The EyeRing is a finger-worn device that allows users to access digital information about objects using pointing gestures or touch. It consists of a camera, processor, Bluetooth module, battery, and button attached to a plastic ring. When the button is pressed, the camera takes a snapshot that is sent to a mobile phone via Bluetooth. Computer vision and speech processing on the phone then analyze the image and read out information to the user through a headset. The EyeRing was invented to help both visually impaired and sighted people access information about their environment through an intuitive pointing interaction.
