2. For the front cover, I attracted my audience by
using direct address. My front cover image
attracts the reader as it is focusing directly
ahead. My use of the black and white image
portrays what my magazine is about. The girl
in my image has dark hair and dark makeup
and her close are quite plain but they have a
sense of rock in them as the jacket is worn out.
All of these small details that I made to my
image really add to the whole theme of my
magazine. It shows the darkness and mystery
within indie/rock music. It is indie and deeply
personal to each artist, I wanted to capture this
within my front cover image. It attracts the
reader to want to look further; the darkness of
the image creates mystery and intrigue.
Although my image portrays a mysterious
look, my genre is also fun and exciting so my
colour scheme was a mixture of black, white,
red and yellow. These colours are associated
with indie/rock and the majority of the time is
what the reader will first notice, so you want it
to be right to attract the correct target
audience.
3. The masthead itself will attract the reader
because of the word, ‘indite’ means to
write or compose, it is quite an unusual
and individual word that I think will
attract my audience because it will create
further intrigue. As for my contents page it
attracts the audience because there are
several images that have connotations to
rock and artists that I have wrote about in
my contents. It is full of text but not too
much to make it look crowded. This will
attract the audience that are interested in
this genre of music. The regulars and
features are in separate columns with the
same colour scheme as my front cover.
However I have used various borders and
outlines on my contents page as it is
mostly full of text I wanted to make the
more important and interesting text stand
out to attract the audience even more. The
overall layout of my contents page is easy
to follow I did this so my audience will be
attracted by it as they are of a younger
audience.
4. My double page spread has an immediate
attraction towards my target audience because on
the first page I have a black and white image of
the band, which will interest my target audience.
My colour scheme is blue black and white which
also relates to the bands logo. The image of the
band is on the first page as it will immediately
stand out and the added effect of black and white
which I have used looks quite dark which
associates with the genre of indie/rock therefore
interesting my audience further. My article
stands out also because it is of a different
background colour that my image, immediately
separating them but making them both
individually eye-catching. Each question is about
the band and the indie/rock industry which the
target audience for this magazine will have a
deep interest in. The title is large and it bleeds
across the two pages which makes it stand out
but it also shows that band isn’t too formal and
that the magazine isn’t too formal either. It shows
that my magazine is a fun and easy read
magazine as it is what my target audience would
want as they are of a younger generation.
