This pilot study compared the efficacy of two antimicrobial foam dressings, Kendall AMDTM and Allevyn AgTM, in reducing the size of hard-to-heal chronic venous leg ulcers over 12 weeks. Results showed that 11 of 32 patients healed within 12 weeks, with 7 in the Kendall AMDTM group and 4 in the Allevyn AgTM group. Bacterial bioburden was reduced in 8 patients. While wound biochemistry and factors like pain, odor and exudate levels were measured, there were no significant differences observed between the treatment groups.
