How to Implement a Mobile Strategy for Your NonprofitJulia Campbell
In 2015, more of your supporters will visit your website from a mobile device than from their desktop computer.
Despite the explosion of mobile usage, too many nonprofits think that having a successful mobile strategy means simply creating a mobile-friendly website.
In reality, an effective mobile strategy encompasses design, content and messaging into all channels used for marketing and fundraising – websites, emails, appeals, events, blogs and social media.
Implementing a mobile strategy is no longer an option for nonprofits. Today's webinar with NonprofitReady detailed the reasons that your nonprofit cannot ignore mobile, and offered 8 ways to begin to implement your strategy.
Here are the slides.
10 Ways to Use Social Media to Promote Your Giving Tuesday CampaignJulia Campbell
I encourage all nonprofits, social change agents, activists, and anyone who wants to change the world through generosity and kindness to celebrate this year’s global day of unity on November 30 – Giving Tuesday!
According to to Charity Navigator, “An astonishing $2.47 billion was donated to U.S. nonprofits by a reported 34.8 million people on GivingTuesday, December 1, 2020, according to Giving Tuesday, Inc., the nonprofit behind the movement and eponymous hashtag #GivingTuesday. That amount, described as a “massive swell of generosity”, reflected a 29% increase in donations compared to 2019.”
So much more than a simple fundraising event, Giving Tuesday is a global movement, shedding light on the vital work done by the nonprofit sector every single day, as well as encouraging everyday people to give back in any way they can.
The best part is that you don’t have to create a complicated campaign to join in the fun.

Creating a strategy for using social media is no longer optional for nonprofits. Social media tools include a fast-changing and constantly growing collection of web-based and mobile technologies. These tools turn formerly broadcast and one-way messages into an interactive conversation and can be hugely effective for social change organizations. In this session, Julia Campbell outlined the 11 steps that your organization can take to create a strategy and plan for your social media efforts. A little planning goes a long way!
Social media has had a massive impact on events fundraising, both from a supporter and charity perspective. Many event participants use it as their primary route for asking for donations, so this shows how social media can help them raise more and get their sponsors involved, including data on which social media channels perform best. It also looks at how social media can support recruitment and supporter care from a charity’s point of view.
Influencer outreach continues to be buzzworthy in digital marketing. If you want to believe all the hype, it’s the solution to all your problems, right? Michelle Stinson Ross will take you through her process for vetting and engaging journalists, writers, and social influencers to build links and expand trust and credibility with new audiences.

and life experience at the event,
one suggestion is to give them a
scenario to chat about.
11. For example, an emergency, a
task, a reality TV show setup, and
figure out how each of them can
participate in the situation
according to their strengths.
13. STEP ONE: Give everyone who
shows up a name tag that isn’t
theirs and a burning question to
ask that person.
Tip: Don’t make the questions too invasive!
14. STEP TWO: Let them make
conversation at the event to
identify the person whose name is
on the name tag.
15. Take it up a notch by matching
these pairs according to their

24. Provide them with a list of three
questions they can ask beyond
“What do you do?” to break the ice.
25. For example, “What’s your guilty
pleasure?” which can raise answers
like sleep, binge watching Netflix,
ice cream and so on.
26. Hit it with the music, and whenever
the music plays, attendees are to
ask the person opposite them the
three questions.
27. When the music stops, the first
person on one of the two rows
moves to stand beside the last
person of that row whilst the
entire row shifts up to face a new
person on the opposite row.
28. Keep playing and stopping the
