EVALUATION QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
RESEARCH
• The internet – in order to search for secondary target audience
information, and compile all research
• Camera – to film primary target audience research interviews
• Movie Studio Platinum – to edit primary target audience research
• Still camera – to take photos of possible filming locations and any
research done on paper
• PowerPoint – to help pitch my early ideas to an audience
• Projector and speakers – to help pitch my early ideas to an audience
RESEARCH – THE INTERNET
• Blogger – used to compile all research done and all work done during A2.
• Prezi – used to explain and present all research work easily.
• YouGov – is a website that allows users to search for different topics and
then complies all of the data they have on that subject to show you the
average fans demographics and psychographics.
• YouTube Statistics – allowed me to see how popular different musicians are
on the platform. This helped me to work out whether the genre is niche or
mainstream.
• Music Machinery – allowed me to find out how popular R&B (Alternative
R&B's parent genre) is in comparison to other genres. This will begin to help
me work out how niche or mainstream the genre is.
RESEARCH – CAMERA
• Film Primary TA Research Interviews – these interviews being filmed
allowed me to use their direct responses to get a more accurate view
and it was easier for me to get their answers and incorporate them into
my work. – Panasonic HC-X920
• Film The Pitch – presented the pitch in front of a small group of target
audience members for feedback and possible changes that needed to
be made. Filming this allowed me to record their feedback and what I
want to do with the video at the early stages. – Panasonic HC-X920
RESEARCH – MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM
• I editing the footage from the primary research interviews question by
question by cutting people’s answers and then adding text so that
watching after editing you know which question is being answered.
RESEARCH – STILL CAMERA
• Used to take photos of any research work done not on the computer
and used to take photos of possible filming locations in order to
compare. – Canon PowerShot SX540 HS Bridge
RESEARCH - POWERPOINT
• I created the presentation for the pitch using PowerPoint in order to
present my early ideas to a target audience to get feedback and make
possible changes.
RESEARCH – PROJECTOR AND SPEAKERS
• Speakers – these were used during the pitch so that the audience could
listen to the song so they might understand where my ideas are coming
from.
• Projector – used to project the presentation I created so that the visuals
aided what I was saying about the ideas and as a visual prompt.
PLANNING
• Word – to create shot lists, shooting schedule, and risk assessment
• E-Mail – to communicate with other people working/ possibly working
on video
• The internet – search for possible actors, and compile all planning
• Still camera – to take photos of paper-based research
PLANNING – WORD
• Used to create shot lists, shooting schedule, and risk assessments. This
was for ease and so that I could take the shooting schedule and shot list
with me on the shooting days.
PLANNING – E-MAIL
• Whilst in the planning stage I attempted to find actors/ actresses to be a
part of the video I emailed different drama groups in order to find
people.
PLANNING – THE INTERNET
• Blogger – I used blogger again to compile all of my work so that I could
go back and find work that I needed on set days or to improve current
work.
• Drama Groups – I used this website to search amateur drama groups in
Lincolnshire in order to search for actors and actresses for the music
video.
PLANNING – STILL CAMERA
• When creating paper-based planning, such as storyboards, I had to take
pictures of them in order to put them on blogger and analyse them as
well as back up copies of them.
CONSTRUCTION OF VIDEO
• Movie Studio Platinum – to edit the video together and add effects
• Camera – to record footage
• (Steadicam – to attach to camera for different styled shots)
• Computer – to upload footage onto and edit that footage on
• Phone – to film certain shots, and as a prop in the video
• Still camera – to take photos of filming days
• YouTube video/ music downloader – to add the song into MSP
• YouTube – to download song, and to upload final video
VIDEO – MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM
• Movie Studio Platinum was used to edit the video. The editing included
putting a basic timeline together, putting all of the clips into slow
motion, adding in the music, using the colour correction effects, adding
in overlays, and using the saturation filter.
VIDEO – CAMERA (+ STEADICAM)
• Used to record the footage that included actors (on the first two days of
filming). It was used because it worked with a Steadicam. This camera
was good enough quality to film what I wanted to and the battery life
was long enough to film outdoors for long periods of time. – Panasonic
HC-X920
• Although a Steadicam is usually used to make a handheld shot look less
shaky than it would be I used it to give a shaky effect. This was the
desired effect for the entire video. The Steadicam also allowed me to
have more control over the camera’s angles as well as being able to
move with it in walking shots.
