Question 1:
In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
For question 1, I’m going to use Prezi because it’s easy to add pictures of my
magazine and compare them to real magazines and I can see whether I
followed the conventions or not. It will be clear to see what I’ve changed and
kept similar from my case studies. Prezi offers a more creative approach to a
PowerPoint so the aesthetics of the answer will be better.
I will use the terminology I’ve learnt to analyse the technical elements of my
music magazine like the masthead, skylines, coverlines, puffs etc. I will also
talk about how Billboard and Vibe magazines inspired mine product.
Question 2:
How does your media product represent
particular social groups?
For this question, I will use Slideshare. This is because I want to put the
different categories of the social groups on different slides so it is clear
what I’m trying to show and with slide share, I can make a presentation on
PowerPoint and then put it on that.
I will talk about the type of clothing this social group wears, their age and
gender, ethnicity etc, which is represented from the people in the
magazine. I will explain whether I challenged reinforced the stereotypes of
the social group represented in my magazine which is the majority of the
youth today. I am going to discuss the type of language used in the
journalism part of my magazine to see whether it portrays a positive or
negative image on the represented social groups.
Question 3:
What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
I want to use emaze to answer the question about who my publisher will
be. This is because it has interesting ways to present information, I can
also include images which makes my answer more visual.
I researched and spoke about publishers in my magazine proposal so I will
say which publisher I have chosen and the reason I decided to choose
them, I will also mention other ways my magazine will be distributed
rather than just physically.
Question 4:
Who would be the audience for your media
product?
I want to use infogr.am for this question as it could be good to make
a media kit which I will be making for this to show the demographics
of the audience of my magazine.
I will include age, location, gender, ethnicity etc.
Infogr.am helps to make graphs and bar charts which will show these
demographics easily.
Question 5:
How did you attract/address your
audience?
I’m going to be using Prezi to answer this question as it enables
me to show people’s feedback in an interesting way. It has
creative animations which help to make the presentation look a
lot better.
I will include the quotes of what my class have said and what
other people in the target audience have said.
This will make it clear to see what the people I have been making
the magazine for have to say about it.
Question 6:
What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
I’m going to use emaze for this question as it’s easy to insert
images and have writing at the same time so it will allow me
to show pictures of the technologies I’ve learnt about and
write about them on different slides.
With emaze, I can add backgrounds to the slides which makes
them a bit more interesting and eye catching instead of
having a plain background with writing on.
Question 7:
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
To answer this question, I’m going to use slide share so I can
compare my college magazine to my music magazine and write
about them in an easy and clear way. I will need to add pictures of
both magazines so I can make clear comments about them both
and I can physically show what I’m taking about with the use of
arrows.
I will write about the improvements I’ve made and what I’ve learnt
since I’ve started.
