3. Research - YouTube
• YouTube was used as a means of looking at other music
videos – to perhaps borrow successful ideas, and avoid bad
ones
• The statistics section also allow us to see what types of
audience are attracted to which types of songs and videos –
this allows us to shape our product towards our perceived
target audience
• Reviews of these videos can be seen earlier in my blog –
under the “My favourite music videos” series
4. Research - Survey Monkey
• This website allows for the easy making and distribution of
surveys
• This allows us to gain a more ‘current’ insight into our target
audience, as well as letting us explore questions that other
sources may not have.
5. Research – Survey Monkey
Here is an example of a question we used, and an
extract of the answers we received.
There are the usual spamming messages, but
thankfully we didn’t have that many which made
it easier to sift through to the relevant
information.
7. Final Cut Express
• Final Cut Express helped us in the planning stage via letting us
display the animations in a different format
• With the animatic pictures organised into a linear format, it
was easier to see how the music video would be put together
8. Blogger
• Blogger was used as a means of recording the plans we had
• They also display how our plans evolve, which could help
direct us to making better decisions
11. Final Cut Express
• FCE is software that enables the editing of video recordings
• One particular feature that was a help was the ability to
create “layers” of shots
– This meant that the song could be lipsynced to again and again and
again, and piled on top of each other (one set of shots would be
covering over another)
– Thus it was an easy task to move a segment of the layer above,
whenever we wanted the audience to see one of the lower layers
12. Live Type
• Live Type is a text editor – it allows text to be formatted in a
variety of ways not normally available in programs such as
Word
– This can be used to provide a multitude of desired effects, helping add
to the atmosphere desired
• The text can also be formatted in such a way that it will be
displayed on the screen in a certain fashion – e.g. In the music
video, the letters appear and disappear in a flurry of colour
13. Photoshop
• Photoshop is photographic editing software, already used by
several professional companies
• We utilized Photoshop to create our magazine advert, and
digipak
• We were able to manipulate images in ways which gave off
the impression we wanted to give, to audiences
15. Prezi
• Prezi is a form of presentation software
• It’s unique point is that it keeps the readers interested with
animations such as moving, zooms, and pans, to the relevant
information
16. Sliderocket
• Sliderocket is a form of importing PowerPoint presentations
online
• This is another means of presenting information
– The manner in which the text is presented is relatively broken up,
helps to keep the reader’s attention span, as well as organizing topics
clearly
