Columbia and the University of Michigan Law School, M. Marit Rehavi and Sonja B. I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There are a number of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one is in the first line, amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217; The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father and his Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing his Grandfather. It does this by using the words levered and firmly they make the whole phrase seem more realistic. However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to emphasize sight amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge. amp;#8217; These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two onomatopoeic words; squelch and slap. The Time Machine is a classic novel that will relate to all teens by showing them that love will remain even when everything else is gone. In The Time Machine, the author uses conflict to teach that even when humans have lost all intelligence and strength, lovewill always remain. The problem isn t the violence in the media though; it is the media s failure to show the consequences of violence. This is especially true of cartoons, toy commercials, and music videos. Children often do not realize that it hurts to hit someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is beat up, injured, or killed, only to return in the very next episode, good as new. As a result, children learn that there are few, if any repercussions for committing violent acts. In a recent incident in Norway, two children beat another child by jumping and kicking the child in the head and other parts of her body numerous times. As a result, the child died from being left out in the cold because she was not able to move due to her injuries. Later the officials had discovered that the barbaric incident was due to the fact that the children had watched the violent cartoon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The children thought that the girl would later get up because in the show the characters never die. Consequently, the show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was canceled throughout Norway. Music

The modern Olympic movement was shaped through the soaring advocation of women s rights (2, 8). Panera realizes a positive net cash flowand is a strong company from their statements. To receive a deeper analysis, the three sections of the cash flow statements, cash flows from operations, cash flow from investing and cash flow from financing should be dissected. In the first section of cash flows from operations (CFO), Panera has had a strong and positive growth in cash flow from their operations from 2010 13 with a slight drop in 2104 due to the fact their net income decreased in 2014. During all five years, Panera stands in a upright position as their CFO is greater than net income. A ratio can be computed to see how high the quality of net income is by adding net income with deprecation dividing by the CFO shows that outside of 2010, net income proves to be of high quality. From the years 2011 2014 this ratio hovers around 90%, while in 2010 this ratio falters to 75% due to a high level of cash generated in accrued expenses. Although the net income remained high quality in 2014 it is concerning that figured dropped due to an increase in expenses. Cash flow from investing

The result exists today as his sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. The sermon differs from traditional sermons both of his time and in modern times. Rather than depicting the merciful and loving God of the Christian faith, Edwards brings to light a wrathful and angry God. He takes a look into the human condition while justifying the wrath of God. However, this is not the image of God that one is intended to take away from this message. While the language and imagery of the sermon were intended to cause feelings of hopelessness and fear, these are not the emotions that Edwards intended his audience to leave with. In his sermon, Edwards identifies the human condition and man s depravity while justifying the building wrath of God only to use such harsh and violent imagery to paint a picture of a merciful and just God. This was due to a Selective Availability policy that was put in place by the U.S. government to insure that the military would have superior navigational capabilities to the public.
