Reflective Skills In Social Work
During placement I obtain many skills which are important to being a social workers. A few of
the skills which I learnt on placement were how to effectively use my interpersonal skills along
with my use of self and learnt how to recording information on the organisations database. These
skills link in with my learning plan, in particular my learning goal of participate in professional
practice with a focus on the use of self and practice standards. When I was on placement, I was a
part of a team which required me to use my interpersonal skills and use of self in a particular
way. By being a part of a team I had to comprehend how I was going to use my interpersonal
skills and use of self, for example I was using my personality, non verbal and verbal cues to
interact with clients and my team. Towards the end of placement I was provided with the
opportunity to use my self and interpersonal skills while working with a young girl. The way in
which I used my interpersonal skills was by sitting at the same level as the young girl and I
mirrored her behaviour in some sections of the meeting. When I was working with the young girl,
I made sure that there were no barriers such as a table in the middle of us. Another key skill which
I obtained was information recording by writing case notes and assessments. Throughout my
placement, I was able to use the Structured Decision Making (SDM) tools to conduct assessments
for the social workers regarding their clients referral. By doing

Stakeholder And Business Development Corporation Of...
The word stakeholder has been frequently used to refer to a person or organization which has close
financial relationship with company or enterprise, since 1990s. Stakeholder could include its
owners, staff, shareholders who are internal stakeholder, and external stakeholder, for example,
community, the government, and competitors. In this essay, stakeholder will include not everyone
to whom it may have a payoff (Bourne, 2007).
If an entity is owned and operate by an individual and there is no way to distinguish property of the
owner from the business, then it is called a sole trader. The business runner is in totally control of
every aspect of it and is responsible for any potential risk of the business which may include loss,
loans, and bankrupt. (Small Business Development Corporation of the Government of Western
Australia, 2015). In contrast, a PLC (is legally short for public limited company) is a type of limited
firm whose stocks may be freely bought and sold to the public (Longman Business Dictionary,
2007). These two business units have stakeholders, which affect them in different ways.
This essay is going to discuss the importance of different stakeholders. According to the traditional
view the shareholders are of primary importance in a company and all policies should serve their
needs first. Stakeholder theory mentions that there are other groups involved with the company.
Even contender is sometimes referred to as shareholders, their status being stated to

I. It bridges the gap between strategy and individual project. II. It provides a comprehensive body of
knowledge regarding what constitutes best practices in organizational project management. III. By
using OPM3, an organization can determine exactly which organizational project management best

improvements, OPM3 provides guidance on prioritizing and planning.
6. What kind of commitment is required to launch OPM3 in an organization?
The process of applying OPM3 in an organization is difficult to quantify. It depends on factors such
as the size, complexity and initial maturity of the organization, the thoroughness of the assessment,
the nature of the organization s strategic objectives, and the level of resources available also impact

The Ramayana Essay
The Ramayana Essay
The Ramayana by R.K. Narayan s is an epic story that provides insights into many aspects of
Indian culture and still today influences the politics, religion and art of modern India. He based
his novel on a poem from one of India s great Sanskrit epics also called Ramayana. He revived this
ancient story and condensed it and set in modern times. This is story of adventure and friendship
as well as a story of psychological insight, spiritual meaning and of wisdom. R.K. Narayan does an
excellent job of portraying all these aspects throughout his novel. The meanings of The Ramayana
are found through the actions and personalities of its principal characters. It is part of the sacred

Soorpanaka is jealous of Sita but is chopped up by Lakshmana and flees to Ravana for help.
Ravana is the king Lanka; he has ten heads and twenty arms. Soorpanaka describes Sita in such
graphic detail that Ravana immediately falls in love with her. Ravana tricks Sita while Rama is away
and captures her and takes her away in a chariot.
Rama is upset to discover Sita s disappearance and he and Lakshmana head out to find her. On
their travels through the forests they meet Sugreeva and Hanuman. Hanuman and Sugreeva
promise to help Rama in his search for Sita. Sugreeva and Hanuman organizes a huge army of
their own people. They cannot find her and Rama becomes so discouraged he thinks of suicide.
Until Hanuman finds out he can be any size he wants so he travels to Lanka. There he talks to Sita
but on his way out is caught by Ravana. Hanuman becomes big again and destroys Ravana s city.
Rama then builds a giant bridge to Lanka. Everyone helped in the construction of this bridge.
And Rama finally reaches Lanka. He then fights Ravan himself and badly humiliates him and
defeats him with the help of the gods who are tired of Ravana s evilness. The final battle
between them is crazy. The air is filled with arrows but Rama manages to fend them all off. Then
a lot of different asthras are employed by both guys. When Rama chops off Ravana s heads and
arms they regrow as quickly as they are severed. In the end Rama uses the Brahmasthra

False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay
False Confessions
The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most
incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove
anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The
events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at
the very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to
determine his involvement with Denice Haraway s disappearance. The agent who administered
the test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may
have been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a
false evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an
attempt to get the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to
confess, but if the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have
evidence for a crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that
they have evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The
persistence of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect.
Ward s interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56).
The questioning was also

Four Component Factors Of White Collar Crime And...
Most of the white collar offenders have a high social and economic status, usually using their
duties to commit crimes, such as buying short positions, piling the balance sheet, manipulating
the stock market, corruption, fraud, fraud, bribery, personal income tax, selling economic
intelligence The US white collar crime is very serious, the economic losses caused by far more
than blue collar crime in the robbery, theft and other violations of property caused by economic
losses. White collar crime is manifested in a variety of forms, including the agreement to lower
prices, fraud, corruption, tax evasion, damage to the principle of trust, bribery in advertising and
marketing fraud, manipulation of stock transactions and other crimes. Sax s white collar crime
is defined from the perspective of social criticism, used to distinguish the lower class society

the behavior of the actors in the social class on the performance of the attribution. White collar
crime has four constituent factors: (1) Acts committed by the society in respect of the destruction
of criminal law (2) Most of the perpetrators have a higher social status and economic status (3) The
offense is committed in the profession or in the professional activity (4) Often the offense may

Brain and Behavior of Men and Women Essay
If we were to examine a high school calculus classroom or the staff at an engineering program of a
college or university, chances are that the male to female ratio would be significantly skewed. Why
are women and men so different in their choices and behavior? The brunt of popular opinion
focuses on the environmental cues that lead to our distinct behaviors. But is there also an innate
biological basisto the choices and differing abilities between men and women? Cognitive
functioning or brainprocessing differences in the two genders has been a point of interest and
contention for many years. The purpose of this essay is to explore if neuroanatomical and genetic
differences between males and females play a role in the development of... Show more content on

