The student evaluated their college magazine cover and contents page. For the cover, they used Photoshop to design a bright red cover with a masthead, cover lines, and splash that follows magazine conventions while challenging conventions by using the same font for all text. Strengths included following conventions like the correctly placed masthead and catching the eye with color, while weaknesses were not discussed. For the contents page, it similarly followed conventions with a small cover image, columns, page numbers, and limited colors linking it to the cover. The student discussed using Photoshop to design the pages but did not provide other details on strengths or weaknesses.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Front cover evaluation
The front cover of my college magazine follows many of the codes
and conventions of a magazine cover, for example mine includes; A
bold title, a colour scheme, a masthead, a range of cover lines, a
splash and much more. My magazine cover stands out and catches
the eye with the main bright red I have used but I have also kept it
simple so there isn't too much going on on the page.
My cover challenges the codes and conventions of a magazine cover
as all of my text is used in the same font, usually this is not done on a
magazine as the title should be different from everything else.
3. To produce my front cover I used the computer program Photoshop, using this I was able to
modernise my cover by moving around all sorts of text on my page. Photoshop allowed me to
add my background picture that I took and apply it to the page.
The construction of my front cover
4. Strengths & Weaknesses
One strength of my front cover is that it follows many of the codes and conventions of a
magazine cover such as I have a masthead that is placed correctly on the page which stands out
to a reader which what it is there to do. Another strength of my cover is that my
5. Contents page evaluation
My contents page follows the codes and conventions of magazine
contents page for example; I have I smaller picture of my front cover on
the page, there are regulars and features columns, I have page number, a
range of images and much more.
I have stuck to a limited set of colours just like on my front page and
these link to the same colours as the front page has.
