PRODUCTION
PROCESS
EVALUATION
 The strengths of my research was that I knew from the results
what people would most like to see in a film. This helped with my
product because I was able to look at my research and see what
was a popular genre/style of film for the audience and base the
film around that.
 The weaknesses of my research was that some of the answers
that I got either didn’t make sense or someone tried to be funny
with their answers.
 To improve my research I would of asked some people face to
face, this would of given me an more accurate answer. This would
effect my product because the research data I had would have
been more accurate, meaning I could of cater to a specific
audience a lot easier rather than trying to please everyone.
 When planning for my product I had to take into consideration a
lot of different things.
 Before filming anything I found it easier to create a plan of where
and when I would be filming. Doing this made it easier to manage
any equipment that was being used, the place it was being used
and who was using it. This made organising the day a lot easier,
which helped making my product easier. The downside of making
a plan is that not everyone listens to it which can delay the filming
process, due to having to explain what needs doing multiple
times. To improve I could of told everyone in a lot of detail how
the day intends to go, doing this would of made filming my
product a lot easier.
 All of my short film was filmed on one day, which was a positive
and also a negative thing.
 Negative: everything was rushed because we only had roughly 3
hours of film time.
 Positive: because everything was filmed on the one day we didn’t
have to worry about the filming locations or the actors/actresses
looking different on a filming day. This also gave me more time to
edit the overall film.
 If I had more time to film the short film I would of wanted to
experiment more with different styles and angles.
In both of these screen shots the style
of the camera is over the shoulder
shot. For my short film I chose to
include this because I wanted it to
show that the couple was being
watched. In the chosen short film I
looked at they chose to do an over the
shoulder shot to show the difference in
conversation between the two
characters in shot. The differences are in
what the two shots represent. The
similarities are the style of the shots.
In this specific scene the audio
enhances and becomes more intense
I did this to create tension for the
person watching. In the short film I
chose the audio is muffled to make the
person talking oblivious to the
character in shot. The differences are
the type of audio used. In my short film
the type of audio used was upbeat and
quite scary, in the chosen short film the
audio gets louder and as the scene
progresses.. The similarities are in both
scenes audio is used to create some
form of tension .
Editing my work was quite enjoyable
because I got to experiment with
different types of background audio,
choosing what would work better
with my film. In my film I use two
main audio files. At the beginning
when the characters were children,
the audio
related to the clip it was up beat and happy,
as well as the colour of the clip being
brighter. This is the same for the short film I
chose. As shown in this screen shot the
scene shows the actor having a difficult time
so the screen is dark and the music
intensifies.
With my short film I tried to keep the colour choices to a minimum. For
the main character to be dressed in full black to symbolise the characters
emotion. To include some brighter colours I included different shots of
nature. I liked how the shot of the first person running came out because
it caught different colours. I could improve my work by changing the
contrast/brightness. The strengths of my work is that I had very easy
access to different filming locations on and around college. I also had
access to good cameras so the out come of the film looks better. The
weakness of my work was that I didn’t have much help with the camera
work.
My short film appeals to my chosen audience (adolescents), because
the people I chose to be in the film were portrayed to be relatable to
anyone watching as well as including something stereotypically for each
gender. For females that would be the represent of romance and for
males that would be any violence involved.

 What did you like about the product?
 It was great!
 I like the use of sound and the different view points to create the feel
of the film. You can tell the story line clearly. I also enjoyed the scene
of them chasing one another.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I think the audio could be just a bit more clearer. You could not hear
the ticking of the clock, with that added in it’d bring some more to the
film.
 What did you like about the product?
 I liked the use of music and sound effects to help tell the story when
dialogue wasn’t allowed or needed. The dark turn to the film was a
nice addition and it would be cool to see what Chris does to cover up
what he’s done. The range of several different types of shots were well
used as it wasn’t just using a medium shot the whole way through.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 An improvement I would suggest is making the line of dialogue a bit
clearer because to some people it could be difficult to make out what
is said.
 What did you like about the product?
 The film is 1 minute long which is a good time as it isn’t too long
or short. There is a wide range of sound effects used throughout
the film. This gives the film an interesting feel to it. The story flows
well which means that the story makes sense.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 Some of the footage could be shot using a lower ISO as the white in
the footage is very bright. The cameras focus on some of the footage
could be improved.
