Audience feedback was important for structuring the music video. Feedback on similar artists helped with initial ideas. Positive and constructive comments on the final video suggested ways to improve lip syncing, eye contact, shot variety, and color grading to create a happier feel. This feedback will help strengthen future music videos.

feedback?

2. In my opinion I believe that an audience’s views and perceptions are very
important to the making of any music video, as they influence the ideas and
the direction that directors take on a new music video.
Our research started right at the beginning where we looked at music from
videos such as Jason Mraz, Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran to gain an idea of
how they constructed their music videos due to them being in the same
genre as the track we were given.
Audience feedback was very important as we found out what was good/bad
with other music videos in the indie/pop genre we were given and what
worked well and what didnt in them, this obviously then influenced our
decision making about our music video and how we produced, edited and
structured our video.

3. We didn't have a specific target audience as our genre indie/pop has a very
broad audience so it was hard to target just one specific group of people,
however I would say that maybe our genre would be more for a younger teen
audience.
We learned that mainly our audience preferred a simple, modern album
cover due other artists in the indie/pop genre, for example Ed Sheeran and
Ben Howard, having simple modern album covers. We took inspiration from
these modern album covers and transferred them into a Digipak for our own
album cover.
We also used camera shots from our single ‘Bad weather’ and incorporated
them into our Digipak album cover as the rural, scenic landscape on the
digipak is the same as the one in the single.

4. We posted our final product on our Youtube channel in order to receive some
feedback from our audience, mainly our feedback was positive and alot of it was
very constructive and allowed us to gain an idea of what we would do differently if
we came to produce another music video in the future and how we would change
things in order to create even more of a positive response from our audience.

5. As we can see from the first comment, the viewer likes the idea of the music video
and thought it worked well with the music, however they thought that the lip syncing
could of been better and that if the singer would of looked at the camera more they
would of interacted with the audience. Also they thought adding more variety of
shots would improve our music video and with abit of colour grading it would give
the video a more light-hearted happy feeling which is the look we was going for in
the video.
From this feedback we can take this on board in order to improve our current music
video or to improve any other videos in the future in order to gain more of a positive
audience response in the future.
Also from the comments we can gather that the audience liked the rural, scenic
location as it fits in with the music well and also the characteristics of the singer
Ronald Thompson and they also liked some of the shots we used, for example the
shots of the singer walking through the woods with the sun shining through and also
the train track shot.

6. I believe that audience feedback played a very important role in the
structuring and development of our music video and also will play a very
important role when coming to make more music videos in the future as
some of the feedback we received was very constructive which then
allows us to use this and enhance our music video to develop more of a
positive audience response.
