Although the industry is beneficial from a life cycle assessment point of view, over
the years it has gravitated toward countries with low labor costs, weak regulations on
occupational safety, and limited environmental enforcement. The global shift in the
industry to countries with comparatively weaker regulatory systems is of particular
concern as ships contain many hazards that can have significant detrimental effects
on humans and the environment if not dealt with properly.
Currently, the global center of the ship breaking and recycling industry is located in
South Asia, specifically Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. These three countries
account for 70 80 percent of the international market for ship breaking of ocean
going vessels, with China and Turkey accounting for most of the rest. Only about 5
percent of the global volume of such vessels is scrapped outside these five countries.
This study focuses on the SBRI in Bangladesh and Pakistan to get a better
understanding of the economics of the industry and the environmental impacts arising
out of such activity and to explore possible ways in which such environmental effects

A study by Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, and Price JC (1997) investigated
controlled release on two kinds of carrageenan, lambda carrageenan (Viscarin GP
209) and iota carrageenan (Gelcarin GP 379). They analyzed their respective
compression capabilities through the use of a Strokes single punch machine. Yield
pressure was calculated at 81.3 Pa for iota carrageenan and 105.2 MPa for lambda
carrageenan through the use of Heckel plots out of die tabletdensities. The results
proved linear. Both carrageenan types yielded near zero order profiles in drug
release tablet formulations. The tablet compression pressures had little to no
effect on the profiles from 70 to 175 MPa. It was found out that while drug loading
increased from 5% to 20%, the exponent of diffusion decreased from 1.056 to
0.678. From zero order release, the breakup of tablets during the dissolution and
departure were the result of 30% drug loading. To predict the time for 50% release
as a function of the concentration of both types of carrageenan, the researchers used
multiple regression analysis, which was also used for microcrystalline cellulose, a
third filler material used in the setup. They concluded that the observed values and
the predicted values of the research were in good agreement and the R2 for the final

Chemical weapons are one of the most devastating and lethal weapons ever created
by humankind; they have caused massive destruction since their introduction in
World War One and still wreak havoc on today s battlefields. Chemical weapons
continue to be used all over the world on battlefields and against civilian populations,
unfortunately, very little has been done by the international community to prohibit
chemical weapons as only three international treaties have been created with the aim
to prohibit the manufacture and use of chemical weapons. As a result, the worsening
problem of production and deployment of chemical weapons proves that earlier
conventions have failed and new, stronger, conventions must be made by the
international community to prohibit further use of chemical weapons.
Chemical weapons are known to be one of the most dangerous weapons ever created,
but the general population is unaware of what a chemical weapon is and why it is
dangerous, this is one of the major reason why not enough has been done to prohibit
chemical weapons. The Chemical Weapons Conventiondefines chemical weapons as
toxic chemicals contained in a delivery system such as a bomb or a shell, that causes
death, injury, incapacitation or sensory harm. The effects of chemical weapons make

For many years now when we picture the quixotic American family our thoughts
often go to the suburbs. We visualize a family with a father, a mother and the
average 2.5 children. Perhaps, this stereotypical family has roots in the 1950 s.
After World War II, there was a substantial move from urban and rural areas to the
freshly sprouted suburbs. The GI bill, signed into law in 1944, provided significant
funding for this movement with low interest mortgage loans. (Moon, n.d.) Into the
twenty first century, the suburbs and metropolitan areas continued their growth.
(Frey, 2012) During the period the suburbs were in their genesis, a relatively new
medium, the television, was placing its roots as a staple in the suburban living room.
This device replaced the radio as a familys focal point for news and entertainment. In
the mid fifties, a new form of entertainment emerged, the family situation comedy
(sitcom). The show, Father Knows Best was credited as the first successful form of
the new style of comedy in 1954, and would have an extended run in broadcast and

milk. Then we will see a line between the milk vessel and the bread. I also see a line
from the bread basket in the left foreground to the maid s head. These lines
intersect at the maid s wrist, which lead us to the action that she is doing. Other
lines in the work are the window and framework, the edge of the table, the outline
of the woman s clothes, and the bottom of the wall. These implied lines are less
important than the line from the maid eyes. If you take a closer look, you will see a

details of the setting that plays many important parts in the novel. First of all, the
weather. The weather makes the novel more interesting. William Golding made
sure that the weather was perfect for this novel so that he can include much more
detail. He did this so when the children are stranded that they have a chance to
survive. He added that it was nice and warm for them to have a chance of survival.
Another point of the novel was the availability of food. Golding also made sure
that he included some sort of energy resource for the children so they would also

Both the epic poem Beowulf and the novel Grendel depict the same storyline, but
from different point of views. Grendel s personality tends to be much more evil than
he himself depicts in the novel. Since Grendel is the narrator of the novel, the
audience only gets to know what the story is like from his point of view, which he
stretches the truth on numerous occasions. But, in Beowulf, the poem has a narrator
and is in the third person omniscient, this means the audience knows how all the

The General Conference of the United Methodist Church voted in 1968 to abolish
the African American Central Jurisdiction and to merge all churches regardless of
race under the new United Methodist Church. It set a goal for each Annual
Conference area to merge together by 1972. South Carolina began discussions on
merger as early as 1966, but it took until 1972 to accomplish the goal. The two
conferences, the all white 1785 Conference, and the African American 1866
Conference merged at the 1972 Annual Conference meetings in Spartanburg. This
paper will focus on the issues that faced the merger starting with the first Plan for
Merger in 1970 until the completion of the merger in 1972.
The issue of merger for the South Carolina Annual Conference came at a time when
racial tensions were very high. A hotbed for the racial tensions in South Carolina was
Orangeburg. In 1968 the Orangeburg Massacre occurred where protestors of
segregation were killed by police officers. In the midst of this was Trinity United
Methodist church where, at times were meetings at the church every night. At the
time the NAACP was being led by I.D. Newman who was a Methodist minister. Not
all race relations in the state ended with violence. Clemson University was able to
integrate with little issues in 1963 when Harvey Gantt enrolled at Clemson, where

When it comes to conflict in the workplace, it is not a question of if it will occur,
but rather a question of when. There is also a question of how well managers will
deal with this conflict and if it will become constructive or destructive (Hynes, 2010,
p. 237). John Dewey recommends using a 6 stage process that reasonable individuals
can use to solve a problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey recommends first defining a
problem, analyzing a problem and then brainstorming possible answers to the

what must occur to eliminate a problem, choosing the best solution from identified

As most of our popular culture, everything is always changing. What is in while
we are teenagers will be ancient in 10 years. The same goes for the wardrobes of
women. I think that the clothing options have had a positive progression because

this week! As you heard from Judy, I will be looking at a poetry movement from the
16th Century, however my particular area of focus today is on the renowned
Metaphysical poet, John Donne, and his poem titled Woman s Constancy. Those of
you who are aware of Donne and his works will know of the challenging
perspectives his poems held towards the common ideologies of marriage, life and
death, religion and love, proposed by the Church of England.
Stylistically, Donne s poems often present disputes between two lovers, his satirical
and sometimes even sceptical interpretation of love and relationships, and also his
ties to his faith and religion (Locklear, 2014). Donne s visionary works led him to
become a sole initiator of the metaphysical style of poetry. The ideologies of the time
