Long-Term Memory In The Movie Inside Out
Inside Out is a popular children s movie about an eleven year old girl, Riley, and
the emotions in her brain. These emotions are personified as Joy, Anger, Disgust,
Fear, and Sadness and they control everything Riley does in headquarters (Inside
Out). It is quite clear that the filmmakers did their research because, overall, it is
accurate even if it is a kid s movie. The movie does have a few inaccuracies, but

The part the movie creators go wrong about long term memory is that all the short
term memories seem to go into the long term library which is not true because
some short term memories, like phone numbers, are forgotten almost immediately
after use. The long term memory library also had workers in it that deleted the
faded memories most of which are telephone numbers that belonged in short term
memory to begin with and the workers should not have been in the movie because
long term memories are stored in one s brain forever. A second very minor error in
the movie is that right when Riley goes to sleep she enters REM sleep, which does
not happen, the first stage of sleep is Stage 1 NREM (Myers). The movie also
suggests that dreams are just our body replaying the events that occurred the
previous day in a different or distorted way, which is not the case at all because
dreams can be created from a multitude of things. The final thing Inside Out writers
got wrong is their portrayal of the human brain s subconscious. In the movie the
subconscious is just a bunch of Riley s deepest and darkest fears that are all
grouped together in a cave. While this demonstrates the phenomena of chunking,
which is grouping information together, the subconscious does hold a person s

thoughts he or she is not fully aware of, but still influences thinking and decision

justice? The purpose of this work is to establish the links between the business
world and transitional justice mechanisms. My purpose is more specifically to link
the potential crimes perpetrated by corporations and the transitional justice
mechanisms. This work does not link the transitional justice field to a defined field
of research. Corporate responsibility or accountability is a concept coming from
law and business literature. For the United Nations, transitional justice is the full
range of processes and mechanisms associated with a society s attempt to come to
terms with a legacy of large scale past abuses, in order to ensure accountability,

discussing transitional justice focuses on individuals or states, not collective
organizations. Mechanisms of transitional justice are fourfold and include: a justice

The Titan arum is a magnificent plant that stands high above the plumage of other
plants. It is a member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence
while also being enclosed by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or

July 4th is the day celebrated when America gained declared independence from
Great Britain. It s been celebrated every year as a country since the adoption of the
Declaration of Independence since 1776. In 1852, the 5th of July, Frederick
Douglas was asked to speak in front of northern abolitionists in New York of the
holiday and the subject of independence and freedom. Frederick Douglas would be
the ideal person to speak about freedom. At the time in 1850 s he was an African
Americanman who had gained his freedom from slavery. He had taught himself
how to read and write, which was uncommon for an Africa American to do, during
slave hood. Most slaveholders at this time would want to keep their slaves illiterate.
This was an era where Northern states were just beginning to nurture the idea of
abolition. Being an abolitionist was still dangerous and censored in the south, and
most northerners were just anti slavery, the difference between the two was one
wanted the end of slavery total (abolitionists) and the other just wanted to stop the

The struggle for survival Every society is unique on its own, however during hard
times, most societies end up alike and collapse. In the novel, Lord of The Flies by
William Golding, a relatively large group of British boys are deported from their
homeland and end up lost on an island in the middle of nowhere. The boys suffer
from conflicts with who should take charge and lead the group in a direction of
future rescue. They pick a leader, in which tries to satisfy everyone, however
throughout the story actions lead to consequences and soon the group/society falls
apart. The three main symbols, Piggy s glasses, the conch, and the fire gradually show
the corruption of human beings and civilization. William Golding uses these tools to
create a society bringing everyone together and then causing problems and selfishness
turning most of the group into savages , similar to what would happen during an
apocalypse. The story starts with a crash of an airplane on a remote island, where
a group of British boys between the ages of 6 and 12. With no adults around, the
boys are left to fend for and govern themselves. Things start out okay as the boys
use a conch shell to get everyone to meet ( It s ever so valuable ) (15), and Ralph,
one of the older boys, becomes chief with the trumpet thing (21). The conch

Every person is uniquely different than another individual and this even includes
their type of writing style. Now this leads me into my story of a girl who use to
struggle with reading and writing. She is uniquely different than the rest and has
gone on a great journey to where she is today. By looking at her today you may not
know that in grade school she was in Title 1 to assist her with reading and writing.
Allison Gion joined Speech and this helped her immensely. Her writing is very
creative and she definitely likes to tell original stories to many.
