1. Technologies
Throughout the process of making this media product I used many forms of
technology. We have learnt how to use manipulation tools on photoshop in order to
achieve the best looking outcome. I have learnt these skills through classmates,
teachers and exploring the software myself. We have also learnt many ways to use
the application quark to its full potential and to the best of our ability.
One way in which I have advanced my skills is through looking at
online tutorials on ways in which you can use photoshop and also
using them when I was uncertain when trying to do certain tasks.
I found this helped me greatly when trying to achieve certain
things for example erasing specific parts of text so that my image
wouldnt be covered by it, I didn't know this was possible until I
had found it whilst looking at a tutorial.
In quark I have learnt how to apply columns to a blank page and
how to use grid lines to even out text and images on the page. Also I have learnt
how to make a double page on quark as I needed one for my double page spread. I
found quark more difficult to use opposed to photoshop as I had never used it before
where as with photoshop I have had experiences with using it in my other A Levels.
A lot of my contents page was done simply by pasting the text and images into quark
and then using the columns to lay them out neatly. I also used the tools in quark to
create a drop cap for my double page spread and to create indents at the start of
each paragraph. I used some of the editing techniques to edit the image slightly in
order to make the photo more crisp and bright.

In photoshop I have

2. learnt how to layer images on top of each other also learnt how to manipulate
aspects of the image for example the brightness and the size. I used the erase tool
to crop out part of the title so that all of the main image could be seen. Then I used
shape tools to create a banner at the bottom of the front cover and layered text on
top of that. I used the control tool to decrease the size of the text so that it would fit
my page, I did this also for a the masthead so that it stretched for the entire length of
the page and nearly touched both sides. I used a tool to blur parts of the wall in the
background that weren't perfect to make the overall appearance look better.
This example is where I have layered numerous things on top of each other, as you can see
the main image is overcovering the masthead which i did by using the tools in photoshop
and also the coverlines and main feature both overlap the image.
