Jack learned about several technologies through completing his school product. He used a DSLR camera to take photos for his magazine, and learned about how the camera works through taking photos with different shutter speeds and exposures. He used Photoshop to edit the photos, such as applying a monochrome filter and moving the subject. Finally, he used QuarkXPress to lay out his magazine pages, adding images, text with different fonts, sizes, colors and drop shadows. He changed images and layouts up until the final version.

We cut out the main image from the background using the lasso tool, chose a purple background color that represented the theme, then added the Channel 4 logo and text over the purple background to make it stand out.

Technology used in producing my magazine
- 1. Technology used in producing my magazine Sophie Moran
- 2. I used: Adobe Photoshop Quark Xpress Passport SLR Digital Camera Blogger.com
- 3. Photoshop I used Photoshop to create my magazine front cover. I had used Photoshop before and I felt reasonably confident in using it. I was able to cut out my image using the lasso tool and make it look professional using the blur tool. I understood how to resize images and text using ctrl and T. I could also add effects on text using the effect tools like bevel and emboss.
- 4. Quark Xpress I used Quark to produce my contents page and double page spread. I had never used it before and found it challenging to work out how all of the features worked. I needed some help to get things to look the way I wanted them to. In Quark I learnt how to use the different arrows to edit text and images. I learnt how to add effects onto images and used the guide lines to make sure everything would fit on the page.
- 5. SLR Camera I used the SLR cameras to take the pictures that are used in magazine. I learnt about the different lenses and the zoom. I also learnt about shot types and angles that I used to create strong images. The cameras are high quality so the image were not blurry or pixelated when they were stretched.
- 6. Overall the technology helped me to complete my tasks much quicker and I was able to produce a magazine that looked reasonably professional.