Contrary to popular belief, gender and anatomical sex refer to two distinct and separate constructs
as each develops at different times and in different parts of the body. John Money coined the
phenomenon that codes for masculinity or femininity as Gendermaps (1). At a very early age and
through an interaction of both nature and nurture, this gendermap imprint is established. What
makes gender identification and sex so frequently parallel to each other is that gendermap
evolvement is notably also induced by hormones that emanate from the developing fetus (1).
Behavioral Differences:
Though there are many similarities in the cognitive abilities of men and women, there are also
discernible differences. For the most part, the behavioral differences between the intellectual
capacities of the sexes have to do more with patterns of ability than the actual intellectual capacity
(3). For one, attention and perception differ early on. Baby girls have been noted to gaze longer at
objects than baby boys. Later they rely on landmarks and memory for guidance. Boys on the other
hand, have a better visual spatial ability such as aiming at stationary or moving targets and
detecting minor movements in their visual fields more easily. The fact that males perform better in
navigation seems to agree with the possible theory that evolutionarily, many of these abilities would
have been important for survival in the time of

How To Describe A Jazz Concert
I attended the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The
concert was located in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall at 7:30p.m. The band played a total of
eight different songs, varying in the types of jazz. I perceived the overall mood of the whole
concert as energizing, powerful, and uplifting. I was also able to apply much of the knowledge that
I learned in class to the event. To begin with, the concertstarted out with a piece from Count Basie
called Hay Burner. This piece was done by a big band, a band with many instruments and
musicians, and that is exactly how it was performed by the University of Indianapolis Jazz
Ensemble. The band had a total of four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm
sections. Throughout the piece, the band focused mostly on the ensemble rather than the soloist,
however, the alto saxophone did have a solo. This piece reminded me mostly of the boogie
woogie style of jazz, due to its bluesy tones and driving piano style.... Show more content on

However, each song was heavily syncopated. The next song that really stuck out to me was
originally performed by John Coltrane. The song featured many notes and different Coltrane
changes. Coltrane changes are when the chord progressions were even more complex than bebop.
The song, Impressions, to me did not seem to fit into any category that was learned in the
classroom. It mostly just sounded like an upbeat flourish of notes. Both the trombones and trumpets
used mutes, giving their instrument an airy, deeper sound. They used those at the beginning and
end of the song, giving it a unique

The Temperature Dependence Of Magnetization M ( T )
Next, the temperature dependence of magnetization M(T) curves of Mn3Cu1 xGdxN under a
magnetic field of 100 Oe is shown in Figure 3. For x = 0.15, decreasing from 300 to 147 K, the
ZFC and FC curves are virtually indistinguishable, and then an abrupt magnetic transition from
PM to FM with a pronounced ZFC FC irreversibility appears at a TC of ~146 K, as shown in
Figure 3a. Noticeably, with a slightly increase in the Gd content from 0.15 to 0.17, the M(T) curves
(Figure 3b) exhibit entirely different features, in which two magnetic transitions are clearly
observed. One is the typical PM FM phase transition located at high temperature (TC1), and the
other is the FM antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at low temperature (TC2). Further increasing
the Gd content, the TC1 shifts to high temperatures (from 164 to 239 K), while the TC2 gradually
moves towards low temperature (from 118 to 99 K) as demonstrated in Figures 3c and 3d. In
addition, to further verify the low temperature magnetic features, the temperature dependent high
magnetic fieldmagnetization was measured under 20 kOe, as shown in the insets of Figures 3a d.
Obviously, a typical AFM peak is observed from the inset as displayed in Figures 3b d, and the
decreased slope of PM FM transition suggest that it is the second order transition induced by Gd
doping. For Mn3CuN, the structural phase transition brings a three dimensional geometrical
frustration in Mn6N octahedron 45, and then the next nearest neighbor (Mn N Mn)

One leadership strengths I possess is that I am a very good public speaker and am able to easily

The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar...
The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to
have fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical
story telling that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was
inspired by the 1931 stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and
playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs. Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider
Oklahoma! in relation to its source material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to
redefine the genre, the eventual product was radically different from the play on which it was
based. The changes made by the duo induce an entirely different tone, presenting the audience
with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s childhood observations of the social, legal and
cultural changes that took place in the midst of Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard
Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens, New York to respected physician Dr.
William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (nГ©e Levy). In his autobiography, Musical Stages,
he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household, the death of his
grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). He continues, From that
time on, my parents, my brother, and I were Jewish for socioethnic reasons rather than because of
any deep religious conviction (pg. 4). Though Rodgers formal training of the piano began at age

Camera Techniques: This type of filming technique was used very well in this film because in

The Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson
Shirley Jackson emphasizes appearance vs. reality in the short story The Possibility of Evil
because looks can be deceiving. Looks can shape how we think of people and in reality they could
be the opposite.
Shirley Jackson s short story The Possibility of Evil is set in the 1950 s in a small town that
reveals the contradiction between appearances vs. reality. In the story it states, The sun was
shining, the air was fresh and clear after the nights heavy rain, and everything in Miss
Strangeworths little town looked washed and bright (Jackson, 223)
Miss Strangeworths town seems nice and perfect. Everyone knows each other very well but are all
oblivious to the fact that each and every one of them have evil lurking inside of them. In the short
story Lessons of Love by Judith Ortiz Cofer, the Puerto Rican girl thinks of the senior as a very
perfect and attractive person. But after he kisses her, she realizes that he is no longer what she had
thought about him and is just a player who enjoys playing with the hearts of many girls. Even
though something or someone may look good on the outside, they may not be the same on the
inside. Therefore, I think that appearance vs. reality was shown in the setting of this story.

Arendt would comprehend this issue to be similar to the Nazi Germany and the Stalinist Soviet
Union and Arendt would very much approve of Tariq Ramadan view because he understands that
once one falls into the terrorist scheme and discriminate towards the Western Muslims, it would be
very problematic and idiotic. This is where Ramadan has stated that; we need to be consistent as to
our condemnation of the consequences in our analysis of the cause and the principles we stand for.
Therefore, it is important to not only live together by principles and right but predominantly the

Her definition of thinking is not just simply using one s mind to form of ideas, but rather,
beyond the reflective mode of rationality (The Guardian, 2011). No one but the mind itself can
form evil, and I agree with Arendt because the one s in authority would be powerless if people
were in their righteous mind to say no. And of course, people believe evil acts could be based on
their own selfishness, greed and delusions but that is what Arendt would perceive it to be
thoughtlessness. Reflectively, the mind is very crucial to decision making and if evil is banal, it
is everyone s responsibility to remove it. Arendt has repetitively emphasizes that the mind is so
powerful to the point that it can be destructive and only the mind itself is our foe. This is generally
because if we were to ever stop thinking, we can be in the same position as the perpetrator ourselves

Why Do Young Adults Move Into Share Housing
The allure of house sharing: Strangers and a mutual microwave
Michaela Daly
ABSTRACTSocial change within the western context has redefined the concepts of adulthood and
house formation . Despite an increasing decline in marriage between the ages of 20 and 29, young
individuals continue to leave their parental homes. The previous literature identifies both social and
economic motivations what continues to be this defining moment of independence. This research
project attempts to demonstrate the reasons for which young adults seeking such independence
engage in share housing.
Background
Share housing has become increasingly popular since the mid twentieth century (Goldsheider
DaVanzo 1989). Once assumed to be a product of economic constraint, particularly among students,
share house living has since become a representation of modern adulthood. Historically, marriage
was the most powerful motivator for young adults, particularly women, to leave their parental home
(Pooley and Turnbull 1997). Between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, the transition to
adulthood was defined by, and adult identity rooted in, the attainment of spousal status with the
formulation of a family to follow (Kenyon Heath 2001b). The wealth of literature on the transition
to adulthood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overarching enquiries of this research seek to determine: What age do young adults move into
share houses? Was the move into a share house voluntary or involuntary? Are economic
considerations apparent in the choice to join a share house? To what degree do social

