1. Example
of
Correct
Setting
Out
What
is
needed!
This
is
not
an
option!
You
need
to
set
your
work
out
correctly,
or
you
will
make
careless
and
silly
mistakes.
I
know,
as
I
have
made
the
same
mistakes!
1. Equal
signs
are
all
underneath
each
other.
2. In
grid
books,
make
sure
you
leave
a
line
space
between
each
line.
a. This
allows
for
you
to
insert
things
if
you
make
a
mistake
b. It
also
allows
you
to
clearly
see
careless
mistakes.
c. And
it
also
makes
it
easy
for
your
teacher
to
see
the
careless
mistakes
and
help
you.
3. Don’t
spend
forever
on
neatness.
Make
sure
your
numbers
are
readable.
Give
your
book
to
your
friend
and
ask
them
if
they
can
read
your
number
EASILY.
If
reading
your
book
is
a
struggle,
then
you
need
to
tidy
it
up
a
bit.
General
rules
for
mathematics.
Line
1:
Formula
that
you
will
use
to
solve
the
entire
problem.
Line
2:
First
formula
you
will
use
to
solve
the
first
part
of
the
problem.
2. E.g.
Volume
=
Area
of
Base
x
Height
A
of
B
=
½
BH
=
½
x
5
x
4.2
=
10.5
cms2
Volume
=
A
of
B
x
H
=
10.5
x
8
=
84
cms2
Line
2
is
not
always
needed,
but
for
volume
problems
it
is.
Line
3:
Substitute
values
into
the
formula.
Line
4
is
your
answer
and
so
on.
This
kind
of
setting
out
is
easy
to
read
and
follow.
It
will
help
ensure
less
careless
errors
are
made
in
setting
out.
It
will
also
mean
that
your
teacher
may
give
you
extra
marks
even
when
your
answer
is
wrong,
as
he
can
see
that
all
your
working
out
is
correct,
and
that
you
understand
how
to
solve
the
problem,
even
though
you
didn’t
get
the
correct
answer.
