(This is the military, 2014). Exposure therapy is the practice of flooding the client
with images of their traumatic experience in an effort to desensitize them, and help
control and reduce their anxiety (DiMaurio, 2014). This essay will discuss the
efficacy of group exposure therapy when administered to patients with PTSD,
specifically OIF and OEF veterans and service members. The outcome in
successful studies will result in a decrease in PTSD symptoms. The applicability
of the results and implementation of the treatment in alternate settings will also be

This paper is a review of the book Japan s Comfort Women Sexual slavery and
prostitution during WWII and the US occupation by Yuki Tanaka. This book was
published in 2002 by Routledge. The book deals with the thousands of Japanese,
Korean, Chinese and other Asian and European women who were victims of
organized sexual violence and prostitution by means of comfort stations setup by the
Japanese military during World War II.
As we first get into the book, we find out that the origins of comfort stations i.e.
military brothels are unknown, but official documents strongly suggest that the

Some other women however faced different routes.
Chinese and Filipina women were lured into these sexual schemes by not just deceit,
but by force as well. Recruiters used violence and often kidnapping to get these
women. While the Japanese forces had occupied China, they used Korean women for
their authorized comfort stations for fear of anti Japanese resentment among Chinese
civilians. However, this did not stop some Japanese from setting up comfort stations
using Chinese women. These unofficial comfort stations were not given approval
from higher Japanese authority. The Japanese army adopted the tactics called
Shodo Sakusen which meant scorched earth strategy (p.46). This meant that the
army could destroy any village if ordered too which of course included the rape of
women. This is an account of a 15 year old Chinese girl who along with other girls,
was abducted and separated from her family. Day after day they were raped by
Japanese soldiers in the cave. Each day she was raped by at least two or three soldiers
sometimes by 10 soldiers. The cave was guarded by Chinese collaborators, making
it impossible to escape. She was often taken to an officer s room in the fortress and
raped there, too (p.46). The Japanese also occupied the regions of the Philippines
and Filipina women were kidnapped and abducted as well by force and were used as

It is often said that history is written by the victor. Growing up, we have been
indoctrinated that the United States and capitalism are the moral choices in the
perceptions of government. These views of our history are rooted in our countries
past, and since we learn from our pasts, we carry forward a view of the United States
moral dominance in world affairs. Yet during the cold war, the United States was not
the only country portrayed as the moral center of the world. After the end of World
War Two, the Soviet Unionand the United States fought a war of words, the Cold
War, for supremacy and world influence. The tones of these arguments were that
both sides and their opposing forms of government were the pinnacle of moral
standing. This war of words extended to the battlefield as third world nations,
seeking freedom from their colonial oppressors who were torn apart by allegiance to
either the Communist system of the Soviet Union or the Capitalist system of the
United States. It was the Soviet Union and the United States that waged the war of
idealism, chastising each other s moral vacancy, while members of smaller countries,
such as Vietnam, turned to both the powers as a means of improving their own lives
while caring little for the verbiage of the battling superpowers.

This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research
quite frequently. These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to
purify a crude sample of acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a
very common method that is used to purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solid
with impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and cooling down the mixture afterwards
for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method allows impurities to
separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution. Solids
are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for
proper separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the
compound, the melting pointis determined using the Mel Temp technology to
compare to the written melting point to see how pure the sample truly is. The proper
steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the characteristic of all
the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the
chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution
as cooling takes place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding
the crystals of all impurities through drying. In this experiment, recrystallization

While working freelance, Mozart wrote numerous operas and he was even asked to
write a requiem, which is a piece of music used to honor someone who had died.
Mozart was a virtuoso on the piano. A virtuoso refers to someone who is highly
skilled on his or her instrument. Mozart played keyboard and violin while his
sister only played the keyboard. At the early age of 3, Mozart was showing signs
of being musically gifted and began composing shortly after. Both he and his sister
received intense musical training which, in turn, allowed Mozart the opportunity
to grow as a musician. It became certain that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a
child prodigy. This meant that he had a skill that was not learned. He had a natural
gift for music. Their father, Leopold began teaching his children music at a young
age. Because of this, both children were destined to get far in their musical careers.
Over his short life, Mozart wrote several operas. His most famous operas include;
The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute and La Clemenza di Tito. Operas and
plays that are entirely sung. Each of Mozart s operas have a story behind it. For
example, The Marriage of Figaro is a comedy about a couple trying to get married
but, a series of obstacles interferes with it. Because Mozart showed a talent for music
at the young age of six, his father took him and his sister to play in from of a court
and they caught the attention of important individuals. This resulted in a tour.