 What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I agree that the line of dialogue could be a lot clearer. Some of the
clips are a brighter than the others, so when recording I need to check
that the camera is on the correct setting for where we are filming.
 What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 That certain parts of audio couldn’t be heard. Also a lot of shots is
suppose to be from someone's eye point of view so its not always
gong to be clear.
If I was to remake my product the things I would change would be how I record
the audio so it can be heard clearly.
I would also like to experiment more with different camera angles, so that the
film can look more professional.
I would like to make the storyline of the short film come off more easier to
understand, because otherwise the person watching could be confused to what
is going on.
Changing the volume of the music throughout the film could benefit it in many
ways, one being so that the lines can be heard.

In the chosen short film I looked at they chose to do an over the shoulder shot to show the difference in conversation between the two characters in shot. The differences are in what the two shots represent. The similarities are the style of the shots.
  • 7. In this specific scene the audio enhances and becomes more intense I did this to create tension for the person watching. In the short film I chose the audio is muffled to make the person talking oblivious to the character in shot. The differences are the type of audio used. In my short film the type of audio used was upbeat and quite scary, in the chosen short film the audio gets louder and as the scene progresses.. The similarities are in both scenes audio is used to create some form of tension .
  • 8. Editing my work was quite enjoyable because I got to experiment with different types of background audio, choosing what would work better with my film. In my film I use two main audio files. At the beginning when the characters were children, the audio related to the clip it was up beat and happy, as well as the colour of the clip being brighter. This is the same for the short film I chose. As shown in this screen shot the scene shows the actor having a difficult time so the screen is dark and the music intensifies.
  • 9. With my short film I tried to keep the colour choices to a minimum. For the main character to be dressed in full black to symbolise the characters emotion. To include some brighter colours I included different shots of nature. I liked how the shot of the first person running came out because it caught different colours. I could improve my work by changing the contrast/brightness. The strengths of my work is that I had very easy access to different filming locations on and around college. I also had access to good cameras so the out come of the film looks better. The weakness of my work was that I didn’t have much help with the camera work.
  • 10. My short film appeals to my chosen audience (adolescents), because the people I chose to be in the film were portrayed to be relatable to anyone watching as well as including something stereotypically for each gender. For females that would be the represent of romance and for males that would be any violence involved.
  • 12.  What did you like about the product?  It was great!  I like the use of sound and the different view points to create the feel of the film. You can tell the story line clearly. I also enjoyed the scene of them chasing one another.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  I think the audio could be just a bit more clearer. You could not hear the ticking of the clock, with that added in it’d bring some more to the film.
  • 13.  What did you like about the product?  I liked the use of music and sound effects to help tell the story when dialogue wasn’t allowed or needed. The dark turn to the film was a nice addition and it would be cool to see what Chris does to cover up what he’s done. The range of several different types of shots were well used as it wasn’t just using a medium shot the whole way through.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  An improvement I would suggest is making the line of dialogue a bit clearer because to some people it could be difficult to make out what is said.
  • 14.  What did you like about the product?  The film is 1 minute long which is a good time as it isn’t too long or short. There is a wide range of sound effects used throughout the film. This gives the film an interesting feel to it. The story flows well which means that the story makes sense.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  Some of the footage could be shot using a lower ISO as the white in the footage is very bright. The cameras focus on some of the footage could be improved.
  • 15.  What do you agree with from your peer feedback?  I agree that the line of dialogue could be a lot clearer. Some of the clips are a brighter than the others, so when recording I need to check that the camera is on the correct setting for where we are filming.  What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?  That certain parts of audio couldn’t be heard. Also a lot of shots is suppose to be from someone's eye point of view so its not always gong to be clear.
  • 16. If I was to remake my product the things I would change would be how I record the audio so it can be heard clearly. I would also like to experiment more with different camera angles, so that the film can look more professional. I would like to make the storyline of the short film come off more easier to understand, because otherwise the person watching could be confused to what is going on. Changing the volume of the music throughout the film could benefit it in many ways, one being so that the lines can be heard.
