This document discusses the impact of electric vehicles (EVs) on the power grid with high penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). It presents two approaches to charging EVs smartly: optimized charging and rule-based charging. The document also describes tools used like OpenDSS, OMNeT++, and R that allow modeling and simulating smart grid systems. Case studies are presented showing how optimized constant demand charging and profit maximization strategies can improve grid performance by managing demand, electricity prices, reactive power control, power quality, and reducing losses.