VIDEO - COMPUTER
• The computer is where I stored all of the footage from the camera so
that I could then edit that footage on Movie Studio Platinum. The
computer is where I stored all of the work I had during all stages of this
coursework.
VIDEO - PHONE
• Filming – the shots of the sunset and sunrise were filmed on my phone
(iPhone 5S) as it was the easiest piece of equipment to take to the
locations where the filming took place and the quality almost matched
the quality of the camera.
• Prop – an iPhone 6S as the prop phone in the video and was the phone
that had all of the couple’s photos on. This was because it has a large
screen so it was the best option to use in the video.
VIDEO – STILL CAMERA
• A still camera was used on filming days to take pictures of the set and
cast and crew. This was so that if reshoots had to be done we could re-
locate where the best places for filming were as well as have visuals of
what work was done on shooting days. – Canon PowerShot SX540 HS
Bridge
VIDEO – YOUTUBE VIDEO/ MUSIC
DOWNLOADER
• This was used in order to download a file of the original music video (I
Don’t Wanna Waste My Time – Joji (Official Music Video)) as it is not on
any platform where it could be bought, such as iTunes. This meant I
could use the file in Movie Studio Platinum and put the music with the
recorded footage.
VIDEO - YOUTUBE
• Song – this is the platform on which the original song was located and
where the song was downloaded from.
• Final Video – this is the site that the final cut of my version of the music
video was uploaded. This allowed me to be able to share the video as
well as view it at any time.
CONSTRUCTION OF ANCILLARY TASKS
• Still camera – to take photos seen on the digipak and magazine advert
• Photoshop – to edit together images to create both tasks
• The internet – to find images that could not be taken with a still camera
• Phone – to find some images that had already been taken on phone
• E-Mail – to share images between the computer and phone
ANCILLARY TASKS – STILL CAMERA
• The photos of the two people on the digipak (the ‘artist’ and ‘Chloe
Burbank’) were taken using a still camera in front of a green screen so
that the quality of the pictures would be good enough to be used in
Photoshop. – Canon EOS 1300D
ANCILLARY TASKS – PHOTOSHOP
• Photoshop was the software used to create both the digipak and the
magazine advert as it had all of the tools needed to create the final
versions. It is also easy to learn how to use so that they could be made
quickly but still be a good quality.
ANCILLARY TASKS – THE INTERNET
• The images of the barcode, parental advisory warning symbol, and
88Rising logo on the digipak and the star reviews, and the logos of the
streaming sites on the magazine advert were all found on the internet so
that high quality images could used on the ancillary tasks.
ANCILLARY TASKS – PHONE
• The image of the sunset seen on both the digipak (inside panel) and
magazine advert (background image) was a photo that I already had
taken on my phone. I emailed myself different images that may have
worked well, but ended up choosing the one seen.
ANCILLARY TASKS – E-MAIL
• I used e-mail to send different images to myself that may have worked
on the digipak and magazine advert from my phone. This allowed me to
store the images on the computer.
EVALUATION STAGE
• Prezi, and Computer – Evaluation Question 1
• Word, Microphone, Computer, and Movie Studio Platinum – Evaluation
Question 2
• Word, Computer, and Internet – Evaluation Question 3
• PowerPoint, Computer, and Internet – Evaluation Question 4
EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION
QUESTION 1
• Prezi – this was the site I used to present the question as it is easy to
present photos and videos along with text.
• Computer – this is where all of the photos and information is stored that
is presented on the Prezi.
EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION
QUESTION 2
• Word – used to write up and edit a script for voice recording
• Microphone – used to record my voice that is used to present
information and answers to Question 2 – Roland R-O5
• Computer – to store voice recordings and all of the images and video
clips used to illustrate what is being said
• Movie Studio Platinum – to edit voice recording and added in clips and
images over the top
EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION
QUESTION 3
• Word – used to answer the question and hold all of the screenshots to
back up the points made
• Computer – has previous information that is used to answer the
question
• Internet – to access Blogger which also has answers on, and YouTube to
take screenshots of TA interviews
EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION
QUESTION 4
• PowerPoint – to compile all information and answers
• Computer – had images and information that were needed to add
• Internet – used to access Blogger and Prezi for information, and for
images, such as the image of the iPhone 5s, and YouTube to access the
comments on the video

Evaluation question 4 power point

  • 1. EVALUATION QUESTION 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
  • 2. RESEARCH • The internet – in order to search for secondary target audience information, and compile all research • Camera – to film primary target audience research interviews • Movie Studio Platinum – to edit primary target audience research • Still camera – to take photos of possible filming locations and any research done on paper • PowerPoint – to help pitch my early ideas to an audience • Projector and speakers – to help pitch my early ideas to an audience
  • 3. RESEARCH – THE INTERNET • Blogger – used to compile all research done and all work done during A2. • Prezi – used to explain and present all research work easily. • YouGov – is a website that allows users to search for different topics and then complies all of the data they have on that subject to show you the average fans demographics and psychographics. • YouTube Statistics – allowed me to see how popular different musicians are on the platform. This helped me to work out whether the genre is niche or mainstream. • Music Machinery – allowed me to find out how popular R&B (Alternative R&B's parent genre) is in comparison to other genres. This will begin to help me work out how niche or mainstream the genre is.
  • 4. RESEARCH – CAMERA • Film Primary TA Research Interviews – these interviews being filmed allowed me to use their direct responses to get a more accurate view and it was easier for me to get their answers and incorporate them into my work. – Panasonic HC-X920 • Film The Pitch – presented the pitch in front of a small group of target audience members for feedback and possible changes that needed to be made. Filming this allowed me to record their feedback and what I want to do with the video at the early stages. – Panasonic HC-X920
  • 5. RESEARCH – MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM • I editing the footage from the primary research interviews question by question by cutting people’s answers and then adding text so that watching after editing you know which question is being answered.
  • 6. RESEARCH – STILL CAMERA • Used to take photos of any research work done not on the computer and used to take photos of possible filming locations in order to compare. – Canon PowerShot SX540 HS Bridge
  • 7. RESEARCH - POWERPOINT • I created the presentation for the pitch using PowerPoint in order to present my early ideas to a target audience to get feedback and make possible changes.
  • 8. RESEARCH – PROJECTOR AND SPEAKERS • Speakers – these were used during the pitch so that the audience could listen to the song so they might understand where my ideas are coming from. • Projector – used to project the presentation I created so that the visuals aided what I was saying about the ideas and as a visual prompt.
  • 9. PLANNING • Word – to create shot lists, shooting schedule, and risk assessment • E-Mail – to communicate with other people working/ possibly working on video • The internet – search for possible actors, and compile all planning • Still camera – to take photos of paper-based research
  • 10. PLANNING – WORD • Used to create shot lists, shooting schedule, and risk assessments. This was for ease and so that I could take the shooting schedule and shot list with me on the shooting days.
  • 11. PLANNING – E-MAIL • Whilst in the planning stage I attempted to find actors/ actresses to be a part of the video I emailed different drama groups in order to find people.
  • 12. PLANNING – THE INTERNET • Blogger – I used blogger again to compile all of my work so that I could go back and find work that I needed on set days or to improve current work. • Drama Groups – I used this website to search amateur drama groups in Lincolnshire in order to search for actors and actresses for the music video.
  • 13. PLANNING – STILL CAMERA • When creating paper-based planning, such as storyboards, I had to take pictures of them in order to put them on blogger and analyse them as well as back up copies of them.
  • 14. CONSTRUCTION OF VIDEO • Movie Studio Platinum – to edit the video together and add effects • Camera – to record footage • (Steadicam – to attach to camera for different styled shots) • Computer – to upload footage onto and edit that footage on • Phone – to film certain shots, and as a prop in the video • Still camera – to take photos of filming days • YouTube video/ music downloader – to add the song into MSP • YouTube – to download song, and to upload final video
  • 15. VIDEO – MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM • Movie Studio Platinum was used to edit the video. The editing included putting a basic timeline together, putting all of the clips into slow motion, adding in the music, using the colour correction effects, adding in overlays, and using the saturation filter.
  • 16. VIDEO – CAMERA (+ STEADICAM) • Used to record the footage that included actors (on the first two days of filming). It was used because it worked with a Steadicam. This camera was good enough quality to film what I wanted to and the battery life was long enough to film outdoors for long periods of time. – Panasonic HC-X920 • Although a Steadicam is usually used to make a handheld shot look less shaky than it would be I used it to give a shaky effect. This was the desired effect for the entire video. The Steadicam also allowed me to have more control over the camera’s angles as well as being able to move with it in walking shots.
