Drastically, statistics indicate that Aboriginals are faced with more hardships throughout their life
compared to the average Canadian. Indigenous groups, particularly women, suffer from a lower

settler colonization history has played in perpetuating conditions for violenceto indigenous women,
many of which are still experienced today. This will be accomplished by first assessing the history

and hard thinking about what moment throughout my entire high school career was I most proud

During that race, I pulled off the fastest 800m time I have ever ran coming up to that race. So, I
was feeling on top of the world excited to go run the open 800m. When I got my position on the
starting line, I was lined up to a boy named Will Hengy. The week before the city meet my school
had a dual meet against the school he runs for. During the open 800m race that meet, him and I
were shoulder to shoulder coming down to the last 100m of the race and he barely beat me by
0.2 of a second. After that race I told myself in my mind I would never let myself lose a close
race to him ever again. Seeing him lined up right next to me with a #1 on his shoulder and my
shoulder only having a #5 on it made me mad. The gun goes off and the race begins. After the
first 400m of the race in I was in 3rd place right next to Will. This position felt bitter sweet and I