The Life Of Saint Paul s Name After The Conversion Of...
Saint Paul s name before his conversion to Christianity was Saul, an individual who devoted his
life to the persecution of Christians and early disciples in Jerusalem. He was a Hebrew from the
tribe of Benjamin, a Pharisee, and someone who is very literate in Judaism faith as well. He was
born into a devout Jewish family in Tarsus of Cilicia, hence known as Saul of Tarsus, one of the
major trade centers on the Mediterranean Coast in present day Turkey. During his early life, he
was sent to Jerusalem to receive his education in classical literature, philosophy, law, and ethics
under Rabbi Gamaliel. Saul s early profession was tent making, which eventually became the initial
connection with Priscilla and Aquila whom he partnered with and became vital mates as
missionaries . Furthermore, he took an active part in the martyrdom of Saint Stephen, first martyr
and deacon, by giving his approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him .
Following his approval of the mob s murderous actions, Saul ravaged the church, entering the homes
of believers, committing them to prison, and even locking up female believers.
On his way to Damascus from Jerusalem to further his persecution against Christians, Jesus
appeared to him in a great light, he fell on the ground, and heard a powerful voice that said unto
him, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me ? Thus, according to the accounts in the book of Acts,
Saint Paul s conversion took place on the road to Damascus, where he

Where Am I Wearing Summary
When I first heard the title Where am I Wearing, I wasn t too excited about reading it. I thought
it would be another boring school book that I was required to study. However, after reading a
few chapters, I became intrigued and started to enjoy reading it. Kelsey Timmerman isn t just
another activist who is trying to convince you to stop buying clothes from big companies who
use sweat shops and chid laborers. He is giving you a perspective into the lives of those who work
in these factories and how they function in their everyday lives. It was interesting to hear the
different encounters that he had with these people. Timmerman presents us with the ongoing
concern of are sweatshops and globalization good for the people who live in these countries or do
they do more harm then good? Timmerman sets up visits to factories in countries like Bangladesh,
Cambodia, China, and the United States. As an american consumer, Timmerman is on a mission.
He chooses his favorite articles of clothing and goes to see who and under what conditions they
were made. Along with inspecting the factories, he goes to hang out with the individuals and the
families who work in the factories. He is not just interested in the factories... Show more content on

I realized that these questions don t just apply to our clothes. I started asking myself where am I

brings up many important issues in the book but paces them well. Instead of just bringing up a
point and telling us how he feels about it, he tells us the issue and then lets it soak in our minds
for a while, while telling of his experiences before he tells us his opinions. He addressed the issues
from a different perspective. One that someone who hadn t actually

Freudian Slip Essay
Introduction
Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and
was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as
a set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone
possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that
peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people
will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. (Cherry, What is
Psychoanalysis?, 2016)
Freud s theory of slips of the tongue and pen Sigmund Freud theory is formed based on peoples

The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown
An alarm is sounded in the Grand Gallery of the most famous art museum in the world, Paris
Musee du Louvre. The Judicial Police find the body of renowned curator Jacques Sauniere
naked and positioned as Da Vinci s Vitruvian Man. As a result of a message left by the deceased,
Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology at Harvard University, was beckoned to the
crime scene by Bezu Fache, captain of the Central Directorate Judicial Police. During Landon and
Fache s view of the crime scene and the coded message that the deceased left using his own body
as part of that message, Officer Sophie Neveu from the Cryptology Department joined the meeting
under the pretense that she had deciphered the coded message. In the meantime, Bishop Manuel
Aringarosa, a president general of the Opus Dei, is traveling to Rome at the direction of The
Teacher . The Opus Dei is the fastest growing and most financially secure Catholic organization in
the world. However, many thought that it was a brain washing cult due to the vigorous following of
Catholic doctrine including vows of chastity, tithing and atonement for sins through a self
flagellation and the chalice. Aringarosa s enlisted pupil, Silas, who is an albino that the bishop had

The inhabitants of Africa have sparked my curiosity with their unusual actions and supposed
incredulity towards our benevolent race. As such I have monitored the behaviour and actions of the
savage inhabitants to understand ways in which to subdue their barbaric nature, that threatens the
Modern way of life. Many would argue that these people remain devoid of structure, however our

They have evolved in its primitive regions and are well suited to the hot and dangerous country,
however, this evolutionary process follows that of the local wildlife where higher thought has not
been made evident in these people as they engage in primitive rituals in which they murder each
other as well as their children. One cannot expect them to reach the level of sophistication that the
Western man has obtained.
Despite the often savage and barbaric behaviour of the primitive, I believe that they can be broken
into their rightful roles. In the words of Thomas More, You wouldn t abandon a ship in a storm just
because you couldn t control the winds, from the aptly named book Utopia.

sophisticated civilization for everybody around the globe and allow the human race to transcend
from these base forms. These people present themselves in a manner as willing to accept the
perception of them as barbaric, most likely due to their unyielding connection with the land and the
wildlife. To remove their land and rituals, would be to remove an amount of meaning from their
supposedly dull lives. Since occupying Africa I have discovered that they have the potential to work

Evaluation Methods For Best Electronics
After evaluating Best Electronics website using three different usability evaluation methods which
are observations, questionnaires and heuristics evaluation.
These usability evaluation methods allowed us to recognize the major flaws of the website, also
assisted to identify the key features and aspects of the website which have to be improved.
The first aspect needs to be changed within the website is the colors and the font size used
throughout the entire website. Based on the heuristics evaluation we performed, the font size used
in the website is big, which makes reading the content uncomfortable, also there are many colors
used in the website without any professionalism , which led to make the website unattractive, also

It is one of the biggest flaws of the website, for this reason it is essential to create enough space
between the paragraphs and images so the viewer has space to breathe, minimize the paragraphs
size of the content, divide large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural
and appropriate, avoid content clutter especially on the homepage, present information in more
precise and ordered way to minimize the scrolling required, and finally, organize the content with
respect to the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. All these steps must be
taken to accomplish three of our usability goals (effective home page, Clarity of the interface,
Motivating website), as well as to meet two of the Windows Interface Guidelines, aesthetics and
simplicity .
Another aspect is the lack of menu, quick links and search engine, based on our observations,
users were not able to find different kinds of information they were looking for, and the reason
for that is because the website does not offer any menu or quick links to allow users to navigate
quickly, additionally, the website does not have a search engine which allows users to find
products quickly, so one goal when redesigning the website is to build a main menu, and