  • 17. VIDEO - COMPUTER • The computer is where I stored all of the footage from the camera so that I could then edit that footage on Movie Studio Platinum. The computer is where I stored all of the work I had during all stages of this coursework.
  • 18. VIDEO - PHONE • Filming – the shots of the sunset and sunrise were filmed on my phone (iPhone 5S) as it was the easiest piece of equipment to take to the locations where the filming took place and the quality almost matched the quality of the camera. • Prop – an iPhone 6S as the prop phone in the video and was the phone that had all of the couple’s photos on. This was because it has a large screen so it was the best option to use in the video.
  • 19. VIDEO – STILL CAMERA • A still camera was used on filming days to take pictures of the set and cast and crew. This was so that if reshoots had to be done we could re- locate where the best places for filming were as well as have visuals of what work was done on shooting days. – Canon PowerShot SX540 HS Bridge
  • 20. VIDEO – YOUTUBE VIDEO/ MUSIC DOWNLOADER • This was used in order to download a file of the original music video (I Don’t Wanna Waste My Time – Joji (Official Music Video)) as it is not on any platform where it could be bought, such as iTunes. This meant I could use the file in Movie Studio Platinum and put the music with the recorded footage.
  • 21. VIDEO - YOUTUBE • Song – this is the platform on which the original song was located and where the song was downloaded from. • Final Video – this is the site that the final cut of my version of the music video was uploaded. This allowed me to be able to share the video as well as view it at any time.
  • 22. CONSTRUCTION OF ANCILLARY TASKS • Still camera – to take photos seen on the digipak and magazine advert • Photoshop – to edit together images to create both tasks • The internet – to find images that could not be taken with a still camera • Phone – to find some images that had already been taken on phone • E-Mail – to share images between the computer and phone
  • 23. ANCILLARY TASKS – STILL CAMERA • The photos of the two people on the digipak (the ‘artist’ and ‘Chloe Burbank’) were taken using a still camera in front of a green screen so that the quality of the pictures would be good enough to be used in Photoshop. – Canon EOS 1300D
  • 24. ANCILLARY TASKS – PHOTOSHOP • Photoshop was the software used to create both the digipak and the magazine advert as it had all of the tools needed to create the final versions. It is also easy to learn how to use so that they could be made quickly but still be a good quality.
  • 25. ANCILLARY TASKS – THE INTERNET • The images of the barcode, parental advisory warning symbol, and 88Rising logo on the digipak and the star reviews, and the logos of the streaming sites on the magazine advert were all found on the internet so that high quality images could used on the ancillary tasks.
  • 26. ANCILLARY TASKS – PHONE • The image of the sunset seen on both the digipak (inside panel) and magazine advert (background image) was a photo that I already had taken on my phone. I emailed myself different images that may have worked well, but ended up choosing the one seen.
  • 27. ANCILLARY TASKS – E-MAIL • I used e-mail to send different images to myself that may have worked on the digipak and magazine advert from my phone. This allowed me to store the images on the computer.
  • 28. EVALUATION STAGE • Prezi, and Computer – Evaluation Question 1 • Word, Microphone, Computer, and Movie Studio Platinum – Evaluation Question 2 • Word, Computer, and Internet – Evaluation Question 3 • PowerPoint, Computer, and Internet – Evaluation Question 4
  • 29. EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION QUESTION 1 • Prezi – this was the site I used to present the question as it is easy to present photos and videos along with text. • Computer – this is where all of the photos and information is stored that is presented on the Prezi.
  • 30. EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION QUESTION 2 • Word – used to write up and edit a script for voice recording • Microphone – used to record my voice that is used to present information and answers to Question 2 – Roland R-O5 • Computer – to store voice recordings and all of the images and video clips used to illustrate what is being said • Movie Studio Platinum – to edit voice recording and added in clips and images over the top
  • 31. EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION QUESTION 3 • Word – used to answer the question and hold all of the screenshots to back up the points made • Computer – has previous information that is used to answer the question • Internet – to access Blogger which also has answers on, and YouTube to take screenshots of TA interviews
  • 32. EVALUATION STAGE – EVALUATION QUESTION 4 • PowerPoint – to compile all information and answers • Computer – had images and information that were needed to add • Internet – used to access Blogger and Prezi for information, and for images, such as the image of the iPhone 5s, and YouTube to access the comments on the video
