Everything is Connected
Environmental Organization
Two levels of organization
Biotic = all the organisms that live
together and interact with one
another
Abiotic= part of the environment
that consists of nonliving factors
such as water, soil, light, and
temperature
Organization in the Environment
 The environment can be organized into different
levels
 First level = individual organism
 Second level =larger, made up of similar
organisms which form a population
 Third level =made of different populations,
which form a community
 Fourth level =made of a community and all its
abiotic factors, which form an ecosystem
 Fifth level =all ecosystems, forms a biosphere
First level: Individual organism
Second level: Population
Third level: Community
Fourth level: Ecosystem
Fifth level: Biosphere
Summary
• All living things are connected in a web of
life.
• The biotic part of an environment is made
up of all the living things found within it.
• The abiotic part of an environment is made
up of all of the nonliving things found
within it, such as water and light.
• An ecosystem is made up of a community
of organisms and its abiotic environment.