Bitter And Sweet Pdf
I read the book The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. For this book I will be analyzing how
the author s choices brings the text together and how the structure and craft affect my
understanding of what constitutes a family. I will be using textual evidence from the story to show
how the author s choices and my further understanding relates to the book and the real world.
First, the author uses word craft to bring the text together by using details and imagery. On page

shows how the author introduces the setting of the story. The story mostly takes place in 1942
during World War II in Seattle s Chinatown and Japantown. However, the story does jump to
1986 when Henry is older and has a son. The author s purpose is to mainly describe the setting of

Welfare Against Mandatory Minimum Law
Families Against Mandatory Minimum also known as FAMM advocate for smart sentencing such
as individualized and fair criminal sentencing that protect the public. FAMM is nonprofit supported
by attorneys, judges, criminal justice experts and concerned citizens. Their objectives include:
uncrowding jails, which use citizens tax money, shift resources from uncrowded jails due to
excessive incarceration to other departments such as law enforcement and additional programs
whose aims include reducing crimeand recidivism, and lastly, encourage individuals who have
suffered from mandatory minimum sentencing and whose lives have been harmed by these
practices to be constructive. To achieve their goal of fair sentencing, FAMM advocates for their
objectives on a state and national level. Sometimes FAMM gets involved in appeals and works
with lawyers, however most of the time FAMM just does presentations for governmental positions
such as Congress or the U.S. Supreme court, asking for change. In addition, FAMM encourages
people to call their local representatives and spread the word, realizing there is strength in numbers
( Sentencing that, 2014). There are several ongoing projects working towards their goal. The
Massachusetts Project is an initiative where FAMM is working on changing drug sentencing laws
and the for the Florida Project FAMM is working on drug and gun laws where there are no

The Need For A Job For American Society
The need for a job in American society is vital and not having one in today s society can cause
major financial problems for an individual or a whole family. An average American, typically
works eight hour shifts and sometimes even put in overtime to meet their needs. After an
exhausting day at work, people tend to get hungry and the infamous question of what to eat begins
to occupy every inner thought. Some are not only wondering what they should eat for dinner, but
most of these workers also have a family to come home to and feed. People come home tired,
lacking motivation to do anything, and the thought of having to prepare dinner for themselves or
their family sounds discouraging. On the way home from work, everyone is bound to see a fast food
restaurant of some sort, waiting for potential consumers in the street corner, illuminated by an
infamous neon sign. The temptation to stop by and grab a quick meal is overwhelming, but there is
always one jumbled up thought that suggests preparing a meal at home would be wiser. The typical
American citizen has to fight a mental battle on deciding where they should take their health and
how it will benefit them in the long run. Though most individuals who visit these fast food
establishments can care less about the nutritionvalue behind their favorite meals, it is an important
component to consider when buying at these places. With working from nine to five and coming

Statement of Purpose for My Passion for Culinary Arts
Culinary art is a momentous part of my life. When I was around the age of nine I was living with
both my mom and dad. I was always in the kitchen helping my mom cook dinner. I made baked
ziti, empanadas, sweet potato pie, and other foods. When I was in high school, I lived with my
father, and after my older siblings grew up it was just me and my little sister so I was responsible
for cookingthe meals. I was cooking for my family an average of seven days a week and I was
never tired or bored, I enjoyed it. I developed a strong passion for culinary arts. I am passionate
about it because it excites me, inspires me, and encourages me to open a restaurant.
To begin with, the culinary arts is my passion because it excites me. The culinary arts is a
competitive field and I love the thrill of competition. It allows me to reach the height of my
potential, in addition, compare my skills with other people who have the same passion as I do.
While I m cooking my senses explode when the collaboration of components create sensational
textures, aromas, and colors. When I m baking I enjoy the science involved with timing,
measuring, and patience as the results always excites me. For instance, it excites me how a French
croissant starts as a dough and transforms into a beautiful golden crescent with layers of soft, flaky,
and buttery pastry inside. The ingenuity is also what excites me about culinary arts because
everything is art, from plate decorations, to the food its self. I

Links Between Organisational Objectives And Personal...
Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to
steer their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the
mission statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in
together and have a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield,
2000). Although organisational objectives can hold a negative attribute to employee s personal
development, if the company invests time into employees PDP and employees can see that there
is a plan in place for job promotion, then they re more likely to keep their staff (Cotton, 2011). A
future plan will add value to the business as it will improve employee s skills and personal

Summary Of Jane Goodall s Memoir With Phillip Berman,...
Coming to Terms in Faith Jane Goodall s memoir with Phillip Berman, Reason for Hope talks about
how a women s journey to come to terms with faith through the experiences in Tanzania. Her
journey toward this goal started from her religious childhood, which led her with chimpanzees at
the Gombe Forest in Tanzania. By believing in her faith into traveling to Tanzania, Jane saw the
good in chimpanzees and humans and developed faith in them. When Jane was growing up, she
grew up in a religious family. From that she always been fascinated to become a martyr,

During World War II, she hated Joseph Stalin because he was controlling the communist country of
Russia. She wanted to support the Christians that are in Russia. Jane explains in her memoir
Reasons for Hope, This daydreaming made me come to terms with human brutality, suffering,
courage idealism and even faith. (Goodall 26). This childhood dream of being in the star role
helped her forget her worries about what she is going to do in the future. This is amazing for Jane
because not many people at her age that have the courage to step up for what they believe that is
right. Although Ms. Goodall realized the human brutality and suffering of humanity that also
included faith, this knowledge benefited her when she set foot in the African continent of Tanzania.

The Occupy Wall Street Movement and Ensuing Controversy Essay
On September 17, 2011 hundreds of people began to gather in Zuccotti Park, New York which is
Wall Street s financial district under the banner Occupy Wall Street : these three simple words are
causing an uproar in America (Engler). Additionally, these three words happen to be protesting the
current status of America s financial condition. With the economy in America being as terrible as it
is, and the unemployment rate skyrocketing, it is absolutely necessary for some sort of change to
occur. The Occupy Wall Street protesting is most positively a progressive step for the economic
state in America and it is a step in the right direction.