Double Strand Breaks (DSB)
Among the many types of DNA damage, one of the most severe is DNA double
strand breaks (DSB). DNA DSBs occur when two complementary strands break
simultaneously generating two strands which are not being held together by base
pairing and chromatin structure. Few known causes for DSB are ionizing radiation,
chemical mutagens, reactive oxygen species and drugs which are used for
chemotherapy (Goodsell, 2005). This breakage can cause chromosomal
rearrangement such as translocation and inversion, consequentially resulting in
detrimental phenotypic affects. How are these breaks repaired? DSBs can be
repaired through distinct mechanistically set pathways, as shown in figure 1, such as
Homologous recombination repairs (HRR), Non end joining homologous repair
(NHEJ) and more recently discovered Microhomology mediated end joining
(MMEJ). HRR uses a homologous template to accurately repair the broken strand,
whereas NHEJ relies on Ku proteins (Fnu et al., 2011) and DNAligase to repair DNA
double strands, often times causing small insertions or deletions at the joining site.
MMEJ, a more recent finding, uses a 5 25 bp micorohomologous sequence to align
the broken ends simultaneously always causing deletions in the previously broken
strand (McVey and Lee, 2008).
Genomic instability is a trademark of increased risk of cancers with age. This
instability arises from several problems, with one of the main ones being double

The Motivation of Fear What is the driving force for humanity to form civilizations
and live in homes? Is it to have a protective structure from the wild? Why do
humans act the way they do? Human nature is a natural response to the fear that

emotional response to possibility of being in danger or being anxious. Thus, the fear

Musical Critique On November 9th, I attended the fall semester concert of William
Penn University Department of Fine at the MTC. The WPU singers were directed
by Anita Meinert and the WPU Jazz Ensemble was directed by Scott Cressley. I was
mislead by the online website, it had the wrong time posted. Consequently, I arrived
about a half hour into the concert. Of course I didn t know this at the time. I simply
thought everyone had gotten there early so they started a bit before the time the
website had posted. I was soon told by another classmate that I was in fact very late.

One of the major differences between ancient and modern day Olympics include the
events that are involved. In the first few Olympics there was only one event. It was a
martial arts event with few rules. Soon after racing events and gymnastics became
involved. Now there are a total of 26 events that include many newer sports such as
basketball and swimming adding to the entertainment and variety of the present day
Olympics.

In ancient Greece only high ranking Greek people could attend. There was also no
way of broadcasting the events such as over TV. Now people from any country can
watch and it is almost impossible to avoid at least seeing about it on TV.
Another major difference is that now women are much more important to the
Olympics than they were long ago. the ancient Olympics only men were allowed to
compete or even attend the events. Now women are almost as important as the men.
They compete in most of the same events and offer as much entertainment value for
the public watching the events.
One way that modern and ancient Olympics are similar is that in both modern and
ancient the victors are viewed as heroes. In the early times the victors were viewed
as heroes because they brought honor to Zeus who the events were held for. Now

That is, we need to provide the client with a list of priority items that can be
improved and that will have a positive impact on overall satisfaction or customer
loyalty and retention. Typically, the goal is to establish the list of priorities and
relative importance of the explanatory variables, rather than try to predict the mean
value of customer satisfaction if these improvements were implemented. Since most
CSAT studies are tracking studies, the results can be monitored over time to
determine if the desired changes are occurring. We must be sure that changes in the
results are in fact customer response to the client s marketing efforts and not just
phantoms of the analytic tool used to build the model. The latter often happens as a
result of multicollinearity, which is a serious problem in many CSAT studies and
