Early Life
Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri where she lived with

Stamps, Arkansas.
In Stamps for just four years she later moved in with her mother. While she was
around the age seven or eight, Maya was sexually abused by her mother s

Four days after his release, he was killed by Maya s uncles. For next couple of years

recurring idea of a dysfunctional marriage. This very idea is continually presented
throughout the book, showing how multiple characters are affected by the same
situation and how that circumstance changes their view on the world. We see this
dysfunctional marriage appear in the beginning with Pearl Tull, contrary to popular
culture at the time of the novel, left by her husband to raise 3 young children (Cody,
Ezra, and Jenny) on her own as a single mother. The fact that their father, Beck Tull,
deserts his family at such a young age of the children causes many issues throughout
the relationships of the family members and those who become involved in their

we see is Mrs. Cooper (Gish) telling children a story as they are superimposed over

movie we see a rather dramatic montage with scenes of Powell being led to a police
car, an angry mob rushing down the street, and Mrs. Cooper leading the children.

Interview with Mary Robinson Mary Robinson is the former president of Ireland and
the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner. In a recent interview with Rachel
Martin of npr.org, titled How Human Rights Efforts and The Fight Against Climate
Change Are Related, Mary Robinson discusses how the global climate and the way
that we treat each other has changed from an environment of global cooperation to a
much more hostile and less cooperative environment. This can be attributed to
globalization which is when society is being internationally influenced, and

Instead the government only choses to listen if its going to benefit the optics of the
government in some way. An example of this is many people in the rust belt of
America feel as if migrants are taking their jobs, this causes a sense of abandonment
from the government in this area and also affects political participation.
Globalization causes inequality because countries that have a lower GDP or are less
developed often get forgotten unless they are need for resources.

conflict contributes to a negative nationalist identity. In United States society we see
an increase in hate speeches, a use of hate and fear as a form of intimidation, and we

current political climate as well as current international relations. As the younger
generations become more aware of the injustices occurring across the United States
and across the world, their distrust in the government and political organizations

There are many programs to help people in need against violence, assault, abuse,
and delinquency. Each program is design to help people with these issues and how
to overcome them. There are many similarities and difference that each program has.
Each has its own intervention method used to help people in the different programs.
Some programs are very effective in helping people with their issues while other

Those programs that are tailored to juvenile delinquency provide a structure
support system for juveniles to successful adults. A notable program that has
effectiveness in juvenile delinquency is the Court Appointed Friend and Advocate
(CAFA) program, which is located in Santa Clara, California (Judicial Council of
California, 2017). This program allows the juvenile courts system in its
jurisdiction to appoint a juvenile advocate to sponsor a juvenile in their journey to
be a successful and contributing member of the community. When a juvenile is
required to report to a court hearing for a juvenile delinquent related offense, the
judge may offer the juvenile a deferred entry of judgement (DEJ) and order the
juvenile to participate in the CAFA program. The court will also assign a juvenile
advocate, who is also an officer of the court, to the juvenile s case. The juvenile
advocate has the authority to access all related information to the juvenile
including court record, school records, medical records, and probation files
(Superior Courts of California, 2014). The juvenile advocate is act as agent,
mentor, and friend for the juvenile. Their primary goal is to understand the juvenile
and provide direction that will be acceptable for the courts and provide a positive

aging. In a society obsessed with staying young, one must ask themselves: When is
life too long? In these next two articles, we examine and analyze the benefits, side
effects and the complications that come with living longer lives than we are
accustomed too. These articles are Who wants to live forever? Three arguments
against extending the human lifespan. By Martien A. M. Pijnenburg and Carlo
Leget and Science Can Help Us Live Longer, But How Long Is Too Long? by
Randy Rieland. The first article discusses three arguments against the idea of
humans living longer lives. While the second article considers the pros and cons
of living a longer life and why most people refuse comply. Even though, both
articles present great arguments and a thorough understanding of the subject they
discuss, Pinenburg s extensive research, experience and credentials make his
article the favorable choice to write a research paper on. Both articles present
similar arguments on the same subject, nevertheless, they demonstrate contrasting
styles of writing. The first article Science Can Help Us Live Longer, But How
Long Is Too Long? by Randy Rieland has a more simplistic writing style and takes
a more laid back approach. Rielands article appeals to a wider audience. He includes

Executive Privilege In The United States Vs. Richard Nixon
In the Supreme Court case United States vs. Richard Nixon there was a lot of
controversy about Nixon s executive privilege. Well, what is an executive privilege?
It is known as the privilege, or special right, claimed by the president in the executive
branch of the US government, of withholding information in the public interest.
Although Presidents get special privileges, their rights are not absolute and must be
balanced against other political interests (United Statesvs. Nixon). Nixon abused his
right of Executive privilege when he helped his government officials break into the
Watergate complex. It was said that the Watergate affair relates to the re election of
Richard Nixon, which later worked out in his favor because he won the election.
Well how did this get to the courts? With more than 5 people involved in the
scandal, they broke into the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C.
and wiretapped the phones in the building and also stole important documents. The
burglars discovered that the microphones weren t working so they broke in again to
try to get them and put new ones in, but got caught by a security guard who noticed
that the door locks were taped over. They didn t know for sure if President Nixon

Four men from Lawrence were arrested Sunday after a state trooper discovered
roosters that had just come from a cockfight in their car, said police
Sunday around 1:45 a.m., a state trooper pulled over a gray 2003 Honda Accord on
Route 84 for failure to move over for an ambulance. Inside were four men and police
said the trooper witnessed them shoving something under the seat. The trooper had
noticed a sticker on the back of the car that read TRABA 24K with a silhouette of a
rooster.
As the trooper stood by the accord s window, he was a bag under one of the seats
moving and he heard noises coming from it, said police. He then radioed for backup.
Police said the four people were taken out of the car; the trooper has hens at his own

The animals were poor condition, with the roosters missing all the feathers below the
neck and chest area. They also were covered with gouges on their bodies.
Police said that also inside the Accord was a bag containing several rolls of medical
tape, nail files, a block of wax, long sharp acrylic talon, pictures of a rooster and a
container of styptic powder which is used to stop bleeding.

The four men have been identified as 26 year old Winton Hernandez, 54 year old

from Lawrence. All four were charged with animal cruelty, animal fight and
conspiracy. In addition, the driver, Hernandez, was charged with obstructing an
emergency vehicle.
The birds were taken to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in Grafton where they are being
treated. All four men were transported to the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge
where they were booked and later released on $500 bail