Occupy Wall Street symbolizes their frustrations through the various occupying demonstrations,
signs, and most notably, their slogan: We are the 99% representing the growing inequality of the
wealthiest 1% of America s population and the rest of the country s citizens. The top 1% has more
than doubled their income over the last thirty years according to a Congressional Budget Office
(CBO) report. In 2007, the richest 1% owned 34.6% of the country s total wealth. After the Great
Recession and economic crisis the amount of the country s total wealth owned by the 1% grew
from 34.6% to 37.1%.
Now that it is known what characteristics of America Occupy Wall Street wants to improve or
simply eliminate, how exactly does this group plan to carry out these goals? This is one of the
primary criticisms of the movement. Many people believe that Occupy Wall Street lacks logical and
understandable demands (Stoeffel). However, anyone who studies this group will know precisely
what this social movement wishes to be accomplished. As stated before, Occupy Wall Street wants
more and better jobs, a more equal distribution of wealth and a diminution of the influence that big
businesses have on American government. Nevertheless, how is still an issue, but is it the average
99% of citizens duty to know how to fix a system that more than one group is unhappy with?
Another element of Occupy Wall Street s criticism is that there is no particular person in this
situation to blame. This

initially began manufacturing cars and light trucks through a joint venture with Ford. However,
by the early 1970s Hyundai was ready to build cars under its own name by debuting its

Hyundai then introduced the Hyundai Excel in 1985. That very year the company established a

How Gender Roles Are Predetermined by the Environment
How gender roles are predetermined by the environment
What is male? What is female? The answers to these questions everyone may depend on the
types of gender roles they were exposed to as a child. Gender roles can be defined as the behaviours
and attitudes expected of male and female members of a society by that society.
Basically to make it clear the pattern of masculine or feminine behaviours of an individual that is
defined by a particular culture and that is largely determined by a child s upbringing is what is
calls gender roles. Gender roles vary. Different cultures impose different expectations upon the men
and women who live in that culture. A person s sexuality comes from within him or her making a

Canadian Law Enforcement Essay
Taser Changes go Ahead , an article published in the Alberta News in February, indicates that the
RCMP is moving forward and will be instituting some previously described changes into its 2011
Police Manual framework. The framework is currently being reviewed and will later be reviewed
and approved by the Albertan Solicitor General. The 16 recommendations made by the Braidwood
inquiry, including yearly re trainings, monthly quality and adherence audits, as well as updated
procedures based on the minimization of any potentially adverse health effects to the subject,
should be reflected in the final version of the manual for 2011. This establishment of the project by

The evolutionary histories of the technology and its associated manufacturing corporations have
always resulted in design deficiencies that have prevented the device from making it to the market.
However, with TaserInternational the company collectively refined the device based on the
failures of previous manufacturers and began marketing the device to law enforcement agencies as
from 1998 onward.
Before Taser International, Jack Cover invented the TF 76 in the mid 1970s. It is now
considered the primary source of the modern CED or CEW s. The TF 76 originally fired two
darts that were propelled by gunpowder to reach a target up to 15 feet away. The TF 76 was
initially viewed as a dangerous weapon that was severely restricted resulting in a barrier of entry
into many markets including that of the law enforcement agencies.
However, in 1998 the CEO of Taser International introduced the M26 as the next new product. As
supported by the information in the advertisements found on the homepage of Taser International
the M26 was a model far more superior to any Taser model since its invention. The M26 was
viewed as an enormous breakthrough because it provided Electro Muscular Disruption (EMD)
which instigated an involuntary muscle contraction within the subject. However, the latest model
being the X26 was developed to address the

Theropod Dinosaurs Research Paper
Dinosaurs capture the attention of children and adults alike, and many people think that they are
long gone. You might be surprised to find that they are not extinct, but rather perching in your
backyard. The theory that theropods evolved into birds was proposed nearly a century and a half
ago and is supported by more and more modern evidence. You will find that the distinction between
birds and dinosaurs will become difficult, as they have so many parallels. The similarities between
birds and dinosaurs strongly suggest that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs.
The theory that theropod dinosaurs are the ancestors of modern birds originated after the discovery
of Archeopteryx lithographica in 1861 in Solnhofen, Germany. Thomas Huxley, a strong supporter
of Charles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ratites and penguins are two groups of flightless birds we have today. The origin of flight is an
ongoing debate from scientists, but there are two main theories: that flight evolved arboreally or
that it evolved from ground dwelling dinosaurs. Both have compelling evidence. The theory that
flight started in the trees begins with WAIR (Wing Assisted Incline Running). Discovered in 2001
by Ken Dial at the University of Montana, it is the way many ground dwelling birds get into trees
to rest at night. These birds would flap their wings back and forth (rather than up and down) to
generate traction. The larger the wing size, the steeper the angle a bird could run up (Holtz 149).
Also supporting this theory is the presence of toes adapted for perching in several species of
dinosaurs. From there, the dinosaurs could have glided from tree to tree and eventually taken
flight. A ground dwelling origin of flight also has convincing evidence. A study found that non
avian feathered theropods could get a boost of speed by flapping their wings (Sloan 51). Therefore,
longer feathers and bigger wings meant faster speeds until flight could

In addition, the mentor assigned found the job of mentoring less stressful resulting in a relationship
of mutual understanding (Busen Engebretson, 1999). In addition, a novice can be a competent
nurse or expert nurse starting a new job (Benner, 1984). Second, Benner et al (2009) describe the
advanced beginner level as a nurse who has acquired their degree and starting out in practice, as a
newly graduated nurse with significant experience. The advanced beginner will begin to understand
the important features to this level, to differentiate between this level and the novice level Benner
called these features situational because the focus of this model is the actual performance of the
nurse and the results that occur in a specific situation. For example, the nurse begins to recognize
changes that occur before any obvious complications develop (intuition); this is possible when the
nurse has had a sufficient amount of hands on experience. Finally, at this level a mentor will
prepare the advanced beginner with further guidelines in their clinical profession. However, the
advanced beginner is still attempting to organize the importance of tasks that need completing for
the patient and the different stages of the illness the patient goes through. Furthermore, Baltimore
(2004) indicates that current work places are encountering insufficient orientation adding, to the
challenges the nurse is already experiencing. Third, the competent nurse who has

Evolution Of Mimicus Essay
Walking past a fancy poster of a famous model with the most amazing body, have you ever
wished you could change your body instantly to make it look like that model? The mimic octopus,
Thaumoctopus mimicus, is able to alter its body shape and colour to mimic up to 15 different
species. Although mimicry of background patterns and textures is a common defence mechanism
for the species under class Cephalopoda, mimicking of individual animals in the absence of the
model is a unique feature in T.mimicus. It chooses to make itself more conspicuous to predators by
mimicking high contrast colour patterned species. The mimic octopus is the best example of the
Batesian mimics. It is only found in the estuarine bays of Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a... Show

The order in which the T.mimicus lineage evolved was based on several key traits. The
ancestors of T.mimicus evolved the use of bold colour patterns as the secondary defence
mechanism to shock and surprise the predators if camouflage failed. Additionally, the long arms
were developed which facilitates the motion of flatfish swimming technique. Finally, an
extremely risky shift in defence strategy was developed as the T.mimicus began displaying the
bold colour patterns while mimicking a flatfish2. Dr Christine Huffard says that the close
relatives of T.mimicus used drab colours and camouflage quite successfully to hide from
predators1. However, it is assumed that as a result of natural selection, being conspicuous has
allowed it to reproduce and survive more successfully than some of its less conspicuous ancestors
and eventually evolved into its own lineage (clearly shown in Figure 1). The life span in captivity
has been reported to be only months or even days with the highest reported life span being less
than a year. Commercial trade and pet trade of these octopuses could seriously harm the population
of the mimic octopus in the

