Expressive English
Welcome to Expressive English!
This is a course that will help students learn English
phraseology and use it in everyday communication.
It is for students who already have a good
command of the basic structures of English and who now
wish to increase their range of vocabulary and
phraseology.
It also gives assistance to students preparing for
advanced examinations in English as it presents words
and phrases from a variety of topics and involves creative
activities which enrich the materials greately.
You will study four groups of idiomatic expressions:
Part I – colour idioms;
Part II – body idioms;
Part III – animal idioms;
Part IV – food idioms.
Apart from this you will research the connotations
that different words acquire when used in idioms by
studying a variety of internet resourses.
Evaluation
After studying the task material students take a
practical test (10 points).
Also they are asked to carry out creative research
and send the results in the form of Powerpoint
presentation.
Evaluation of the students’ creative work is based
on the amount of linguistic material (5points), quality of
presentation (5 points) and their individual contribution,
i.e. the number of their own examples and illustrations (5
points).
