1. Write up my Literacy focus in magnifying glass.
2. Teach one or two specific reading strategies each week.
3. Display taught reading strategies on CAFE board.
4. Assign a specific reading goal for each student, write on sticky notes and display them on CAFE board.
5. Use Words Their Way spelling program to explicitly target students’ individual spelling stage.
6. Assess students’ handwriting, collate results and focus on the letters students’ struggle with.
7. Use blogging to explicitly teach about writing (spelling, editing, grammar, punctuation etc).
8. Make and display posters to remind students of expectations.
9. Use real life examples to teach comprehension and inferences – Behind the News is terrific.http://www.abc.net.au/btn/
10. Take photos of student writing samples and display on IWB to demonstrate good examples to the class.