Diabetes Persuasive Research Papers
Studies continue to show a troubling health trend: the instances of diabetes, particularly type 2,
are on the rise in this country. Characterized by insulin resistance (insulin is not effective in the
body) and elevated blood glucose levels, type 2 diabetes can result in both neural and metabolic
dysfunction and lead to cardiovascular disease. When we eat carbohydrates, our blood glucose
levels rise, either quickly or slowly. Either way, once glucose has been released into the blood
stream, the body can move it out of the blood stream in two ways by storing it or by getting rid of
it through uptake by the muscles. The problem with diabetics of course is that storage of glucose
requires mediation by insulin, and this natural pathway is impaired by the disease. As I discussed
in my last blog post, aerobic exercise has been shown to increase muscle glucose uptake and
improve insulin sensitivity. That s why most diabetes management plans include... Show more

functional movements exactly? They are movements that reflect the best aspects of
weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing and more. I love CrossFit because it focuses on the
core movements of life. Lifting a barbell over and over is not a real life movement. But squatting
down to pick up a heavy bag is. And, these exercises maximize the amount of work done in the
shortest time. Of course, if you prefer to go to the gym (or set up a home gym) to use free
weights or weight machines, that s fine to. The idea here is to simply start incorporating
resistance exercises into your diabetic maintenance program. If you have the budget, I highly

The War I Left Men Wound Mentally And Physically
For World War I left men wound mentally and physically. About thirty one percent of the men
were either wounded in the line of fire or had nightmares of what happen in the trenches (Brose,
111). For example, a soldier named Paul saw his fellow soldier, Behm get struck in the eye with
a shell in the line of fire (Remarque, 12). These sights caused men to repress their worries
because they did not want to die in the war. In order for them to survive, they had to come to the
realization to repress the questions of why they were fighting and what they were fighting for out
of their minds (Remarque, 138). By the 1920 s the warfare had increased, but in a way that was

Moreover, the Russian Revolution was the outcome of the communist party wanting to have
complete control over the citizens in Russia. They displayed this idea with their thoughts about
removing the practice of religion. They saw religion as an opium, for they believed it caused the
people to be inactive mainly the working class (Brose, 167). For they saw religion as a malicious
idea, which caused them to see churches as a danger to the bourgeoisie because they believed that
the proletarians were planning evil events against them (Brose, 167). Eisenstein demonstrated the
communist oppression of religion with the jester on the cross in the priest s hand as being a
weapon (Bordwell, 66). When the priest in Battleship Potemkin was stroking the cross as a dagger.
Another example in the film was when he was tapping the cross in hand while the guards were
getting ready to kill the workers. He tapped the cross three times like a hypnotist hypnotizing them
from shooting the workers. This perspective that Stalin and the communist party had made a major
impact on the culture within Russia, just like other political groups had done in other countries,
especially in Germany. Germany after World War Iand around the time of the Russian Revolution
had experienced a culture change. People within Europe had begun to attend theaters, athletic
events, and more to escape from the reality of the aftermath of the wars (Brose, 145). During

What Is Kant s Categorical Imperative
In order to evaluate whether one s actions are moral, we use many moral dilemmas. One of them
is Kant s categorical imperative. This essay presents Kant s project of categorical imperative.
Then, I will explain that rulers should appeal to Kant s categorical imperative when making
foreign policy decision. In order to support my point of view, I will give importance to the reasons
of why rulersappeal to categorical imperativewhen making foreign policy, so I have two reasons for
this. One of them is that states depend on each other in economically and politically. Thus, in order
to provide this stability which means that continue to stay among other states, states shouldact
through the principles of categorical imperative which are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to explain the first reason of why rulers should appeal to categorical imperative when
making foreign policy decisions, we can think about the growing trade between the states. States
become more interdependent when trades among various states expand. Interdependence is not
only important economically but also politically because all economic or business activity
depends on political positions of the states. When states trade between each other, they become
mutually dependent on each other s political advantages. Also, world markets are influenced by
politics and state s power in the world markets depends on its foreign policy. So, states should
establish good relations with other states. For this reason, when making foreign policy decisions,
ruler should appeal to categorical imperative. Firstly, rulers actions must be universally valid. If
state s foreign decisions are internally valid, then state cannot benefit from this politically and
economically. For example, if the state decide to change the price of its export goods up without
approval of other states, then states could not sell its goods whose price increase, because other
states want to buy the same goods from another country whose price is cheaper. Second point is
that if state s intention is bad and this kind of intention is understood by other states, this state is
reproached by other states, which have a relation with this state. As a result of

The Most Dangerous Game Analysis
In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game , Richard Connell uses multiple devices to create
suspense that readers may not be aware of. He uses figurative language, imagery, and the pacing
of his story to keep readers on the edge of their seats. In this short story, a hunter named Sanger
Rainsford meets General Zaroff, a friendly middle aged man on Ship Trap Island. The general
later reveals his true character through his gruesome actions. Figurative language is used
greatly throughout this short story. When one of Rainsford s comrades, named Whitney, asks
Captain Nielsen about Ship Trap Island, Whitney calls him fishy and worried at the time.
Though when the yacht passses the island, he admits that he feels the evil energy radiating from
it. In addition to that, when Rainsford finally reaches the island, he claims that he is safe from
the sea. On the yacht, Whitney declares that Captain Nielsen s fishy blue eyes held a look ...
never saw there ... . (Connell, page 1) Even the seafaring captain was terrified of Ship Trap
Island! This is comparing Captain Nielsen s blue eyes to a fish s eyes. His eyes are suspicious
and he is alert for any possible signs of danger to his yacht or crew. The captain is taking extra
precautions to ensure that they don t land on the deadly island, which causes the readers to wonder
what is so dreadful about Ship Trap Island. When Rainsford reaches the island, he claims that he is
finally safe from the sea. He realizes this from the muttering

Introduction
Kites for centuries have been an interesting object of flight fascinating people all over the world.
The standard diamond kite can be made at home simply with 2 wooden dowels, plastic sheeting,

at home you can also design it whatever way you like. It s become an unpopular activity for as
you can see technology has advanced, but today I ll be presenting to you the history and

have studied; the aerodynamics of kites, and different ways to create the kite and maintain flight.
As there are many designs of the kite Lawrence Hargrave was one creator to make the first box
kite. Lawrence was born in 1850 in Greenwich England. In 1872 he came to Australia in search of
gold but the ship was wrecked on side the Queensland coast. 1883 he retired and devoted the
remainder of his life to research working into problems connected with human flight. http:/

Different Kite Designs
There are different types of kites such as the standard diamond, box kite, sled, delta and winged
box. They re easy to make at home simply googling and watching YouTube tutorials for different
ways to make them. It s definitely a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy. For a simple
diamond kite you will need two wooden dowels both at each size of your choice ideally one
90cm and one 120cm. The longer the dowel is the spine of the kite, the shorter dowel the
crosspiece to form diamond shape. You will also need plastic sheeting or recycled garbage bags,

several notorious murders in the late 1960 s. The cult was known as the Manson Family. He was
roughly in his thirties when the cult was recognized. Born in Ohio in 1934 he did not have
much of a childhood. He lived out most of his childhood moving around. His mother couldn t
take care of him so Charles spent his youth at homes of various relatives. He also spent large

