Corey Balsom – AS Media
In my media product, I decided to use a
band of four young, white British males on
the front cover, contents page and double
page spread article.
 For my front cover, I
included a medium shot of a
young, white British male
holding a guitar with a
trendy outfit on. This
appeals to the younger
audiences as they can
relate to the model. This
also represents young
people, and musicians in
particular, as being very
trendy and stylish, with
expensive clothes and
instruments.
 For my contents page I included a
shot of the group band ‘The Clause’
posing towards the camera, giving
direct address with the audience.
They are all wearing modern, trendy
clothes and looking quite casual.
This image on the page also
represents young people as being
very casual and trendy, and it looks
like they might belong in social
groups of C1 or even B group. Also
included on the page are single
images of the band members in
different poses. One image includes
a band member with his arms
crossed, which could represent
young people as being rebellious or
with a disregard for authority.
 In the double page spread
article I included the image of
the band ‘The Clause’ as the
main image. The article I wrote
also spans across both pages
and also includes pull out
quotes for the audience to read,
such as “F**k it, you can go for
that. The world needs this
album.” These pull out quotes
entice the audience to read the
article with interesting lines. The
quotes that I used can
represent young people as
being mischievous.
Overall I think that I have represented
young people as being rebellious and
modern, which the audience may be able
to relate to and may appeal to them. I
could have also had a little diversity when
it came to the models used in the
magazine like a female or someone of a
different ethnicity.