Yasser Arafat In The Move Toward a Palestinian State
Yasser Arafat was born into a Palestinian family in Egypt in 1929. Even in his early life he began
fighting from age eighteen onwards, first the British, then the Israelis. At the age of thirty he
founded a magazine in 1959 which aimed to create and identity for the Palestinians living in
camps. This was a good way of giving the people publicity and also shows that his original motives
when he was young were good.
As time went on, Arafat s actions began to contradict his early good intentions as he set up Al

He gained respect for the Palestinian cause.
Apparently realising his tactics were ineffective; in 1974 he opted for a new strategy. He was
allowed to access the UN claiming I have come bearing an olive branch and a freedom fighter s
gun. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. This quote sums up Arafat s ambivalence. He
claims he wants peace but if that requires terror, he seems prepared for anything. However the
fact that he mentioned the olive branch, a symbol for peace, gave good publicity for the cause
and this was also the first time a Palestinian had managed to speak to the UN so this was an
important step in the fight for a Palestinian state because there would be a chance for discussion.
In 1982 Israel attacked the Lebanon and Arafat fled. His leadership was weak but the upshot of
the attacks was support gained from various parties. In 1987 Arafat seemed to change his tactics
once more, making him look all the more fickle and unstable. He announced Intifada and at last
respected the right for Israel to exist and renounced terror. At the time this showed that Arafat
wanted to gain international respect and again would allow discussion, the possibility of peace and
a move towards a Palestinian state.
When the Gulf war began in 1990, Arafat made the massive mistake of siding with Saddam

A few of the skills which I learnt on placement were how to effectively use my interpersonal skills along with my use of self and learnt how to recording information on the organisations database. These skills link in with my learning plan, in particular my learning goal of participate in professional practice with a focus on the use of self and practice standards. When I was on placement, I was a part of a team which required me to use my interpersonal skills and use of self in a particular way. By being a part of a team I had to comprehend how I was going to use my interpersonal skills and use of self, for example I was using my personality, non verbal and verbal cues to interact with clients and my team. Towards the end of placement I was provided with the opportunity to use my self and interpersonal skills while working with a young girl. The way in which I used my interpersonal skills was by sitting at the same level as the young girl and I mirrored her behaviour in some sections of the meeting. When I was working with the young girl, I made sure that there were no barriers such as a table in the middle of us. Another key skill which I obtained was information recording by writing case notes and assessments. Throughout my placement, I was able to use the Structured Decision Making (SDM) tools to conduct assessments for the social workers regarding their clients referral. By doing ... • 3. Stakeholder And Business Development Corporation Of... The word stakeholder has been frequently used to refer to a person or organization which has close financial relationship with company or enterprise, since 1990s. Stakeholder could include its owners, staff, shareholders who are internal stakeholder, and external stakeholder, for example, community, the government, and competitors. In this essay, stakeholder will include not everyone to whom it may have a payoff (Bourne, 2007). If an entity is owned and operate by an individual and there is no way to distinguish property of the owner from the business, then it is called a sole trader. The business runner is in totally control of every aspect of it and is responsible for any potential risk of the business which may include loss, loans, and bankrupt. (Small Business Development Corporation of the Government of Western Australia, 2015). In contrast, a PLC (is legally short for public limited company) is a type of limited firm whose stocks may be freely bought and sold to the public (Longman Business Dictionary, 2007). These two business units have stakeholders, which affect them in different ways. This essay is going to discuss the importance of different stakeholders. According to the traditional view the shareholders are of primary importance in a company and all policies should serve their needs first. Stakeholder theory mentions that there are other groups involved with the company. Even contender is sometimes referred to as shareholders, their status being stated to ... • 8. False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay False Confessions The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at the very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to determine his involvement with Denice Haraway s disappearance. The agent who administered the test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may have been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a false evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an attempt to get the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to confess, but if the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have evidence for a crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that they have evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The persistence of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect. Ward s interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56). Brain and Behavior of Men and Women Essay If we were to examine a high school calculus classroom or the staff at an engineering program of a college or university, chances are that the male to female ratio would be significantly skewed. Why are women and men so different in their choices and behavior? The brunt of popular opinion focuses on the environmental cues that lead to our distinct behaviors. But is there also an innate biological basisto the choices and differing abilities between men and women? Cognitive functioning or brainprocessing differences in the two genders has been a point of interest and contention for many years. Contrary to popular belief, gender and anatomical sex refer to two distinct and separate constructs as each develops at different times and in different parts of the body. John Money coined the phenomenon that codes for masculinity or femininity as Gendermaps (1). At a very early age and through an interaction of both nature and nurture, this gendermap imprint is established. What makes gender identification and sex so frequently parallel to each other is that gendermap evolvement is notably also induced by hormones that emanate from the developing fetus (1). Behavioral Differences: Though there are many similarities in the cognitive abilities of men and women, there are also discernible differences. For the most part, the behavioral differences between the intellectual capacities of the sexes have to do more with patterns of ability than the actual intellectual capacity (3). For one, attention and perception differ early on. Baby girls have been noted to gaze longer at objects than baby boys. Later they rely on landmarks and memory for guidance. Boys on the other hand, have a better visual spatial ability such as aiming at stationary or moving targets and detecting minor movements in their visual fields more easily. The fact that males perform better in navigation seems to agree with the possible theory that evolutionarily, many of these abilities would have been important for survival in the time of ... • 11. How To Describe A Jazz Concert I attended the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The concert was located in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall at 7:30p.m. The band played a total of eight different songs, varying in the types of jazz. I perceived the overall mood of the whole concert as energizing, powerful, and uplifting. I was also able to apply much of the knowledge that I learned in class to the event. To begin with, the concertstarted out with a piece from Count Basie called Hay Burner. This piece was done by a big band, a band with many instruments and musicians, and that is exactly how it was performed by the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble. The band had a total of four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm sections. Throughout the piece, the band focused mostly on the ensemble rather than the soloist, however, the alto saxophone did have a solo. This piece reminded me mostly of the boogie woogie style of jazz, due to its bluesy tones and driving piano style.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, each song was heavily syncopated. The next song that really stuck out to me was originally performed by John Coltrane. The song featured many notes and different Coltrane changes. Coltrane changes are when the chord progressions were even more complex than bebop. The song, Impressions, to me did not seem to fit into any category that was learned in the classroom. It mostly just sounded like an upbeat flourish of notes. Both the trombones and trumpets used mutes, giving their instrument an airy, deeper sound. They used those at the beginning and end of the song, giving it a unique ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For x = 0.15, decreasing from 300 to 147 K, the ZFC and FC curves are virtually indistinguishable, and then an abrupt magnetic transition from PM to FM with a pronounced ZFC FC irreversibility appears at a TC of ~146 K, as shown in Figure 3a. One is the typical PM FM phase transition located at high temperature (TC1), and the other is the FM antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at low temperature (TC2). Further increasing the Gd content, the TC1 shifts to high temperatures (from 164 to 239 K), while the TC2 gradually moves towards low temperature (from 118 to 99 K) as demonstrated in Figures 3c and 3d. In addition, to further verify the low temperature magnetic features, the temperature dependent high magnetic fieldmagnetization was measured under 20 kOe, as shown in the insets of Figures 3a d. Obviously, a typical AFM peak is observed from the inset as displayed in Figures 3b d, and the decreased slope of PM FM transition suggest that it is the second order transition induced by Gd doping. For Mn3CuN, the structural phase transition brings a three dimensional geometrical frustration in Mn6N octahedron 45, and then the next nearest neighbor (Mn N Mn) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am a Patriot at heart and I want to do all I can to serve this band to the best of my abilities. 2. What do you believe are your greatest leadership strengths and greatest leadership challenges? One leadership strengths I possess is that I am a very good public speaker and am able to easily address a group of people whether it is a big or small one. • 15. The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar... The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to have fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical story telling that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was inspired by the 1931 stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs. Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider Oklahoma! in relation to its source material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to redefine the genre, the eventual product was radically different from the play on which it was based. The changes made by the duo induce an entirely different tone, presenting the audience with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s childhood observations of the social, legal and cultural changes that took place in the midst of Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens, New York to respected physician Dr. William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (nГ©e Levy). In his autobiography, Musical Stages, he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household, the death of his grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). Looks can shape how we think of people and in reality they could be the opposite. Shirley Jackson s short story The Possibility of Evil is set in the 1950 s in a small town that reveals the contradiction between appearances vs. reality. In the story it states, The sun was shining, the air was fresh and clear after the nights heavy rain, and everything in Miss Strangeworths little town looked washed and bright (Jackson, 223) Miss Strangeworths town seems nice and perfect. And of course, people believe evil acts could be based on their own selfishness, greed and delusions but that is what Arendt would perceive it to be thoughtlessness. Reflectively, the mind is very crucial to decision making and if evil is banal, it is everyone s responsibility to remove it. • 20. Why Do Young Adults Move Into Share Housing The allure of house sharing: Strangers and a mutual microwave Michaela Daly ABSTRACTSocial change within the western context has redefined the concepts of adulthood and house formation . Despite an increasing decline in marriage between the ages of 20 and 29, young individuals continue to leave their parental homes. The previous literature identifies both social and economic motivations what continues to be this defining moment of independence. This research project attempts to demonstrate the reasons for which young adults seeking such independence engage in share housing. Background Share housing has become increasingly popular since the mid twentieth century (Goldsheider DaVanzo 1989). Once assumed to be a product of economic constraint, particularly among students, share house living has since become a representation of modern adulthood. Historically, marriage was the most powerful motivator for young adults, particularly women, to leave their parental home (Pooley and Turnbull 1997). Between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, the transition to adulthood was defined by, and adult identity rooted in, the attainment of spousal status with the formulation of a family to follow (Kenyon Heath 2001b). He was born into a devout Jewish family in Tarsus of Cilicia, hence known as Saul of Tarsus, one of the major trade centers on the Mediterranean Coast in present day Turkey. Furthermore, he took an active part in the martyrdom of Saint Stephen, first martyr and deacon, by giving his approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him . Following his approval of the mob s murderous actions, Saul ravaged the church, entering the homes of believers, committing them to prison, and even locking up female believers. I was always in the kitchen helping my mom cook dinner. I made baked ziti, empanadas, sweet potato pie, and other foods. When I was in high school, I lived with my father, and after my older siblings grew up it was just me and my little sister so I was responsible for cookingthe meals. I was cooking for my family an average of seven days a week and I was never tired or bored, I enjoyed it. I developed a strong passion for culinary arts. I am passionate about it because it excites me, inspires me, and encourages me to open a restaurant. To begin with, the culinary arts is my passion because it excites me. The culinary arts is a competitive field and I love the thrill of competition. It allows me to reach the height of my potential, in addition, compare my skills with other people who have the same passion as I do. While I m cooking my senses explode when the collaboration of components create sensational textures, aromas, and colors. When I m baking I enjoy the science involved with timing, measuring, and patience as the results always excites me. For instance, it excites me how a French croissant starts as a dough and transforms into a beautiful golden crescent with layers of soft, flaky, and buttery pastry inside. The ingenuity is also what excites me about culinary arts because everything is art, from plate decorations, to the food its self. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to steer their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the mission statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in together and have a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield, 2000). Jane explains in her memoir Reasons for Hope, This daydreaming made me come to terms with human brutality, suffering, courage idealism and even faith. (Goodall 26). This childhood dream of being in the star role helped her forget her worries about what she is going to do in the future. This is amazing for Jane because not many people at her age that have the courage to step up for what they believe that is right. You will find that the distinction between birds and dinosaurs will become difficult, as they have so many parallels. The similarities between birds and dinosaurs strongly suggest that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs. The origin of flight is an ongoing debate from scientists, but there are two main theories: that flight evolved arboreally or that it evolved from ground dwelling dinosaurs. Both have compelling evidence. The theory that flight started in the trees begins with WAIR (Wing Assisted Incline Running). Discovered in 2001 by Ken Dial at the University of Montana, it is the way many ground dwelling birds get into trees to rest at night. These birds would flap their wings back and forth (rather than up and down) to generate traction. The larger the wing size, the steeper the angle a bird could run up (Holtz 149). Also supporting this theory is the presence of toes adapted for perching in several species of dinosaurs. From there, the dinosaurs could have glided from tree to tree and eventually taken flight. A ground dwelling origin of flight also has convincing evidence. A study found that non avian feathered theropods could get a boost of speed by flapping their wings (Sloan 51). Therefore, longer feathers and bigger wings meant faster speeds until flight could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Characterized by insulin resistance (insulin is not effective in the body) and elevated blood glucose levels, type 2 diabetes can result in both neural and metabolic dysfunction and lead to cardiovascular disease. When we eat carbohydrates, our blood glucose levels rise, either quickly or slowly. Either way, once glucose has been released into the blood stream, the body can move it out of the blood stream in two ways by storing it or by getting rid of it through uptake by the muscles. The problem with diabetics of course is that storage of glucose requires mediation by insulin, and this natural pathway is impaired by the disease. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to explain the first reason of why rulers should appeal to categorical imperative when making foreign policy decisions, we can think about the growing trade between the states. States become more interdependent when trades among various states expand. Interdependence is not only important economically but also politically because all economic or business activity depends on political positions of the states. When states trade between each other, they become mutually dependent on each other s political advantages. Also, world markets are influenced by politics and state s power in the world markets depends on its foreign policy. So, states should establish good relations with other states. For this reason, when making foreign policy decisions, ruler should appeal to categorical imperative. Firstly, rulers actions must be universally valid. If state s foreign decisions are internally valid, then state cannot benefit from this politically and economically. For example, if the state decide to change the price of its export goods up without approval of other states, then states could not sell its goods whose price increase, because other states want to buy the same goods from another country whose price is cheaper. Second point is that if state s intention is bad and this kind of intention is understood by other states, this state is reproached by other states, which have a relation with this state. When the Gulf war began in 1990, Arafat made the massive mistake of siding with Saddam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
